About xTool

xTool Review

Whatever your creation dreams are for vinyl, metal, or wood, xTool has the tool for the task. The company celebrates innovations and promotes creativity through its easy-to-use and readily accessible laser cutters.

Fans are receptive to them too, evidenced by their 19.5k Instagram followers. The interest in the brand has also got them media attention, with features in Forbes, Fast Company, and Make. That’s a lot of progress in a short amount of time for this new company.

In my xTool review, I will look at some of the company’s products, prices, customer reception, and more to give you an idea about whether they’re right for you.

Overview of xTool

xTool Review

The xTool line has only been around since 2021, but the company behind them began a decade earlier. They were created under Makeblock, a company Jasen Wang founded to empower STEM students’ artistry. They only stayed in that market until 2020 when they shifted towards more tactile tools.

Thus, they shifted towards laser engravers to allow people to add a touch of humanity to otherwise cold, hard surfaces. Their pivot paid off as they’re now one of the most recognized brands in the industry.

The next section of my xTool review will cover some of the brand’s highlights before I go deeper into some of its products.

xTool D1 Review

The items in this section of my xTool review are members of the D1 product line, which is arguably the most popular in xTool’s library.

xTool D1 10W + RA2 Pro: Higher Accuracy Diode DIY Laser Engraving & Cutting Machine Review

xTool D1 10W + RA2 Pro: Higher Accuracy Diode DIY Laser Engraving & Cutting Machine

With its propensity for better aim, an easy focus feature, a 17” x 16” engraving area, and a multitude of ways to share files, the xTool D1 10W + RA2 Pro: Higher Accuracy Diode DIY Laser Engraving & Cutting Machine is a great first purchase for people who don’t have much experience with engraving.

As one customer wrote: “The D1 model works well for a first-time user. I have friends who have lasers and Marvel at the quality of mine.”

This machine is optimized for human creativity rather than robotic input and output. You can grab it for $921 since it’s currently on sale (the regular price is $1,116).

The next entry in the xTool D1 line is accurate up to 0.01m (i.e. extremely accurate). The xTool D1 Pro 20W: Higher Accuracy Diode DIY Laser Engraving & Cutting Machine is also a quick worker as it can reach speeds of up to 400mm/s (i.e. extremely fast).

Much like the last tool, this machine is accessible even for newcomers, which is probably why this teacher wrote such a stellar review:

“This machine is the next thing to sliced bread. I just love it. It is easy to use, doesn’t take up much space and I love the fact that each week the company puts out YouTube videos highlighting projects you can make with the machine.”

This item is available for $1,200 right now. Typically, it costs $1,400, but it’s on sale at the moment.

xTool D1 Pro 10W: Higher Accuracy Diode DIY Laser Engraving & Cutting Machine

The final D1 instrument I’m going to cover is the cheapest option so far, so if you want to save some money, then look into the xTool D1 Pro 10W: Higher Accuracy Diode DIY Laser Engraving & Cutting Machine.

That being said, spec-wise, this machine still has some kick. It has a 10,000mm/min movement speed, 0.01mm movement accuracy, and 10w power output. As one customer wrote: “I have been using my D1 for about one month and so far it does everything I have asked of it.”

The xTool D1 Pro 10W: Higher Accuracy Diode DIY Laser Engraving & Cutting Machine is currently available for $700. Normally, it costs $850.

xTool M1 Review

xTool M1

The final machine I’m going to write about is the xTool M1, which earns a spot for its status as the 2022 Red Ribbon Award winner. It’s a dual-function laser and blade cutting machine, opening up the materials that you can run through it.

Here’s what one buyer said on xTool’s website: “I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quality laser. It has the ability to cut and engrave so many materials with great precision and consistency making my products the quality I want them to be.”

As with the other items in this xTool review, this one is on sale right now, meaning you can get it for $899 instead of $1,299.

xTool F1 Review

The xTool F1 combines a 2W infrared laser with a powerful 10W diode laser, ensuring optimal results with its TURE Industrial-grade galvanometer system. Portable and over 10 times faster than traditional engravers, it effortlessly crafts detailed, personalized items on various materials. Elevate your creativity with this innovative, efficient tool.

We found a publication called CNC Source praising it as: “The xTool F1 is the best portable laser engraver right now, perfect for trade shows“. Also, a YouTuber named EBPMAN Tech Reviews commented: “That was easy! If you could do PowerPoint, you could do laser engraving with xTool F1!

Like the other products featured in this xTool review, the xTool F1 is currently discounted, available at $1599 instead of its regular price of $1,999.

Who Is xTool For?

xTool Review

The xTool lasers I’ve written about here are best for people who aren’t super well-versed in laser engraving. The brand’s machines are beginner-friendly, which is great because the art of engraving can often feel tough and unwelcoming. xTool’s products help to break down those barriers and make it a fun, accessible activity for all.

xTool Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

xTool Review

My xTool review wouldn’t be worth much if I didn’t present you with what customers think of the products, which is why I’ve included some scores from the customer reviews on the brand’s website:

  • xTool D1 Pro 10W: 4.9/5 stars after 552 reviews
  • xTool D1 Pro 20W: 4.9/5 stars from 508 reviews
  • xTool D1 10W + RA2 Pro: 4.9/5 stars from 38 reviews
  • xTool M1: 4.9/5 stars after 49 reviews

For a more balanced opinion, I looked at some overall scores on other websites:

  • Judge.me: 4.9/5 stars after 6.4k reviews
  • Knoji: 4/5 stars after 55 reviews
  • Review Meta: 3.3/5 stars from 999 reviews

Some mixed reviews said that the brand’s customer service wasn’t always the best and that the instruction manuals weren’t as clear as they should be. That being said, those complaints were outnumbered by the sheer amount of positive xTool reviews like this one:

“This was the first laser I’ve owned and I couldn’t be happier with the purchase! I ordered the 10WPro with RA1 rotary and air assist. The laser was delivered within days of ordering and was packaged extremely well.”

From what I could find, t was beginners who praised xTool the most. They enjoyed learning a new craft and how the machines made it simple for them to get started. Here are two more xTool reviews from happy customers:

“I have never used or seen a laser in operation before, but I thought it would help my woodworking business, and the videos online were super cool. I have been blown away by this thing. It is the coolest tool in my shop.”

“Love being able to use this tool. Still learning, but have gotten the hang of some of the features.”

Overall, xTool is a good brand with a solid reputation. Despite being around for such little time, they have built up a loyal customer base that appreciates them for their easy-to-use products.

Is xTool Legit?

xTool Review

Besides the complaints about the brand’s customer service line, there wasn’t enough information for me to tell you to stay away from the brand.

Is xTool Worth It?

xTool Review

While I can’t speak for the more experienced laser tool engravers, the number of xTool reviews that came from newbies who said that the tools were a great way for them to begin leads me to this conclusion: xTool’s items are worth it for people who want to start engraving.

xTool Promotions & Discounts

xTool Review

The reason why all of the items in my xTool review are available for less is that the company is in the middle of its fall festive sale. There are other products on their website that are currently seeing price cuts too, alongside their weekly deals on materials and their discounts for bulk materials.

Where to Buy xTool
