About MDhair

MDhair Review

MDhair makes custom hair regrowth treatments. Using an AI algorithm and a painless quiz, they pinpoint your unique stage of hair loss and suggest a treatment plan. Their comprehensive line of dermatologist-developed supplements, serums, and shampoos blend FDA-cleared ingredients with nutrient-packed plants, promising real, fast results.

Who do we have to thank for this revolutionary system? Dr. Yoram Harth and his son Oded Harth came up with the idea and launched their brand in 2017. They are actually part of a larger company called MDalgorithms Inc.

Dr. Yoram Harth is a dermatologist and author, and he was previously a research fellow at Columbia Presbyterian’s Department of Dermatology. He even won the Wall Street Journal-Europe and Edison awards for his breakthroughs in aesthetic medicine and dermatology. In other words, he’s the guy you’d want to have behind the creation of a hair regrowth brand.

His son, Oded is the techy part of the equation. Training in AI and machine learning at Stanford, he’s the founder of MDalgorithms which is backed by more than one Silicon Valley venture capital firm.

Was there ever a more perfect duo to create a brand like MDhair? I think not. Because not only is the research and dermatology expertise behind it (their products contain 100+ research-based medical ingredients and botanicals), but they can also offer a high level of customization thanks to AI.

And of course, such a modern company as this one wouldn’t skip out on the chance to be sustainable, which is why their products have a net zero impact, come in recyclable bottles, and are free from sulfates, parabens, and phthalates.

Before you buy and try for yourself, be sure to check out this MDhair review. Here, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about the brand and its products so you know exactly what to expect. I’ll cover feedback, promotions, and FAQ too so you can shop with confidence. Ready to start? Let’s get growing.

Recent Studies About Hair Growth Products

If you’re looking for haircare products to address specific hair concerns (such as hair loss, thinning, or dryness), it may be useful to explore recent studies on the ingredients used in the products of your chosen brand.

  • A 2015 review discusses the various hair conditions affecting hair health and growth, such as hair loss, graying, and dandruff. The review also highlights the potential damaging effects of external factors and chemicals found in many shampoos, and emphasizes the importance of selecting safe and nourishing ingredients for scalp improvement.
  • A 2022 review summarizes the current and emerging therapies to promote hair growth, with a focus on androgenetic alopecia (AGA), male pattern hair loss (MPHL), and female pattern hair loss (FPHL). The review outlines various treatments such as finasteride, minoxidil, topical prostaglandins, natural supplements, microneedling, low-level laser light, platelet-rich plasma, fractional lasers, cellular therapy, Wnt activators, and SFRP1 antagonism.
  • This 2020 study found that a combination treatment of finasteride and topical minoxidil has better therapeutic efficacy than and similar safety as monotherapy.
  • A 2018 study reported that a topical solution of 0.25% finasteride admixed with 3% minoxidil, applied once daily for 24 weeks, worked to treat androgenic alopecia in men.

The natural ingredients listed in Table 1, such as vitamin B complex, grape seed, and essential fatty acids, have been shown to improve blood supply to the scalp, inhibit 5 alpha reductase activity, and improve hair texture, respectively, making them potential candidates for promoting hair growth and preventing hair loss.

The realm of hair loss products can be overwhelming. Fighting the intense need to see results and rebuild your confidence, it’s difficult to know where to put your faith.

Choosing an FDA-approved solution can provide reassurance and peace of mind for individuals seeking reliable solutions for hair loss.

Cons

  • Individual Results May Vary

Like any haircare brand, MDhair acknowledges that individual results may vary. Factors such as genetics, overall health, lifestyle, and adherence to product usage instructions can influence the outcomes experienced by users. While MDhair’s products are formulated to provide beneficial effects, it’s important to manage expectations and understand that results may differ from person to person.

  • Availability and Pricing

MDhair products may not be readily available in all regions, limiting accessibility for some individuals. Additionally, the pricing of MDhair products, while reflecting the quality and efficacy of the formulations, may be considered higher compared to some mainstream haircare brands. It’s essential to consider your budget and availability when considering MDhair as your haircare option.

Ingredients

MDhair Review

MDhair is a haircare brand dedicated to promoting healthy and vibrant hair. They have carefully selected ingredients that contribute to the effectiveness of their products.

I will explore the key ingredients found in MDhair and how they work to nourish and enhance your hair.

Marine Collagen

Marine collagen, sourced from the sea, supports hair, skin, nails, and joint health. It helps improve hair strength, thickness, and overall hair appearance.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid helps hydrate dry strands and promotes scalp health. It assists in maintaining moisture balance in the hair and scalp, resulting in improved hair texture and reduced dryness.

Biometric Copper Peptides

Biometric copper peptides increase hair follicle size and stimulate hair growth. They help nourish the scalp and promote a healthy environment for hair growth.

Saw Palmetto Berry Extract

Saw palmetto berry extract prevents the conversion of testosterone to DHT, a hormone associated with hair loss. It helps inhibit the enzyme responsible for this conversion, supporting hair growth and reducing hair thinning.

Panax Ginseng Root

Panax ginseng root decreases the miniaturization of hair follicles, preventing hair loss and promoting hair regrowth. It strengthens the hair roots and improves hair density and thickness.

Rosemary Leaf Oil

Rosemary leaf oil helps activate hair regrowth and improves scalp circulation. It has antioxidant properties that support hair health and reduce hair loss.

Minoxidil

Minoxidil is an FDA-approved ingredient used for the treatment of hair loss. It works by increasing blood flow to the hair follicles, promoting hair regrowth and thickening. Regular use of minoxidil can help reduce hair loss and improve hair density.

Pumpkin seed oil

Pumpkin seed oil is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that benefit hair health. It contains compounds like beta-sitosterol, which can help block the conversion of testosterone to DHT, a hormone associated with hair loss. Pumpkin seed oil promotes hair growth, strengthens hair follicles, and enhances overall hair quality.

Probiotics

Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that promote a healthy scalp environment. They help balance the microbiome on the scalp, which can support optimal hair growth. Probiotics help nourish the scalp, reduce inflammation, and improve scalp health, which in turn can contribute to healthier and stronger hair.

Benefits

MDhair offers a range of products that aim to provide several benefits for hair health and appearance. Here are some of the potential benefits associated with MDhair products:

Promotes Hair Growth

MDhair products contain ingredients like marine collagen, biometric copper peptides, and panax ginseng root that stimulate hair follicles, increase hair follicle size, and promote hair regrowth. These ingredients help address hair thinning and support the growth of thicker, fuller hair.

Reduces Hair Loss

Ingredients such as saw palmetto berry extract, minoxidil, and pumpkin seed oil help inhibit the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone associated with hair loss. By blocking DHT or improving blood flow to the hair follicles, these ingredients may help reduce hair loss and enhance hair density.

Strengthens Hair

MDhair products often include ingredients like marine collagen, panax ginseng root, and pumpkin seed oil, which strengthen hair strands and improve hair resilience. This can result in less breakage, increased hair strength, and improved overall hair health.

Improves Hair Texture and Appearance

Hyaluronic acid and rosemary leaf oil are among the ingredients used in MDhair products that contribute to improved hair texture, hydration, and manageability. These ingredients help moisturize dry strands, reduce frizz, and enhance the overall appearance and shine of the hair.

Nourishes and Supports Scalp Health

Probiotics and certain botanical extracts found in MDhair products help balance the scalp microbiome, reduce inflammation, and promote a healthy scalp environment. A healthy scalp is crucial for optimal hair growth and can contribute to overall hair health.

Enhances Hair Quality

With the combination of nourishing ingredients, antioxidants, and vitamins, MDhair products aim to enhance the overall quality of the hair. They may contribute to softer, smoother, and more vibrant hair by providing essential nutrients and protecting against damage.

6 MDhair Hair Growth Benefits

MDHair has a total of 8 products. Most of them are for the hair on your scalp, but one is made to help you regrow your eyelashes.

The rest are a mix of serums, supplements, shampoo, and conditioner, and while it’s possible to buy each of them individually, it’s recommended that you take the quiz and buy them as a set. Up next, I’ll tell you all about their best-sellers.

MDhair Marine Collagen

Collagen is one of the body’s building blocks, and taking a daily supplement may lead to an improvement in the health of your hair, skin, nails, and joints. Most collagen supplements come from cows, but MDhair’s Marine Collagen comes from the sea which means it’s ideal for those that don’t eat mammals.

Packed with type I and III (the best types for assisting with collagen production), this daily supplement also contains hyaluronic acid and vitamin C, added to help hydrate dry strands and support collagen synthesis.

Marine Collagen is sugar free and non-GMO and dissolves easily in your coffee or juice. A 5.75 oz tub is $48.

MDhair Restore Serum

Every girl knows the secret to healthy, shiny hair is using a serum, but the Restore Serum does so much more than just give your strands a little gloss. Using DHT blockers to help rev up your hair follicles, with regular use, they’ll become stronger and thicker.

The serum contains 20 different plant complexes, and is completely vegan and sulfate free. It’s free from fragrances as well, and if you have colored hair, it’s totally safe to use. So what’s in a bottle?

There are also hydrolyzed rice and oat proteins to help your hair retain moisture; biotin, because every hair expert knows it’s critical for scalp circulation; and vitamin B5 which fortifies each strand from root to tip. Pick up a 1 oz bottle for $44.

MDhair Minoxidil 5.0%

Minoxidil 5% has long been used as a treatment for men’s hair loss. FDA-approved and clinically proven, this potent solution can help you regrow and thicken your hair by increasing blood flow and follicle size.

Known as the secret weapon of hair loss, this vegan, cruelty-free solution is topically applied, safe, and won’t irritate your scalp. As for the results, in clinical trials, men saw less hair loss with 2-4 months of use. In 6-8 months, they experienced fuller hair. Add a 2 fl oz bottle of this powerhouse solution to your hair growth plan for $24.

MDhair Regrowth Supplements

Sometimes, addressing medical issues is an inside job. The Regrowth Supplements use DHT-blocking ingredients (saw palmetto berry extract is king), ashwagandha, and adaptogenic mushrooms to help reduce stress-related hair loss and oxidative damage, and switch on your hair’s growth phase.

Great for both men and women who have thinning hair, this vegan, sugar-free supplement is free from sulfates and GMOs and contains a blend of vitamins like B6, B9, calcium, folate, and zinc to feed your body what it needs to grow a healthy head of hair. You’ll get a month’s supply of 30 vegan capsules per bottle which rings up at $42.

MDhair Conditioner

Washing your hair without a conditioner is like toasting a piece of bread and never putting butter on it. It’s going to be dry. The MDhair Conditioner uses a blend of DHT-blocking ingredients like saw palmetto, along with rosemary leaf oil to help stimulate hair regrowth, and apple stem cells to rebuild.

It also includes all of the regular suspects you know and love in your favorite conditioner, like keratin, argan oil, and silk peptides. With a total of 16 active plant complexes, this silicone-free, paraben-free, and sulfate-free shampoo takes a multipronged approach to hair health.

Safe for colored hair, you can pick up a 2.7 oz bottle of this fragrance-free Conditioner for $22.

MDhair Regrowth Shampoo

The products we use on our hair can either hinder or help hair regrowth. When you’re trying to grow healthy hair, scrubbing with shampoos full of sulfates and parabens and artificial fragrances is a no-no.

The Regrowth Shampoo was formulated with 20 active plant compounds and without the nasty stuff so your hair is free to do what it was born to: grow. It contains a blend of biotin and argan oils for shiny, bouncy strands, while saw palmetto, pumpkin seed oil, and probiotics activate hair thickening.

Reducing build-up and calming dryness with hydrolyzed rice proteins, the MDhair Regrowth Shampoo is a critical first step in your new hair care routine. Get a 2.7 fl oz bottle for $22.

Who Is MDhair For?

MDhair Review

MDHair makes customized hair growth treatments for men and women. Their solutions are FDA-cleared and dermatologist developed, and many are vegan and cruelty-free as well.

That checks a lot of boxes for a research-obsessed animal activist with mild to moderate hair loss, but regardless of how you define yourself, if you like the peace of mind that comes from any of those labels and you’re over 13 years old, MDHair is for you.

Those over 13 but under 18 need to consult a guardian before purchasing and using MDhair.

MDhair Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

MDhair Review

This MDHair review hangs on the feedback of customers, so I couldn’t leave out a section dedicated completely to ratings and comments. The brand’s website shows some pretty great before and after photos if you’re interested, but here, you’ll read feedback I collected around the web to give you a 360-degree view of the brand.

MDHair.com was my first stop, and I compiled a short list of ratings for some of their best-sellers. You’ll find those below:

  • Marine Collagen: 4.67 Based on 12 reviews
  • Restore Serum: 4.93 Based on 14 reviews
  • Minoxidil 5%: 4.71 Based on 7 reviews
  • Regrowth Supplements: 4.50 Based on 4 reviews
  • Conditioner: 4.67 Based on 6 reviews

If you’re anything like me, you’re chomping at the bit to find out if this system actually works, so let’s just dive right into our first MDhair review.

I feel that my hair is thicker and has more bounce since I have been using it, also I find that I have more hair on top than I did before I started using it,” one customer admitted. Another wrote, “I’ve always had some thinning around the sides of my head (mostly “baby hairs”) so I started using the Restore Serum in those areas and it’s filling in so fast! I’m so happy that it actually works.”

So far, so good. According to the customers who took the time to leave comments on the brand’s site, this stuff is pretty flawless. Every one that I consulted said that it works. Let’s see what other sources have to say.

For my next stop, I hit up Reviews.io. There, the brand has a 4.8/5 star score and 117 reviews. 98% of folks who wrote in said they’d recommended it. Of the experience, one customer wrote this in their MDHair review:

They do not just sell you products like all the other companies do. They actually have real nurses that answer your question and educate you on the products.

There were no reviews on this website that went below 4 stars. Even customers who said the products were more expensive than other brands said they were worth it because a.) they work, and b.) the experience is totally different. From what I can see, the folks at MDhair don’t treat you like a customer, they treat you like a patient because, after all, these are medical products.

Now, my last MDHair review comes from My Subscription Addiction. After using the trial kit, the author wrote:

I think they’re worth every penny and here’s why: this is the first and best hair supplement I’ve used that has actually worked! I love that in addition to getting thicker hair, I’m getting B6, B9, D, folate, zinc, calcium, and other essential nutrients for healthy, natural hair growth. I’m grateful I can get shinier, thicker hair without breaking the bank.”

That review is a little salesy, but I think it’s an important part of understanding why so many people like this brand. At the end of the day, I was pleased to find that MDhair really does work. People report receiving A+ service from the brand and I (literally) didn’t find one negative review.

Is MDhair Legit?

MDhair Review

Try as I might, I couldn’t find any negative MDhair reviews online. The brand’s profile on Reviews.io has the largest number of comments and ratings, and yet, there wasn’t a single one that gave the brand a score lower than 4 stars. So with that in mind, I’d certainly say MDhair is legit, but not just that, that it really works.

This is probably a good point in this MDhair review to talk about the side effects. Though there aren’t many, the brand says you could experience mild tingling while using the products. Keep in mind that not everyone experiences the same results while using their treatment, but the fact that it’s custom means it’s made to meet you where you are.

Is MDhair Worth It?

MDhair Review

I’ve learned a lot throughout this MDhair review, and honestly, I’m blown away by the feedback for these products. In a time where custom is king and AI can help create personalized treatments, I love that this brand has taken advantage of that and integrated it into their treatment model.

For me, it means that, not only do I feel like my needs are met, but also that I’m not being forced to use or buy products that I, specifically, don’t need.

What else is there to love? The fact that you get a discounted trial kit and that the brand ships around the world. I’m also loving that many of the products are vegan and cruelty-free, and of course, the whole doctor-developed, FDA-cleared banners bring me some peace about what I”m using.

MDhair Promotions & Discounts

MDhair Review

One of the reasons people like this brand so much is the affordable prices. You can get an entire trial system for under $30, and that itself is a huge discount compared to other treatments out there. Letting you see the results for yourself before you commit to more, the discounted trial is a huge perk to choosing MDhair.

Where to Buy MDhair

MDhair Review

Right now, you can only buy the brand’s individual treatments and systems from MDhair.com. I bumped into a few products on Amazon and Walmart which look similar but are not the same thing. Because MDhair uses an AI algorithm to customize your treatment, you will need to shop directly with the brand online.
