About Guitar Center

Guitar Center Review

As the biggest music retailer in America, you likely have already heard about Guitar Center. I mean, they have over 1 million Instagram followers and probably an even higher number of products for sale.

Yet, does that popularity mean that they’re reputable? My Guitar Center review seeks to give you all the information you need about what they sell, what they do, what their prices are like, and what customers think about them so that you can answer that question for yourself.

Why You Should Trust Us

Our mission is to help you make better, more informed purchase decisions. Our team spends hours researching, consulting with medical experts, gathering insight from expert professionals, reviewing customer feedback, and analyzing products to provide you with the information you need.

Overview Of Guitar Center

Guitar Center Review

Guitar Center’s origins date back to the late 1950s, though today they’re known for their ability to put instruments into the hands of musicians both new and experienced.

They specialize in used and vintage gear, though you can still find some exclusive items from well-regarded brands in the industry.

Now then, how about we look at a few highlights in the next section of this Guitar Center review:

Highlights

Guitar Center Review
  • A massive selection of instruments and gear
  • Can purchase and resell your used instruments
  • A+ accredited score on Better Business Bureau
  • Financing payment plans are available
  • Over 5,000 items available for a discount

If it can produce a note, carry a rhythm, or get the crowd pumping then you’ll find it through Guitar Center. However, they also distribute a few more unusual items like the following:

  1. Lighting setups
  2. DJ gear
  3. Power amps

And although I won’t mention this feature too much in this Guitar Center review, I do want to mention that they offer people a platform to sell their equipment.

Their staff will look at what you’ve got, determine its value, and pay you for it. You can either sell it to them for store credit or for cash, and who can say no to cash?

Guitar Center Used & Vintage Review

This section of my Guitar Center review will look at what you can expect from a few items on their site. Take note that the prices may vary depending on the condition of an item.

You can find some products that are of better quality than others, but you’ll have to pay a little bit more for them.

Guitar Center Used Fender Mustang LT25 25W 1×8 Guitar Combo Amp Black Review

If you’ve never toyed with an amp before then the Guitar Center Used Fender Mustang LT25 25W 1×8 Guitar Combo Amp Black may be for you. It has 30-tone presets and a low barrier to entry to optimize those presets.

One buyer wrote that “I was looking for plenty of effects and certainly found them with this! The USB hookup is great because you can build your own effects through the Fender software.”

You can pick up the first item in this Guitar Center review for $150.

Guitar Center Used Yamaha PSR-E273 61-Key Portable Keyboard Review

The Guitar Center Used Yamaha PSR-E273 61-Key Portable Keyboard invites users to experiment with its overflowing number of features, sounds, effects, and drums. As one customer put it,

I have used many similar keyboards that cost twice as much and don’t have nearly as many great features that this one does. It is incredibly simple to use for beginners, but also has tons of advanced features that will keep any keyboard player happy with this product for years to come.”

This keyboard costs $140.

Guitar Center Deals Review

The next portion of this Guitar Center review will look at some of the products with the most eye-catching deals currently running.

Guitar Center Alesis Nitro Mesh Special-Edition 8-Piece Electronic Drum Set Review

The barrier preventing many would-be drummers from recognizing their dreams is the sheer volume of the instrument.

Thankfully, the Guitar Center Alesis Nitro Mesh Special-Edition 8-Piece Electronic Drum Set uses mesh heads for a quieter yet lifelike experience.

I needed a set that I could play on in the wee hours of the night so as not to disturb sleepers. This kit is perfect for that. 40 in-house drum sets. Input for music with headphones and I am able to practice quietly. I probably would not play gigs with this set but perfect for me,” said one Guitar Center review writer.

These drums come in at $449.

Guitar Center Fender Player Stratocaster HSS Plus Top Maple Fingerboard Limited-Edition Electric Guitar Green Burst Review

Is there any better way to wrap up a Guitar Center review than by looking at one of the most iconic guitars of all time?

The Guitar Center Fender Player Stratocaster HSS Plus Top Maple Fingerboard Limited-Edition Electric Guitar Green Burst is a bonafide classic with an electrifying colorway.

As one buyer puts it, “I have owned a few Strats over the years, and this is as nice as any I’ve played. Beautiful fit and finish, and plays great right out of the box. The neck profile is a little thick but it really feels good and sounds great. The screaming-hot humbucker definitely adds a different dimension to the Strat sound.

This guitar is currently on sale too. It normally costs $910, but you can buy it for only $730.

Guitar Center Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Guitar Center Review

To give you a clearer idea of the quality of the products included in this Guitar Center review, I’ve included their customer scores courtesy of the Guitar Center website:

  • Guitar Center Used Yamaha PSR-E273 61-Key Portable Keyboard: 4.9/5 stars based on 5 ratings
  • Guitar Center Used Fender Mustang LT25 25W 1×8 Guitar Combo Amp Black: 4.8/5 stars based on nearly 150 ratings
  • Guitar Center Fender Player Stratocaster HSS Plus Top Maple Fingerboard Limited-Edition Electric Guitar Green Burst: 4.6/5 stars based on more than 165 ratings
  • Guitar Center Alesis Nitro Mesh Special-Edition 8-Piece Electronic Drum Set: 4.4/5 stars based on more than 165 ratings

While those numbers are great, and I love high scores, they don’t give us a comprehensive idea of what customers really think. Therefore, let’s look at what Guitar Center reviews reveal on other websites:

  • Influenster: 4.25/5 stars based on more than 120 pieces of customer feedback
  • Consumer Affairs: 3.4/5 stars based on more than 1,000 pieces of customer feedback
  • Reviews.io: 3.3/5 stars based on more than 10 pieces of customer feedback

The positive Guitar Center reviews touted the brand’s ability to source items for newcomers who want to dip their toes into music:

Guitar Center is THE place for all music equipment & accessories. The staff is really helpful, especially for beginners that need a lot of questions answered about specific brands,” wrote one shopper.

Other customers said that Guitar Center was their go-to destination due to their prices. One buyer wrote, “This is my favorite place for music equipment. The staff is always so friendly and helpful as well. They are there to answer any of your questions. They have great sales too! My boyfriend got his guitar for $400 when it was originally $800.

Sadly, not every Guitar Center review praised the brand. A few customers took issue with the brand’s customer service, staff, and problem-solving capabilities. These problems seem to crop up more with those trying to find answers online rather than in person.

However, one Reddit user left this insightful Guitar Center review:

The quality of their guitars will vary from piece to piece so be sure to try before you buy. Things like general setup and rough frets, superficial damages/scratches and factory defaults can all be seen on the GC floor so be thorough. Their return policy is awesome though so even if you discover something later they’ll gladly take it back.

Is Guitar Center Legit?

Guitar Center Review

I think that Guitar Center is legit if you’re purchasing from one of their in-store locations as there were a few negative reviews that said that the company’s shipping left a little to be desired.
