PlushBeds Mattress Review

Since 2008, PlushBeds has been a leading manufacturer and retailer of American-made, all natural, sustainable, and affordable sleep products. PlushBeds was featured on top media sources such as Fortune, Inc. 5000, Vogue, Good Morning America, Apartment Therapy, and Elle Decor. The company has earned over 80 awards, including Best Organic Mattress 2020 from SleepFoundation.org and Best Mattress Toppers from New York Magazine.

This PlushBeds mattress review will take an in-depth look at the brand and its mattresses, customer ratings, promotions, and more, to help you decide if their products are worth the buy.

Overview of PlushBeds Mattress

PlushBeds Mattress Review

When the father of Michael Hughes, CEO of PlushBeds, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the young age of 40, Michael learned that exposure to certain environmental chemicals can increase the risk of developing Parkinson’s disease. So, when his daughter was born, Michael and his wife thoroughly researched and eliminated as many chemicals in their home as they could. This meant looking for healthy, toxin-free mattresses.

They discovered this type of product was not easy to find and that most mattresses were made from materials like urethane foams covered in potentially harmful fire barriers. So, the Hughes founded PlushBeds in 2007 to create healthier sleep options for themselves and others.

For over 10 years, their high standards and commitment to superior customer experience have made them one of America’s largest manufacturers of affordable, natural and organic latex mattresses. PlushBeds vows to remain an all-American company. They make every mattress themselves in their 80,000 square-foot factory in Camarillo, California.

PlushBeds has a simple, three-part mission:

  1. Make a Better Mattress, In a Better Way.
  2. Change How America Sleeps.
  3. Use Our Voice to Inspire Change.

PlushBeds mattresses and toppers are hypoallergenic, all natural, and antimicrobial, with no toxins or harsh chemicals. They’re offered in sizes ranging from Twin up to Split King. I’ll showcase their most popular mattresses and toppers so you can get a sense of which would be the most suitable for you. Hopefully this PlushBeds mattress review won’t make you sleepy, but personally, I’m always down for a nap.

Botanical Bliss Mattress

The Botanical Bliss is the kind of mattress to go with if you suffer from back issues or other aches and pains. It’s recommended by orthopedic specialists and chiropractors. This plush mattress is very comfortable and supportive, and you should feel limber and pain-free in the morning from its pressure point relief. Just look at that contouring!

You can choose between Medium and Firm with the Botanical Bliss. Medium is the most popular option, ideal for side sleepers and most sleepers. The firm option is suitable for those weighing over 275 lbs, stomach sleepers, and back sleepers. The firmness you select determines the order of the latex layers your mattress arrives in, and you can actually swap the layers to go between Medium and Firm!

The Botanical Bliss features organic latex layers and a top cover containing breathable, machine-washable organic cotton and organic wool for natural temperature regulation. One PlushBeds Botanical Bliss review from SleepAdvisor indicated this mattress is good for people who are seeking more bounce and tend to overheat in their sleep, along with those who value eco-friendly products.

The Botanical Bliss mattress is available for $999-$2798, depending on the size. It also comes in three different heights–9”, 10” or 12”–so pricing goes up from there.

Luxury Bliss Mattress

The Luxury Bliss is a premium hybrid latex mattress, featuring a supportive top layer of organic latex and breathable, machine-washable organic cotton cover, with a cool organic wool barrier to prevent you from overheating at night. The outer wool layer is fire resistant, and you never know if or when this could protect you in a nighttime house fire (knock on wood).

The Luxury Bliss has a fabric-encased coil core that makes it unlike other hybrids on the market: where typical interlocking coils can cause uncomfortable pressure points, the fabric-encased coils of the Luxury Bliss respond individually to pressure throughout your body. The result is superior support, minimal motion transfer, and a comfortably buoyant sleep

The Luxury Bliss mattress is available in Medium and Medium-Firm versions. Its layers are fixed in place, so make sure you choose the one that’s most appropriate for you (medium is best for side sleepers and most sleepers, while medium firm is beneficial for stomach and back sleepers). This PlushBeds mattress ranges from $799-$1,798.

Ocean Mist Mattress

Have you noticed that PlushBeds mattresses have really zen names? Ocean Mist, ahhh. This mattress features 3 inches of cool gel technology memory foam that’s 30% cooler than regular memory foam. It naturally wicks away moisture and provides support by molding to the shape of your body, with a plush top layer.

Below the foam is a high density 6” mattress core containing polyurethane that prevents sagging and adds further support. These layers sit atop a sturdy 8” orthopedic fabric-covered wood foundation, which conveniently replaces a boxspring. This base layer allows the bed to support sleepers up to 600 lbs. The Ocean Mist mattress is encased in a machine-washable cover.

The Ocean Mist offers a rejuvenating sleep and is priced affordably for a gel memory foam mattress. This PlushBeds mattress is only available in Medium-Soft for $549 – 1,248.

Cool Bliss Mattress

The Cool Bliss is PlushBeds’ premium gel memory foam model, containing 5 comfort layers that work together for a better sleep: an airy organic cotton stretch cover, 3” of patented memory foam for pressure absorption, a supportive layer of 2” of natural latex, followed by a 5” supportive core and orthopedic foundation options.

Buyers can choose between natural spruce wood and an adjustable recline/incline foundation. I would probably get the latter option since it has an inherently higher value. The Cool Bliss is classified as Medium Soft with minimal to no motion transfer. This is almost as luxury as memory foam gets, without being absurdly priced. The mattress rings in at $1,049 – $2,198 depending on the size.

Natural Latex Topper

If you’re not in a position to invest in a new mattress, a mattress topper can make a significant difference in comfort. The Natural Latex Topper offers support and pressure point relief. It’s OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and GreenGuard Gold certified, available in 2” and 3” models.

This PlushBeds mattress topper is available in Soft, Medium, Medium Firm, and Extra Firm. You can grab the 2” thick Natural Latex Topper for $206-$365 or $262-$487 for the 3” thick option.

Memory Foam Topper

The Memory Foam Topper will add that extra layer of cooling comfort to help you sleep like a baby, and the best part is you don’t have to pay the price for a mattress. It’s CertiPUR-US® and GreenGuard Gold certified and, like the rest of PlushBeds’ products, it’s made in the US.

The 2” thick version of this topper is priced at $154-$281. If you prefer something a bit thicker, the 3” version costs between $206-$389. For both models, you can choose between 4 lb and 5.34 lb densities, the higher density being more firm. Keep reading this PlushBeds mattress review to find out what customers think of the products.

Our Verdict

PlushBeds Mattress Review

In this PlushBeds mattress review, we provide our impression of PlushBeds and whether or not its mattresses are a worthwhile purchase. Based on the research we conducted, buying from PlushBeds makes sense if having a natural, organic, high-quality mattress is important and if you’re prepared to assemble and try out a mattress that may not work for you in the end. After all, everyone is different and what’s comfortable and offers pain relief for one person may not do so for others—mattresses are really about trial and error.

If you decide to give PlushBeds a try, remember that even the most reputable and trustworthy brands will have some negative reviews. There is a chance that you’ll experience an issue that other customers had, but it seems more likely that you’ll have a positive experience with PlushBeds. If the mattress doesn’t live up to your expectations, you can simply return it (more on this in the FAQ section of the PlushBeds mattress review).

FAQ

PlushBeds Warranty

PlushBeds offers a 25-year warranty on its products. If a manufacturing or material defect occurs during the first 10 years, PlushBeds will repair or replace (at their option) the defective mattress. If defects such as splitting or cracking occur from normal wear and tear, during the remaining 15 years, they will repair the mattress at a handling cost to the customer, or replace the mattress at a prorated charge to the customer.

During the first year of the remaining 15 year period, the prorated replacement charge is 50% of the replacement item’s purchase price. The prorated charge will increase by 3% increments for each subsequent year of the prorated period, but won’t be more than 99% of the prevailing official retail price, exclusive of transportation cost.

The warranty does not cover the following:

  2. Slight body impressions (less than 1.5” deep)
  3. Comfort preference
  4. Transportation charges for return and shipping
  5. Abuse or unsanitary conditions
