About Eargo

Eargo Review

Hearing aid companies love to brag about how discreet their devices are, but few actually are. Eargo hearing aids aren’t just discreet, they’re virtually invisible, a design that’s made possible through a teeny tiny rechargeable battery.

Fitted with Flexi tips for more comfortable wear, their hearing aids pop in and out of sight and stay out of mind, delivering natural, clear, crisp sound so you can go on with living your life.

Using Sound Match technology through an app allows for further personalization to ensure you hear in a way that makes sense for you.

Founded in 2010 by ear, nose, and throat surgeon Florent Michel, his son Raphel, and Daniel Shen, Eargo is no stranger to the limelight. Their nature-inspired, smart design has landed them features in noteworthy publications like Forbes and Healthline

3 Best-Selling Eargo Products

Eargo offers 4 different models of discreet, smart hearing aids. Virtually invisible each delivers crisp, clear sound so you can forget you’re even wearing them.

All hearing aids come as a set of 2 and include a case, charging cord, adapter, cleaning tools, tips, and caps.

You’ll also receive free access to the Eargo app and lifetime customer support. I’ll go into more depth about the differences between their models below in this Eargo review.

Eargo 7 Review

Eargo’s latest release, the Eargo 7, is serious about sound. Using breakthrough noise reduction technology, many will notice listening feels more natural, especially in noisy environments. Thanks to the self-fitting Sound Match functionality in the companion app, setup is a breeze.

Like all of the brand’s hearing aids, these are relatively invisible. They slip right into your ear canal out of sight, measuring under ¾”. Eargo’s removable petal tips have a special design that’s made to feel more natural – they help noises sound more natural too.

With up to 16 hours of battery life, when it’s time to take them out, pull on the transparent tab. While it isn’t completely possible for a hearing aid to be invisible, these come pretty close.

Other smart features include a removable mic cap for easy cleaning and water resistance tested to an IPX7 rating.

Sold? Right now, you can get the Eargo 7 for $2,650 (normally $2,950).

Eargo 6 Review

For fuss-free hearing, try the Eargo 6. They automatically adjust to your environment and have a water resistance rating of IPX7. Wear with confidence while exercising or in rainy weather.

Small and comfortable, these powerful little devices make the most of the sounds around you as you move from place to place. Go from your quiet home to the office to the noisy coffee shop and enjoy a natural, smooth sound that adjusts to the soundscape around you.

While wearing them, you’ll experience noise reduction and amplified speech, and since they make adjustments every 10-30 milliseconds, you’ll never miss a beat.

Pick up the Eargo 6 for $2,450.

What customers say: “I’ve used other in ear hearing devices and the sound quality is much better with the Eargos.” – Joe D., Eargo.com

Eargo 5 Review

When it launched Eargo 5 was the brand’s smallest hearing aid yet (Eargos 6 and 7 have the same size and form factor as 5). It fits in your ear canal secretly, tucking out of the way without the need for adjustments or second thoughts.

With improved sound quality and noise reduction, the 5 was launched after 5 years of development, packing high-quality hearing into one tiny package.

As with the other Eargo devices, this one syncs with an app to give you full control over how you hear the world. When they run out of juice, pop them in the convenient travel case. Since they’re magnetized, there’s no chance of them coming detached during travel. Smart.

Get two devices for $1,950.

What customers say: “The hearing aids truly do fit comfortably and discretely in my ears and the recharging package is very user friendly.” – Fred E., Eargo.com

The Eargo Difference

Eargo Review

Why choose Eargo over another hearing aid company? Quite a few reasons, actually, and I’ll outline them all next in this Eargo review.

  1. Design: Made to be invisible from start to finish, your hearing loss won’t be at the forefront of your mind. Their hearing aids are made to fit inside your ear, not over it. They are very discreet and rechargeable with up to 16 hours on a single charge.
  2. Sound quality: Eargos adjust to your life. They optimize your sound in every environment.
  3. Support: Eargo’s hearing professionals are always available to help. As long as you own Eargos, their team is here to support you.
  4. Education & Screening: Take the free online hearing screening and get answers to your questions.
  5. App control: Adjust your sound preferences so you always hear the way you want to.

Eargo Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Eargo Review

Because they were created with years of research, it’s not really a question of if Eargo works as much as it is about the kinds of results their hearing aids can bring and the service the company provides.

This section of my Eargo review will focus on the latter. We’ll look at ratings from the brand’s site first then venture into some comments as of May 2023:

  • Eargo 6: 4.4/5 stars, 452 reviews
  • Eargo 5: 4.4/5 stars, 235 reviews
  • Eargo Neo HiFi: 4.5/5 stars, 1315 reviews
  • Eargo Max (discontinued): 4.5/5 stars, 980 reviews

In the comments for the Eargo 6, one customer wrote, “Great service, Great people to work with right from the start. Explain everything I needed to know how to wear, clean, changing parts. Super happy I research everything the first time i wore hearing aids. Ty very much for everything.

Many of the Eargo reviews I came across on the company’s site mention excellent service and that’s super important when it comes to hearing aids.

Though the setup process isn’t overly complicated, if you’re new to these devices, you’ll likely have questions. It’s great to know that Eargo’s staff is there to answer.

On Consumer Affairs, the brand has a 4.5/5-star score based on 150 ratings. One Eargo review there had all the relevant details:

They have fantastic customer service support, particularly after I decided to go with them. And when I got the product, they were very responsive. They were calling me to make sure it was working and that I was getting used to having the device inside my ear. I also had a direct contact with the audiologist that was assigned to me and I found that to be excellent.

Again, excellent service looks to be standard for this company and that’s further exemplified through their A- score on the Better Business Bureau. There, they also have a 4/5 star rating based on 160 reviews – a good sign they resolve issues promptly if they arise.

Very happy with the devices … they help a lot. I’ve been able to turn TV way down, for one thing. They are very comfortable, and the customer support is outstanding. Highly recommend,” one shopper wrote in their Eargo review on the BBB.

What can we learn from this feedback? That Eargo hearing aids are incredibly beneficial and that the company is a dream to shop with.

Is Eargo Legit?

Eargo Review

Nothing I found in this feedback for this Eargo review would make me think otherwise. The brand delivers excellent quality products that work as advertised.

Is Eargo Worth It?

Eargo Review

Eargo hearing aids are not sound amplification devices but FDA-registered class II hearing aids. They were developed after years of research and specially designed to fit comfortably in your ear.

I like their modern design, but more so, I like how many positive testimonials about their quality I found online. While these hearing aids certainly aren’t super cheap, they definitely are worth it and Eargo offers monthly payment plans if you need them.

How can I tell if I have hearing loss?

Hearing loss can come on gradually and you might not realize you are experiencing it. Here are some subtle signs of hearing loss:

  • You turn up the TV or music higher than others prefer
  • You think others are mumbling
  • You ask people to repeat themselves often
  • You lean forward to hear
  • You cannot hear properly in noisy environments (ie. a busy cafe)

Do I need a hearing test to order Eargos?

Eargo offers hearing screenings if you have not already had a hearing test. If you have had a hearing test, speak to one of their Personal Hearing Guides about whether or not their devices are right for you.

Eargo hearing aids are designed for those with mild to moderate high-frequency hearing loss.

Are Eargos the right solution for my hearing loss?

You might be wondering if Eargo is a hearing aid or an amplifier. Eargo hearing aids are designed for adults with mild to moderate high-frequency hearing loss

They help with sound clarity, not more volume. This type of hearing loss is caused by noise exposure and aging, and when you have them in, you’ll experience sound more clearly.
