About Ultimate Ears

Ultimate Ears Review

With how much bad music blares from stores, public transportation, and the general public, it can seem like we’re being pressured to accept poor art as the norm.

What’s worse is that this music usually blasts from speakers that sound like potatoes baking in a microwave. It’s enough to make one pine for the finer days before music was even invented.

Fear not, dear reader, because you don’t have to live in the shadow of mediocrity forever. Ultimate Ears can help you broadcast your music tastes with pristine quality so that even if people have to hear music that grates their soul, they’ll at least hear it clearly.

The Californian company started by making audio equipment for performers before transitioning to mass-market productions. You can still hear traces of their origins in their speakers and earbuds.

They have over 192k followers on Instagram, are available worldwide, and have a star-studded list of clients like Coldplay and Sir Paul McCartney

And while you could trust those guys to give you their opinion, why not read through my Ultimate Ears review and see what I think? You’ll find out the company’s history, what their products are like, and what customers have to say about them.

Overview Of Ultimate Ears

Ultimate Ears Review

You can add Ultimate Ears to the list of inventions attributed to Van Halen, orbiting the same space as hammer-ons and two-handed guitar tapping.

Jerry Harvey was the band’s monitor engineer at the time and worked alongside drummer Alex Van Halen to create a solution to the lack of balance in the mix.

Alex couldn’t hear the other band members which could affect his timing and thus his overall performance.

So, in 1995, Harvey created the product that’d set the stage for Ultimate Ears. He made a molded earpiece for Van Halen that combined different technologies to reduce the noise of the crowd and optimize the music

Their quality was passed onto other acts like Skid Row and Engelbert Humperdinck, at which point Harvey released he’d struck gold.

He went on to found Ultimate Ears as the preferred choice of bands like the Rolling Stones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Rita Ora

As you can probably predict, the company didn’t stay within the realm of performers forever. Logitech bought them in 2008 and, seeing how the trend towards iPod and personal music devices was strong, they created ear devices for consumers.

It’s instrumental to note Ultimate Ears’ history as a performer’s product because it shows that they understand quality. They prioritize clear mixing and deep feedback with their products because that’s what live musicians need at their concerts.

First, they brought their expertise to the realm of speakers, which is mostly where they remain today.

These speakers (i.e. the ones you’ll read about in this Ultimate Ears review) reflect a deep knowledge of audio balancing. Ultimate Ears understand that loudness isn’t the priority with speakers, it’s quality.

They use that same approach with their Ultimate Ears earbuds, which is a relatively new endeavor for them. You’ll read about them and other products after we go through the highlights section of this Ultimate Ears review.

  • Esteemed history of working with some of the biggest entertainers on the planet

Ultimate Ears Review

I’ll be covering the most important items in my Ultimate Ears review as their product catalog isn’t exceptionally deep. That’s not an insult by any means, of course, as specificity breeds excellence.

Ultimate Ears Bluetooth Speaker Review

The best way to set the scene for any occasion is with the right soundtrack, and while the Ultimate Ears Bluetooth speakers I’ve included here may not improve your tastes, they can breathe new life into your music.

Ultimate Ears Hyperboom

I may as well start this Ultimate Ears review with a bang, and a bassy one at that. The Ultimate Ears Hyperboom looks to live up to its name with a commanding sound output sourced from precision woofers and a mighty bass.

Skeptics might think that this product’s raw output means that it has to sacrifice audio quality. Thankfully, those skeptics couldn’t be more wrong. Ultimate Ears gifted this speaker with a high-fidelity audio quality that can make you feel like you’re living in a music video.

Furthermore, this speaker has just as many brains as it does brawn. It uses adaptive EQ to adjust its sound to its environment. That means that it can rebalance its sound if you move the Ultimate Ears Hyperboom from your living room to the backyard,

The cherry on top is that it’s IPX4-star waterproof so it’s perfect for summertime pool parties. You can add it to your set-up for $450.

Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3

While the previous speaker in this Ultimate Ears review is a brick house of sound, the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 is as lithe as a ninja.

It’s much less expensive, comes in at only $100, and is available in a tight, portable package. That being said, it’s certainly no slouch in the audio department.

This speaker is perfect for people who are on the move because you can take its 360-degree sound with you wherever you go.

It also has a 14-hour battery life so you shouldn’t have to worry about spending time in complete silence. If it does happen to die then it should only take a hair over two hours to recharge.

Nature lovers and sustainability enthusiasts will likely also love the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 because it’s made with recycled plastics. The plastic in this speaker is made with 31% post-consumer recycled materials.

Ultimate Ears Megaboom 3

If you don’t want something as massive as the Ultimate Ears Hyperboom but a speaker with a bit more juice than the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 then look further than the Ultimate Ears Megaboom 3.

What distinguishes this speaker from the others in my Ultimate Ears review is its cylindrical shape. With this construction, the Ultimate Ears Megaboom 3 can project your music in every direction so that you shouldn’t have any pockets of missing sound.

Its shape and size further complement the depth of its output. This speaker is outfitted with a woofer that emits low bass tones with surprising might.

This comes without altering your music in any way, so it doesn’t have to overcompensate for its sound by distorting your tunes. All you should hear is your music in the way that the artists imagined you would.

While the Ultimate Ears Megaboom 3 can push your music to its limit, you can also push it to its limits. This speaker has passed over 25 durability tests.

You should be able to throw it, drop it, maybe even bury it alive, and expect it to work as well as it did the day you took it out of the box.

If all of that sounds up your alley then grab the Ultimate Ears Megaobom 3 for $200.

Ultimate Ears Boom 3

Consider the Ultimate Ears Boom 3 as the prototype of the Ultimate Ears MegaBoom 3.

That’s not to say there’s anything wrong with it, especially when you consider that it only costs $150. However, it seems like Ultimate Ears took what they developed with this item and improved nearly everything with its sequel.

That being said, you can still expect phenomenal audio quality and durability from the Ultimate Ears Boom 3. It has sublime audio balancing so that you can hear every nuance in your music at any volume. It also has a punchy bass that augments rather than penalizes its sound.

This product, much like its successor, has also passed every durability test Ultimate Ears put it through. So you shouldn’t have to worry about something happening to it and killing the vibe. Actually, with the Ultimate Ears Boom 3, you’ll be bringing the vibe with you.

Ultimate Ears UE Fits

What would this Ultimate Ears review be if I didn’t talk about their headphones? The Ultimate Ears UE Fits are audio marvels, and I’ll touch on that in a second, but I want to take a moment to talk about their best feature – their molding technology.

In just 60 seconds, these earbuds can conform to your unique ear canals. They should stay put after they mold so that the only time they exit your ears is when you take them out.

Soundwise, the Ultimate Ears UE Fits have single dynamic 10mm drivers for robust audio. They can output 110db at 500 Hz, which is a stat I’m sure the audiophiles reading this Ultimate Ears review will love.

Finally, these earbuds have a battery life of 8 hours and can last up to 20 hours if you have the charging case nearby. They can top up for a full hour’s worth of playtime in only 10 minutes.

Normally, the Ultimate Ears UE Fits cost $199, but it appears that you can grab them now for $159. That price discount applies to each of the available colors, which are as follows:

  1. Cloud grey
  2. Dawn lilac
  3. Eclipse midnight blue

Who Are Ultimate Ears For?

Ultimate Ears Review

Due to the dynamism of Ultimate Ears’ products, I believe they have a pretty wide consumer base.

Of course, the average person who want the best sound possible will enjoy them, but party hosts and outdoor enthusiasts can also get in on the fun because many of these speakers are portable.

Ultimate Ears Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Ultimate Ears Review

I looked around the internet to find out what people thought about this company and their products.

While it’s nice to know that they’re trusted by musicians, it’s important to understand if they transfer well from the stage to everyday life. As such, I’ve collected a few Ultimate Ears reviews and put them into lists.

The most general score I found was on Trust Pilot, where they held an average score of 3/5 stars based on more than 90 pieces of customer feedback.

I also collected scores from two of the most popular distributors of Ultimate Ears: Amazon and Best Buy. Here are the average scores from Amazon:

  • Ultimate Ears Hyperboom: 4.7/5 stars based on more than 2,000 ratings
  • Ultimate Ears Megaboom: 4.6/5 stars based on more than 1,000 ratings
  • Ultimate Ears Boom 3 4.6/5 stars based on more than 7,000 ratings

And these are the scores from Best Buy’s customers:

  • Ultimate Ears Hyperboom: 4.7/5 stars based on more than 900 ratings
  • Ultimate Ears Megaboom: 4.6/5 stars based on more than 2,900 ratings
  • Ultimate Ears Boom 3: 4.6/5 stars based on more than 2,000 ratings

I kid you not, the scores were that consistent across the two websites. That wasn’t the only consistency I noticed among Ultimate Ears reviews.

Customers frequently brought up the same points across different products and seeing as how most of those points were compliments, that’s a good sign.

The most oft-mentioned point of praise was the overall quality of the speakers. Nearly every buyer touched upon how good the sound was, with many reviews reading similar to this one,

The sound quality is super crisp and feels very 3 dimensional, the audio makes it sound like it is coming from multiple directions. Bass is good, highs are crisp and it is loud enough for a house a party.

Plenty of people favorably compared Ultimate Ears’ speakers to those from competitors like JBL, saying that the former’s options were both cheaper and better. Here’s a 5/5 stars review I found on Best Buy that explains that point:

Bass is great sound stage is spectacular definitely loud…I’m a person that loved JBL but this right here definitely kinda says buy me over boombox 2, especially because of the driver layout which equals better sound stage and on-par sound quality. Plus, it’s 100 dollars less.”

I also picked out this specific testimonial about the Ultimate Ears Hyperboom because it included plenty of morsels that are found in other Ultimate Ears product testimonials:

“This speaker packs thundering bass with no compromise on the rich sound It delivers. This is the first speaker I owned that 1. can virtually last forever because of its long lasting battery  2. I don’t have to keep it at full volume to enjoy the sound.”

Are Ultimate Ears Worth It?

Ultimate Ears Review

If you’re like me (i.e you cannot go two minutes without listening to music), then the items in this Ultimate Ears review are definitely worth it

They’re priced fairly when you consider that this market is typically filled with overpriced alternatives. That price doesn’t come at the cost of sound quality, as numerous customer reviews have pointed out.

Overall, I think that you should absolutely look into Ultimate Ears.

Ultimate Ears Promotions & Discounts

Ultimate Ears Review

Sadly, there weren’t any Ultimate Ears promotions or discounts that were active when I was conducting my research.

Where To Buy Ultimate Ears

Ultimate Ears Review

Something many people will appreciate about Ultimate Ears is that it’s not hard to get your hands on these products.

They’re available through the brand’s website, ultimateears.com, as well as the retailers I spoke about before like Amazon and Best Buy.
