The kitchen appliance world, like the car industry, has been slowly making progress and innovations over the last century.
We’ve made leaps and bounds in the name of safety and innovation, but where is the pizzazz? We need the je ne sais quoi that makes us look at a machine and go, “wow, now there’s something special.”
Electric vehicles are changing the transportation game, with none other than Tesla at the forefront. So believe me when I say that when people talk about my featured brand and say that “Brava is the Tesla of ovens,” you know we’re on to something special.
Business Insider, Glamour, The New York Times, and many other well-known publications also echo this sentiment about the Brava Smart Oven. The brand’s 56k Instagram followers are also rearing to learn about all the great recipes you can easily create with this technological marvel.
Have I hyped it up enough? Do you want to learn more? You’ve come to the right place, then. In my Brava review, I’ll take a look at the product itself, all the specs, how it works, and, of course, customer reception, all in the hopes of finding out whether Brava is worth it.

Overview Of Brava
Necessity is the mother of invention, but I’d argue that it also drives innovation. The folks at Brava are on a mission to “[empower] anyone to make better food at home, any day of the week,” and, like all good origin stories, the whole thing began with a conversation at the dinner table.
Dan Yue, one of the founders, lamented the fact that slowly cooked meals required constant supervision that took chefs out of the dining room with friends and family and into the kitchen. Of course, the chef could always be accompanied by sympathetic party members, but really, isn’t that just a bandaid solution?
Yue thought so, which is why he teamed up with Thomas Cheng and John Pleasants (the other two founders) to create The Brava Experience.
Using Pure Light Cooking™, the Brava Home Oven promises a cooking experience that is easy, reliable, and faster than conventional ovens. Intense beams of light work together in this novel oven to cook just about any meal you put in there to perfection.
I’ll cover all the nitty-gritty details later in my Brava review, but for now, let’s check out some of the brand’s highlights:
- An oven that reliably and easily cooks meals using a new technology
- Fast cooking times
- Smart features
- Connect to the Brava App for extra functionality
- Positive customer reviews
- Financing options available with Affirm
Don’t worry, I’ll cover the whole experience in my Brava review. I always feel good about a brand that focuses on only one or a few products. It means they’ve taken the time to create something spectacular without all the bloat.
Going forward, I present the Brava Oven.
Brava Oven Review
According to the brand, here are the top five reasons to invest in a Brava Oven:
Let’s take a look at what they actually mean. The Brava Oven has 6 lamps that can deliver 500°F of searing heat in seconds. Think of it like turning on a light in your room except much, much hotter (and also appropriately contained in a sleek casing).
These 6 lights allow the Brava Oven to have a high degree of precision so every bit of your meal gets cooked to perfection.
On top of that, for added control, you can select what type of meal you’re making and this device will adjust its parameters based on what’s included. Now that’s a smart oven.
There are over 1,000 tried-and-true dishes to choose from, with options to cook different parts of the meal to varying degrees.
Take, for example, a good ol’ fashioned steak with asparagus. While it would be difficult to cook both of those items in a traditional oven, the Brava Oven can be fine-tuned to get that steak to a nice level of medium rare while roasting the asparagus to release all of its mouthwatering flavors.
On that note, this oven can be used for cooking a wide variety of meals in a timely and efficient manner. Instead of lingering over a stove and having to constantly check to make sure the meal is properly cooked, the shorter cooking time and intelligent processes will just about assure perfection each time you use the Brava Oven.
You also have the built-in options of slow cook, air fry, and reheat for added functionality. So, onto the potentially most important question: how much does this bad boy cost? You have three options to choose from and they’re all currently on sale with their Black Friday event.
Each of the more expensive options includes more cooking trays and accessories. While many would be happy with the Tempsensor and two cooking trays included in the Starter Set, it’s ok to want a little more. Here’s what you’re looking at in terms of cost:
- Starter Set: $1,195, down from $1,295
- Bake & Breakfast: $1,295, down from $1,495
- Chef’s Choice: $1,395, down from $1,695
How Does The Brava Oven Work?
Now, this is some sear–iously cool tech. The Brava Oven uses the power of exact variable infrared lightwaves courtesy of its 6 mighty lamps to cook a truly staggering variety of food to perfection.
These lamps deliver ultro-focused energy essentially at the flick of a switch, so there is very little need to preheat or cool down.
Based on what ingredients you’re preparing, each lamp can increase or decrease its energy output in order to have everything cooked and ready at the same time.
According to the brand, this form of cooking is great for achieving a Maillard reaction. Don’t worry, I also had to Google it for my Brava review. What that means is that the lamps can help produce nonenzymatic browning.
Okay, okay, I’ll admit I had to dig a little deeper to find out exactly what was going on, but basically, the Brava Oven’s lamps help to sear and brown food to get that beautiful flavoring you might expect to get from other cooking implements such as a regular oven, a wok, or a cast iron pan.
Now you can get all of that utility in a product that essentially takes up the same amount of space as a large toaster oven.
Through the power of technology, each meal preset has a code that lets the lamps coordinate how best to cook the ingredients.
While you might like to eagerly watch how each item gets cooked, you’re better off entertaining your guests for the small amount of time that the Brava Oven takes to get everything ready.
Who Is The Brava Oven For?
Just about anyone reading my Brava review could benefit from this revolutionary device. The Brava Oven acts as a reliable, efficient, and quick cooking method that could easily find a home in most kitchens thanks to its size and usefulness.
Brava Oven Reviews: What Do Customers Think?
Starting strong, the brand’s website averages an excellent 4.4/5 stars from 183 Brava Oven reviews. You’re more than likely to find a host of testimonials that sound like this one:
“Exceptional craftsmanship and best product I have ever purchased for my kitchen. I am a devoted foodie and home cook and plan vacations around food.”
Many customers loved how easy and efficient it was to cook healthy food with the Brava Oven. Check out this Brava review: “I use it 2-3 times a DAY. I literally stopped using my stove 5 months ago ( since I bought the brava). It allowed me to cook delicious food while keeping it healthy.”
Over on Amazon, I found the oven averaged 4.4/5 stars based on 25 reviews. Customers on this website were just as quick to drop oodles of praise for the Brava Oven. Here’s one that basically gives it the ultimate seal of approval:
“Think about how many tools you’ve purchased for your kitchen that either end up useless on the counter or stuffed away in a drawer. I can name more than a half dozen without skipping a beat. But what can I say, the Brava simply works. In fact, it works so well I purchased a second one for my mother-in-law’s house.”
You know something is good when you feel comfortable gifting it to your own mother-in-law.
To really wrap this section up, I’ll leave a quote from the folks over at Gadget Review, who gave the Brava Oven a score of 94/100. While writing about the overall appeal of this product for newcomers and veterans alike, they dropped this gem:
“Yes, the Brava still appeals to me. Why? Because it allows me to achieve simplicity if I so choose. Or I can opt for complexity. It’s sort of a choose-your-own adventure of ovens.”
Is The Brava Oven Worth It?
Simply put, yes, the Brava Oven is worth it. Why? Based on everything I found out while writing my Brava review, this piece of technology is truly on its way to becoming a staple in modern kitchens.
While it can be considered more on the expensive side (although it costs less compared to other kitchen appliances), the sheer amount of utility you can squeeze out of this device is staggering.
Not to mention it allows novice cooks and pro chefs alike to achieve superb results at just about the click of a button.
