About PlushCare

PlushCare Review 1

In a time when healthcare is getting more complicated by the day, PlushCare is a shining beacon of convenience. Offering personalized primary care, urgent care, and mental health treatment, they take a patient-first approach and offer same-day appointments.

It’s no wonder PlushCare has served over 600,000 patients. They even have 70,000+ 5-star reviews with an average rating of 4.9/5 stars. Founded in 2014 by Ryan McQuaid & Dr. James Wanktuck, the service is on a mission to simplify getting the help you need.

However, simple certainly isn’t a word I would use to describe their doctors. All of the doctors they work with come from the top 50 US medical schools and have excellent reputations on and off the brand’s website.

Is what they offer really so unique? Read this PlushCare review to find out. I’ve packed it with key details about the service, how it works, and what it costs, along with feedback and answers to critical FAQs. Let’s start with the highlights:

PlushCare Review

PlushCare Review

PlushCare is super convenient and totally personalized. Handling urgent medical issues, ongoing conditions, and everyday general care, their team of board-certified doctors is here to help.

PlushCare requires an active, ongoing membership in order to use their services, so you’ll need to sign up before you book an appointment. However, the first 30 days of membership are free. I’ll tell you more about the costs a little further on in this PlushCare review, for now, let’s take a look at what you’ll get as a member.

When you sign up for PlushCare, not only will you have access to their wide range of doctors, but you will also have unlimited in-app messaging. This means you can chat with your care team to support you before and after your visits.

The online care team can also help with specialist referrals and billing questions, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you have a question.

As a PlushCare member, you’ll also enjoy same-day appointment booking. That’s something so few doctor’s offices can accommodate these days.

Say goodbye to 3 hour-long waits at the corner clinic. Get the advice and prescriptions you need fast, or book a longer appointment to talk about mental health or receive out-of-network online therapy.

How PlushCare Works

PlushCare Review

PlushCare was created to be a more convenient kind of healthcare, so their entire process is stress-free. To help you understand exactly how it works, I’ll walk you through each step here:

  1. Book an appointment. You can do this by going to PlushCare.com, choosing a doctor, and creating an account.
  2. Download the app. Get the PlushCare app and talk directly with your doctor via a video call. They will diagnose your condition or illness and prescribe something if necessary.
  3. Pick up your prescription. PlushCare will send your prescription to your pharmacy of choice. All you need to do is go pick it up.
  4. Come back for care as needed. If you require a follow-up appointment or need additional guidance from your doctor, you have unlimited messaging with your preferred doctor right on the app.

How Much Does PlushCare Cost?

PlushCare Review

PlushCare operates as a membership that gives you quick and easy access to a range of reputable doctors certified to practice in your state. Whether you are insured or uninsured, your membership fees will be the same.

PlushCare offers both monthly and yearly memberships, giving a discount to those who sign up for the annual plan.

  • Monthly Plan: $15/month
  • Annual Plan: $99/year ($8.15/month)

Since PlushCare accepts insurance, if your insurance provider is on their list, the copay for an appointment is typically $30 or less. Your copay amount depends on your specific insurance and whether you’ve hit your deductible for the year. If you do not have insurance, first-time visits have a fee of $129. Follow-up appointments are $79.

PlushCare Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

PlushCare Review

Getting the right kind of care is critical. That’s why it’s important we look at feedback in this PlushCare review. I really like that each of their doctors is rated and reviewed by past patients

For example, one PlushCare review for Dr. Douglas Clearly stated, “Friendly and made me feel confident in having an on-line consultation.” Dr. Clearly has a 4.8/5-star score based on 148 ratings, and I didn’t see any doctors that fell below 4.6/5 stars

On Trustpilot, PlushCare has a 4/5-star average and 1,428 reviews. Here’s the rating snapshot:

  • 5 stars: 84%
  • 4 stars: 2%
  • 3 stars: <1%
  • 2 stars: 1%
  • 1 star: 12%

One PlushCare review read, “I loved the speed with which I got an appointment. I was seen via zoom within 45 minutes of booking my appointment. I looked up the doctor’s biography and she was very well trained and experienced. I liked her direct, no-nonsense style. I also liked how she confirmed my identity, birthdate, city etc.

On the App Store, PlushCare has a 4.9/5-star score among 88,830 reviews. From that score alone we can see how much people like the service. But why? This next PlushCare review explains:

My experience has been seamless…Dr. Burruss was super professional, thorough, as well as kind and communicative. He made me feel at ease right away. After my appointment I got a text saying that my prescriptions had been called in. The pharmacy already [had] my prescription on file when I went to pick up because PlushCare included it with the call-in.

I love seamless care. It’s a sign of highly organized and professional service. Based on the feedback I found for this PlushCare review, it looks like this kind of feedback is common.

However, not everyone had the same kind of experience with PlushCare, and I’ll admit that telehealth does have its limits.

Sometimes there are things a virtual doctor can’t know or see, but I appreciate that if they cannot treat you, they will give you your money back. Not every telehealth service does this.

Is PlushCare Legit?

PlushCare Review

PlushCare is a legit, trustworthy service. They work with board-certified doctors and have an excellent reputation.

Is PlushCare Worth It?

PlushCare Review

PlushCare is URAC accredited and provides a high standard of care. Working with reputable doctors and receiving an average of 4.9/5 stars based on 70k+ reviews online, the 600k+ patients they have served show how much different their service truly is from others.

For that reason alone, I think it’s worth it, but especially because they offer a money-back guarantee, same-day appointments, and professional, friendly service.
