Made.com Review

With over 1.5 million Instagram followers and a brand aesthetic that most would deem “goals,” Made.com is one of the most exciting names in European furniture.

Their products come from smaller developers who instill their pieces with intentional design and care.

In this Made.com review, I’ll look at the brand’s history, some of their products, their prices, and their customer reception so that you can get an idea about whether or not they’re right for you.

Why You Should Trust Us

Our mission is to help you make better, more informed purchase decisions. Our team spends hours researching, consulting with medical experts, gathering insight from expert professionals, reviewing customer feedback, and analyzing products to provide you with the information you need.

Overview Of Made.com

Made.com Review

Made.com was among the earliest and most successful British e-commerce brands[1]. That sentence may imply that they’re older than they really are, which speaks even more highly of their success. They established themselves in 2010 with a business model that many other furniture companies would adopt.

Their idea was, at the time, novel. They would work alongside independent furniture designers to deliver their products directly to consumers through the internet.

This plan would save them money (they wouldn’t need to pay rent on a storefront), they would platform smaller creators who otherwise may not receive such an opportunity, and the lower overhead costs meant that they could price their items cheaper.

This framework also allows them to work towards cleaning up their business from an environmental perspective. The lack of factories and storefronts means that Made.com has more time, energy, and resources to dedicate to improving their sustainability[2]. Some of their long-term goals include:

  1. Eliminating all superfluous plastic from their packaging
  2. Developing their upcycling and recycling program
  3. Using 100% sustainably-sourced materials

Before I progress any further into this Made.com review, there is an elephant in the room I need to address. Currently, the company is in the middle of a transition with regard to investors.

This transition is occupying most of their time, meaning that they’re temporarily taking a break from accepting new orders.

All of the prices and items I’ve included here can still be found on the brand’s website, but you’ll have to wait until the issue has been settled before you make a purchase.

Now that I’ve gotten that short disclaimer out of the way, let’s progress to the highlights part of this Made.com review.

Highlights

  • Work alongside independent designers
  • Furniture is cheaper than other brands
  • Possibility to book virtual furniture viewings
  • 10-year guarantee on certain items
  • Hassle-free return policy
Made.com Review

Made.com houses all the standard products you’d expect from a furniture distributor. However, because of their business model, this sometimes falls outside of standard parameters. This means that you may find bedframes, chairs, or lamps that stretch the definition of their categorization just a bit.

Made.com Furniture Review

The best way for you to understand the type of furniture that Made.com sells is by giving you a peek at some of their items. That’s why, in this section of my Made.com review, I’ll tell you about a select number of their most unique items.

Made.com Scott 3 Seater Sofa Grass Cotton Velvet Review

The first piece of Made.com furniture is purported to be one of the brand’s most-loved styles. The Scott Sofa brings back the days of nuclear furniture from the 1950s and 1960s, a time when was in style and would later become exciting as time goes on.

That’s to say that the Made.com Scott 3 Seater Sofa Grass Cotton Velvet is a rather bold piece. Green velvet is a bit of a flex for sofas as you aren’t likely to find many others with this pattern.

You’re also unlikely to find a sofa that’s as comfortable as this one. It may not look like it, but the Made.com Scott 3 Seater Sofa Grass Cotton Velvet can cradle you while retaining its shape and feel. You can enjoy a dinner with guests or watch Netflix while remaining upright. You won’t sink into this couch, never to rise from it again.

The delivery was flexible and easy and I cannot describe how pleased I am with the sofa. It’s comfortable, stylish and always gets comments from friends and family that come to visit… Would fully recommend!” wrote one buyer.

The Made.com Scott 3 Seater Sofa Grass Cotton Velvet costs £1,600.

Made.com Bobo Accent Armchair Moss Green Recycled Velvet Review

Next up is this armchair that reminds me of a character from the Super Mario series. Perhaps it’s the legs and armrests of the Made.com Bobo Accent Armchair Moss Green Recycled Velvet that tickle my imagination. Actually, it definitely is, because this chair is the work of a designer with an attentive eye for detail.

“The joints between the backrest, seat and legs have a very small space between them, giving the chair visual lightness.” This is how designer Omayra Maymó breaks down this creation. Her pieces have won awards across the world for their ability to reinterpret how we view simplicity.

It’s not like this chair has a mess of bells and whistles going on that make it more or less attractive. It’s the simple way that Maymó plays with core design concepts that makes the Made.com Bobo Accent Armchair Moss Green Recycled Velvet intriguing.

This chair costs £675.

Made.com Mika Pendant Chandelier Light, Green, Grey & Brass Review

When you read the word “chandelier,” you might think about thousand dollars worth of diamonds precariously dangling from the ceiling. The Made.com Mika Pendant Chandelier Light, Green, Grey & Brass flips the script on that notion, going for a modest look.

Most chandeliers aren’t rustic like this one, but then again, most chandeliers don’t come from the in-house team at Made.com. It uses simple metals and glass for a homely appearance that falls in line with what most people want from lighting fixtures these days.

The Made.com Mika Pendant Chandelier Light, Green, Grey & Brass costs £250.

Bought for new extension – vaulted ceiling – looks fantastic – even better than I hoped. Easy to put together. Easy to install. Would definitely recommend. Looks stunning without being really expensive,” said one Made.com review writer on the brand’s website.

Made.com Cory Super King Size Ottoman Storage Bed, Tuscan Teal Velvet Review

Velvet upholstery, padded headboards, and underside storage make the Made.com Cory Super King Size Ottoman Storage Bed, Tuscan Teal Velvet a bedframe worth purchasing.

It supports your mattress with a metal frame that lifts upwards to reveal a deep trove of storage. But that’s not all it’s good for. The 100% polyester fabric gives it a retro sheen that’s sorely lacking in many bedrooms.

One buyer had this to say about the Made.com Cory Super King Size Ottoman Storage Bed, Tuscan Teal Velvet

This is a really beautiful bed – it was a bit delayed so took a fair while to arrive in the end but since it’s arrived its a very good sleep! The high head board makes it feel like a were sleeping in a hotel bed – very easy to put together (with 2 people!) and well made.

You can pick up this bed in a variety of colors, but they all cost £1,500.

Made.com Keala Bedside Table, Mango Wood Review

Here are three quick reasons why you would want this Made.com Keala Bedside Table, Mango Wood:

  1. It can hold your lamp and your bedtime book
  2. It’s made from mango wood which is heavy, dense, and tough
  3. The shape of the drawers gives it an artisan’s appearance

If you dug around deeper into this bedside table you’d likely find other attractive features it possesses, like its surprising amount of storage space. However, I’ll let you discover the rest for yourself.

The Made.com Keala Bedside Table, Mango Wood costs £325.

Made.com Krisha 12 Piece Dinner Set, Turquoise & Charcoal Reactive Glaze Review

The final set of items I want to talk about in this Made.com review was created by local Portuguese artisans to bring together friends and family. The Made.com Krisha 12 Piece Dinner Set, Turquoise & Charcoal Reactive Glaze promotes sharing meals and good times with its inviting shapes and colors.

Each piece in this set is both dishwasher and microwave safe. The set includes four dinner plates, four side plates, and four bowls.

We are so happy with this set, it’s stunning. The bowls are just the right size as well, they make great pasta bowls. But I agree with other reviewers, I wish the plates were available separately. And maybe some smaller bowls and mugs! I would definitely buy more,” wrote one customer.

The Made.com Krisha 12 Piece Dinner Set, Turquoise & Charcoal Reactive Glaze costs £120.

Made.com Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Made.com Review

Seeing as how most of Made.com’s business is run through the internet, it’s important to consult with people who have experienced buying from them. They only have two showrooms, so you won’t be able to test out the furniture until it arrives at your doorstep in most cases.

As such, customer Made.com reviews can tell you a great deal about what to expect from the brand. For starters, here’s a list of the scores that shoppers gave the products I listed in this Made.com review. All of these numbers come from the brand’s website:

  • Made.com Mika Pendant Chandelier Light, Green, Grey & Brass: 5/5 stars based on 8 ratings
  • Made.com Scott 3 Seater Sofa Grass Cotton Velvet: 4.6/5 stars based on nearly 900 ratings
  • Made.com Krisha 12 Piece Dinner Set, Turquoise & Charcoal Reactive Glaze: 4.6/5 stars based on more than 100 ratings
  • Made.com Cory Super King Size Ottoman Storage Bed, Tuscan Teal Velvet: 2.9/5 stars based on more than 40 ratings

The quest for customer reception didn’t stop there. While the individual product scores were, on the whole, positive, I wanted to see what people thought about Made.com from a broader perspective.

As such, I looked at a few more websites to see what shoppers said there. Here’s what I found:

  • iTunes App Store: 4.7/5 stars based on more than 8,000 pieces of customer feedback
  • Trust Pilot: 3.8/5 stars based on more than 100,000 pieces of customer feedback
  • Review Center: 3.1/5 stars based on more than 640 pieces of customer feedback

The numbers paint a positive picture for Made.com. Overall, it seems like people were happy with their purchases.

This usually came from the overall quality of the products and the simple ordering process. People appreciated how easy it was to leaf through Made.com’s catalog and find plenty of top-notch products from unique designers.

I brought a chair, and it is of outstanding quality, as I had anticipated. Will last me a lifetime, in my opinion. The online ordering process was fantastic, but I later changed my mind and desired another colour this was not a problem. Many thanks,” wrote one user online.

This quality was echoed in other customer Made.com customer reviews, as was the brand’s dedication to customer service. I read plenty of pieces of feedback that spoke highly of the brand’s ability to fix faulty orders and help people when they presented a problem.

I have ordered lots from here, beds, lamps, furniture and no issues, all good quality . I recently had an issue with a broken lampshade that was dealt with awfully on the chat but the customer service agents on here resolved it quickly. I would order from them again. D,” wrote a Facebook user on the Made.com page.

Sadly, not everyone who wrote a Made.com review thought that the brand was all roses and puppy dogs. Some users on Reddit and TrustPilot both reported issues with the brand when it came to their product quality and their customer service.

Delivery times were also a sticking point for some customers. Buyers said that they waited months on end to receive their products.

However, that wasn’t the case with most Made.com reviews from customers. As this next buyer testimonial points out, the brand was also capable of providing reliable service and quality items:

Bought 2 cushions and a footstool- pillows are very stylish and a nice accent to my room- footstool is well made and required no building at all-out of the box and into the front hall= perfect- enjoy the website and would have no trouble using again or recommending to friends- was kept informed of delivery time and arrived on time no problem.

Furthermore, the complaints about negligent customer service left me scratching my head considering that many buyers spoke highly of the brand’s communication services.

There are a fair number of testimonials in which buyers were able to return or exchange faulty products after speaking with Made.com’s employees. Here’s what one buyer wrote about their experience on TrustPilot:

Bought a Colter Pedal Bin earlier this month. Waited a few days for the delivery, and we found that it’s a faulty product. Contacted customer service to arrange a replacement bin. The arrangements for delivering replacement bin and collecting the faulty bin were good and instructions were easy to follow.

Is Made.com Legit?

Made.com Review

The length of delivery times, plus the brand’s current situation regarding ownership, leave me with a slightly uneasy feeling, but it’s not enough to sway me towards a negative opinion. Yes, this brand is legit.

Is Made.com Worth It?

Made.com Review

It seems that many of the items in this Made.com review, and those on the company’s site, are more about appearance than function. That’s fine for some items like decorative vases, but it’s not as peachy for functional furniture like chairs or tables.

As such, I think that Made.com is more worthwhile if you’re looking for statement pieces that will dazzle your guests.
