Omar Rada founded Misen in 2017 after noticing that cookware and kitchenware costs way too much. He had the goal of creating a line of essentials that fused together the core principles of quality material, thoughtful design, and honest pricing. The name is derived from the French phrase ‘mise en place’, which means to ‘put in place’. 

The Brooklyn-based brand sells its entire catalogue through its website to customers in the US, Canada, and Europe, but it sells a couple of its pieces on Amazon as well. Misen’s return policy is akin to Material Kitchen’s (60 days) with a bit more clarification and restrictions added. All of Misen’s cookware is manufactured just outside of Shanghai. 

Through browsing both site’s catalogues, I noticed that Misen sells its products at slightly higher prices than Material Kitchen does. The price difference is not astronomical, by any means, but it is generally a notable $20–$50 leap. I also noticed that Misen gives customers more choice by offering them a more extensive line of products.
