Overview of Burt’s Bees Baby

Burt's Bees Baby Review

To discover the story behind the brand, I had to go back to the origin story of the company that spawned it.

The original Burt’s Bees was founded by Burt Shavitz and Roxanne Quimby in the early ‘80s. They based their brand on one important premise: we take from nature, so we should protect and nurture it. Based on this philosophy, the company makes natural beauty and skincare products.

In 2007, Clorox bought Burt’s Bees and in 2012 they launched Burt’s Bees Baby to continue in the spirit of its namesake company. Using only organic materials, the company produces soft baby clothes that take considerably less water to make and are manufactured in factories that use solar energy.

The Burt’s Bees Baby pajamas won the 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 Cribsie Award for Snuggliest & Softest PJs. It was also recently named Treehugger’s 2022 best overall organic clothes for babies.

Before this Burt’s Bees Baby review jumps into a few of this American company’s most popular clothes, let’s take a look at some of the highlights of the brand.

Highlights

  • Sustainably-made clothes
  • Award-winning pajamas
  • Machine washable
  • 100% organic fabric with recycled polyester buttons and thread
  • No chemicals used

Burt’s Bees Baby Review

Burt’s Bees Baby sells their own brand of baby essentials including clothing, bedding, and bath supplies. For the purpose of this Burt Bees Baby review, I’ll stick to their clothing—in particular, their award-winning and bestselling PJs.

All of the clothes are made from GOTS certified 100% organic cotton with 100% recycled polyester thread and buttons made from recycled bottles. They are machine washable and have hand-painted prints

The fabric is particularly soft and also a bit stretchy, which allows different sizes of children to fit in them comfortably. Like snowflakes, every baby is unique.

Burt’s Bees Baby Twinkle Bee Star Print Organic Baby Pajamas Review

Surround your little star with stars and bees in the Burt’s Bees Twinkle Bee Star Print Organic Baby Pajamas. In blossom or midnight, these award-winning jammies have a snug fit to keep your baby from catching onto things as they explore their environment. While the pink color is quite feminine, the blue is pretty gender neutral.

On top of the soft material, the non-slip feet is a great feature. The whole footpad is covered in a sole pattern with a bee in it for a truly non-slip experience. This is very important at a time when your baby is learning to walk.

Your 12-to-24-months little star can shine in these PJs for around $15.

Burt’s Bees Baby Cascading Butterflies Organic Baby Pajamas Review

Also a part of the award-winning Burt’s Bees Baby PJs line, the Cascading Butterflies Organic Baby Pajamas hope to invoke peaceful dreams of floating with the butterflies. Although butterflies lean towards the feminine, in seaglass (light blue) color, they work for boys as well.

The signature non-slip ‘bee grip’ pattern is on the footies. The zip sits diagonally across your baby’s body for comfort and easy access. There are no buttons or snaps to fumble with at night, except the snap-tab at the neckline to protect the zipper from little fingers. Sizes come in 12-to-24 months. Your baby can flutter into these jam ja

ms for about $15.

Burt’s Bees Baby French Terry Twas the Night Fair Isle Organic Baby Hooded Jumpsuit Review

Your one-of-a-kind baby will melt your heart in this snowflake patterned French Terry Twas the Night Fair Isle Organic Baby Hooded Jumpsuit. Don’t let the ridiculously long name deter you, this cardinal red one-piece, with gray wrist cuffs and knee pads for contrast, is adorable.

The diaper line snaps are nickel-free, making them eco-friendly. And this perfectly matches the eco-friendly ideals of the company.

This jumpsuit has a Henley Placket neckline (essentially a collarless polo shirt). The hoodie and French terry fabric help keep your newborn to two year old warm and comfy. Slip this on your baby boy or girl for $10 (originally $20).

Burt’s Bees Baby Watercolor Chevron Organic Cotton Toddler Snug Fit Pajamas Review

Although the name Burt’s Bees Baby implies only baby stuff, there was such a demand for their award-winning jammies to be available for older children, that they’ve met this demand. On an aside, they also have family pajamas.

The Burt’s Bees Baby Watercolor Chevron Organic Cotton Toddler Snug Fit Pajamas are so stylish and comfortable that your child won’t want to get out of them. These two-piece PJs are covered in a chevron pattern that features different shades of blue, with a blue star color at the ankles and wrist cuffs. Besides fashion, this pattern has another function of hiding stains.

These jammies are intended for your one to seven-year-old boy, so there are no footsies. They are priced at around $18.

Who Is Burt’s Bees Baby For?

Burt's Bees Baby Review

Burt’s Bees Baby is for any parent of a newborn to seven-year-old. The brand is especially good for people who are interested in the environment. By using organic cotton and recycling the water, Burt’s Bees Baby saves 56 gallons of water per bodysuit. Organic cotton requires a lot less water to grow than regular cotton and is also softer.

Burt’s Bees Baby also uses recycled plastic for their thread. They use the equivalent of six 500ml bottles for every ten bodysuits. The company doesn’t use any chemicals in the fabric or in the prints. This means that all their pajamas for one-year-olds and up must fit snugly, since their clothes don’t have harmful fire-retardant chemicals.

Babies and children are all built a bit differently. The Burt’s Bees Baby clothes have some stretch to accommodate most of these differences, so they don’t sag or compress. The prices of these clothes are pretty accessible, so anyone can afford to dress their children in them.

Burt’s Bees Baby Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Burt's Bees Baby Review

Next up, I’ll check out the Burt’s Bees Baby reviews from actual customers. I did a search through the usual sites and didn’t find many customer reviews.

I also found no reviews or red flags to worry about on Trustpilot and the Better Business Bureau. So this is a good sign that this brand sells quality products.

Let’s take a look at some of the ratings on the brand’s website:

  • Twinkle Bee Star Print Organic Baby Pajamas – 4.1/5 stars from 343 reviews
  • Cascading Butterflies Organic Baby Pajamas – 4/5 stars from 287 reviews
  • French Terry Twas the Night Fair Isle Organic Baby Hooded Jumpsuit – 4.1/5 stars from 63 reviews
  • Watercolor Chevron Organic Cotton Toddler Snug Fit Pajamas – 4.6/5 stars from 283 reviews

On Amazon, the brand has a 4.6/5 star rating based on over 1,253 reviews. A customer left a glowing review of the Twinkle Bee Pajamas. They mention most of the great features of these award-winning pajamas: “Out of many brands- Burt’s Bees really are the best. We’ve tried so many different brands of pajama/ sleepers for our 11 month old.”

“There’s a reason why these from burt’s bees have won awards- they actually fit true to size, material is soft, the color doesn’t fade in the washer (or dryer!), they don’t shrink to an unwearable weird fit, the non slip grip on the bottoms actually work, and most important to me, no buttons! Just a great working zipper!”

This customer on the Burt’s Bees Baby website loves the French Terry Twas the Night Pajamas but was disappointed about one thing—they only come in baby and toddler sizes. She wrote:

amazing quality and adorable. This outfit is absolutely adorable, high quality and comfortable. We have gotten so many comments on it. The only downside is I wish that they made matching clothes for older siblings, I love their clothes so much.”

With such high ratings and enthusiastic reviews, I can tell how much parents are loving these Burt’s Bees baby clothes. And with the lack of negative comments, I can predict this brand’s popularity will continue to grow.

Is Burt’s Bees Baby Worth It?

Burt's Bees Baby Review

So, is the Burt’s Bee Baby brand worth your money? Yes, it is. Their clothes are reasonably priced with superior softness. There is a reason that their pajamas won snuggliest and softest awards for four years in a row.

On top of that, the brand’s mission of lessening their environmental impact, for a brighter future, should align with most parents’ values.

When reading the few low-scoring Burt Bees Baby reviews, the main complaint seems to be that the PJs were too small. The company explains the need for a snug fit when no flame retardant chemicals are used.

So, on that note, be sure to try every Burt’s Bees Baby item on your child before washing it or removing the tags. Speaking about washing, this brand’s clothes are machine washable. The colors don’t run and the fabric doesn’t shrink like regular cotton does. The sales section and discount offers are an added bonus.
