Overview of Maap

Maap Review

Maap was founded by Oliver Cousins and Jarrad Smith, two cycling-crazy Melbourne entrepreneurs. Oliver and Jarrad wanted to establish a cycling apparel company that creates high-quality and stylish cycling gear to provide the best comfort and mobility for avid cyclists.

A huge part of this company’s mission is to produce their clothing in a sustainable way, and they are not cutting any corners! According to their website, Maap’s “ultimate goal” for the future is to produce all of their apparel from recycled materials and ensure that their packaging is either compostable or recyclable.

As they put it, “The majority of our printed fabrics releasing from 2020 onwards will now utilise Green Soul technology combining the use of 100% sustainable recycled fibres with the most environmentally friendly dyeing and finishing processes with no compromise on the performance of the fabrics.”

Sounds great to me! Keep reading my Maap review as I take a look at some of the highlights of buying from this brand.

Maap Women’s Cycling Apparel Review

Maap cycling apparel is designed to keep you feeling comfortable (and looking great) while you ride. Take a look at their bestsellers for women!

Maap Women’s Voyage Pro Air Jersey Review

This lightweight jersey is designed to be breathable and keep you cool and comfortable as you cycle. Maap makes the Women’s Voyage Pro Air Jersey from mostly recycled polyester and elastane. It’s “micro perforations” on the chest and “large scale mesh” on the sleeves and sides ensure that you can release some steam as you fly down the road!

The Women’s Voyage Pro Air Jersey has a light-blue fabric for the upper with purple and navy blue highlighting the bottom of the shirt. This jersey gives you good coverage as its zipper extends to your neck and the sleeves end just above the elbow. The Women’s Voyage Pro-Air Jersey is thick enough to offer sun protection with an SPF of 50.

Maap offers a “Crash Replacement Warranty” on this jersey – if you fall from your bike and damage this shirt, you can receive 40% off your replacement jersey!

Buy the Women’s Voyage Pro Air Jersey at Maap.cc for $215AUD. It is available in sizes XXS to L in Sky Blue.

Maap Women’s Pro Bib 2.0 Review

The Women’s Pro Bib 2.0 was designed to keep you comfy on even your longest cycling journeys.

Maap explains that they designed this bib with “four way stretch 3D aero structure” so that it will hold tight to your body while still allowing a full range of movement. They also claim that it “enhances blood flow and recovery during workouts.” This bib should feel lightweight and airy – it has a mesh panel on the back to help prevent overheating. Its fabrics are meant to not pill or feel abrasive against your skin.

These shorts have a simple, black or navy design that extends from above the knee up to the waist. Here, two suspenders attach the front of this bib to the back.

This bib is available in sizes XXS to XL. Buy the Women’s Pro Bib 2.0 for $390AUD in navy blue or black at Maap.cc.

Maap Men’s Cycling Apparel Review

Maap makes men’s versions of these bestsellers too – check out the Voyage Pro Air LS Jersey and the Team Thermal Bib Tights!

Maap Voyage Pro Air LS Jersey Review

The Voyage Pro Air LS Jersey is a long-sleeved jersey that will protect you from the wind and sun without making you feel stuffy or constrained. It is meant to be used in hot riding conditions of temperatures ranging from 20 to 40 degrees Celsius.

Maap’s Voyage Pro Air LS Jersey has the following features:

  • Mesh sleeves and a mesh back panel – so you can ride through the heat without getting too hot yourself!
  • Long sleeves
  • A zipper that you can adjust up to your neck
  • SPF protection of 50

While doing my research for this Maap review I found that this jersey is made from mostly recycled yarns of 90% Polyester and 10% Elastane. It is also BlueSign approved, which means that it was manufactured with sustainability in mind!

Buy the Voyage Pro Air LS Jersey in sizes XS to XXL for $225AUD at Maap.cc.

Maap Team Thermal Bib Tights Review

If you’re planning on toughing out some cold conditions, you’ll want to look at the Team Thermal Bib Tights! This full-leg bib will help keep you protected from the rain and chill on your winter rides – it’s made for weather that’s about 5-15 degree celsius.

I discovered that these bib tights are made from “compressive fabric” with a “water-resistant coating”. It’s chamois fabric is “high density” to ensure you don’t lose too much heat. The Team Thermal Bib Tights are made from 85% Polyamide and 15% Elastane, and should feel insulating while still being lightweight.

These tights are available in navy blue or black in sizes from XS – XL. Buy the Team Thermal Bib Tights from Maap.cc for $345AUD.

Maap will appeal to cyclists who are looking for high quality cycling gear and want a ton of options! Because Maap’s product range is so varied they should have whatever kind of cycling gear you need all in one place.

Both men and women will have a lot to choose from at Maap, and their Archive Sale section is a great way to get into cycling clothes if you’re on a bit of a budget.

This brand also caters to cyclists who are conscientious consumers. The fact that they are using recycled yarns and have certifications such as BlueSign shows that they want to help move the clothing industry in the right direction!

Customers who are eco-conscious will love that Maap plans to transition into using all recycled materials and make sure their packaging is recyclable or compostable.

Maap Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Maap Review

Maap shares customer reviews on their product pages, where most of their buyers praised this brand for its thoughtful design. One woman who bought the Pro Bib Short wrote in her Maap review, “These bibs are the real deal. I’ve never felt such technical, durable, comfortable, and supportive fabric in bibs before. This is no ordinary lycra! The chamois, the straps, everything is top notch and ready for long days in the saddle. The leg grip is so soft, but grippy and comfortable. You are getting what you pay for.”

On TrustPilot this company has mixed reviews with a 2.7 / 5 star rating based on 21 reviews.

Some customers were disappointed with shipping times or customer service, and mentioned that making returns was not always easy. However other buyers were thrilled with the quality of their purchases and loved their style and durability.

One customer wrote in his Maap review, Service and kit are always excellent. We had a slight diff of opinion over the space age top end bibs which are a very different blue which I wasn’t that into, but the performance is great. Great performance is a standard for this brand.”

Another customer echoed this experience and shared in his Maap review, “My current bib shorts, the 2.0 bib have done over 15k kilometres and are still going strong and one of their long sleeve fleece lined jerseys from about 4 years ago is, hands down, one of the best cycling clothing purchases I’ve made — stylish, warm, and, in my humble opinion, a perfect pro-like slim fit.”

While writing this Maap review I also found that this company’s Team Bib Evo Shorts were reviewed by the expert at CyclingWeekly.com.

Their writer found that the fit and feel of these shorts was excellent and reported in his Maap review, “Pulling on the Team Bib Evo bib shorts, there’s a reassuringly compressive and supportive feel. The four-way stretch of the fabric meant they moulded perfectly to my skin and weren’t constrictive in any way.”

This company’s products were also tested out by the reviewer at Road.cc, who found their gear comfortable even for long days on the road. He wrote in his Maap review, “On rides of up to about seven hours I’ve found the MAAP shorts perfectly pleasant companions. The pad works well, and I’ve not experienced any irritation from logos, stitching, seams or straps. They are simply very good.”

For the most part this company has some solid reviews. While their products are not cheap, most buyers feel that they are getting their money’s worth in quality, comfort, and functionality.

They make sure to tell you how their products are meant to be used, and include features such as micro-perforations, mesh panels, full zips and suspenders to keep you comfy and mobile as you bike.
