NAADAM Cashmere Review

NAADAM Cashmere Review

Like so many others, over the past 5 years, my style has changed a lot. I now live in comfortable clothing, because…why not? But though I have a WFH lifestyle, I still pop out for coffee and lunch time walks and I need my comfies to keep up.

NAADAM makes high-quality cashmere apparel that blurs the lines between leisure and athletic wear.

So much more than your typical couch-potato sweats, the brand’s collection of men’s and women’s basics help you get more out of your lifestyle, serving as casual, lounge, and workout attire.

Said to be the “world’s finest cashmere” made from sustainable, Mongolian yarn, it wasn’t a surprise to find NAADAM featured in Forbes, Travel + Leisure, and The New York Times, or its social community of 120k+.

This brand certainly talks the talk, but do its products live up to the hype? In this NAADAM cashmere review, I’ll take an in-depth look at the brand, its ethics, best-sellers, and more to find out. Cozy up and let’s get to it.

Overview of NAADAM

NAADAM Cashmere Review

As people around the globe grow to prefer the comforts that lie behind closed doors, everyday basics are quickly becoming the new fashionable favorite—who ever thought sweats could be a fashion must-have?

After taking one look at NAADAM’s collection, I quickly realized that comfortable doesn’t mean sloppy anymore. Loungewear can be a new, freshly-pressed tee without the need for an iron, just as a buttery, feel-good pair of leggings can be rocked on the couch and to the cafe.

Good-looking and feeling clothes aren’t the only end-goals that Matt Scanlan and Diederik Rijsemus had when they started the brand in 2013 though.

After a trip to the Gobi Desert, the friends learned how goat herders were cut short of fair prices by cashmere traders. So, they decided to do something about it.

Helping out the herders doesn’t stop at paying them fair prices, as the brand goes a step further and puts money back into the land where these goats roam. As for the goats, well, I’d say they’re living their best lives, receiving veterinary care when ill or hurt thanks to NAADAM.

The brand’s headquarters are located in New York where they also have 3 retail shops across the city. Their ultra-soft-looking, ribbed basics for men and women extend out from sleepwear to instant outfits like jumpsuits and you can even buy a NAADAM Cashmere Comb to keep yours in tip-top shape.

Before I get into the brand’s customer favorites in this NAADAM cashmere review, let me quickly fill you in on their pros and cons:

  • Carries a variety of luxury apparel for men and women ranging from PJs to winter essentials
  • Products are made from extremely high-quality 16-gauge cashmere
  • Has ethical practices from start to finish
  • Aims to be carbon neutral by 2025
  • Customers say the brand’s cashmere rivals that of high-fashion brands
  • Offers deals and a NAADAM discount code
  • Affirm available for easy payment plans

  • Some customers say that their items are too slim or short

NAADAM Sweaters Review

Ready to get into this NAADAM cashmere review? I’ll give you a peek at the brand’s best-selling, comfiest sweaters.

Fun fact: on their website, each item is ranked on a softness scale from ‘soft’ to ‘softest ever’ and is accompanied by information on where the materials are sourced. I really like this transparency, as well as the fact that I shop for my comfort level. Let’s check out the collection.

NAADAM Cashmere Hoodie Review

This is the kind of hoodie I’ve often searched for but have a hard time finding. And when I do find it, it’s sold out. I think it has this polished, yet effortless look to it, with a structure that makes it dressier than other hoodies in your closet. Yes, I did say that: hoodies can now be dressy.

Made from 100% Mongolian cashmere, this hoodie has all the right details, like a sizable hood, thick drawstrings, and tapered cuffs.

It comes in 5 colors, but I find merlot especially thrilling. The brand suggests pairing this hoodie with matching pants to create a NAADAM cashmere set, but I think it would look cute with simple blue jeans and white sneakers as well.

Feel true comfort in the Cashmere Hoodie for $175.

NAADAM Cashmere Cropped Turtleneck Review

When I imagine the perfect fall sweater, the Cashmere Cropped Turtleneck comes to mind. With a snug-as-a-bug-looking turtleneck that rests right under your chin, this sweater is the ideal choice for chilly fall days.

The cropped bottom is just high enough to give a sneak peek of what’s underneath, not like the ab-baring ones you’ve been rocking all summer. When fall comes, tummies need a little more protection.

I dream of pairing this oatmeal-colored sweater with dark denim, brown leather ankle boots, and a knee-grazing coat. It also comes in black and rust if you prefer darker colors like I do.

Get excited for chilly weather with the NAADAM women’s 100 Cashmere Cropped Turtleneck for $135.

NAADAM Cashmere Ribbed Turtleneck Review

Not every occasion calls for a crop. I think a fitted, ribbed texture looks good at any time. I love that the Cashmere Ribbed Turtleneck is made of 100% ethical and kind Mongolian cashmere, tightly knit into a wonderfully fashionable design.

Fitting close to your body, this turtleneck can be tucked into high-waisted jean skirts or worn simply with jeans for an easy, cozy outfit. It’s available in 4 colors, but as a true city-dweller, I’m partial to black.

Prep your wardrobe for falling leaves with the Cashmere Ribbed Turtleneck for $165

NAADAM Cashmere Oversized Turtleneck Review

For days where you need to feel extra cozy, the Cashmere Oversized Turtleneck has your back and especially your neck.

With a thick, floppy collar to keep warmth in, I like that the material is breathable so you won’t feel too hot in this sweater. It’s a thicker option than the other two turtlenecks previously mentioned in this NAADAM cashmere review, so I suggest keeping this one close by for chilly days.

The body is loose, so you can layer tanks or other long sleeve tees underneath in the colder months too. Offered in 7 colors like raspberry pink, black, and oatmeal, these fun and classic colors go well with anything they’re paired with, from skirts, to denim, to dress pants.

Stay warm and look cute this winter in the Cashmere Oversized Turtleneck for $350.

NAADAM Women’s Review

You’ve seen the sweaters, next up in this NAADAM cashmere review, I’ll feature the brand’s best of the best when it comes to women’s apparel. This includes lounge basics that look dressy enough to wear outside and can’t-live-without-them basics to complete your WFH wardrobe.

NAADAM Recycled Cashmere Waffle Robe Review

Robes are simple items that add a feeling of comfort and luxury. I think of them as a portable blanket. The Recycled Cashmere Waffle Robe is made from 70% recycled cashmere and 30% virgin cashmere to make you feel even better about your purchase.

You can happily tie up your robe with the sash belt knowing you’re doing good for the planet

This robe has other great features too, like the oversized pockets and fold-over collar that give it a long sweater feel. Pull on a pair of soft leggings and a simple tank for an instant indoor outfit.

There’s no one around to impress, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look good for yourself. Enjoy lounging even more with the Recycled Cashmere Waffle Robe for $325.

NAADAM Cashmere Jogger Review

Born to be paired with the Cashmere Hoodie, the Cashmere Jogger has that same polished look.

Available in 5 neutral colors, these modern sweats can be worn with a matching hoodie or, perhaps, with a soft graphic tee for afternoon strolls with your pup. They’re quite fitted on the leg, tapering down to the ankle where a cuff keeps them in place.

As is the great thing about these kinds of pants, I like that you can push these joggers up for a different look if it gets too hot throughout the day.

Master comfy-casual with the NAADAM Cashmere Joggers for $175.

NAADAM Tie-Dye Shorts Review

With a varsity vibe, the Tie-Dye Shorts are sporty with their burgundy, peach, and white patterns. These rad shorts fit higher on the waist for a modern feel that women have come to know and love. Low waisted anything is a no-go for me these days, I appreciate the high-waisted fit.

Made with a white drawstring, they can be tightened if you happen to need a little extra security. They do come up quite high on the leg but have enough coverage for a woman of average height.

Made from a mixture of cotton, viscose, modal, and spandex, the Tie-Dye Shorts are ultra-soft and ready for action. These fun, flowy shorts can be found in the NAADAM women’s new arrivals section for only $85.

NAADAM Pajama Button Up Dress Review

Dresses give a feeling of freedom and I think that’s just one of the reasons why women love them. The Pajama Button Up Dress gives you that same feeling during the night or when you’re cooking breakfast in the morning.

With a traditional PJ look, this dress is crafted from a medium-thick modal and spandex material that has a luxuriously soft feel.

Slip into something truly comfortable with the Pajama Button Up Dress, available as an absolute steal for $50.

What is NAADAM cashmere?

NAADAM Cashmere Review

When NAADAM set out to create cashmere, they didn’t want to be like any other ordinary brand, so they went big. Big meant choosing the most difficult type of cashmere to make: 16 gauge.

What makes this type so special? I learned that it’s all about the machinery and time it takes to knit together. Being of higher quality and longer than normal cashmere, NAADAM’s material requires top-notch machines and skilled craftsmen.

The result is pilling-free, light, fancier-than-ever cashmere that I think you’ll see and feel a difference in.

Is NAADAM actually ethical?

NAADAM Cashmere Review

The creation of high-quality cashmere sometimes comes at a cost of poor ethics. NAADAM doesn’t specify exactly what their ethical criteria are, but according to an assessment on Good On You, the brand is ranked as “good.”

The company received that ranking because their website includes a worker’s rights statement and makes sure everyone knows exactly where and how their products are being made by way of tracing.

I read that NAADAM pays their workers fair wages and audits suppliers and other production facilities they use.

In terms of the ethical treatment of animals, the brand ranks at “good” again. Of course, cashmere is made from animal wool or hair, so it could be potentially problematic.

NAADAM is proudly cruelty-free, providing veterinary care and hand-combing their goats. Sounds like a day well spent if you ask me.

Is NAADAM really sustainable?

NAADAM Cashmere Review

There are many ways a brand can be sustainable, and while NAADAM is certainly headed in that direction, it’s not taking any major leaps just yet. Before you promptly cross the brand off of your sustainable shopping list, hear me out.

NAADAM may not have completely sustainable production, but from the information I could find, they’re still leagues ahead of other businesses simply because of what they choose to make their garments out of.

Their cashmere comes from goats: unharmed, happy, Mongolian desert goats. Many consider goat hair a sustainable material.

In their other lines, such as the Movement collection, NAADAM’s website states they use recycled wood pulp for a portion of the material.

On top of that, the brand uses non-toxic dyes. So, while I’m unsure of any sustainable practices that go on within their factories, they are making a few good choices that many other brands aren’t. Read the NAADAM sustainability report for more details on how they’re helping the earth.

NAADAM Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

NAADAM Cashmere Review

So far, I like what I’ve seen with this brand, but no NAADAM cashmere review would be complete without hearing from their customers.

Ahead, you’ll read comments sourced from the brand’s website, Mademoiselle, and the Better Business Bureau, all helping to shed some light on what NAADAM’s cashmere apparel is really like.

To give you a feel for how customers perceive the brand’s apparel, I compiled a list of some of their bestsellers along with their ratings below:

  • Cashmere Jogger: 4/5 stars, 188 reviews
  • NAADAM Cashmere Jumpsuit: 4.6/5 stars, 41 reviews
  • Cashmere Cropped Turtleneck: 4.5/5 stars, 39 reviews
  • Cashmere Hoodie: 4.3/5 stars, 168 reviews
  • The Essential $75 Sweater Men’s: 5/5 stars, 685 reviews

Because of the large number of reviews, I decided to take a closer look at The Essential NAADAM $75 Cashmere Sweater

Ecstatic customers can’t believe the quality of this sweater, speaking of its “soft and substantial” fabric. Many say it’s even better quality than top designer versions

One NAADAM cashmere review reads, “no other on-line retailer, that I’ve used, has the kind of exchange process that you have. I give you 5 stars for the quality of the merchandise and your customer service.”

You’d be surprised at how valuable an easy exchange process is. It’s good to know this brand has it figured out.

A NAADAM Cashmere review on Mademoiselle recounts the author’s experience with the NAADAM women’s sweaters but more specifically, the Essential Cashmere Sweater

After several wears, she reported no “rubbing or pilling,” a generally rare occurrence for this material. This is due to the extremely high-quality 16-gauge cashmere the brand uses.

Heading over to the Better Business Bureau, NAADAM has a C+ rating, with a total of 29 complaints that they resolved in the past 3 years. There are only 5 reviews on their profile that give the brand a 1/5 star rating.

Because it’s such a small number, the rating won’t affect my overall very positive view of the brand.

Is NAADAM cashmere good quality? From what I found on and off the brand’s website, people think it’s good-looking and extremely soft. There are very few issues reported outside of their website, a good sign that overall, this company is well-received.

Is NAADAM Worth It?

NAADAM Cashmere Review

NAADAM cashmere clothing is made from extremely high-quality material. They’re an ethical brand that does its part and is working on becoming completely sustainable by 2025. Loved by customers who leave great reviews, I think they’re worth the buy if you’re in the market for cashmere apparel.

If modal is more your thing, the brand has got you covered too. Plus, they price their non-cashmere items pretty decently. As a company with good ethics, I didn’t see any red flags, only green lights.
