About Fliteboard

Fliteboard Review

Efoil is probably the coolest method of transportation we have, right up there with piloting a private helicopter and riding a unicycle (okay, I’m joking about the last one).

For those uninformed, it’s like surfing, except you don’t need a wave or a wake. You’re essentially flying over water on a board, and the company most synonymous with the sport is Fliteboard

Advertising itself as “the world’s most advanced electric hydrofoil,” it’s easy to believe that’s the case. After all, the brand was founded by former kite-surfing world record holder David Trewern.

By hosting the multinational efoil race in 2021, Fliteboard has also done more to bring efoil to the mainstream than I’ve done to show my mom that I love her on Mother’s Day.

Nowadays, Fliteboards are available in countries across the globe.

In this Fliteboard review, I will look at what sets their boards apart from the pack. Keep reading to find out about the following:

  • Fliteboard’s best-selling products
  • What customers think of Fliteboard

Pros and Cons

Fliteboard Review

The first order of business is to tell you Flitboard’s pros and cons, which I’ll get to now.

Pros

  1. Innovative Technology: Fliteboard utilizes advanced technology to create a powerful electric hydrofoil system, providing a smooth and thrilling ride on the water.
  2. Eco-Friendly: Fliteboard is an electric-powered surfboard, producing zero emissions and reducing the environmental impact compared to traditional gasoline-powered watercraft.
  3. Versatility: Fliteboard can be enjoyed in various water conditions, including calm lakes, rivers, and open ocean. Its versatility allows riders to explore different water environments.
  4. Quiet Operation: The electric motor of Fliteboard operates quietly, allowing riders to enjoy the serenity of the water without the noise and disturbance associated with traditional watercraft.
  5. Maneuverability: Fliteboard’s hydrofoil design allows for excellent maneuverability and control. Riders can experience precise turns, smooth gliding, and the ability to navigate through waves and choppy waters.

Cons

  1. Price: Fliteboard is a high-end water sports product, and the initial cost can be significant. The board, battery, and accessories can be quite expensive, making it less accessible to budget-conscious individuals.
  2. Learning Curve: Riding a Fliteboard requires some skill and practice. Balancing on the hydrofoil and controlling the board may take time to master, especially for beginners who are new to hydrofoil surfing.
  3. Limited Range: Fliteboard’s battery life determines the range and duration of each ride. Depending on the battery capacity and riding style, riders may have to plan their sessions accordingly to avoid running out of battery power.
  4. Maintenance and Repair: Fliteboard’s complex electric and hydrofoil components may require specialized maintenance and repair. Any damage or malfunction could potentially be costly to fix or require professional assistance.
  5. Weight and Transportation: Fliteboard, with its electric motor and hydrofoil assembly, can be relatively heavy and bulky. Transporting and storing the board may require additional effort and space compared to traditional surfboards.

Features

Fliteboard Review

It’s important to note that experiences and opinions about Fliteboard can vary among different riders. Consider your skill level, budget, and preferences when deciding whether Fliteboard is the right choice for you.

Here are some key features of the company’s products:

  2. Electric Propulsion: Fliteboard is powered by an electric motor, providing a quiet and emission-free ride. The electric propulsion system offers instant torque, allowing riders to accelerate quickly and reach high speeds.
  3. Modular Design: Fliteboard’s modular design allows for easy assembly and disassembly. The board can be separated into three main components (board, mast, and foil) for convenient transport and storage.
  4. Multiple Board Options: Fliteboard offers different board options to suit various riding preferences and skill levels. These options include the Fliteboard PRO, Fliteboard AIR, and Fliteboard ULTRA, each with specific features and performance characteristics.

Fliteboard Review

Fliteboard Review

The basic fiberglass Fliteboard is designed for beginners, as its name suggests. There aren’t any extra bells or whistles, allowing newcomers to adjust to the board’s low elevation. It’s spacious enough to support newbies who are likely getting used to balancing above the water.

This Fliteboard can support riders up to 265 pounds and comes in three different finishes – fiberglass, carbon classic, and carbon. The base model starts at $9,995

Fliteboard Pro Review

Though the next item in my Fliteboard review is less supportive (it can only hold up to 220 pounds), that’s because it’s lighter and more narrow. As such, the Fliteboard Pro earns its name. It’s the efoil board for pros, as it can carve through waves and the wind with the same ferocity that I carve through hummus at three in the morning.

The standard Fliteboard Pro model costs $9,995.

Fliteboard Ultra Review

The Fliteboard Ultra is the stubbiest of all the boards in my Fliteboard review. However, this property gives it a unique advantage in that it can power through the water. It’s a challenge to ride, but one that’s calling your name if you’re an adrenaline junkie.

This is the most expensive item listed, as the base Ultra costs $12,295.

Fliteboard Air Review

Finally, we come to the Air, which is easily the most relaxing product in this Fliteboard review. Its dimensions and weight encourage listless journeys since it’s the largest and heaviest Fliteboard efoil on the market. It’s also the only one that comes in pink.

It can hold passengers that weigh up to 265 pounds. The Fliteboard Air costs $10,995.

Who Is Fliteboard For?

Fliteboard Review

You’ve seen the Fliteboard efoil prices, so you already know that these boards are for folks with some cash on hand. Flightboard is one of the most expensive efoil brands, but they’re also one of the best for beginners because their boards come in larger sizes.

Fliteboard Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Fliteboard Review

Many Fliteboard reviews from customers can be summarized by this statement one shopper left on Reddit. “ I think Fliteboard and Lift are like Porsche and Ferrari. You do sort of get what you pay for.” Fliteboard’s reputation as the prestige efoil brand was well-earned in the eyes of consumers, but it came at a high price.

There are many other efoil companies with lower prices, but none of them compared to Fliteboard’s maneuverability

That’s obvious from the brand’s outstanding reception on Facebook. More than 40 customers gave Fliteboard an average score of 4.2/5 stars. More than anything else, Fliteboard was adored by beginners for how fun the boards were to ride. Users said they can be handled well enough that even first-time riders could enjoy it.

Here’s a Fliteboard review from Facebook that expands upon that point. “My son and I tried out a Fliteboard last week and it was amazing.  Their rep, Derek, did a great job helping us understand the board.  It is an amazing ride and cool technology.  We both got up on the board the first time and while it does take some getting used to, it was super fun to “ride” around the lake and hear the waves. Check them out!

The only potential negative I read in customer Fliteboard reviews was that the products took forever to ship. This is to be expected as efoils are still a new concept and expensive to create. However, that price wasn’t too much to pay in the eyes of this happy shopper on Facebook;

Yes they are expensive but the quality is great and it is definitely worth parting with that amount of cash. The only thing is the waiting time from actually ordering it is way too long ! Please speed this up ! “

In conclusion, Fliteboard efoils were deemed worthy of their hefty price for their fun factor and how comfortable they were for newcomers.

Is Fliteboard Legit?

I’m happy to report that there weren’t any red flags that popped up during my research. Fliteboard is a safe and trustworthy brand.

Is Fliteboard Worth It?

Fliteboard Review

If you have even a passing interest in efoils and the cash to afford a Fliteboard then I think they’re worth it. The customization options, range of products, and sublime craftsmanship demonstrate that they sit at the top of the efoil food chain.

How To Choose The Best Fliteboard

Fliteboard Review

Before you go hunting for “Fliteboard for sale” on eBay, ask yourself these questions:

  • Where would I use a Fliteboard efoil? The closer you live to a large body of water, the more often you’ll likely use it.
  • Where does your previous experience with surfing, snowboarding, or skateboarding put you in the efoil hierarchy? Would you be a total beginner, or would you have enough experience to handle an intermediate-level efoil board?
  • Consider the customization possibilities like additional battery life, more propulsion, and better wing control so that you can design your perfect efoil.

Alternatives

If you’re looking for alternative brands to Fliteboard in the electric hydrofoil surfboard market, here are a few options worth considering:

  1. Lift Foils offers a range of electric hydrofoil surfboards designed for different skill levels and preferences. Their boards are known for their high-performance capabilities and quality construction.
  2. Radinn specializes in electric jetboards, which are surfboard-style watercraft with an electric motor. While not strictly a hydrofoil surfboard, Radinn’s boards provide a similar exhilarating experience on the water.
  3. Lampuga produces electric surfboards that combine speed, maneuverability, and ease of use. Their boards are designed to provide a thrilling ride and are suitable for various water conditions.

FAQ

Fliteboard Review

Who owns Fliteboard?

Fliteboard’s founder David Trewern owns the company.

How long does a Fliteboard battery last?

The majority of Fliteboard products can last up to two hours on a single charge. This is longer than the battery life Lift eFoil boasts since those usually only support 90 minutes of riding time.

How much does a Fliteboard cost?

I’ve covered the cost of all products in this Fliteboard review, but they usually sit around $13,000 without including shipping and handling.

Why is efoil so expensive?

There are three big reasons why efoil – including the boards in this Fliteboard review – are expensive:

  1. The pieces and parts aren’t made as frequently
  2. Constantly innovating designs requires testing and troubleshooting, which increases the cost of production
  3. There are only a few efoil brands operating, so there’s not enough competition to reduce the prices

How difficult is Fliteboard?

Based on what I’ve read, anybody with experience skateboarding, surfing, or snowboarding should easily adapt to efoiling and Fliteboard. It’ll still be tricky for newcomers to get the hang of it, but it’s not impossible.

What is Fliteboard’s Shipping Policy?

Fliteboard has a lengthy lead-up time before they can ship orders due to customer demand. You may have to wait a few weeks before they ship your purchase. Here are the average delivery times for most regions:

  • Australia and New Zealand – 3 to 10 business days
  • Europe – 3 to 10 business days
  • United States – 14 business days

They also charge shipping fees which can reach as high as $1,200 for customers in Alaska and $800 for Canadian shoppers. Customers in the continental United States can expect a $400 shipping fee.

What is Fliteboard’s Returns Policy?

Fliteboard do not accept any return unless they fall under manufacturer’s defects, in which case customers have a two-year warranty period.
