About The Helm Clothing

The Helm Clothing Review

Finding the look that works for you is tough, but if your look is premised on pieces from high-end European brands, that can be even tougher. If you’re of the opinion that North American brands just don’t cater to your sophisticated fashion palate, then you need to check out this The Helm Clothing Review.

Helm Clothing carries many premium brands from around the globe for those men who find their casual and/or formal wardrobes to be a bit too. While it only operates out of a single store, The Helm has still managed to amass a well-dressed following of 2.8K on Facebook and 10.1K on Instagram.

But is this a store that a regular schmo looking to level up his fashion game can rely on, or is it just another one of those boutiques that only do business with the fabulously wealthy? This The Helm Clothing review will hopefully be able to help you make that distinction a bit easier by reviewing the store’s products, policies, promos and customer reviews.

Overview of The Helm Clothing

The Helm Clothing Review

Chad Helm got interested in fashion at a young age. He thought he’d found his way into the industry when he was offered a contract as a model in Greece, but when that opportunity went a bit sideways, he thought his fashion career had come to a premature end.

But a business trip to Milan several years later brought him back into the fold, and he had the opportunity to work with some of Italy’s best and brightest designers for a couple of years. When he came back to Edmonton, Alberta, he quickly became disenchanted with what North American menswear shops had to offer, and he became determined to do something about it.

After acquiring a business degree, Chad launched The Helm in Edmonton in 2012 with his friend and business partner Brad Kahler. Every season, the store curates seasonal offerings from the finest brands across the Atlantic, introducing its customers to sharp new looks that are still approachable.

But it’s in the area of personalized service that Helm really excels. Its services include, but are not limited to, in-house tailoring, custom fits, after-hours service, in-home wardrobe audits, virtual consultations, and even access to private fashion shows.

We’ve provided a tailored look at what this store has to offer in our The Helm Clothing review, but let’s get started with some of the broad points before we get down to the broad details. Here’s some of the advantages you can get when you shop with The Helm:

The Helm Clothing Review

Shirts and trousers, coats, suits, and ties—whatever your fancy-lad needs require, The Helm has got you covered. We’ve spotlighted some of the store’s recent bestselling items in our The Helm Clothing review below.

The Helm Clothing Portuguese Flannel Grey Wool Overshirt Review

Casual chic is the name of the game with the Portuguese Flannel Grey Wool Overshirt. This is a particularly great piece for that in-between summer-to-fall transition: you can wear it unbuttoned to nicely dress up your dressed-down, simple-but-spiffy denim-and-T-shirt get-up, or button it up when that autumn wind comes rolling in.

Unfortunately, at the time of writing this The Helm Clothing review, the Portuguese Flannel Grey Wool Overshirt is sold out. If it comes back in stock, you can get it for $314 in all sizes, from small to XXL.

The Helm Clothing Luigi Bianchi Brown Overcoat Review

The Luigi Bianchi Brown Overcoat is minimalist luxury at its finest. Made from a cashmere and virgin wool blend, this sleek coat classily offsets the light, brown-beige fabric with black buttons and under-collar trim. Available in sizes 46 to 56, it’ll run you $1,267; note that this item is eligible for Afterpay.

The Helm Clothing Portuguese Flannel Black Flannel Shirt Review

The Portuguese Flannel Black Flannel Shirt looks as comfortable as it feels without sacrificing sharpness. Made from brushed flannel cotton, it’s got a casual vibe while still giving you a trim, stylish silhouette. It’s dry clean-only, comes in sizes S to XXL, and retails for $155.

The Helm Clothing Alex Mill Garment Dyed Sweatshirt Review

Crewneck sweaters are a staple in every guy’s wardrobe, but the Alex Mill Garment Dyed Sweatshirt makes simplicity into a statement with its unique orange hue. The casual and cozy drape is accented by the structured look of ribbed cuffs and collar, as well as by the detailing at the neck. It’s available in sizes M to XXL for $147

The Helm Clothing Luigi Bianchi Brown Check Suit Review

The Luigi Bianchi Brown Check Suit gives you the perfect crisp fall look with its muted, textured check pattern and high-notched lapels. Made from virgin wool and silk, it would look great with a simple black turtleneck for that casual-elegance vibe. It comes in sizes 48 to 56, and will put you out $1,267.

The Helm Clothing Helm Collection Red Floral Microprint Tie Review

We’ve talked a lot in this The Helm Clothing review about combining casual with classiness, but let’s be real: sometimes, the suit-and-tie combo is just a necessity.

The Italian-made The Helm Collection Red Floral Microprint Tie will give your get-up a subtle pop of color with its subdued, maroon-adjacent shade, while the pattern finds a nice midway between the floral and the geometric. Made from pure silk, it sells for $155.

The Helm Clothing Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

The Helm Clothing Review

While the customer reviews that this The Helm Clothing review was able to find were few and far between, what we did dig up was about 99.99% positive. On the Helm Facebook page, the store scores a perfect 5/5 stars from 21 reviews.

Obviously, the major draw for customers is the wide selection of quality clothes. As one Facebook reviewer put it, Helm is “Hands down the best menswear store I have been to. The Helm carries a carefully curated selection of brands and pieces that all go together. I have little to no need to buy casual or dress clothing anywhere else.”

On Google, The Helm holds a rating of 4.8/5 stars from 58 reviews, several of which mentioned the excellent and informed customer service as another prime attraction. As one commenter said of his experience:

Zack knew pretty much exactly what I wanted, found it and then measured me up within the space of half an hour. Very professional and very nice space oh, and the shipping is excellent too.”

The combination of quality clothing, knowledgeable staff, and elegant atmosphere has kept customers coming back to Helm. One of the 15 reviews that gave the store 5/5 stars on Canadainf.com said:

Best gentleman’s clothing store in town. They carry understated and unique quality garments. Their staff is incredible and really know the producers inside and out. They truly help style you. Their custom suit fitting is amazing and turns out better than expected. Worth the price and they truly offer a luxury shopping experience which is unique in Edmonton.

The long and the short of it is that, given the nature of its business and the price points of its offerings, The Helm has to virtually guarantee a top-flight customer experience. And from what we’ve seen, they’ve held up their end of the bargain with style.
