If you’re looking for forward-thinking and easy-on-the-eyes e-bikes, look no further than Heybike. The company evolved from a simple vision a few years ago – why not make commuting easier for those who don’t want to pollute the air with gasoline?
As such, their bikes feature powerful electric motors, long-lasting lithium-ion batteries, and user-friendly control systems along with lightweight frames and visual designs based on sleek lines, ergonomic considerations, and functional features. Nowhere is that more evident than the Heybike Tyson, the brand’s foldable class 3 e-bike.
My Heybike Tyson review will look at one of the brand’s most exciting new products from various angles. Keep reading to find out about its specs, what it’s made out of, what customers think about it, and more. I’ll begin by filling you in on its highlights.
- Battery lasts for up to 5 hours
- Can travel 55 miles on a single charge
- App connectivity to track route and fitness
- Includes safety features like headlights and hydraulic disk brakes
- 30-day trial period
Why You Should Trust Us
Our mission is to help you make better, more informed purchase decisions.
Our team spends hours researching, consulting with medical experts, gathering insight from expert professionals, reviewing customer feedback, and analyzing products to provide you with the information you need.
This bike may as well be Santa Claus with how many gifts it gives to customers. I’ll detail the best features in this segment of my Heybike Tyson review.
The Heybike Tyson is classified as a Class 3 e-bike, so it’s clearly a powerhouse. These types of bikes aren’t allowed on bike paths in most parts of the United States because they’re so powerful. That’s not an issue because the Tyson is designed as a commuter vehicle rather than a leisurely bicycle.
It can reach speeds up to 28 miles per hour and a maximum range of 55 miles if you pedal. That power is extremely helpful if you’re going uphill and need a little extra juice. It can help offset the load on your legs so you can actually enjoy the view once you reach the peak.
Storing and moving the bike when you’re not using it is made easy thanks to the folding mechanism. The Tyson can collapse so it’s roughly the size of one of its wheels plus a little extra, so it can neatly fit under a bed frame or behind a door.
While riding the Heybike Tyson, you should feel at ease and in control because it has hydraulic suspensions on the front and rear wheels. This reduces bumps and turbulence caused by the environment and should give you consistent stability regardless of the incline, decline, or surface you’re riding on.
Although the Heybike Tyson doesn’t include a helmet with a purchase, it can help you ride safely at night. It boasts automatic headlights that power on when you pedal in low visibility conditions. The lights shouldn’t drain your battery when they’re in use.
Connecting your bike to the Heybike app opens your phone to notifications if somebody tries to move your bike while you’re away. You can lock your bike when it’s not in use too, further protecting it from thieves.
Speaking of the Heybike app, it works like the Strava running app as it can track the calories you burnt, how far you’ve traveled, how fast you’re going, how much battery power your bike has left, and even how much CO2 you’ve saved on your trip.
The Heybike Tyson is a single-frame e-bike made entirely from magnesium. For those unaware, magnesium is a good alternative material to carbon fiber, titanium, or aluminum. It’s lighter than the other materials so it’s easier to maneuver and control without hindering the bike’s performance. That’s to say that just because it’s light doesn’t mean it’s flimsy.
Additionally, magnesium has a great strength-to-weight ratio. Think of it like ants, who are proportionally strong as heck. Although magnesium is light, it can support much more weight per gram than other materials. You can see this by the fact that the Heybike Tyson can hold up to 400 pounds despite weighing less than 80 pounds.
Finally, magnesium is pretty good at resisting vibrations, so controlling the Heybike Tyson should feel smooth and silky, even on unfinished roads.
In this section of my Heybike Tyson review, I’ll run through the numbers and stats that make the bike special.
The Heybike Tyson can support up to 400 lbs and is suitable for riders between 5’3” and 6’3”. As such, everyone from short kings to Awesome Kong. The bike itself weighs 77 pounds.
Moving on from weights and heights, the Heybike Tyson uses a 48V 15Ah battery and a 48V 4A charger to bring it back to life within five hours. That means you can bike to a friend’s place, charge it for a bit, then return home without it dying on you mid-journey.
The battery can handle up to 55 miles on a single charge if you’re also pedaling, so you can see your friend living on the other side of a large metropolitan city without recharging.
And if you’re concerned about brakes then peep the bike’s hydraulic disk brakes. They offer plenty of advantages over rim or mechanical disk brakes, including the following:
- Increased breaking power
- Better control over how much pressure is applied
- Less affected by external factors like weather
- Better heat dispersion
- Less force required for the same result
Finally, let’s discuss the bike’s tires. I mentioned earlier in this Heybike Tyson review that these are fat tires, but it’s time to put “fat” into perspective. The bike’s tires are 20” by 4”, so they’re thick enough to handle most terrains without breaking a sweat. You shouldn’t break one either unless you’re doing all the pedaling yourself.
The Heybike Tyson usually costs $1,699, but you can grab it on sale right now for $1,599. Each accessory costs $79, though they’re also on sale for $59. These accessories include the following:
- Black saddle bag
- Green saddle bag
- Large basket
Who Is The Heybike Tyson For?
Due to the fact that the Heybike Tyson is a Class 3 e-bike, I’d only recommend it to people who have access to dirt roads or who need a powerful ebike they can ride on city streets.
Heybike Tyson Reviews: What Do Customers Think?
As of June 2023, there are only two websites with Heybike Tyson reviews from customers – Heybike’s and Amazon. I’ll be pulling insights and testimonials from there. For starters, here are the average scores from each site.
- Heybike: 4.9/5 stars based on more than 105 pieces of customer feedback
- Amazon 4.8/5 stars based on more than 25 pieces of customer feedback
As you can see from those scores, most Heybike Tyson review writers were pleased with the bike. Its power and handling were among the most common compliments mentioned in buyer testimonials.
As one shopper wrote on Heybike’s website, “Beautiful bike, easy to setup, no issues out of the box. My girlfriend loves it. Plenty quick enough for her, and plenty of range for our liking. Aesthetically pleasing as well.”
Another user on Amazon said that the Heybike Tyson helped them ride again suffering a horrendous injury in a car crash. They added, “I love to ride bikes and after this accident I am still very weak that’s why I decided to get an e-bike and I will tell you it rides great when I’m tired I start the engine and enjoy ride. Very easy to assemble!!! Easy to use, great app!!! I recommend to everyone !!!!”
The only complaints I found in Heybike Tyson reviews from customers were that the BlueTooth connectivity was occasionally finicky. Some customers said they couldn’t figure out how to lock or unlock their bikes at first, though they quickly sorted this out.
Once again, it was the bike’s performance that drew in many of its customers. Even larger riders felt safe and secure atop the Heybike Tyson, such as this 6’ customer on Amazon who wrote, “ If you were a big guy over 6 foot this is the Ebike for you I love it I would recommend it to anybody is fast and awesome and bigger than you think.”
Is The Heybike Tyson Legit?
Due to the high number of Heybike Tyson reviews from customers, I feel safe reporting that the bike is safe and legitimate.
Is The Heybike Tyson Worth It?
You won’t find many e-bikes with as many features as the Heybike Tyson in its price range. While I wouldn’t recommend it to those who want to bike on busy pathways, I definitely think it’s worth checking out if you want to reduce your commute time.
How To Choose The Best Electric Bike
Choosing the best e-bike involves considering several factors to match your specific needs and preferences. Here are some key considerations to help you make an informed decision:
- Determine Your Riding Needs: Consider how you plan to use the e-bike. Will it be primarily for commuting, recreational rides, off-road adventures, or a combination? Understanding your riding needs will help you determine the appropriate e-bike type and features.
- E-Bike Type: There are various types of e-bikes available, such as commuter e-bikes, mountain e-bikes, folding e-bikes, cargo e-bikes, and more. Choose a type that aligns with your intended use and terrain requirements.
- Motor and Power: E-bikes are equipped with different motor types, such as hub motors or mid-drive motors. Consider factors like motor power (typically measured in watts) and torque to ensure it provides sufficient assistance for your intended riding conditions.
- Battery Range and Capacity: Evaluate the battery range and capacity, which determine how far you can ride on a single charge. Consider factors such as your average ride length, terrain, and the level of pedal assistance you prefer. Opt for a battery that meets your range requirements.
- Pedal Assist Levels: Look for e-bikes that offer multiple pedal assist levels (typically ranging from low to high). This allows you to adjust the level of assistance provided by the motor based on your riding needs and desired workout intensity.
