Overview of Molekule

Molekule Air Purifier Review

Molekule is a family-run business that originated with a problem very close to home. Looking for ways to help his son Dilip, who suffered from serious asthma, Dr. Yogi Goswami spent two decades developing a process that would break down the everyday indoor pollutants that contribute to the condition.

Quality of air plays a direct role in helping to alleviate any respiratory symptoms and removing particles like dust, smoke, and pollen from the air can improve these symptoms. According to this study[1], the idea that air purification can reduce indoor concentrations of pollution and irritants was successfully demonstrated in single-person households.

The result was the patented PECO technology[2], which uses nanotechnology to attack bacteria, mold, viruses, pollen, smoke, dust, and other common airborne pollutants, destroying them with astonishing speed. Realizing the enormous benefits of PECO, Dilip and his sister Jaya Rao partnered with their father to launch Molekule in 2014.

PECO is a new air purification technology developed to reduce circulating indoor allergens with the removal of volatile organic compounds. According to this study[3], portable PECO air purification appears to reduce hospital stays and intervention for patients admitted with respiratory problems and distress.

Based in San Francisco, Molekule pursues its mission “to deliver clean air to everyone, everywhere” through a line of air purifiers specially designed for every room in the home. The company is also committed to bringing PECO to hospitals, businesses, and other public buildings to combat dirty indoor air.

The sleek design features a vegan leather handle, allowing you to easily transport the Air from room to room. And if you’re worried about noise, don’t be: the operation is nearly silent, so you can run the purifier all night and not have a minute of your precious sleep disturbed.

The Air retails for $799, and comes with 1 Molekule air filter (good for 6 months) and 1 pre-filter (good for 3 months). If you sign up for a Molekule subscription, you’ll get 2 replacement filters and 4 replacement pre-filters every 6 months for $130. On the brand website, the Air has a rating of 4.4/5 stars based on 1,279 reviews. Customers praised both its effectiveness in reducing the symptoms of asthma and allergies, as well as the mental comfort and security it brought.

It really works better than traditional HEPA filters[7]. My asthma and allergies are much better now. They get rid of much smaller asthma triggers,” commented one buyer. Another noted that the unit is “very user friendly. Gives a sense of security that you are breathing ‘Good’ air. Very quiet. Very pleased with this well-built product. Money well spent!”

The Air Mini+ is another winner, bringing in 4.5/5 stars from 60 reviews. One user who suffers from serious allergies recounted the life-changing effects of this technology.

My allergies to trees, grasses and weeds has left me swollen, sick and in the ER. I woke up every morning all year long tired, stuffy and sneezing. Not once since getting my Mini+ has this happened. I bought a second one for our living room and move it to our camper when we head into the wilderness. This is a total game changer,” she wrote.

Molekule COVID protection was also highlighted by this commenter, who concluded by saying that “having guests or family over as we return to normalcy feels better knowing I will be running my Molekule to keep the air clean.

That’s the hometown advantage—now, this Molekule review will check out some third-party sites. On Trustpilot, Molekule has 3.7/5 stars based on 48 reviews. Commenters here often echoed the same observations and sentiments as those at the brand website, remarking on the noticeably cleaner air that the units provide, as well as their stylish design and easy use.

I am an allergist and know the importance of air purifiers for people with allergies. This system is great. Compact and looks great. Quiet and easy to move from room to room. Definitely recommend to all my patients.”

Molekule air purifier Amazon reviews give the Air an impressive 4.5/5-star score based on 871 global ratings. In addition to the unit’s health benefits, one commenter singled out its attractive and aesthetically pleasing design.

I ordered this Molekule air purifier for the main living area in a 2 bedroom apartment. We have an open floor plan and it fits the space well. I LOVE the modern, sleek design and was so impressed with the packaging when it arrived….The handle makes it easy to carry around the home to find the perfect spot,” she wrote.

At the Better Business Bureau website, where Molekule has an A+ rating, Molekule has shown itself to be very attentive when it comes to negative reviews. All complaints on the BBB site are responded to. This all seems part and parcel of Molekule’s consistent striving for excellence.

Where is Molekule made?

While Molekule is based in San Francisco, the company sources globally for the construction of its air purifiers. Parts of the products are manufactured in the US, Malaysia, and China.

Is Molekule a HEPA filter?

Molekule does not use HEPA filters. The company uses its own patented filter technology called photo electrochemical oxidation, or PECO for short.

Due to their unique technology, Molekule air purifiers are very quiet compared to conventional devices. The company claims that the noise level ranges from 41 to 65 decibels, which is quiet enough that you can sleep comfortably while they’re running.

Why does my Molekule smell?

During its initial use, your Molekule air purifier may emit an odor. This is called off-gassing, which is the release of gases trapped in the unit during the shipping process.
