Overview of Hydroxycut

Hydroxycut Review

MuscleTech Research & Development developed and began manufacturing Hydroxycut in 2002, before being sold to Iovate in 2003. While MuscleTech declared bankruptcy in 2005, Iovate has continued to use the MuscleTech name to sell Hydroxycut.

Hydroxycut’s mission is to provide a good quality product with ingredients that are backed by science. They emphasize that each of their manufacturing locations follows Good Manufacturing Practices and want you to know that their products are effective.

MuscleTech manufactures Hydroxycut in Blasdell, New York, and Mississauga, Canada.

Now let’s have a look at some of the brand’s highlights before going any further in this Hydroxycut review.

Hydroxycut Pro Clinical Review

The key ingredient Hydroxycut uses is c. canephora robusta. This ingredient has two scientific studies showing its effectiveness. One study showed that this ingredient led to an average weight loss of 10.95 lbs in 60 days with a low-calorie diet.

Another study showed that the ingredient led to 3.7 lbs of weight loss in 8 weeks with a low-calorie diet and moderate exercise.

What else does Hydroxycut use to make their products so effective? Read on to find out what is inside their flagship product: Hydroxycut Pro Clinical.

Hydroxycut Pro Clinical Ingredients Label

The main ingredient in Hydroxycut Pro Clinical is their proprietary Hydroxycut Weight Loss Plus blend. This includes robusta coffee extract, apple cider vinegar, plum, baobab extract, and cardamom seed.

Research shows[1] that robusta coffee extract can help to induce fatty acid metabolism, helping to enhance weight loss.

Apple cider vinegar, on the other hand, has no research to support its use in weight loss. Plum doesn’t seem to help with weight loss either. In fact, most of the research[2] surrounding plum extract shows its role in preventing and reversing bone loss.

No research appears to exist relating baobab extract or cardamom seed to weight loss.

Hydroxycut Pro Clinical Nutritional Value

In addition to 604mg of their Weight Loss Plus Blend, Hydroxycut contains the following vitamins per 2 capsules:

  • Vitamin D: 10 mcg (50% of your Daily Value!)
  • Thiamin: 0.3 mg
  • Riboflavin: 0.3 mg
  • Niacin: 4 mg
  • Vitamin B6: 0.4 mg
  • Vitamin B12: 6 mcg

Hydroxycut Pro Clinical Benefits

The main ingredient of robusta coffee extract has been scientifically linked to weight loss. Because of its caffeine content, it can also give you an energy boost to help with your workouts.

That caffeine content can also help you to burn more calories, further enhancing your weight loss. The B vitamins in Hydroxycut Pro Clinical can also help your body better metabolize carbs, proteins, and fats.

How Does Hydroxycut Pro Clinical Work

The main way that Hydroxycut works is through its caffeine content. Caffeine is scientifically proven[3] to boost metabolism and enhance fat burning.

Hydroxycut Black Review

Hydroxycut Black contains the same key ingredient as the original product but comes in a rapid-release capsule with thermogenesis-activating ingredients. So what exactly sets it apart? And is it worth the extra cost? Continue reading this Hydroxycut review to find out.

Hydroxycut Black Ingredients Label

Hydroxycut Black contains the following ingredients:

Caffeine: Found in your usual cup of coffee, there is strong research[4] to show caffeine’s role in weight loss. It can help to reduce body fat and lower body mass index.

Robusta Coffee Extract: This study shows that robusta coffee extract can help to induce fatty acid metabolism, thus helping to enhance weight loss.

Medium-Chain Triglyceride Oil: This oil can help with weight loss. However, research shows[5] that this more so happens when replacing dietary long-chain triglycerides with medium-chain triglycerides, rather than simply taking an MCT supplement.

Yohimbe Extract: This comes from an African evergreen tree. Unfortunately, this study[6] showed that yohimbe may not be quite as effective at speeding along weight loss as the folks at Hydroxycut might hope.

Black Caraway Extract: However, black caraway extract has strong evidence[7] to support its role in weight loss, reducing BMI, and lowering waist circumference.

Purslane Extract: A leafy green vegetable, no research shows any role of purslane extract in weight loss. However, evidence shows[8] it does have anti-inflammatory benefits.

Maitake Mushroom Extract: First used in traditional Asian medicine, this mushroom can help reduce inflammation in your intestines according to this study[9].

Chicory Extract: This perennial plant is a rich natural source of fiber. No research shows it can help with weight loss, but it can be helpful[10] for diabetes, regulating insulin levels.

Hydroxycut Black Nutritional Value

Hydroxycut Black contains 200mg of their star ingredient, robusta coffee extract. It also contains an additional 200mg of pure caffeine. There is also 200mg of MCT oil.

Hydroxycut Black Benefits

The main ingredient, robusta coffee extract, is scientifically proven to help with weight loss. Hydroxycut Black also contains yohimbe, a herb stimulant that you can feel working. It can also help to improve your metabolism of carbs, fats, and proteins.

How Does Hydroxycut Black Work

So, how does Hydroxycut Black work? Caffeine speeds up metabolism. The other big-hitting ingredient here is of course the robusta coffee extract.

This coffee extract has a phytonutrient called chlorogenic acid. As shown in one study[11], this can regulate how quickly you absorb carbs from food. It can also help you to feel more full for longer periods.

The herbal ingredient yohimbe is a stimulant that can help boost your metabolism. Chicory root is a rich source of fiber, which means it can also help you to feel more full for longer.

Hydroxycut Black How to Take & Dosage

One serving of Hydroxycut Black is two capsules. Take your two capsules twice per day. You’ll want to do this 30 to 60 minutes before your two biggest meals of the day, such as lunch and dinner.

It’s important that you don’t snack between meals or before your big meals. Don’t take Hydroxycut Black within 5 hours of going to bed, or that caffeine will keep you up all night!

Don’t have more than four capsules per 24-hour period. You’ll want to use it for 60 days with a low-calorie diet and exercise to see the best results.

Hydroxycut Gummies Review

Now that you’ve made your way through most of this Hydroxycut review, you probably have a good understanding of what the company has to offer.

If it sounds intriguing to you, but you’re looking for a more fun way to take the supplement and get a boost of essential vitamins, then the Hydroxycut Gummies will definitely interest you.

Hydroxycut Gummies Ingredients Label

Hydroxycut Gummies contain the following ingredients:

  • Robusta coffee
  • Vitamins: A, C, D, E, K, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, B6, folate, B12, pantothenic acid, biotin
  • Minerals: calcium, iodine, selenium, zinc, sodium

As we have mentioned, there is a lot of research that shows[1] that Hydroxycut’s signature ingredient of robusta coffee extract can enhance weight loss. The purpose of the ingredients in Hydroxycut Gummies specifically is to help prevent vitamin and mineral deficiency.

There is research[12] to show that deficiency of vitamins A and E can result from weight-loss interventions. Seeing as most Hydroxycut customers are looking to lose weight, they could benefit from getting vitamins A and E through this product.

In addition, vitamin C levels are inversely related[13] to weight, meaning that people with lower vitamin C levels tend to have higher weight, and vice versa.

Research[14] has also shown that weight loss can also result in lower levels of vitamin D and thiamine. This means it may be important to supplement with these vitamins if you plan on losing weight!

This is also the case[15] for riboflavin, as its levels will also lower after exercise and weight loss. Supplementation is also very important to ensure healthy levels of this B vitamin.

Although niacin may not have direct effects on weight loss, there is evidence[16] to show it can help to manage cholesterol levels. This is important for people who are overweight, as being overweight can be related to high cholesterol.

Vitamin B6 has been shown[17] to help maintain lean muscle mass. It also helps to maintain a healthy hip to waist ratio. This is important since a healthy hip to waist ratio is related to heart health.

Pantothenic Acid can help[18] enhance metabolism and weight loss. Also, calcium supplementation can be beneficial[19] for weight loss, maintenance, and body composition. This is especially true for overweight and obese postmenopausal women.

Although iodine may not directly help with weight loss, it is important for thyroid health[20]. Having a healthy thyroid is important for having a healthy metabolism and losing weight. Interestingly, this study[21] on selenium shows that it can actually lead to weight loss itself. So including it in these gummies makes it a very important addition.

Women who are overweight are at higher risk of zinc deficiency. If you’re female and looking to lose weight, chances are you may benefit from a zinc supplement, which Hydroxycut Gummies gives you.

There is no evidence to show that sodium, biotin, vitamin K, B6, or B12 are associated with weight loss.

Hydroxycut Gummies Nutritional Value

One serving of three Hydroxycut Gummies is just 30 calories and has 8g of carbs. However, 5g of those are added sugars. Here’s how much of those other vitamins and minerals this supplement contains:

Hydroxycut Gummies Benefits

Because of that robusta coffee extract, and a whole host of other ingredients, Hydroxycut Gummies can help with weight loss as I outlined above. These gummies also double as a multivitamin, since they contain 16 essential vitamins and minerals.

There is no added caffeine on top of the coffee extract, making this product a good choice for those who may be more caffeine-sensitive.

How Does Hydroxycut Gummies Work

The robusta coffee extract in Hydroxycut Gummies enhances weight loss. The vitamins and minerals in this product help to prevent nutrient deficiencies and encourage overall wellness.

One of the vitamins in the gummies is vitamin D. Vitamin D can help with metabolic function and weight management.

Hydroxycut Gummies How to Take & Dosage

One serving is three gummies. Take one serving twice per day. This should be 30 to 60 minutes before your two largest meals of the day. Don’t have more than six gummies in a 24-hour period. You’ll want to use this product for at least 60 days with a low-calorie diet and moderate exercise for best results.

Who Is Hydroxycut For?

Hydroxycut Review

Hydroxycut is designed and best suited for adults 18 to 50 years old. These products work for males and females, but they have specific products for females that you may want to look into.

Hydroxycut reviews and research show that products work best for those who are eating a low-calorie diet and doing exercise regularly.

You might want to try Hydroxycut if you are overweight or obese and ready to make lifestyle changes with an extra boost.

Hydroxycut Side Effects

Hydroxycut Review

The main ingredient in all of the Hydroxycut products I covered in this review is robusta coffee extract.

This ingredient naturally contains caffeine. Hydroxycut Black even contains extra caffeine on top of this, which is something to look out for if you are sensitive to caffeine. Too much caffeine can lead to anxiety, sleep disturbances, and high blood pressure.

In one study[22], researchers gave mice daily doses of coffee extract for two months. They found that the mice had significant depletion of calcium in their bones. This means that taking Hydroxycut, and especially Hydroxycut Black long-term could be bad for your bones.

Hydroxycut Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Hydroxycut Review

Customers can leave Hydroxycut reviews on their website, so there are many reviews available there. There are also countless reviews on Amazon, Consumer Affairs, and Influenster.

According to the official Hydroxycut website, here are the ratings for the three products we reviewed:

  • Hydroxycut Pro Clinical: 4.8/5 stars over 250 reviews
  • Hydroxycut Black: 4.8/5 stars after 72 reviews
  • Hydroxycut Gummies: 4.6/5 stars following 170 reviews

One customer said that although Hydroxycut did not help her lose a lot of weight, it did help to change her body composition: “I’ve lost 9 lbs after around 50 days and feel stronger and leaner. It doesn’t sound like a lot but my body composition has changed.”

Another customer on Influenster saw her daughter’s results and decided to try Hydroxycut for herself. She liked that it was easy to take and importantly, she also mentioned that her weight loss was in combination with daily exercise: “Helped me lose my 60 pounds combined with exercise every day.”

A different customer on Amazon mentioned that she exercises sparingly but does eat healthily. She mentioned that adding Hydroxycut to her current health routine “has been a good addition to kick start weight loss.”

In general, customers seem amazed at how effective Hydroxycut is and how quickly it works. One customer said: “This product is different. I am seeing results in just 2 weeks. Totally amazed.”

Is Hydroxycut Worth It?

Hydroxycut Review

If after reading this Hydroxycut review you are interested in taking one of their products for weight loss, be aware of the side effects. You may not get more benefits from this product than you would from simply drinking coffee, which is also more cost-effective.

It’s hard to say whether the benefits that customers mention in Hydroxycut reviews and participants in research studies saw were from Hydroxycut or the lifestyle changes they made. This is because, for these studies, participants started a low-calorie diet and exercised at the same time as they started taking Hydroxycut.

So, I’ll leave it up to you to decide if Hydroxycut is worth it or not!
