About Davines

Davines Review

Your hair is a big part of your identity. Frizz, dry ends, limp strands, and a dry scalp can interfere with how you see yourself, which can impact how you feel, act, dress, and show up.

That’s why quality haircare is so important, but honestly, efficacy is just the beginning. Sustainable ingredients, transparency, and a company you feel good about supporting will ensure all the boxes are checked for anyone in search of a better brand.

That’s Davines, an international beauty brand care-crafted in Italy and used by professionals, in salons, and by those who want more from their shampoos, treatments, and styling products.

Davines was founded in 1983 in Parma, Italy, where the brand’s carbon-neutral headquarters are still located today. Starting as a research laboratory producing high-end products for cosmetics companies around the world, they launched their line in 1996 for salons and spas.

A certified B Corporation and member of 1% for the Planet, this sustainable, transparent, and effective haircare brand has garnered a strong following. After giving you a glimpse of its appeal, let’s dive into a comprehensive review to demonstrate why it might be the perfect choice for you as well. First, I’ll highlight its key features before delving deeper into what sets this brand apart. Let’s explore further.

Davines Review

Land on davines.com and you’ll be immersed in a world of gratifying haircare. There’s so much to explore and discover on the site, and I’ll do my best to break it all down for you here. Let’s kick things off with the basics and learn exactly how Davines works.

How Does Davines Work?

Davines offers a comprehensive selection of haircare for just about every hair type. They make you think about your hair condition, aka your “hair status”, and you can shop by hair status, product, or collection.

Not sure where to start? I recommend taking the Hair Quiz. In it, you’ll be asked a few questions about your hair health and needs and receive recommendations for your daily and styling regimens. Adding these to your cart will make the shopping process quick and easy and will have you on your way to better hair in under a minute.

You can also shop by categories such as Best Sellers, Stylist Picks, and Seasonal favorites, which is super helpful if you’re looking for a little guidance.

Find a product regimen you love? Davines offers a subscription option that will automatically deliver your favorites every 1, 3, or 6 months, shipping free of charge. Just choose the subscription option on the product page and add it to your cart. Repeat this process for every product you’d like to subscribe to. You can shut off or change up your subscription at any time through your account.

Davines Sustainability

Davines Review

Sustainability is at the core of everything Davines does. Since 2018 their products and packaging have been carbon-neutral.

Their products are formulated and manufactured in a carbon-neutral village in Parma, Italy, using electrical and thermal energy derived from renewable sources. All products they make are designed and produced with clean energy.

What’s more, they never test on animals and are a Certified B Corporation and part of 1% for the Planet.

Does Davines Make Products For All Hair Types?

Davines Review

A full list of the hair statuses they cater to includes:

  • Healthy Hair
  • Colored Hair
  • Curly Hair
  • Frizzy Hair
  • Damaged Hair
  • Fine Thin Hair
  • Thick Hair
  • Hair Loss
  • Dry Hair
  • Dandruff
  • Oily Hair
  • Sensitive Scalp

There is some overlap in products for each different hair status, but Davines makes it easy to find the right product for your hair by offering the Hair Quiz. You can navigate to each hair status and shop the collection based on your preferences, but if you want to make it super easy, I recommend taking the quiz.

Davines Collections

Because there are so many awesome products available at Davines, and because they promote a more custom approach, I’ll introduce you to a few of their collections below to give you an idea of what they’re all about.

  • OI: This is Davines’ most popular collection. It’s won awards and works with all hair types. Infused with Roucou oil, hair has improved shine and softness after use.
  • Essential Haircare: This collection includes a knock-out roster of products that each have a specific function for certain hair types or needs. From DEDE, a simple, good-for-your-hair line ideal for all hair types to MOMO, formulated for dry, thirsty hair, there’s something for every need in this collection.
  • Heart of Glass: Have blonde hair? This collection was made for you and designed to bring out the best in your natural or bleached blonde hair. This 5-part regimen has everything you need to care for your hair.
  • Pasta & Love: I’m a huge fan of the name of this men’s shaving line. Designed to elevate daily routines, it includes a softening shaving gel, pre-shave and beard oil, and aftershave and moisturizing cream.

Davines also offers a Shampoo Bar collection, a styling line called More Inside, a collection of nourishing masks called The Circle Collection, and much more.

How Much Does Davines Cost?

The majority of Davines’ products range from $35-48, but they also have an under $30 section! After I took my Hair Quiz, my recommended 5 products (shampoo, conditioner, treatment, primer, and hairspray) totaled $180. For the shampoo, conditioner, and treatment, it was $119.

Davines offers free shipping on orders over $75 and subscription orders, so that’s one cost you won’t have to worry about.

Who is Davines For?

Davines Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Davines Review

Feedback is the lifeblood of any Davines review, so I’ve collected a bunch from around the web to see what customers think. The first comes from davines.com.

  • OI All In One Milk: 4.6/5 stars, 275 reviews
  • OI Anti Frizz Oil: 4.8/5 stars, 140 reviews
  • OI Softening Conditioner: 4.6/5 stars, 133 reviews
  • Hair Softening Shampoo: 4.6/5 stars, 163 reviews

Of the OI All in One Milk, one customer wrote, “I tried every drugstore detangler and a different salon-quality detangler that a hairstylist recommended to no avail. I was literally cutting pieces of hair out because I couldn’t detangle after a shower. In walks the all in one milk, total game-changer! The comb glides through my hair every time, I’ll never use anything else! Love that it’s a heat protector too!

Other customers also speak of this, and the other products’, great scent.

The next source we’ll check out is from the Natalie Yerger blog. It starts, “I’d been using Oribe for every step of my hair care routine for over five years, and within a month of using Davines, I decided to switch lines.

This kind of feedback is common. The Davines review continued, “Once I hit my 30s, I started to notice my hair losing its luster, ease of movement, and softness and felt that Davines took things up a few more notches than Oribe did—all while costing less.”

Natalie tried out several products including the OI Shampoo. She said,

This is the best shampoo I’ve ever used. To me, the perfect shampoo removes all the residue without stripping hair while also adding a silkiness that doesn’t weigh it down, and OI Shampoo does just that.

The OI line is a customer favorite, so I’m not surprised to hear how much she loved it.

The final Davines review we’ll check out comes from Thing Testing where the brand was awarded 4.6/5 stars from 35 testers. One wrote:

The best shampoo and conditioner! I have naturally (borderline) Asian black hair that I bleach blonde every 12 weeks. The Nounou line significantly aids hydration and decreases the appearance of damage. Also love the brand story and sustainable mission!

The above Davines review is one of the most common. People who discover this brand love both its products and its mission.

Is Davines Legit?

Davines Review

Davines is a trustworthy and admirable brand. Made and formulated in Italy, the company distributes its products globally and is available in salons. While some customers wish it were more affordable, I didn’t come across much negative feedback. However, given its high-quality ingredients, sustainable sourcing, and strong environmental ethics, I believe that the price is well worth it.

Is Davines Worth It?

Davines Review

Like almost every other person who has come across this brand, I instantly fell in love with it. From the look of the website and products to the inclusivity of the products and their ingredients, Davines has checked every box of must-haves for someone like me who’s always looking for clean, sustainable, feel-good brands.

While Davines is priced higher than some brands you’ll find at the pharmacy, its ingredients, ethics, and effects make it worth the price. I understand this brand may not be for everyone because of its price, but if you’re used to paying higher prices for higher-quality products, customers say you’ll notice the difference when switching to Davines.
