If I could wrap up this DraftKings review in one sentence, this would be it; betting^[1] makes sports fun. Obviously, not if you’re playing them, but if you’re a casual fan (at best), then the flailing of sweaty men and women fumbling over themselves to win a silly game that won’t do anything to better the world can seem a little juvenile.

Is that a bit of an insulting take? Yeah, and I’m trying to be insulting, because there are people who hold that opinion before they become invested in sports.

Once they have a reason to care about watching sports then those snide remarks fall by the wayside. Maybe sports companies should allow players to unionize and maybe they could donate some of their ridiculous incomes to helping the planet, but none of that matters when you have $20 riding on Lebron getting 32 points in a game.

Betting makes sports games as dramatic for you as they are for the players. It doesn’t matter how much money you put in the pot, it’s the psychological investment that counts.

Soon, that investment turns into a genuine interest in the players, their stories, and the sport itself. Sometimes all you need is a little push and betting can be that little push.

DraftKings was founded in one of the cities with the deepest sports affection in America; Boston, Massachusetts. Jason Robins, Paul Liberman, and Matt Kalish turned season-long fantasy sports into daily fantasy sports so that players could always keep up with the action and cash out more quickly.

Since their formation in 2012, they’ve expanded to over 8 countries after receiving a huge investment from Major League Baseball which saw the potential in DraftKings. It’s safe to say that they were right.

If you know how betting works then you can skip this section of the DraftKings review. However, if you’re totally new to the concept of betting, then you may be wondering how services like these are legal.

You may ask yourself what happened to your beautiful house, your beautiful wife, and that large automobile as you potentially bargained them all away for a chance at bigger winnings.

The thing is, fantasy sports (which is what DraftKings offers) is seen as a skill-based game rather than a luck-based game by most independent states. Whether or not you agree with that is a whole other story. We all know someone who has grimaces about their one buddy who “got lucky” in their fantasy football league and holds a grudge to this day.

The first refers to a user’s choice to opt-out of gaming and betting for a set amount of time if they feel like they’re in over their head. If the kitchen is getting too hot, you can step out of it, no ifs, ands, or buts. 

You can also set up limits beforehand if you know that you like to bet big in the heat of the moment. You can limit how much money you deposit on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. The fact that DraftKings allows you to make these decisions ahead of time with a clear head is refreshing. Clearly, they want you to have fun instead of stressing yourself out over a couple of sports games.

Before I continue onwards, allow me to tell you a bit about DraftKings’ highlights.

Also of note is that you can bet on esports. That’s right gamers, you can finally rejoice. DraftKings Sportsbook allows users to bet on Counterstrike: Global Offensive, League of Legends, and DoTA 2. 

One customer left this remark on the DraftKings Sportsbook page. “I love DraftKings! Back when I was still just being introduced to the world of sports betting, it gave me a way to easily and securely get my feet wet while also enjoying it!”

DraftKings Casino Review

The next option I’m going to look at in this DraftKings review is their casino counterpart. Through the DraftKings Casino, users can play virtual casino games in the app or on their desktops.

I’ll lay out the types of games you can play in the next section of this DraftKings review, but the main appeal, to me at least, is that you can have as much human interaction as you want. You can play with a live casino dealer in real-time and other players through webcam and microphones. It’s the closest you can get to the casino experience without stepping inside one.

Alternatively, you can remain faceless behind your keyboard if you so please. Nobody is going to judge you.

This is what one customer said about DraftKings Casino. “This app is the best layout of all the casino apps I play, the games are always updated, and the customer service is top-notch.”

I can’t talk about DraftKings without talking about games, so let’s get into those. I’m not talking about baseball or basketball; I’m talking about the betting and games they offer in their apps.

• Pools – you select multiple outcomes and place your bets against other players

Speaking of apps, you may be wondering what those are like. They have three different apps, DraftKings Daily Fantasy, DraftKings Casino, and Draftkings Sportsbook. Each one is free to download and sign up for. The apps are the most sensible way to use DraftKings because of how much the company has invested in their performance. They’re reportedly smooth and silky.

How Does DraftKings Work

I’ve already outlined the process for signing up for one of the apps a couple of times in this DraftKings review, so I’m assuming that you have that information down. After you sign up and enter your banking information, you then deposit a set amount of money into DraftKings. That’s your money to play with. You can bet it any way you’d like.

Let’s jump forward to the future after you’ve (hopefully) made a couple of successful bets and have won some money. First of all, congratulations! It’s now time for you to cash out. You can request a withdrawal at any time for free but you must take out at least $20. 

You’ll receive your money at varying times depending on which banking option you have set up. For example, PayPal requires only 1 to 3 business days to receive your money and give it to you while debit or credit cards can take 3 to 6 business days.

Banking Options at DraftKings

DraftKings offers a wealth of banking options. You can sign up using a debit or a credit card, an eWallet, or through online banking by connecting your bank account.

These options vary based on the state since each one has different laws regarding betting, but DraftKings doesn’t charge withdrawal or deposit fees anywhere. 

The company also abides by the maximum limit you have on your card. That means that if you cannot withdraw more than $500 per day, for example, on your debit card, and that card is connected to your DraftKings account, then you cannot withdraw or deposit over that amount through the app.

DraftKings Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

One user on the Google Play Store explained how DraftKings turned her into a sports fan, though she held some reservations about the app itself. 

“Exciting interactive app: I’ve never really followed football until joining this sight. Now I can’t wait for football days/nights to start. I do wish there was a way to break down what players you have going per team. That way it would be easier to check which players/games are doing well and which are not. The slide bar is good for keeping track of where you are in comparison to others but it’s hard to constantly be checking each lineup to see who’s performing.”

Another customer left this short but sweet DraftKings review on the iOS App Store. “Site is easy to use, has good payouts and options. Depositing and withdrawing funds is also painless.”

Seeing as how I played a high school sport once upon a time, I was able to gather firsthand DraftKings reviews from real people who used the app (and also once played sports in high school). 

The main appeal of DraftKings to them was their promos. Simply put, users felt that they have better promos than other betting apps. Some of these promos were as lofty as to bring in 50% profit boosts on certain games. That’s a number that’s high enough to make anyone’s eyebrows raise. 

DraftKings’ Super Odds Boosts were also more likely to hit according to the folks I spoke with. Thus, fans enjoyed DraftKings more because they felt like there were better chances of them making more money.

The frequency of DraftKings’ promos was also highlighted by users as being a major plus. One commenter compared the brand favorably to other promotions, writing “The frequency is the main appeal. Other books are like one every few weeks. DK (DraftKings) will have like five new ones a day.”

Users also praised the brand’s legitimacy and ease of use. Essentially, DraftKings lived up to their goal of accessibility and safety. 

The apps were particularly praised, as you can tell by the high scores they generated on the app stores. DraftKings reviewers said that they were effortless and intuitive while also being the nicest to look at out of all the booking apps.

Sadly, there were many DraftKings reviews that spoke about the company’s lack of customer service. I read reviews from people who said that DraftKings did not respond to attempts to contact them.

You can sign up for the DraftKings loyalty program, Dynasty Rewards, just by signing up with them. You’ll earn crowns (the program’s currency) on most tasks through the app. Those crowns can go towards travel expenses, merchandise, tokens, gift cards, and more.

Is DraftKings Legit?

Though there were customer reports of lacking customer service, everything else I learned about the brand over the course of writing this DraftKings review leads me to believe that they’re a safe and legit company to bet with.

Is DraftKings Worth It?

I think that DraftKings is one of the better betting and gaming companies right now due to their lack of withdrawal and deposit fees, short payment period, and frequent promos.
