Overview Of YMC

YMC Review

YMC was founded in 1995 by Fraser Moss and Jimmy Collins. Its name was inspired by industrial designer Raymond Loewy, who said, “You must create your own design style.” This became the brand’s primary influence and remained one of the main inspirations behind its designs.

Both Moss and Collins have a past with clothing and retail. Moss spent the mid-’80s working with Vivienne Westwood for five years and then decided to start his label, Professor Head. Simultaneously, Collins worked for and managed a brand called Komodo, and the two met through their agent

Moss and Collins acknowledged that trendy streetwear labels influenced early ‘90s fashion, and both wanted to subvert the modern norms. So, they launched You Must Create, a “utilitarian clothing label that referenced workwear and military clothing.” The label also combined the ruggedness of British youth culture into its designs.

When it comes to fashion, the London-based brand subverts expectations. Their collection is influenced by Moss’s lasting post-punk, DIY mentality and his enthusiasm for music, literature, and the arts. The brand aims to continue with the same philosophy while depicting the current cultural climate

Now that you know more about the brand, let’s kick this YMC review off with some highlights:

YMC Women’s Review

YMC Review

The label’s women’s collection ranges from girly silhouettes to standard-fitting items for a laidback look. And you’ll be looking cool and stylish in any of these pieces.

YMC Olympus Patchwork Suede Jacket Brown Review

Patchwork designs have origins in the ‘60s, but they’re definitely ‘sewing’ their way back into mainstream fashion. The Olympus Patchwork Sueded Jacket in Brown features a standard fit for layering and, of course, some neutral-colored patchwork. So, on those cold autumn days, you’ll look absolutely stylish.

This jacket is 100% lambskin suede and is designed with two front pockets with flaps. The front features multiple color patches and is complimented with a monochrome colorway on the reverse side. This YMC review thinks you can easily pair it with similarly colored pants or the available matching skirt

The Olympus Patchwork Sueded Jacket Brown will cost you about $908

YMC Market Cotton Twill Trousers Olive Review

I love skinny jeans as much as the next person, but sometimes, you want to free your legs from any restrictions. The Market Cotton Twill Trousers are a beautiful deviation from the tight-fitting trend, with their high-waisted design and relaxed, tailored fit.

As the name suggests, the bottoms are made from Italian cotton twill, making them durable and soft. They also feature single pleats for a touch of sophistication, along with a cropped hem to show off your favorite socks or chunky boots.

With two side pockets and a gorgeous olive colorway, the Market Cotton Twill Trousers can become your new go-to’s for $196

YMC Men’s Review

YMC Review

In this YMC review I also have to mention the label’s men’s collection. These items have a cozy and rebellious edge to them. You might not think they go together, but it’ll make sense soon.

YMC Badlands Lamb Leather Jacket Brown Review

The Badlands Lamb Leather Jacket in Brown is 100% lamb leather and features a classic 1940s workwear silhouette. It’s boxy and perfect for layering. It also has a tartan cotton lining for additional warmth and style.

It has double pleated front panels, a patch pocket, and some waist adjusters to get the perfect fit. The metal button closure also features YMC branding to let people know who you’re repping. You can add this jacket to your everyday fall wardrobe and wear some of your favorite relaxed denim pants to complete the outfit.

The Badlands Lamb Leather Jacket Brown will cost $1242 to add to your shopping bag.

YMC Utah Polyester Fleece Waistcoat Green Review

The last item in this YMC review is the Utah Polyester Fleece Waistcoat in Green. The cozy fleece underlayer is a new addition to the label’s collection and, like the previous pieces, is excellent for layering.

Waistcoats traditionally add more sophistication and depth to an outfit. This soft fleece will do the trick with the forest green colorway and contrasting details, including the mesh lining. In addition, you can style it with colors like beige, brown, or white to really showcase the color of the waistcoat.

The Utah Polyester Fleece Waistcoat in Green will cost you $202

Who Is YMC For?

YMC Review

YMC’s demographic is mainly young adults and Millennials when looking at the brand’s Instagram feed. The workwear-inspired pieces are popular among this age group. Still, they’re also simple enough to appeal to older groups, too.

That being said, since it’s an independent label, it’s on the expensive side and might not be as accessible for people on a budget.

YMC Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

YMC Review

This wouldn’t be a YMC review if I didn’t look at customer feedback. So, I searched the internet for testimonials and customer service experiences to help you make an informed shopping decision. But, unfortunately, there isn’t much feedback online regarding the small label.

I did find ratings on the company’s Facebook page, where they have a 4.4/5 stars rating based on 42 reviews, and on Nicelocal, where they’ve been rated 4/5 stars based on 13 reviews. The comments on Facebook are slim, but most raters recommended the brand

The one written review on Facebook reads, “Helpful staff, great service. Killer clobber.” So, the brand must be doing something right. The rest of the posts give their stamp of approval without saying too much.

Nicelocal publishes some written reviews regarding customer experiences at the label’s physical locations, but they’re also pretty short. For example, one customer wrote, “Needed a query sorted so popped in and got help super fast. Very friendly and efficient.”

Another reviewer wrote, “Really cool boutique from London-based designers. The price point is quite reasonable.”

Other than that, to summarize this YMC review I couldn’t find any other significant ratings. There are two critical reviews on each site describing bad customer service experiences during in-store shopping. It’s safe to assume that there aren’t many gripes with the brand’s online service.

Is YMC Legit?

YMC Review

YMC seems pretty legit. It offers high-quality items made with premium materials, and there aren’t any significant comments that would raise any red flags. So despite not having many testimonials detailing the online experience, I think it’d be fair to say that YMC is getting the job done.

Is YMC Worth It?

YMC Review

Based on this YMC review, I think the brand is worth checking out if you have the means. Like many other independent labels, YMC has a higher price tag, but it’s evident that you’re receiving well-made and thoughtfully designed items.

Additionally, purchasing from smaller brands can be a hit-or-miss situation, but I think you’ll be safe shopping for this company’s items because of its long-standing history and dedicated designers.

YMC Promotions & Discounts
