Scuba Review

When you think of diving, the first word that pops into your head (after “water) is “Scuba,” which is why this Scuba review will focus on the distribution company that’s become a central hub for all things diving-related.

The company boasts more than 33k Instagram followers and supplies customers with great deals on brand-name goods. I’ll look at some of those goods, their prices, and what customers have to say about them.

Overview of Scuba

Scuba Review

Scuba formerly operated under the name Leisure Pro, but recently merged with the larger Scuba entity to streamline their services. They were one of the first internet-based scuba suppliers. Currently, they own three warehouses across the United States that hold their massive inventory and allow them to ship anywhere in the country.

The next section of this Scuba review will swim through a few of the brand’s best aspects.

  • Selection of pre-owned products available on their website

Scuba Products Review

In this section of my Scuba review, I’ll run through some of the most beloved products available on their website.

Scuba Mares Pure SLS BCD

Scuba Review

The first product I’m going to speak about in this Scuba review is this buoyancy compensator. The Scuba Mares Pure SLS BCD excels in its fitting, using shoulder pads and a lumbar support system to relieve pressure on your posterior chain.

Normally, it costs $568, but you can pick it up for sale right now for $325

Here’s what one customer wrote about the Scuba Mares Pure SLS BCD. “Works great and very comfy. A couple reviews talk about the weight pockets. In reality, just pay attention which is something you should be doing as a diver. Others mention the balance on the surface. Would highly recommend a weight pocket for your tank strap. It will make surface time much easier. Love the construction and d rings”

Scuba Catalina 80 Cubic Foot Aluminum Tank with Pro Valve

Scuba Review

The Scuba Catalina 80 Cubic Foot Aluminum Tank with Pro Valve is the most popular cylinder in the diving industry, with its high flow rate and oxidation process that can protect it from corrosion.

It’s also the second item in this Scuba review that you can pick up for sale. It regularly retails at $295 but you can grab it today for $275.

Great price, and Fast free shipping. Tank worked perfectly and color choices are great for quick reference of what gas your using. I will buy more,” wrote one buyer.

Scuba Scubapro Jet Sport Full Foot Fins

Scuba Review

Fins as good as the Scuba Scubapro Jet Sport Full Foot Fins can make you feel like you’ve unlocked a real-life power-up. Their huge blades promote powerful kicks and paddles while the fin blade can cut down the resistance water may provide.

One customer wrote this about the Scuba Scubapro Jet Sport Full Foot Fins, “I purchased these as the price was fantastic. They work well and fit well. I was looking for something a bit more rugged and I am not sure that a full foot can ever quite do that compared to the use of scuba boots and a strap fin. Having said that these are a full fin, quite large and propel well. Outside of use in the ocean I use fins for leg and back strengthening in the pool. These perform well giving good resistance.

As with the other items in this Scuba review, these fins are currently on sale. You can get them for $30 instead of $78.

Scuba Mares Puck Pro Wrist Computer

Scuba Review

The Scuba Mares Puck Pro Wrist Computer is a vast improvement over Mares’ already groundbreaking wrist computer that they released in 2008. This new version features upgrades like:

  1. Algorithm-backed functions to prevent micro-bubble formation
  2. Multi-gas capacity
  3. Easy to use even while wearing thick gloves
  4. Better display and legibility

One customer described this product as, “Simple design with all the features needed for recreational diving. Allow a choice of 3 levels to calculate nitrogen. Very nice 3 minute safety stop countdown that starts automatically when above 20 feet. Single button simplicity and we found that scrolling to make adjustments are easy and infrequent. Easy to read. Great value for the price.”

The Scuba Mares Puck Pro Wrist Computer is available for $215 as it’s on sale. It regularly costs $315.

Scuba Diving Lessons Review

Scuba Review

The last product I’ll look at in this Scuba review isn’t technically a product, but it’s by far what most people are interested in. Scuba Diving Lessons are PADI-certified courses with multiple levels available. Beginners can get their feet wet for the first time while those with experience under their belts can share their skills. The classes are available in California and New York and include:

  • PADI Open Water Diver Course
  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
  • PADI Specialties
  • PADI Rescue Divers and Dive Masters

Scuba Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Scuba Review

Here are the average customer scores for the products I featured in this Scuba review.

  • Scuba Catalina 80 Cubic Foot Aluminum Tank with Pro Valve: 4.8/5 stars based on more than 140 pieces of customer feedback
  • Scuba Mares Pure SLS BCD: 4.5/5 stars based on more than 100 pieces of customer feedback
  • Scuba Mares Puck Pro Wrist Computer: 4.4/5 stars based on more than 200 pieces of customer feedback
  • Scuba Scubapro Jet Sport Full Foot Fins: 4.4/5 stars based on more than 65 pieces of customer feedback

Those scores are quite strong, but they speak to the products, not Scuba as a company. Remember, Scuba is the distributor, not the manufacturer, which means that we have to look at Scuba reviews from elsewhere to see what people thought of them. Here’s what I found.

  • Yelp: 4/5 stars based on more than 300 pieces of customer feedback
  • Reseller Ratings: 3.9/5 stars based on more than 65 pieces of customer feedback
  • Site Jabber: 2.5/5 stars based on more than 15 pieces of customer feedback

On the whole, shoppers were happy with Scuba’s service. They felt that the company was good at resolving issues, like how this buyer described their experience with the brand:

Very impressed with the sense of urgency and follow through with a lost shipment. One of the two Catalina 80 tanks I ordered was lost in the UPS distribution center in Atlanta. I contacted Scuba on Monday and they shipped a replacement by Wednesday afternoon.

That?s a customer centric company obsessed with service.

Another Scuba review echoed these compliments, going deeper into the brand’s product curation and overall customer service. They wrote:

After checking a number of sites I decided upon scuba.com. Initially because of their breadth of product.  Then I noticed how unbelievably good their pricing model was. But the primary reason I chose to do business with scuba.com was because of the help I got from customer service. Any organization can be the least expensive on a given product already given time, but I value working with people who value me as a consumer I received while trying to determine sizing”

I should note that there were some negative Scuba reviews that contained stories of headache-inducing deliveries. Some buyers said that they waited months to receive their products only to find that Scuba.com had sent them the wrong goods. Meanwhile, others said that they never received their purchases and had to chase down Scuba.com for information.

That being said, many Scuba reviews complimented the brand’s customer service in light of these situations, with one customer writing,

Been shopping here for years. They offer great pricing and a helpful, knowledgeable staff. My delivery has always been as expected and if there has been any delays they have always kept me informed. Not always the most convenient situation but as a reasonable person I understand that they are the retailer and not the manufacturer…Returns and exchanges have always been easy with no questions asked as long as I didn’t use my gear in the water.:”

Is Scuba Worth It?

Scuba Review

Though there were some complaints with Scuba’s shipping, I’d say that, overall, they’re a company that’s worth shipping with.

Scuba Promotions & Discounts

Scuba Review

There are a plethora of ways that Scuba allows shoppers to save money. The first way is that they’ll send you a Scuba discount code that knocks 10% off of your first order. You can earn this code by signing up for the brand’s email newsletter.

Additionally, you can purchase some of their products – including those listed in this Scuba review – in pre-owned conditions, which can save you a ton.

Scuba also has a healthy abundance of sales at any given moment, so it never hurts to drop in and see what sort of deals they’re running.

Where to Buy Scuba
