About CarDoor

CarDoor Review

If you’re in the market for a new car, you know that there are plenty of factors to consider before making a purchase. From the model to the year to the mileage and everything in between, it’s a hassle, to say the least. That’s usually why people turn to car dealerships, but they can increase prices to compensate for their work.

To skip that rat race, consider CarDoor, an online dealer in Ontario that allows shoppers to browse its inventory and purchase vehicles directly from their website. They offer a hassle-free car shopping experience, making it easy to find the car of your dreams without ever leaving your home. With CarDoor, you can browse their inventory, find the perfect car, and have it delivered directly to your front door.

Plus, they offer competitive prices and financing options to make your purchase even more affordable. Their whole model is based on the idea that car shopping should work for you, not vice versa. Remember, humans invented cars as tools of transportation.

However, does that mean the website is worth checking out? Keep reading my CarDoor review as I fill you in on how the website works, its advantages, who it’s for, and what customers think about it.

CarDoor Basics

CarDoor Review

In a nutshell, CarDoor is an Ontario-only database of cars for sale or trade. Users get the opportunity to advertise their cars if they want to sell them, browse through the vehicles other shoppers have posted, or even trade in their vehicles for money.

If your car needs a little work before it hits the market or you need service from a professional who makes house calls, CarDoor has your back. You can schedule an appointment with them entirely through their website.

Finally, they have protection plans that keep you safe from buying a faulty vehicle. Some of these plans are automatically included with each purchase while others must be added on for an extra fee.

How Does CarDoor Work?

CarDoor Review

In this section of my CarDoor review, I’ll break down the process you need to follow if you want to buy or sell a car with them. Luckily, it’s easy regardless of which path you’re going down.

Selling your car requires only three steps and you’re only actually responsible for one of them.

  1. First, you’ll earn a trade estimate on CarDoor and submit 13 required photos of your vehicle.
  2. Next, CarDoor will advertise your vehicle on their website to customers.
  3. Once an offer is agreed upon, CarDoor will pick up your car.

CarDoor estimates a vehicle’s value using AutoVerify, a third-party app that compares a vehicle’s year, make, and model to similar vehicles in Canada. Once they find the value and a buyer, they’ll present you with a physical check when they pick up your car.

Now, if you’re looking to buy a car, here’s where CarDoor becomes fun. You can sift through various categories to find the car that’s right for you. At the time of writing my CarDoor review, the oldest vehicles available were 2013 models, but most of the over 1,200 cars for sale came from 2018 and 2019.

Some of the filters you can sift through include:

  • Price
  • Body style
  • Year
  • Make
  • Model
  • Fuel type
  • Odometer
  • Engine

Every vehicle listing includes its retail price, its biweekly financing rate, its odometer, key features, and other details. Once you find a car you like you can check its availability by signing up for CarDoor

Services

CarDoor Review

Another important aspect of CarDoor’s business model is that they offer at-home maintenance for customers. They can provide the following services for as little as $149:

  • Oil change
  • Brake repair, replacement, and inspections
  • Tire change, repair, and storage

They can also perform a full diagnostics assessment on your vehicle for $120, detailing and interior car cleaning for $114, and basic repairs starting at $32.

All you need to do is book an appointment and wait for CarDoor to come treat your vehicle. They service only what you requested from them, which can save a ton of time versus if you were to visit a mechanic’s shop.

Protection Plans

CarDoor Review

CarDoor also includes protections for new shoppers that can certify that their purchase is not faulty. Every purchase includes a 14-day money-back guarantee in which a customer can return their new vehicle for a full refund. There’s also a 60-day exchange program where customers can exchange their vehicle for one of equal or greater value.

There are also optional warranty plans you can add to your purchase for 24-hour roadside assistance, engine cooling systems, and more. Obviously, these warranties cost extra and scale in price alongside a vehicle’s cost.

Who Is CarDoor For?

CarDoor Review

At the time of writing my CarDoor review, the service is only available in Ontario, so obviously you should only shop with them if you live in that province.

if you’re lucky enough to already live in Ontario then you may want to check out CarDoor if any of the following applies to you:

  • You dislike the idea of shopping with a dealer
  • You want to resell your vehicle on the internet
  • You want to shop with consumer protections in place

CarDoor Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

CarDoor Review

As of July 2023, there are only CarDoor reviews from customers on Google, though they’re overwhelmingly positive. More than 165 customers gave the company an average score of 4.9/5 stars.

Buyers and sellers praised CarDoor for the simplicity and efficiency of the process. They were relieved with how easy it was to work with the company.

One user wrote, “Not having bought a new car for a long time and doing it online, I feared the experience.  With CarDoor it turned out to be so easy and pleasant. Their experienced staff explained all in detail of how it was going to work. All I did was give CarDoor information of what I expected. I was sent a choice of certified vehicles that met the criteria. They also got me a great deal on my trade in.

Customers also commented that CarDoor’s staff were a joy to work with. They said they were knowledgeable and stuck by their claims, including those concerning a vehicle’s warranty.

As one customer put it, “Had the easiest experience with them, they were quick responses and helpful with any questions I had. When I needed something fixed on the car they were more than willing to help, lived up to their warranty and made sure everything was done right. I’d would use cardoor again

While it can sometimes feel daunting to purchase a car online, most shoppers on CarDoor felt secure in their purchases. This is partially because the company kept their communication channels open with customers so that everyone was on the same page. Nobody felt that they were missing information or that they didn’t know what was happening.

Zac delivered the vehicle, super friendly and nice. Just a pleasure talking with him. The car was exactly what I was hoping for, beautiful condition, very clean inside and out and just enjoyable to drive. The overall experience was super easy and pleasant. I highly recommend Cardoor Inc. I would buy another from them in a heart beat,” wrote one shopper.

The only negative CarDoor reviews came from would-be sellers who felt the company undervalued their car, but it’s difficult to know what state their car was in when they tried to sell it.

As such, I feel secure in claiming that CarDoor astounded customers with their service, communication, and security.

Is CarDoor Worth It?

CarDoor Review

Seeing as how there were barely any negative CarDoor reviews online – and that most customers were ecstatic in their feedback – I’d say that CarDoor is definitely worth checking out if you’re trying to buy or sell a vehicle in Ontario.
