About Nolah Mattress

Nolah Mattress Review

One of the funniest changes we go through as we age is how our opinion on sleep evolves. As children, we hate it, stomping our feet into the ground as we pout, defiant that we are not tired, that it is not our bedtime, and wondering why our older sibling gets to stay up late to watch tv.

Then, something happens in our twenties. We may not want to sleep more, but we realize that we need it more. We feel like a butter knife trying to slice through a steak the day after a rough night out, while on the days following a good rest, we feel like Olympic athletes.

But as they say, cribs are for children, hay is for horses, and beds are for royalty. Now that most people serve as the monarchs of their own bodies, it only makes sense for them to treat themselves as royalty.

The sensitivity to mattresses properties varies with age[1] and given how everyone wants to sleep a bit more, perhaps the best regal gift you can give yourself is a mattress from Nolah Mattress.

Their mattresses have earned accolades from the likes of Forbes, Good Housekeeping, Livestrong, and more. They’re specifically adored by side sleepers who make up some of the brand’s Instagram following of 3k people.

But are their mattresses right for you? Keep reading this Nolah Mattress review to find out as you’ll learn about the company’s history, what makes their mattresses different, what customers think about their products, and more so that you can come to your own conclusion.

Overview of Nolah Mattress

Nolah Mattress Review

Memory foam is great, but it’s outdated, at least according to Nolah Mattress. The brand saw the pros and cons of the material and thought about how they could improve on it. Their solution was to create the Nolah AirFoam, a mattress that didn’t trap so much heat as memory foam while still providing a great level of comfort and support.

You’ll find that the items in this Nolah Mattress review are less expensive than other mattresses from retail locations. It’s not because you’re buying a Frankenstein mattress made from sewn-together spare parts, so sorry if that’s what you were looking for. In actuality, Nolah Mattress can cut the cost on the customer’s end by shipping straight to the buyer.

Thus, all Nolah mattresses are made to order and exclusively sold on their website. If that worries you because you’re a fussy sleepy who likes to test out a bed before you commit to it then fear not; Nolah offers their customers a 120-night trial period, meaning that you can return your mattress to them at any point during your first four months if you aren’t satisfied.

The best way to sum up the key points of this Nolah Mattress review is by putting them into a highlights list, which is exactly what I’ve done.

Highlights

Nolah Mattress Review
  • Mattresses are cooler than standard memory foam mattresses
  • 120-night mattress trial period
  • All mattresses are made in the United States
  • Free shipping
  • Payment plans available through Affirm

As you can tell by the name of this Nolah Mattress review, you’re primarily going to be learning about the company’s mattresses. However, that’s not all they sell. Standing side by side with their mattresses (virtually, of course) are bed frames and bedding products like sheets, pillows, mattress toppers, and duvets.

With regards to their bed frames (because you really should have one, unless you’re a tatami convert), here are the three that they offer:

  1. Nolah Mattress Platform Base: $299 for a twin size
  2. Nolah Mattress Ultimate Adjustable Smart Base: $999 for a twin size
  3. Nolah Mattress Adjustable Base with Headboard: $1,399 for a twin size (ON SALE, regular price is $1,599)

Nolah Mattress Review

Now that I’ve covered the brand from a glance and given you a lowdown of what their catalog encapsulates, it’s time for me to tell you about the namesake products of this Nolah Mattress review.

These are the five mattresses they sell and each one has its own distinguishing feature as if they’re a late-90s boy band, though I don’t think any of them can be labeled as the “bad boy.”

One thing I greatly appreciated about Nolah’s website is that they dedicated an entire webpage to compare the intricacies of each mattress. They placed their products beside each other so that you can see how they stack up regarding their firmness, thickness, materials, and more.

Nolah Mattress Original 10” Review

If you already think that you’re going to grab at least one product from this Nolah Mattress review but don’t want to get into the nitty gritty of each mattress, then consider the Nolah Mattress Original 10”.

Not only is this product their best-selling mattress, but it’s their most versatile, at least in the company’s eyes. It sits right in the middle of the firmness valley with Nolah giving it a 5 or 6 out of 10, so it’s the goldilocks of mattress feel.

Additionally, the Nolah Mattress Original 10” uses the brand’s patented AirFoam for a cooler night’s rest. Its Tencel cover adds to that cooling factor while providing a visually pleasant look. You might think that looks don’t matter much for a mattress, but there’s a reason why people don’t sleep on dirty-looking beds.

One happy customer wrote, “This is a great mattress. I did a ton of research and I’m glad I ended up with Nolah. It’s very comfortable, medium firm (for me), and I’ve been sleeping really well. Perfect for side sleeping and also great when I sleep on my back or stomach.

You can pick up the Nolah Mattress Original 10” now for only $899 because it’s on sale. Normally, it’d cost $1,149 for a twin size.

Nolah Mattress Signature 12” Review

If you have tension in your back, neck, or shoulders, then the Nolah Mattress Signature 12” may be for you. Nolah touts it as their best-pressure relieving bed, but it contains a few other features that set it apart from the pack.

The first of which is that it’s thicker and more cooling than the Nolah Mattress Original 10”. Both of those factors permit it to better contour to your body overnight. You can feel your physical being practically melt into it without worrying about it losing its shape.

It’s also a bit less firm than the prior item, with Nolah Mattress ranking it at a 4 out of 10. The benefit of that, besides the obvious appeal to sleepyheads who like soft mattresses, is that it’s less prone to transfer motion. This also makes the Nolah Mattress Signature 12” good for couples where one partner is prone to tossing and turning.

I will say that from the very first night, I’ve started remembering dreams. I believe that means I’m in a more restful sleep. And typically I used to take 90-minutes or longer to fall asleep. Now I’m falling asleep faster. Overall very happy with the comfort. “ said one Nolah Mattress reviewer.

If everything you’ve read about the Nolah Mattress Signature 12” sounds enticing, then you’ll love to know that it’s on sale. It usually sits at $1,599 but you can grab it now for $1,299.

Nolah Mattress Evolution 15” Review

The Nolah Mattress Evolution 15” was rated the Best Mattress for Spinal Alignment in 2022 by Sleep Foundation for its durability. This mattress uses Tri-Zone coils that provide a deeper level of support and comfort, catering to your body’s position without giving an inch.

It helps that this mattress is the thickest among all the products I’ve listed in this Nolah Mattress review. What might surprise you is that its thickness in no way impacts how much airflow it permits. In fact, the Nolah Mattress Evolution 15” is considered an ultra-high cooling bed because it uses graphite which can conduct heat naturally.

Considering that this mattress has five layers beneath it, that’s a bit surprising. But it’s those five layers of foam and coils (used in conjunction with one another) that allow the Nolah Mattress Evolution 15” to breathe and support you at the same time.

One buyer wrote, “I am a side sleeper, and I’m heavy. I guess that it snuck up on me how much my shoulders were hurting *all the time*. No more! And very little movement transfer. I don’t even notice my toddler getting in bed with us. The adjustable frame is fantastic.”

If you’re looking into this mattress then you’ll be happy to hear that it’s also on sale. Nolah Mattress has marked it down from $2,299 to $1,599.

Nolah Mattress Natural 11” Review

The penultimate item in this Nolah Mattress review demonstrates the brand’s inclusive nature. While foam and coils are great, they often are the best for people with dirt, dust, or pet allergies (I’m speaking from experience here). This mattress, however, is made from Talay latex and encased in an organic cotton case.

What that means is that the Nolah Mattress Natural 11” is hypoallergenic and firm. It’s one of Nolah’s firmest mattresses, sitting at a 7 out of 10 on their scale, though that in no way means it’s not comfortable.

One of the main reasons for that is that the Talay latex is more breathable than other hypoallergenic materials, so you shouldn’t be overheating at night. What you should be getting is a night of restful sleep.

A shopper wrote this about the Nolah Mattress Natural 11”. “After suffering through a cavern of collapsed memory foam in our old mattress, my husband and I have found the gentle firmness of our Nolah 11″ to be a rediscovery of refreshing sleep.

This product comes in at $1,199 since it’s currently on sale. Normally, it costs $1,899.

Nolah Mattress Nurture 10” Review

The last mattress I’m going to tell you about is for kids, and while children don’t quite know how to express their sleeping preferences, Nolah Mattress are confident that they’ll love the Nolah Mattress Nurture 10”.

It’s made from Talay latex so it’s good for kids with allergies or sensitive sinuses. It’s also great for kids as they age because it has two different surfaces. You can flip the mattress as your child grows older and needs either a more firm or more plush mattress.

The only downside to the Nolah Mattress Nurture 10” is that you may be spoiling them with a sleep that no other mattress can provide. But, in my opinion, that’s the best way to spoil them.

I love that there are NO harmful substances in this mattress. Just pure latex, organic cotton, wool and steel. I sleep soundly knowing my son has a safe place to lay his head each and every night. I love the perk of not having to worry if he were to ever have an accident in bed.” said one customer.

You can consider the Nolah Mattress Nurture 10” as an investment for your child because it can adapt to their growing preferences. You should invest in it while it’s on sale because it’s available for $999 rather than $1,499.

Nolah Mattress Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Nolah Mattress Review

Due to the interface on Nolah Mattress’ website, it was tough to gather an exact number of customer reviews for each product. That’s why I used shorthands and approximations, though I don’t think that over or underestimating the number of people who left reviews by a bit would alter the overall scores too much.

  • Nolah Mattress Evolution 15”: 4.9/5 stars based on dozens of pieces of customer feedback
  • Nolah Mattress Signature 12”: 4.8/5 stars based on dozens of pieces of customer feedback
  • Nolah Mattress Nurture 10”: 4.8/5 stars based on dozens of pieces of customer feedback
  • Nolah Mattress Original 10”: 4.7/5 stars based on dozens of pieces of customer feedback
  • Nolah Mattress Natural 11”: 4.7/5 stars based on dozens of pieces of customer feedback

You don’t need to be a statistician to see that those numbers are all impressive. However, only looking at Nolah Mattress’ website wouldn’t provide a full picture of what customers think about the brand. That’s why I also looked at customer reviews on other aggregate score sites. Here’s what I found.

  • Slumber Search: 4.6/5 stars based on more than 50 pieces of customer feedback
  • Knoji: 4.1/5 stars based on more than 50 pieces of customer feedback
  • Trust Pilot: 3.4/5 stars based on 2 pieces of customer feedback

The two most common compliments in Nolah Mattress reviews were directed toward the quality of the beds and the brand’s excellent service. One buyer summed it up perfectly by writing,

I love everything about this company and their products. Timely shipping. Fantastic mattress (I bought the original 10). The little notes and stickers they include in the box. The customer service. If I could give 6 stars out of 5, I would!

Plenty of folks found that the level of care Nolah Mattress put into their products and their efficiency were surprising given the brand’s low cost.

I shopped around and found Nolah. I love their 120-day guarantee and that they will donate to a local charity if you’re not happy with your mattress. The price was SO much better at $899 for an XL Twin. It’s as soft and supportive as the Tempurpedic. Very happy with my decision to purchase a Nolah,” wrote one customer.

I want to conclude this section with one final Nolah Mattress review that praised the brand’s ability to deliver a clean and painless shopping experience.

The whole Nolah experience was comfortable. Information on the website about the mattress was accurate. The shipping box was easy to manage. Now, the Nolah mattress is the most comfortable mattress in the house and everyone wants to sleep on it!
