Overview of Belstaff

Belstaff Review

The Brits are known for their fashion sense, so it only makes sense that that’s exactly where Belstaff comes from. The company was first established in 1924 by Eli Belovitch and Harry Grosberg in Longton, named after the first three letters of Eli’s last name and the first five letters of his home county, ‘Staffordshire.’

Later, it came into the hands of James Halstead, who maintained the classic style and sold motorcycle jackets and coats. Since then, the collection has continued to grow, sold to Franco Malenotti in 2004 and again sold to The Labelux Group in 2011, and it is now owned by Ineos.

Now, the brand focuses on blending a rugged style with a luxurious, high-end vibe. The leather jackets and suede coats feel more classic than edgier options on the market, while the basic pieces are elevated with key details and craftsmanship.

Today, the products are made in the UK, though they are available worldwide. And while it is known for its collection of jackets, there’s options for every closet and style.

Now that we’ve got the origins of the label down pat, this Belstaff review will jump into some key highlights to keep in mind.

Belstaff Mantle Jacket Review

Inspired by the classic bomber, the Mantle Jacket features a down filling for extra warmth without being heavy and a water-repellent polyester soft shell. It comes with an intricate channel quilted detailing, windproof fabrication, and a center front zip closure with gold hardware.

It also comes with flap side pockets with snap closures and a military sleeve pocket with exposed zip for extra functionality. The ribbed collar, cuffs and hem create a more fitted silhouette for a comfortable yet sleek look.

This casual style will pair best with some jeans, a tee, and your fav pair of sneakers, though it can be dressed up with a button down shirt and black trousers. Available in three neutral options of black, navy blue, or light gray, the Mantle Jacket retails for $475.

Belstaff Pitch Shirt Review

A more relaxed version of the classic button down, the Pitch Shirt features a washed finish with  a rounded hem. The long sleeves and collar add a more formal look, while the comfortable fit, emblem detail, and buttoned breast pocket feel more casual.

The soft cotton twill fabric is durable and thick, ideal for layering on cooler days on top of a tee or beneath a corduroy jacket. Pair with leather for an edgier look, or opt for some classic denim bottoms for something chill and casual.

Available in four different colors, including a warm aubergine and creamy white, as well as sizes S-3Xl, the Pitch Shirt retails for $145.

Belstaff Milford Coat Review

The Milford Coat proves that it’s all in the details. Crafted from an ultra soft and warm blend of cashmere and wool, this option elevates a classic pea coat, blending it with a military inspired design to create a classy, luxurious vibe.

The silhouette is slim and tailored, with a structured shoulder and pleated back design. The oversized notch lapels can be worn up to protect the neck from the cold or down for a more elevated look.

On top of that, the two welted chest pockets and two front flap pockets at the hip add extra functionality, while the double breasted front fastening ensures a comfortable fit. Styled over a suit, work attire, or loungewear, this coat is sure to add a luxe touch.

Available in four different earthy colors, the Milford Coat retails for $995.

Belstaff Albee Black Jeans Review

Timeless and neutral in design, the Albee Black Jeans are a wardrobe essential. Crafted from thick and durable black denim, they feature a straight fit with a classic five-pocket design. The mid-rise waist and reinforced lining on the back pockets provide a more comfortable fit.

For a more casual look, roll the cuffs and pair with your fav combat boots and an oversized sweater. Or opt for something more minimal and sophisticated, opting for a silky blouse and strappy heels.

Belstaff Mollison Jacket Review

The Mollison Jacket is ideal for adding a luxurious yet edgy touch to any ensemble, combining details and clean lines with the classic café racer silhouette.

The soft nappa leather is warm and sophisticated, while the high collar with a snap stud throat latch, large front pockets, and chunky silver hardware feel a little more bold and detailed. The moto-inspired quilting on the shoulders and built-in waist belt merge the two styles together.

With your actual size, this jacket has more of a slim fit, ideal for a biker-chic feel and paired with some leather bottoms or denim. For a more oversized fit and casual vibes, opt for one or two sizes up and pair with a graphic tee, sneakers or combat boots, and some distressed light wash jeans.

Crafted from lambskin, the Mollison Jacket is available in three colors: classic black, mustard yellow, or olive green, and retails for $950.

Belstaff Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Belstaff Review

Belstaff clothing has been loved by motorcycle enthusiasts for almost a century, but the brand has since made a splash in the world of luxury. With a broad collection of men’s and women’s timeless apparel, it’s no wonder that shoppers are so drawn to the label.

But what are customers saying about their experiences once wearing the pieces? We sourced testimonials from Trustpilot, The Style Guide, and Esquire to find out if this brand is really worth the hype.

On Trustpilot, Belstaff earns an impressive rating of 4/5 stars out of 698 reviews. One customer notes that the repair service ensured that their jacket lasted exactly how it was supposed to:

The zipper on my Belstaff motorcycle jacket broke. Thanks to the Chat they put me in contact with Pellneta in Barcelona (I live in Madrid), they were charming, I sent them the jacket and they returned it to me perfectly repaired and with original parts.”

Another patron shares that the quality is worth the price and they will continue to come back for more, stating, “Quality of clothes and customer service are first rate. Cannot be faulted and hence despite the “designer” clothes prices I have a wardrobe of many jeans, tshirts, hoodies and jackets from Belstaff.”

A reviewer on The Style Guide has nothing but good things to say about their purchase and all the details, writing, “this stylish waxed field jacket gives you a heck of a lot of bang for your buck. We’re talking a water and wind-repellent 6oz. waxed cotton that blends technical functionality with heritage style, plus corduroy collar, hem and cuff linings.

On Esquire, a customer shares that the brand has continued to innovate over the years, noting the changes in one of the most popular Belstaff jackets:

While the Techmaster features many of the hallmarks of the original waxed cotton Trialmaster—an enlarged map pocket on the chest, angled for ease of access; three more bellows pockets; and reinforced shoulders and elbows—some significant updates beyond the cloth were added to the new jacket.”

Overall, Belstaff is highly rated for its quality, durability, functionality, and style–the four key pillars of the brand itself. A lot of patrons also note that the brand has an impressive customer service team, quickly tackling issues head on to ensure that every shopper leaves satisfied.

While it was once most well known for its motorcycling apparel, it is now noted for its careful, detailed designs and consistent innovation, constantly offering appealing pieces.
