About Act+Acre

Act+Acre Review

For Act+Acre, it’s not just about hair care, it’s about hair wellness—and that starts at the scalp. Developed by board-certified trichologist Helen Reavey, the brand addresses the root of damaged, thinning, and dull strands, offering a line of results-driven skincare for your scalp.

With a range of products, tools, and sets that focus on scalp health, Act+Acre has launched several must-have products like the Stem Cell Scalp Serum, the #1 best selling scalp growth serum.

But that’s not where their in-demand products end. The Dermaroller Growth System has had an 18,000+ waitlist, the Scalp Renew Exfoliator had a 12,000+ waitlist, and the Growth System had a 5,000+ waitlist.

Impressed yet? Simply search the brand on TikTok and you’ll see how many people are obsessed with its products or consult publications like Hypebae and InStyle. And speaking of buzz-worthy pubs, Act+Acre was the first ever scalp care brand launched with Vogue Exclusive.

What’s their secret and how can you get in on it? For starters, check out my Act+Acre review. I’ll tell you everything you need to know about the brand to help you decide if it’s got what you need.

Overview Of Act+Acre

Act+Acre Review

Launched in 2017 by celebrity hairstylist and board-certified trichologist Helen Reavey, Act+Acre was born from the need to do things differently. So different, in fact, that it’s the world’s first Cold Processed® hair wellness brand to focus entirely on your scalp. That’s the crucial place for hair growth and health and is often overlooked by hair care brands.

With a passion for clean hair care, Helen and her husband Colm actually created and patented their Cold Processed® technique, opting to preserve the nutrient-rich properties of the plant-based ingredients in their formulas. Turns out, many brands out there use heat to extract their oils, but this damages nutrient potency, ultimately leading to less effective products.

Act+Acre’s line is free from toxic ingredients like sulfates, silicones, parabens, and phthalates to name but a few, and its products are made with 90% less energy thanks to the Hyperbaric Chamber used in the Cold Processed Method (as compared to the heat-pressed method).

Since day one, Act+Acre has been on a mission to bring your hair back to life and they get that each of our journeys looks a little different. For that reason, they’ve recently launched a quiz to help you find your perfect solution.

Now that you know a bit more about the brand and why it’s so loved, I’ll move my Act+Acre review right along. The highlights are up next.

Act+Acre has released a fantastic selection of hair care formulas, styling products, tools, and accessories over the years, all designed to help your hair look and feel its best. You can shop for specific products or choose a routine, but I recommend taking the quiz for more personalized options.

To give you an idea of the kinds of products they make, I’ll dedicate the next section of my Act+Acre review to a few from their best-selling collection.

Act+Acre Review

One of the things I really love about Act+Acre products is that they all have been tested in clinical studies. You’ll see the stats for their bestsellers below which include a mix of nourishing formulas and inclusive systems. Let’s dive in.

Act+Acre Stem Cell Scalp Serum Review

Meet the scalp serum with the 18,000+ waitlist. Featured in InStyle, StyleCaster, and Elite Daily, the Act+Acre Stem Cell Scalp Serum is undoubtedly the brand’s most popular product, but why?

Formulated with Swiss apple stem cells to protect your hair follicles from premature thinning and shedding, this high-potency serum lengthens your hair’s natural growth phase while hydrating your scalp. Buy it once for $86 or subscribe to get it for $69.

Act+Acre Dermaroller Hair Growth System Set Review

The Act+Acre Dermaroller Hair Growth System Set takes the tried and true skincare method of micro-needling and applies it to your scalp. Helping to speed up your hair growth and reduce hair loss and thinning, you should see results in 6-8 weeks with consistent use.

Need proof? The Dermaroller was featured by Hypebae and in Act+Acre’s clinical trials, 91% of users said their scalp felt nourished, while 89% said their scalp felt and looked healthier. Another 89% said their hair health improved overall.

By creating micro-channels in your scalp, the roller increases the absorption of the topical serum, revving up growth and increasing results. The set includes a 2.2 oz bottle of the Stem Cell Serum and a Dermaroller with a case for $105.

What customers say: “Hair is growing and I feel like I’m getting more out of my scalp serum in terms of product penetration. More bang for your buck, makes sense!” – Anonymous, actandacre.com

Act+Acre Scalp Relief System Review

Including all of the essentials required to keep your scalp in tip-top shape, the Scalp Relief System addresses issues like dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, or psoriasis. The system includes three products that work hand-in-hand to hydrate your scalp, remove excess build-up, and rebalance your scalp’s microbiome.

Including the best-selling (and often sold out) Scalp Renew Serum highly recommended by the folks at InStyle, the Scalp Detox, and the Stem Cell Serum, this highly effective kit gives new life to the top of your head.

In a four-week clinical study for the Scalp Renew Serum, 95% of participants said their build-up was reduced and 87% said their irritation was soothed.

Overall, 85% of participants said their scalp felt instantly refreshed. If all of that sounds like heaven to you, you can pick up the set for $145.

Act+Acre Before and After

Act+Acre Review

Act+Acre was developed to do you one better in terms of haircare, so not only have their products been clinically tested and proven effective, but there are actually quite a few before and after photos on their website as well.

In general, customers reported a more balanced, less irritated scalp, hair growth, hair thickness, and healthier looking and feeling hair.

Who Is Act+Acre For?

Act+Acre Review

Act+Acre is for men and women looking for better hair care. With a range of clean, vegan shampoos, conditioners, serums, and even styling products, these clinically-tested formulas address the big picture of hair health instead of quick-fix issues (like shine and softness).

Act+Acre Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Act+Acre Review

I’ve included lots of feedback for you throughout my Act+Acre review because, as someone with damaged hair who’s tried literally everything, I know how important results are when trying a new line.

So far, you’ve read what’s available on the brand’s website, and I’ll include a few more excerpts here, but I also want to dive into the wide web to see what other kinds of feedback I can bring up. Let’s take a look at the ratings for their best-sellers first:

  • Dermaroller Growth System: 4.7/5 stars, 146 reviews
  • Stem Cell Scalp Serum: 4.7/5 stars, 640 reviews
  • Essentials Set: 4.7/5 stars, 615 reviews

There are so many awesome reviews for these products, it’s hard to pick just one to highlight here. But since the Stem Cell Scalp Serum looks to be one of their most popular products, I’ll include one Act+Acre review that mentions its effects:

“I haven’t been using this product for very long, but I am already seeing less hair in my shower drain. And my stylist has noticed how much better my hair looks.” Others also mention how soothing the oil feels on their scalp, reducing itching without causing their hair to feel oily. I guess that’s the difference trichologist-developed products make.

The next Act+Acre review we’ll look at comes from ThingTesting. There, the brand was awarded 4/5 stars from 28 users. One user wrote:

“Tried Act+Acre earlier this year and am definitely hooked. The Cold Processed Scalp Detox has helped my scalp health tremendously, with noticeable difference even after just a week. Super nice feel to the packaging and the other products I’ve tried.”

There’s definitely a luxe look to Act+Acre packaging that matches the level of quality of the products inside. Users on ThingTesting loved the products overall, many saying they would recommend them.

So far, there’s a lot of great feedback for this brand, but let’s take a look at one final Act+Acre review. After hitting up My Subscription Addiction to see if they did a walkthrough of what the products are like to use, I scrolled to the bottom and saw 11 5-star comments from folks who are crazy about their products. One read:

“I am 59 years old, so was experiencing the dry lifeless look that happens to older hair. I began using the Act+Acre system about six months ago. I get SO MANY compliments about how pretty my hair is. It is naturally curly and my curls have come back to life. My hair is soft, shiny, curly, bouncy, and young-looking again.”

The same Act+Acre review also called it a miracle and I totally feel that. The feeling of finding a product that actually changes your hair for the better is rare and pretty miraculous these days. While not everyone who uses Act+Acre products experiences miraculous results, the majority do and say the higher price tag is worth it.

Is Act+Acre Legit?

To put it simply, yes, I wholeheartedly believe their products are worth it.
