About Vetements

Vetements Review

The streetwear scene is full of big-name brands like Stussy, Obey, and Supreme. But, the luxury fashion world is making its way into streetwear fashion, and Vetements is part of the wave. The luxury label is inspired by everyday people and maintains a renegade and contemporary style.

Despite its underground marketing, the label garners a whopping 4.6 million followers on Instagram. They’re also widely discussed in the fashion industry, with celebrities like Kanye West sporting the brand’s clothing.

Ye is on board, but are you? With this Vetements review, I might be able to help you out. Join me as I look at the label’s history, popular items, customer ratings, and more so you can decide if it’s worth the hype.

Overview of Vetements

Vetements Review

Vetement was founded in 2009 by Demna Gvasalia and his brother, Guram. After the Georgian (Soviet Union) fashion designer graduated from the Royal Academy of Arts in Belgium, he began working in fashion at Maison Martin Margiela in 2009. Then, he became a lead designer at Louis Vuitton in 2012.

Two years later, Gvasalia created Vetements, with the first collection launching in the fall. Four other designers joined the team with the idea to “create looks that weren’t presented in mainstream fashion media.” They were instead heavily influenced by the internet, streetwear, and good ol’ regular people.

The Swiss-based luxury label surprised many with their “normcore approach to high fashion. They’re known for casting models from Instagram to showcase their commitment to creating clothing for everyday people

This philosophy is even more evident when you realize that the label name translates to “clothing” in French. But, the brand is also known for an “anti-fashion” approach, too, with launches like the DHL-themed collection.

Vetements Review

Now that you know more about the label’s origins, this Vetements review will start with some highlights:

Highlights

  • The brand offers street-inspired unisex clothing, accessories, and jewelry
  • Worn by many celebrities and influential figures
  • Sold through designer retailers including SSENSE, Mytheresa, and Saks Fifth Avenue
  • Free shipping is available with an order minimum

There’s no shortage of edgy designs at Vetements. Its reputation for street-style aesthetics and fashion parodies manifests in bold graphic tees, hoodies, and hosiery. Keep reading this Vetements review if you want to learn more about their best-sellers.

Vetements Hoodie Review

The Vetements hoodies offer cozy and laid-back vibes while showcasing some rugged graphics. They’re definitely unique enough to get people talking.

Vetements Black ‘Vital Existence’ Hoodie Review

The Black ‘Vital Existence’ Hoodie is made from a cotton blend of French terry and, of course, features a roomy hood. The graphic is printed in orange and purple and reads, “Vetements represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams.” Is the font slightly haunting? Yes. But is it also extremely cool? Absolutely.

The graphic is also featured on the sleeves and back of the hoodie, showcasing the label’s streetwear influence. It also has a front pocket for all of your storage needs. I would style this with black pants or coordinate with the vivid colors for a unique and hip outfit.

The Black ‘Vital Existence’ Hoodie will run you $1300 but is now on sale for $865.

Vetements T shirt Review

Of course, I have to mention the Vetements t-shirts. These oversized graphic tees can be your next wardrobe staples.

Vetements Black Metal Patched Logo T-Shirt Review

The Black Metal Patched Logo T-Shirt adds to Vetements’ edgy aesthetic. The short-sleeve cotton jersey shirt features skulls and other horror-inspired fonts that keep the rebellious energy going. Vetements logos are also printed on the back of the tee and a white embroidered version on the cuff.

This is a unisex shirt, so anyone out there can rock this tee with no issue. The oversized design would look great paired with wide or straight-leg jeans.

It won’t be hard to match up some basics with this tee, no matter what you choose. You could even get in touch with an emo style you’ve never explored before.

The Black Metal Patched Logo T-Shirt usually costs $920 to add to your bag but is currently only $681

Vetements Socks Review

Last up in this Vetements review are the socks. More specifically, I’m looking at printed tights. This designer hosiery can be layered underneath skirts, dresses, and shorts for a cute and refined outfit.

Vetements Logo Monogram Tights Review

The Logo Monogram Tights have Vetements’s name all over them. Literally. The nylon blend is the label’s take on classic sheer tights and features a high-rise design for some coverage. Black tights are straightforward and a cinch to style.

You can wear any skirt or dress over these tights. You can pair a pleated skirt or one of the oversized tees with some chunky loafers if you want to ride Vetements’ edgy wave. There’s no doubt your next night out will draw some eyes.

You can get these Vetements socks for $170, down from the usual price of $255

Who Is Vetements For?

Vetements Review

Vetements luxury pieces are for adults looking to splurge on simple designer items, especially if you’re into streetwear culture. The designs are reminiscent of popular streetwear brands, which will appeal to younger Millennials and Gen-Zers.

That being said, it is a luxury label that comes with higher price tags. So, the brand might not be as accessible.

Vetements Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Vetements Review

This wouldn’t be a Vetements review if I didn’t look at some customer feedback. So, I searched the internet for ratings regarding the label’s products but came up short. I only found short testimonials on Facebook and Reddit.

The designer brand has 4.5/5 stars on Facebook based on 8 ratings. Unfortunately, the reviews are short and aren’t written in English. Still, the reception is mainly positive. One customer writes, “Vetements! Demna Gvasalia rules!”

Another customer says, “Loving the unique stuff Vetements has!” So, it’s evident that there are fans of the brand. But despite its popularity in the fashion world, there doesn’t seem to be much customer engagement online. Certain publications give nods to the label, though, noting their affinity for parody and “high-fashion normalcy.”

With that said, during this Vetements review I did come across some criticism for the same reasons. Reddit threads note the brand’s “over-hyped” designs even with the Kanye West seal of approval. In addition, users find the label’s offerings are overpriced considering the quality issues.

It’s also important to note that customers can’t buy directly from the Vetements clothing website – it links straight to retailers like SSENSE, so reviews regarding Vetements’ customer service reviews are challenging to find.

Is Vetements Legit?

Vetements Review

Because Vetements is an internationally known label, it seems pretty legit. There aren’t many things that pose red flags regarding shipping issues, but since customers don’t deal with the brand directly, that can be hard to gauge.

SSENSE does have a few dismal ratings, but overall, customers are satisfied with their purchases from the retail website.

Is Vetements Worth It?

Vetements Review

For years, luxury labels have come out with classy and elegant designs that older demographics gravitate towards. Vetements subverts this expectation by offering luxury items that are the total opposite of what anyone would expect from designer collectives.

Is the label worthwhile? Based on this Vetements review, I think shopping with the brand will be a worthwhile experience.

Vetements Promotions & Discounts

Vetements Review

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any Vetements promotions or discounts at this time. I’d suggest following their social media pages to see if any retailers are offering exclusive deals.

FAQ

Vetements Review

Who owns Vetements?

Demna Gvasalia left Vetements to join Balenciaga, leaving his brother and co-founder, Guram Gvasalia, at the helm of the streetwear brand.

Does Vetements ship internationally?

Vetement’s website links directly to SSense, and the retailer does offer international shipping. I’ll get into more detail in the following section.

What is Vetements’ Shipping Policy?

As I mentioned, Vetements does not ship directly from its website. SSENSE is an authorized retailer and offers free US shipping for orders over $300. US and International customers are subject to duties and taxes as the retailer is based in Canada. But these fees are included in the final price at checkout.

What is Vetements’ Return Policy?

Customers can return Vetements items through SSENSE within 30 days of delivery. Items must be in their original condition with original tags attached. In addition, free return shipping is available for customers in Canada, the US, and Japan.

International customers will have to acquire a return authorization from the retailer’s website. Once that’s done, they can follow the instructions to complete the return. Note that it can take up to five business days for returns to process through SSENSE.
