Overview of Waldo Contacts

Waldo Contacts Review

When Waldo founder Ashleigh Hinde moved from South Africa to Europe, she didn’t want to deal with the complicated and costly process of getting her contact lenses from a new optician

Finding the vision care industry difficult to navigate and big-name companies falling short on customer experience, Hinde relied on having her contacts shipped from her old home, incurring the hassle and high prices of buying and shipping a stockpile of lenses.

Eventually, Hinde moved to the US to study at Harvard and found herself down to her last pair of contacts with no easy way to get a new pair quickly. While trying to find some interim lenses, Hinde realized she had a choice to make – start her vision care process from scratch or find a more creative solution.

Hinde decided to turn the optical industry on its head, by developing a brand that would deliver high-quality, affordable daily lenses to customers directly from the manufacturer, cutting out all of the costly, time-consuming processes in between.

After partnering with a Taiwan-based manufacturer, Hinde introduced Waldo contacts to the UK from her headquarters in London in 2017.

The brand’s DTC business model kept their product affordable and accessible to customers, and the board-approved in-house optician and responsive customer service team helped fill in any blanks in communication.

Soon after launching in the UK, Waldo expanded into the US. Hinde hopes that, eventually, her brand will be able to reach people globally and turn a once-tedious purchase into something personalized and fun.

Waldo Contacts Review

As receptors for one of the more essential senses, taking care of your eyes and giving them everything they need to deliver the best vision possible is important.

In this Waldo contacts review, I’ll be looking at some best-selling products like the Hydra Boost Daily Lenses, Hydration Drops, Eyecare Starter Kit, and Blue Light Glasses Knox, all designed to help you achieve clear vision and protect your peepers.

Waldo Contacts Hydra Boost Daily Lenses Review

If you’re looking for an affordable way to accommodate a basic contact prescription, the FDA-approved Hydra Boost Daily Lenses are a great option.

The lenses are constructed from a combination of 48% Etafilcon A and 58% water, with hyaluronic moisturizing agents. Not only do they keep your eyes from drying out, but they allow for oxygen permeability of 25 x 10 Dk/t.

You’ll barely even notice the lenses are there, thanks to the tapered, smooth edge minimizing the sensation of the lens on your eye when you blink.

The Hydra Boost Daily Lenses offer Class 2 UV protection, blocking 83% and 97% of the UV-A and UV-B spectrums, respectively.

As for the vision specifications, the lenses have a base curve of 8.5 mm and a diameter of 14.2 mm, giving them a power range of +4.00D to -12.00D. When you place your order, Waldo contacts will ask you to provide your number for each eye, as well as your eye doctor’s information.

Hydra Boost Daily Lenses are available as a subscription of 30 lenses per eye (2 boxes/month, 60 lenses in total) for $20 per box, delivered on a monthly, quarterly, or bi-annual basis.

Your Waldo subscription can also be adjusted if you only need lenses for one eye – in this case, you can opt to receive 30 lenses (1 box/month, $20/box) at a time, on the same monthly, quarterly, or bi-annual schedule. Shipping for both options is free.

To get started, you can get a free trial of 10 lenses for 10 days, for a one-time shipping fee of $3. If you find you like the service, just modify your subscription to suit your delivery schedule, or cancel to stop receiving lenses. This free trial converts to a quarterly subscription if you don’t cancel within the 10 days.

Waldo Contacts Hydration Drops Review

Are your eyes looking irritated or feeling sore? Want some relief that doesn’t involve harmful redness-reliever chemicals? Then you might want to consider giving Waldo’s Hydration Drops a try.

This handy solution is made with natural ingredients intended to be effective and gentle on your eyes.

Hydration Drops’ active ingredients include:

  • Conium maculatum
  • Natrum muriaticum
  • Ruta graveolens
  • Senega officinalis

Their inactive ingredients include:

  • Borate butter
  • Purified water
  • Sodium nitrate
  • and silver sulfate as a preservative

Waldo says these drops are safe for daily use and can be used while you wear your Waldo’s contact lenses – though they advise that if your symptoms aren’t better after a week, get your eyes checked out by a professional.

A 10 ml bottle of Hydration Drops will cost you just $13.

Waldo Contacts Eyecare Starter Kit Review

If you want to get the most out of your 10-day trial with Waldo’s Hydra Boost Daily Lenses, consider upgrading it to the Eyecare Starter Kit trial.

This kit contains double the number of contact lenses as the initial free trial and includes a bottle of Hydration Drops, all zipped up in a handy Waldo Premium Toiletry Bag for easy storage and transport.

You can get these products–typically a $50 value–for $7 plus the $3 trial period shipping fee. This trial converts to a quarterly subscription after 10 days unless you cancel.

Waldo Contacts Blue Light Glasses Knox Review

While it might be great for grabbing and maintaining your attention, too much blue light can become a detriment to your eye health.

If you find yourself unable to reduce your screen time and don’t want the hassle of readjusting your screen’s light settings on a regular basis – or just find screens tough on your eyes – Waldo’s Blue Light Glasses might make for a good solution.

Constructed from acetate made of renewable and biodegradable materials, these frames can be easily adjusted for comfort, and have a gently curved nose bridge to allow them to sit properly.

These lenses block blue, UV-A, and UV-B light, reduce glare and reflections, and are scratch-resistant.

. The frames come in four styles, such as:

  • Knox – round frames
  • Murphy – classic wayfarers
  • Nikka – rectangular frames
  • Stacia – thick, cat-eye frames

They also have four color options, including

  • Crystal
  • Tortoiseshell
  • Crystal tortoiseshell
  • Blue tortoiseshell

These glasses are not prescription and can be worn with your Waldo contacts.

Each pair of glasses comes with its own case and cleaning cloth, for  $75.

Who Is Waldo Contacts For?

Waldo Contacts Review

Waldo contacts are for customers who want a simple, cost-effective way to receive daily contact lenses on a recurring schedule. These lenses are for customers with relatively straightforward vision needs, who already know their prescription, and have an idea of what kind of contacts they like in terms of water content and shape.

That said, their low-cost trials are a great way for someone still trying to figure out what kind of lens works for their eye – with 10 to 20 days with no mandatory commitment, the Waldo contacts trial is long enough to give you a good sense of whether their product works for you.

While the brand has plans to expand into contacts that accommodate the needs of those who require corrections for astigmatism or bifocals, they do not carry any such products at the time of this Waldo contacts review. So, I would currently recommend this brand to those with less specific prescription needs.

Aside from those who need daily contacts, people whose work or hobbies put them in front of a screen for hours will also find Waldo beneficial to their eye health. Their natural eye drops and blue light glasses can be used by anyone, even if you don’t need or wear contacts.

Waldo Contacts Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Waldo Contacts Review

To round out this Waldo contacts review, I found a considerable amount of feedback online for this service, with thousands of customers sharing their impressions of the brand and their product.

Most of the customer feedback I found was generally very positive, with the lenses themselves receiving high praise from subscribers. Many customers mention how comfortable their Hydra Boost Daily Contacts are, and how having fresh, easy-to-insert lenses has been a big help.

On TrustPilot, the brand has a 4.5/5 star rating based on over 14,000 customer responses, with one Waldo contacts review saying, “This product is quality, my eyes are never in discomfort or tired. A fresh set of contacts every day does make a huge difference. I highly recommend this product.

The convenience and flexibility of Waldo’s subscription service has also been a plus for many buyers.

One of the 445 Google reviewers – who gave Waldo a  collective 4.5/5 stars – says, “Great contacts. Easy to wear and fast delivery. I’ve been using Waldo for a few years now and never had a problem. Their flexible delivery makes it easy for some like me, who only wears contacts occasionally.

During this Waldo contacts review I also noticed that the 10-day trial period was a major help for those who were initially uncertain about buying their contacts online

A Waldo contacts review on finvsfin.com says, “When I reviewed their product, they worked well for me, and the 10-day trial is a great way to find out if you’ll find them comfortable for just $2.95.

Is Waldo Contacts Legit?

Waldo Contacts Review

To start wrappping up this Waldo Contacts review, I can confidently state that this brand does not raise any major red flags. Aside from the plethora of positive reviews, the brand has been FDA-approved, received an ISO Manufacturing Quality Standards Certification, and has been featured in several major news outlets.

While I did find several complaints regarding shipping and order cancelation issues, most of these are recent, and – according to the brand’s very responsive customer service team – appear to be the result of bugs that arose after a system update the support team is working to resolve at the time of writing this Waldo contacts review.

Is Waldo Contacts Worth It?

Waldo Contacts Review

While their lenses may not be suited to all vision correction needs yet, Waldo provides high-quality products to provide better sight and eye health at affordable prices and on flexible delivery schedules.

Customers seem overwhelmingly pleased by the brand’s service. The brand’s low-cost subscription seems to be making basic eye care affordable and accessible without sacrificing quality.

Their subscription plans are flexible and adaptable to your needs, and you can even try out the lenses for just $3, so you don’t have to take a major financial risk to give this brand a shot.
