About Glytone

Glytone Review

Taking care of your skin is about more than appearances. Uneven skin tones, dry patches, or oily skin can sometimes represent larger health risks just as much as they can stubbornly resist over-the-counter creams.

That’s unfortunate considering how many skincare products promote quick, one-and-done treatments when, in reality, all they’re doing is putting a veil over the problem.

Good skincare is just as much about science as it is about soothing, and you’ll find both aspects in each of Glytone’s products. The brand uses glycolic acid in nearly all of their items, a compound that can improve acne, reduce redness, and exfoliate the skin[1]

The brand’s line of professional-grade products has netted them over 33k followers on Instagram and decades’ worth of success.

In this Glytone review, I’ll look at how their items can benefit you, what their ingredients are, what customers say about them, and more so that you can see whether or not they’ll be good for you.

Overview Of Glytone

Glytone Review

Although Glytone has been in business since 1992, I have to go further back in history to give you the full picture. Scientists and dermatologists began experimenting with glycolic acid all the way back in 1943 with the hopes of creating products that could sustainably repair skin.

The science was eventually realized in 1984 as glycolic acid’s benefits were proven. Eight years later, Glytone established themselves as one of the front-runners in skincare due to their heavy usage of the acid.

They measure the exact amount of glycolic acid in each of their products for particular uses. As such, their lotions all serve different purposes for different people.

This makes them a great consideration for people trying to find comprehensive skin care products that can work in harmony with each other.

The next portion of this Glytone review will give you a broad idea of what’s so attractive about this brand.

Highlights

Glytone Review
  • Glycolic acid-based skincare treatments
  • All products are made with water-tight scientific backing
  • Many of their items are available in popular retailers
  • Products and practices do not use animal testing
  • Free shipping on all orders over $65

Glytone’s product selection is nearly large enough to fill up your local pharmacy. It can be a little daunting to sort through their cleansers, eye care products, kits, sunscreens, masks, serums, and more.

Luckily, they make it easy for shoppers who know what they need and what they don’t need. You can filter their products by purpose, ingredients, and collection.

I also appreciate how you can refine your search by selecting which ingredients you don’t want in your product in case you have allergies.

Glytone Skincare Review

This segment of my Glytone review will go in-depth on a few of the brand’s best-selling, science-backed, and skin-care expert-admired products.

I’ve assembled a wide variety of goods so you can read about how Glytone skincare can treat issues on your face and body.

Glytone Age Defense UV Mineral Sunscreen Serum Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ Review

The first item to earn its place in this Glytone review is intended for daily use, or that’s what the Skin Care Foundation recommends.

Due to the Glytone Age Defense UV Mineral Sunscreen Serum Broad Spectrum SPF 50+’s multi-functionality, that makes total sense. This isn’t a typical sunscreen but a nourishing cream that can also protect your skin from UV rays.

It is intended to aid all skin types from telltale signs of early aging like wrinkles, lines, and stress-related damage.

Those unwanted features should quiver in fear of the Glytone Age Defense UV Mineral Sunscreen Serum Broad Spectrum SPF 50+’s anti-aging active stress ingredients like an ellagic acid complex[2] and niacinamide[3]

This cream is also designed to combat dark spots, free radicals, and pores. You can grab a 1.7-ounce bottle for $39.

Glytone Acne Treatment Lotion Review

As much as we associate pimples with puberty, that’s sadly not true in reality.

Acne continues far past adolescence, and I can speak from personal experience on that note because even my dad, who practically lives outside during the summer and applies lotion like he’s trying to give himself a new coat of paint, still struggles with it.

You don’t have to be my dad to reap the benefits of the Glytone Acne Treatment Lotion. It can alleviate mild to medium bouts of acne in those who frequently suffer from breakouts.

Acne is caused by a combination of factors[4], including excess oil production, dead skin cells, and the presence of bacteria on the skin. It can manifest as blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples, and can occur on the face, neck, back, and chest.

Acne breakouts can be caused or exacerbated by a variety of factors, including stress, diet, hormonal changes, certain medications, and certain skincare products.

Researches[5] shows that acne is generally not a serious medical condition, but it can cause discomfort and self-consciousness and can lead to scarring if not treated properly.

You can use it every day because it’s light so it won’t drag down your skin nor should it clog up your pores.

The Glytone Acne Treatment Lotion uses three main ingredients to accomplish its task:

  1. Salicylic acid penetrates deep into pores to rid them of debris that encourages acne
  2. Bisabolol can soothe the skin to deter more irritation
  3. Bakuchiol can brighten the flesh’s natural tone

The largest pro of this acne lotion is that it shouldn’t dry out your face nor coat it in oil. It hits the sweet middle mark to leave your skin glowing and fresh. You can pick up a 2-ounce bottle of Glytone Acne Treatment Lotion for $32.

Glytone Exfoliating Body Lotion Review

With a creamy texture and a soft touch, the Glytone Exfoliating Body Lotion can be a pleasure to apply to your skin. It’s much more than just a nice feeling though, as this body lotion can help reduce your skin’s redness and leave it glimmering.

There are many causes for splotchy skin like the sun, stress, sweat, and overall dehydration. The Glytone Exfoliating Body Lotion seeks to remedy them all.

It has a thicker consistency that may feel foreign to some, but give it some time and you should feel it sink into your skin rather than coat it with pore-clogging oil.

In fact, the Glytone Exfoliating Body Lotion was designed to push through the dead cells on the top of your skin while also feeding the healthy cells that need some love.

The 17.5% free acid value glycolic acid is a large contributor to this. Not only can it help displace dead cells to clean up your appearance, but it can renew some of the damaged cells.

If you suffer from keratosis pilaris, you should look into this product. It can be yours for $44.

Glytone Enhance Brightening Complex Review

Azelaic acid[6] and glycolic acid form the backbone of the next item in this Glytone review.

Sufferers from hyperpigmentation (i.e. dark spots or imbalances in skin color) should pay particular note to the Glytone Enhance Brightening Complex. It’s made to balance your skin tone for a consistent and bright look.

By clearing dead skin cells out of the way, this complex’s key ingredients can nourish the cells beneath to bring the skin back to a uniform tone. This product should also leave your skin with a soft and smooth feeling.

The Glytone Enhance Brightening Complex costs $78 for a 1-ounce bottle.

Glytone Mild Gel Cleanser Review

Sometimes you don’t need a toss everything but the kitchen sink at your skin. Sometimes, a minimal product like the Glytone Mild Gel Cleanser is all you need.

That’s not to downplay its effectiveness but to state that it can help those with normal and oily skin without overdoing it.

It seeks to remedy the smaller issues that plague those who don’t suffer from dry skin. Namely, it exfoliates the flesh, provides a refreshing feeling and can serve as a great precursor to other skincare products

Studies[7] shows that regular exfoliation can help remove dead skin cells and unclog pores, which can reduce the risk of acne and other skin problems. It can also stimulate cell turnover, which can improve the overall texture and tone of your skin.

Exfoliating can also help to improve the effectiveness of your skincare products by removing the barrier of dead skin cells that can prevent these products from penetrating the skin.

You can use the Glytone Mild Gel Cleanser up to twice a day to keep your facial skin in tip-top shape. This versatile cleansing product costs $48.

Glytone KP Kit Review

Ths Glytone KP Kit closes out this section of my Glytone review. It looks to rid the effects of keratosis pilaris in two steps. The included body wash and body lotion work together to smother bumps and moisturize dry skin.

The cracked skin and bright red areas common among KP sufferers should be no more once you add the Glytone KP Kit to your daily routine.

It can leave you shining with moist skin and a smooth finish. The duo costs $69, which is slightly cheaper than if you were to buy the products separately.

Who Is Glytone For?

Glytone Review

The items in this Glytone review are best suited for people who have tried other skincare products and felt disappointed. Because Glytone’s items are specialist-developed and specified into particular niches, they’re ideal for those who need to remedy specific issues.

Glytone Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Glytone Review

I’ve gathered the customer review scores from all the items I covered in my review. These scores all come courtesy of the buyer review section on Glytone’s website:

  • Glytone Mild Gel Cleanser: 4.8/5 stars based on more than 130 ratings
  • Glytone KP Kit: 4.8/5 stars based on more than 70 ratings
  • Glytone Exfoliating Body Lotion: 4.7/5 stars based on nearly 100 ratings
  • Glytone Acne Treatment Lotion: 4.6/5 stars based on 10 ratings
  • Glytone Enhance Brightening Complex: 4.5/5 stars based on more than 50 ratings
  • Glytone Age Defense UV Mineral Sunscreen Serum Broad Spectrum SPF 50+: 4.1/5 stars based on more than 10 ratings

I wasn’t satisfied with just those numbers even though they were all promising. I wanted to see what customers said in their Glytone reviews on other websites, so I looked at scores from some of the brand’s other carriers:

  • Dermstore: 4.6/5 stars based on more than 155 pieces of customer feedback on the Glytone Exfoliating Body Lotion
  • Amazon: 4.4/5 stars based on more than 1,400 pieces of customer feedback on the Glytone Exfoliating Body Lotion With 17.5 Free Acid Value Glycolic Acid
  • Make-Up Alley: 4.4/5 stars based on more than 20 pieces of customer feedback on the Glytone Body Lotion

As I mentioned earlier, I believe Glytone’s products are best for people with specific skincare problems, and buyers felt the same way.

The most insightful Glytone reviews came from people who needed to address defined issues, which is what this shopper loved about her purchase:

Glytone sunscreen is an excellent product. As a woman of color, it can be hard at times to find a bendable sunscreen that doesn’t leave your skin looking as if there is residue left behind. I use Glytone sunscreen consistently in order to address my hyperpigmentation and aging skin concerns.

Glytone’s products were seen as effective during the pandemic due to increased acne rates thanks to masking mandates. I read plenty of Glytone reviews similar to the one I’ve included below that said the people relied on the brand to get rid of their acne:

I purchased this because I have a history of breakouts around my chin and jawline. Since using the Glytone products, that has cleared up and now I have only an occasional blemish related to wearing an N95 all day, 5 days a week. My skin is the clearest it’s been in years. Very pleased!

You might’ve noticed that I mentioned keratosis pilaris a few times in this Glytone review. That’s because the condition is both tough to treat and common.

If you suffer from it then you’ll be happy to read that many shoppers turned to Glytone to alleviate its symptoms and found that the company was extremely helpful. Here’s a buyer testimonial that details their experience with KP and Glytone:

This is the only lotion I’ve ever found that helps my KP. So much so that I have stuck with it and gone through several bottles. I apply it to my arms every other day right after showering. My arm skin is still problematic, but better than before. Much smoother and healthier looking.

Is Glytone Legit?

Glytone Review

I read some Glytone reviews that said that the products were a bit too thick in some instances or that they didn’t work as effectively as others reported. I wouldn’t consider this a knock against the brand though because everyone’s skin is different.

Plus, in the case of the former criticism, it was a matter of personal preference. People weren’t saying that the items didn’t work, just that they were thicker than they would’ve liked. That’s a fair observation though it in no way means that Glytone is sketchy.

It’s safe to say that this brand is legit.

Is Glytone Worth It?

Glytone Review

As someone who has suffered from acne and dry skin before, these products seem like a breath of fresh air

I’ve tried so many different treatments that have worked with varying degrees of success, but reading the positive Glytone reviews from customers gives me hope that most people suffering from similar dilemmas will find their solution with Glytone.

Glytone Promotions & Discounts

Glytone Review

Glytone encourages would-be customers to find the product that’s best suited for their skin type with the promise of a discount.

They will grant you a 10% discount and free shipping after you complete a 1-on-1 consultation with one of their dermatologists. The virtual skin assessment only takes 20 minutes and you can schedule it whenever you’d like.

The promotions don’t end there. Glytone wants to share their products with you, which is why they include 2 free samples with every order

You don’t need a Glytone promo code to redeem them either, just select them when you have to input your delivery information at the checkout stage.

That being said, there is a Glytone promo code that’s only available for orders over $75. Use the code Cleanser to receive a free Glytone cleanser alongside your purchase.

Lastly, Glytone has an auto-refill subscription service that can save you some cash in the long run. That’s because you’ll receive a 10% discount when you first sign up for the service.
