I ordered a Rad Mini 4 because I wanted a folding electric bike to take on travel, and according to them when I ordered it would arrive well before my departure – and I ordered the special front and rear racks. Rad grabbed my $1700+ and shipped the racks right away. But no bike… so I called them – response – well early next month (not June 30 as promised.) At this point their website was still promising my original delivery date, while on the phone they were humming-and-hawing and unable to say when. This went on for about 3 weeks. Finally it was going to have to be shipped to my first point on my travels – but uhhhh no, could commit to even delivery 3 weeks late.
One their website excuses, excuses. One was clearly dishonest, the blocking of the Panama Canal – for two reasons. First that was a 4 day wonder. Second, Rad is on the West Coast and the bikes come from China – they don’t go through either the Panama or Suez Canal (the West Coast is straight across the Pacific from China) – it was an obvious lie.
I gave up, demanded a cancellation and refund. This lasted to the day before my morning departure – they kept insisting on delayed refund, and only partial until the racks were returned. I threatened small claims case and pointed out that they’d had my money while I waited on the bike – they’d better give me mine and wait on the racks … and by the way, they could wait until after I returned.
I’m now back and looked at the shipping labels for the racks – “BILL SENDER”. Yes, Rad expects me to pay to ship these racks back to them. That’s not happening. They lied when selling me the racks that I’d have the bike to go with them in time for them to be useful to me.
As for customer service – largely useless.Slow to answer the phone, have no authority to do anything, have no knowledge of when bikes are going to be shipped, can’t provide any useful information. Mushrooms, kept in the dark and fed on….
Their onsite customer reviews are also sanitised to appear 5 star … it takes little searching to find a lot of angry customers. Their marketing person seems to think fibs and lies will solve the problem. It won’t.
