About Kitsch

Kitsch Review

If you look up the definition of “kitsch’” you’ll see something like this: “Art, objects, or design considered to be in poor taste because of excessive garishness or sentimentality, but sometimes appreciated in an ironic or knowing way.” But Kitsch art isn’t what this article is about. Nor is it about Kitsch kitchens, Kitsch decorating, or Kitsch painting.

Kitsch (the brand) redefines the meaning of the word entirely by offering quality personal care products and accessories for women. For this company, “kitsch” has nothing to do with art or decorating but more in the sense of a niche. Our Kitsch review has the latest scoop on what this brand offers, so stay tuned.

The company brings their sleep, skincare, haircare, and beauty/hair items to women worldwide. But they’re most known for their cute hair accessories, including the ever-popular scrunchy, hair ties, clips, headbands, and many more.

Kitsch has featured in notable media outlets such as Elle, Editorialist, DuJour, Forbes, Hey Mama, InStyle, and Makeup. And the brand is popular on social media, with 114k followers on Facebook and 484k people following them on Instagram.

They’ve also been reviewed by several influential Youtubers such as Jazzmine Rodriguez, SimplyShellaby, Solimar Williams, and Lisa Huff. Celebrities allegedly sporting Kitsch accessories include Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Camilla Mendez, Kerry Washington, Hailey Baldwin, and Alessandra Ambrosio.

This Kitsch review will give you an insider’s look at the company, including its policies, practices, customer reviews, product ratings, and much more. By the end of this article, you will be able to decide for yourself whether or not this brand is worth your while.

Overview of Kitsch

Kitsch Review

Cassandra Thurswell established Kitsch in 2010 in Los Angeles, California, where it currently resides. Thurswell moved to LA from Wisconsin to create a product label for women that would produce high-quality, accessible, easy-to-use items at affordable prices.

She started by hand-making accessories in her small LA apartment and selling them door-to-door. She also made a lot of cold calls. Little did she know that her journey would bring her to the present moment: with her successful company selling her products in over 27 countries worldwide in over 20,000 retail locations.

Before we get to the rest of our Kitsch review, we’ll look at some brand highlights.

Kitsch XL Snap Clips Review

Whether they’re being used to keep your hair in place or as cute #throwback accessories, snap clips are trending amongst fashionistas everywhere. Kitsch’s XL Snap Clips come in two colors, hematite or rose gold, and they measure approximately 3.5” in length per piece.

These clips appear incredibly strong, holding even large chunks of hair in place. Each purchase gives you two of these highly-reviewed, ultra adorable hair accessories.

A set of two XL Snap Clips is only $8.

Kitsch Scalp Exfoliator Review

Bet you didn’t know that you can exfoliate your scalp just like you can exfoliate your face and body (we sure didn’t). The Kitsch Scalp Exfoliator looks like it does double-duty as an exfoliator tool and a head massager with its large, sturdy, comb-like design.

This product promises to improve blood flow and stimulate hair follicles to grow more hair. Regular use will reduce dirt, oil, and toxin build-up on your scalp. This little tool can also function as a detangler, which means less breakage. For best use, gently massage it over your scalp while washing your hair.

The regular price is $8. Or, you can subscribe and save 20% and get free shipping. If you do, you’ll only pay $7.

Kitsch Rose Quartz Facial Roller Review

These gemstone facial rollers are just as beautiful as they are beneficial for the skin. The Rose Quartz Facial Roller features a stunning rose quartz handle and roller head, with rose gold metal detailing. By gently rolling it onto your face, you’ll feel relaxed and any tension will melt away.

With regular use, this practice could help smooth out the skin, and increase blood flow. In time, you might even notice less fine lines and wrinkles, which is definitely a perk!  You can also use the roller to massage in serums or oils for better absorption. This might just become your new favorite beauty tool.

The Rose Quartz Facial Roller is $31.

Kitsch Ice Roller Review

Facial treatments are great, but not when they cost you an arm and a leg! With this roller, you can treat yourself to your own at-home facial. Customers are raving about the great results they’re getting from the Kitsch Ice Roller. It features medical-grade stainless steel, which could help improve your skin in many ways.

Just roll it onto your face for a relaxing, spa-like experience. This magical little tool could help heal and get rid of puffiness, tighten up your skin, and get the blood flowing, so you might look much younger in time. It’s also great to use if your skin is red, irritated, or sore for any reason, because it can soothe and bring down inflamed areas. Plus, it’s super relaxing!

Kitsch recommends that you use their Ice Roller daily for best results. Get it now for $24.

Kitsch Microfiber Hair Towel Review

Do you know the dangers of using an abrasive towel on your skin and hair? Not only can it irritate your skin, it can also worsen frizz and damage delicate locks. So, ditch the bath towel. The super-popular Kitsch Microfiber Hair Towel is a better option. With this cute, snug towel, your hair will dry quickly and harm-free.

So, you can make sure your hair is well cared for with this plush towel that feels silky against the skin. Practical and functional, it also fits both short and long hairstyles. Who is Kitsch for?

Kitsch Review

Kitsch markets itself towards young women, but their products could easily transcend any age (or gender, since pretty much anyone can have long hair these days!) Although technically anyone can use these products, Kitsch fashion-forward products will likely appeal to many women, especially if they love beauty products and accessories.

To give a quick and snappy answer to the above question, this brand could be for you if you have a face and hair. All their products are carefully designed to promote women’s overall wellbeing. And the brand seems to encourage healthy, self-care habits, which all women need.

They also have a wide range of products, such as pillowcases, eye masks, caps and bonnets, face masks, towels, facial rollers, shampoos and conditioners, hairbrushes and combs, and a wide variety of hair accessories such as pins and clips. So you won’t run out of supplies for your beauty regime.

Comparison: Kitsch vs. Invisibobble

Kitsch Review

Invisibobble is a brand based in Germany that became popular through its unique and useful hair tie selection. Founder Sophie Trelles-Tvede was inspired to create the company after going to a party one night during her university career, sporting a phone cord as a hair tie instead of her usual headache-inducing, irritating elastic.

She noticed that the phone cord decreased her head pain and her hair kinks being less “kinky.” So, she decided to create a company to share her vision with the world. The first trial launch of the product line happened in Germany in 2012. Then, the products hit the international market in 2013.

The Invisibobbles are put together in Asia, but then they’re sent to the brand’s warehouse in Germany for quality control. From there, they ship out to customers and retailers all over the world. This international, teamwork approach to production differs from Kitsch, which does all of its work within the US.

Kitsch Review

Stay tuned to see a direct comparison of the two brand’s products and prices in this Kitsch review. We’ll take a look at similar items off each brand’s site.

The Invisibobble Sprunchie in Purrfection is quite similar to the Leopard Print Microfiber Towel Scrunchie from Kitsch, save for the different materials. The former contains the Invisibobble signature phone-cord elastic inside the scrunchie material, and the latter is made of a towel-like fabric.

You can buy the Invisibobble Sprunchie for $7, and the Kitsch scrunchie for $18 for a pack of two. So the Kitsch scrunchie is slightly pricier overall. Kitsch also has its own version of the original Invisibobble, which it sells for $5 for a four-pack, which is a smidge more affordable than the Invisibobble price of roughly $6 for a three-pack.

Kitsch Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Kitsch Review

Kitsch knocks it out of the park with its reviews and consumer loyalty. People of all ages and hair textures praise the brand as their one-stop-shop for meeting their specific hair care needs. This Kitsch review has plucked a handful of reviews from the company website to show you what we mean.

The Kitsch Nourishing Shampoo Bar holds an impressive 4.9/5 stars out of 675 reviews. Here’s just one of the nearly 600 5 star reviews:

“I’ll be honest that at first I was skeptical, I was afraid my hair wouldn’t respond in a good way. I am not being dramatic but the first use I instantly felt the difference. I struggled a lot with dry scalp and my hair feeling dry. This shampoo helped me out so much, I no longer have a dry scalp and my hair is SO smooth and silky!”

The praises keep coming when browsing external reviews on places like SiteJabber, which gives the brand 4.5/5 stars from 189 reviews. The top positive comment reads as follows:

Kitsch Review

“We just had our anniversary yesterday and I thought of giving her the beauty care bundle from Kitsch. She’s kinda ‘passionate’ for beauty care products that she can’t seem to let go of them no matter what time or place. Needless to say, she was very happy with the gift! Many thanks also to the awesome customer service for handing the product on time and flawlessly.”

Trustpilot also gives the brand a 4.8/5 from 470 reviews, with many comments loving the quality of the products. They’re also accredited with the Better Business Bureau, holding an A+ ranking and a 4.5/5 star rating from customers.

No brand is perfect, but to use one customer’s words when describing an issue she had with her shampoo bars, “Kitsch is so supportive and kind in terms of customer service, mistakes happen and they were eager to make it right.”

Is Kitsch Worth It?

Kitsch Review

To be honest, can you find similar products elsewhere for cheaper? Yes. That said, will they be of the same quality as they are from Kisch? Probably not. And this company’s products aren’t exactly expensive in the first place. The brand provides mostly affordable skin and hair care items to people worldwide.

There’s nothing that makes Kitsch stand out from the crowd, so to speak. All that said, it’s still a great brand that produces quality products people seem to love. And they provide you with cruelty-free, vegan, reasonably priced, super accessible, easily returnable items. And did we mention the products are super chic, cute, and stylish?

If you want to get yourself some “bougie” hair accessories and body-care products for “un-bougie” prices, try Kitsch out! Our Kitsch review thinks the brand is a great choice for women all over the world.
