About ZenWTR

ZenWTR Review

Who thought buying plastic water bottles could save the world? ZenWTR Alkaline Water is working to break new ground in sustainability by taking one of the earth’s major, long-lasting polluters and turning it into a resource for good.

ZenWTR is making use of discarded, ocean-bound plastic[1] (plastic rescued from at-risk coastal environments in countries that don’t have formal recycling systems) and recycling it to make their bottles before filling them with their ionized alkaline water that offers a pH of 9.5 and a refreshingly crisp taste.

ZenWTR is the first and only beverage in the world in a bottle made from 100% recycled, certified ocean-bound plastic. In fact, every ZenWTR bottle is made from up to five recycled ocean-bound plastic bottles, preventing them from reaching and polluting the ocean, and people are getting behind the cause.

Even though this brand is relatively new, it already boasts a social community of 225k followers and features in Forbes and Fortune magazine, alongside a healthy backing of celebrity investors like Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Zoe Saldana and Khloé Kardashian.

Ahead, you’ll find information on the company’s background, its water, and of course, customer feedback. We’ve also included helpful droplets like promotions and FAQs to quench your thirst for every last detail about this smart, sustainable brand. Let’s dive in.

Overview of ZenWTR

ZenWTR Review

Lance Collins launched this revolutionary brand in early 2020 in Southern California, but his history with innovative beverages didn’t start there. Does anyone remember Fuze? How about CORE Hydration, NOS energy drinks, or BodyArmor?

Collins is the face behind them all—and that means he’s been highly tuned into the highs, the lows and the trends in the beverage industry over the last 20 years.

One of the biggest trends? Sustainability. And the question he set out to answer was how do we keep convenience while not causing harm to the planet?

Collins sought to answer that with his creation of ZenWTR. Delivering a feel-good product that helps contribute a solution to the issue of plastic pollution, especially in our oceans. He spent almost 3 years creating the supply chain that allowed ZenWTR to be the first in the beverage business to use recycled ocean-bound plastic to make their bottles, and he didn’t stop there.

ZenWTR is also the world’s first beverage brand to be certified plastic negative, meaning they support programs that recover and recycle 200% of their annual plastic footprint.

Preventing this plastic from ever getting into our oceans, ZenWTR puts it to use, turning it into a new 100% recyclable vessel. Also, by using recycled plastic to make their bottles, they cut energy use by 84% and produce 71% fewer greenhouse gasses that normally result from creating plastic bottles from new plastic.

So what’s the water actually like? That’s coming up next in this ZenWTR review. To give you an idea of what’s to come, we’ll take you through the brand’s highlights first.

ZenWTR Review

Our featured brand offers just one product, alkaline water. But with the size of the positive impact it makes, one is all it needs.

In the sections to come in this ZenWTR review, we’ll take a close look at what’s inside the brand’s game-changing bottled water and what makes it unique. It’s time to unscrew the cap and take a swig.

ZenWTR Bottle Review

As the brand’s only product, there’s a lot of pressure on the ZenWTR Bottle. We’re not just talking about the brand’s innovative process that turns five ocean-bound plastic bottles into one 100% recyclable bottle, but the actual water itself. After all, what’s better than a product that supports a good cause and is enjoyable to drink?

The ZenWTR Bottle comes in 1.5 liter, 1 liter, 23.7 oz, and 16.9 oz bottles and holds the brand’s crisp and refreshing, vapor-distilled alkaline water with a pH of 9.5. With a wide-mouth opening, it’s easy to drink from and helps get you hydrated fast.

As for what the bottle is made from, ZenWTR tells us that it’s the “first and only” drink in the world that comes in a 100% recycled, certified ocean-bound plastic bottle. Pretty cool.

When you buy ZenWTR 1% of each sale is donated to help organizations committed to ocean conservation and recycling programs. Get a 12-pack of 1-liter bottles on for $36. Available as part of a 15, 30, or 60-day auto-ship plan, you can subscribe to save 15%.

ZenWTR: Alkaline vs Distilled Water

ZenWTR Review

Why have just one or the other? Your water can be both alkaline and vapor distilled. The two are completely different things, but here, we’ll tell you why they’re both important.

To create the final product, ZenWTR goes through an 8-step process. From filtering to UV treatments to vapor distillation (the gold standard in water purification) the water you taste will be crisp, refreshing and incredibly pure. Vapor Distillation is the process of high-heat water treatment that removes toxic metals, minerals, and contaminants and it has nothing to do with alkalinity.

Technically, ZenWTR could have just stopped there, but after the vapor distillation process, they ionize the water by way of electrolysis which helps the water reach its pH of 9.5. Finally, minerals and electrolytes are added for taste.

Whereas some brands just offer one or the other, ZenWTR combines the two for a clean, pure, and delicious tasting water with heart.

How Different is ZenWTR’s Bottle From Other Plastic Bottles?

ZenWTR Review

Plastic is part of the problem, isn’t it? You’d think that designing another plastic water bottle wouldn’t be doing the world any favors, but that’s so not the case for ZenWTR.

ZenWTR is the first and only water in the world that’s in a bottle made from 100% recycled, certified ocean-bound plastic. Other brands may be starting to integrate recycled plastic into their existing plastic water bottles, and while that’s a start, it’s not a big enough gesture.

If we’re going to use plastic, it needs to be completely recycled and recyclable, helping to close the loop and prevent further plastic from being made. Doesn’t that make more sense than continuously making plastic when we have so much of it on this earth already?

Using ocean-bound plastic only, ZenWTR stops bottles from ever entering the sea while helping to grow global recycling rates, clean at-risk coastal environments and provide economic opportunity for their recycling communities. Each one of its liter bottles prevents five plastic bottles from entering the ocean. No other brand is doing that, and that’s what makes our featured one so special.

Is ZenWTR’s Source of Recycled Plastic Certified?

ZenWTR Review

It certainly is. ZenWTR uses 100% recycled certified ocean-bound plastic. That means it’s assessed by an independent third party and guaranteed to be from a source where, had it not been rescued, it would have ended up in ocean. Ocean-bound plastic isn’t plastic that’s already in the ocean, but plastic that’s found on the coastlines around the ocean.

Because of the salt and sun that ocean plastic is exposed to, ZenWTR isn’t able to use it. Instead, it recycles rescued plastic that cleans up at-risk coastal environments and assures that the workers collecting that plastic are treated and paid fairly for their labor. It’s an all-around clean brand.

Who Is ZenWTR For?

ZenWTR Review

ZenWTR is designed for people who love bottled water and are looking for a more sustainable solution for their preferred packaging. One that allows them to enjoy a refreshing water on-the-go, while also helping the earth. If you already buy bottled water, it’s an easy swap that means you can also help prevent ocean pollution. With an alkaline pH of 9.5, it’s a great pick for those who are looking for a better water choice for themselves, and our planet.

ZenWTR Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

ZenWTR Review

Water is water, right? Not exactly. There’s a good chance you’ve noticed the difference between Evian and Nestle water, or perhaps there’s a reason you drink Fiji only.

Feedback is a critical part of this ZenWTR review and in this section, you’ll hear from those who have tried what this brand offers up. Our first stop for feedback was its website, and overall, 35 customers awarded the brand’s alkaline water 4.9/5 stars.

What do they love so much about it? It’s a mix between an amazing taste and the cause behind it. Here’s what one customer wrote in a ZenWTR review:

Have you heard ‘It’s just water, it all tastes the same”? I can’t agree after trying ZenWTR!!! I feel so refreshed and balanced when drinking it and my favorite part is the work they are doing to help our oceans. Love the product!

This guy gets it. But so do the majority of other customers who love it for similar reasons. ZenWTR isn’t a complicated product—at the end of the day, it’s bottled water.

What makes it special is what it’s bottled in and its purity. The taste is a bonus and something that makes customers want to buy it again and again.

Is this kind of feedback typical? We headed outside of the brand’s website to find out. The company earned 4.7/5 stars from 41 shoppers at Target. Here’s how that score breaks down:

  • 5 stars: 85%
  • 4 stars: 5%
  • 3 stars: 5%
  • 2 stars: 0%
  • 1 star: 5%

It turns out that the high level of feedback is found elsewhere, considering that customers wrote similar sentiments on the water’s purchase page at Target. One ZenWTR review read:

Delicious, clean, Fresh. And environmental recycled bottle friendly! Wonderful! Thank you!” Another shopper wrote, “I’ve been part of the Alkaline water craze over the past few years and swear by it. This water by far has the best taste and it’s great for the environment!

All in all, people seem truly thrilled about ZenWTR. Not just for the cause behind it, but because of how the water tastes. Many say that it’s the best water they’ve ever had, and that may be because of its alkalinity and vapor-distilled nature.

So now, even though we have a good idea of why people like ZenWTR, for good measure, we checked out Amazon. The water has 4.6/5 stars from 203 buyers there. That score breaks down like this:

  • 5 stars: 80%
  • 4 stars: 11%
  • 3 stars: 4%
  • 2 stars: 4%
  • 1 star: 2%

From the rating snapshot above, it’s not hard to tell that Amazon shoppers agree with the rest of the world. Here’s one ZenWTR review that sums up what’s expressed in the comments pretty well:

This water is the best tasting water that comes in a bottle. I was recently diagnosed with something that makes me drink just bottled water and I’ve been through a lot of the brands. The flavor of this one is the absolute best and worth the money. I feel better about using this product because the water comes in recycled materials.”

Not all water is made the same. Some of our go-to’s (Dasani, Deer Park, etc.) are acidic, and depending on your health preferences and needs, you may want to avoid them. ZenWTR has a pH of 9.5, meaning it’s alkaline. So not only can this water make you feel good mentally by saving the earth from plastic pollution, but physically as well.

In the end, the feedback for ZenWTR is incredibly positive. As a simple product with a big heart, people feel good about buying and drinking it. In terms of bottled water, that’s all you can ask for really.

Is ZenWTR Legit?

ZenWTR Review

It’s just as much part of the job description for this ZenWTR review to look for red flags as it is green lights. While we searched for feedback, we didn’t come across much that was negative. The scores for this brand are consistently high no matter where we looked.

From what we can see in ZenWTR reviews, the brand is legit—so much so that celebrities all want to get a piece of it. Customers love the taste, the cause, and the convenience. It’s all green lights ahead for this revolutionary company.

Is ZenWTR Worth It?

ZenWTR Review

Bottled water is the number one packaged beverage category in the U.S. and is on track to continue growing over the next few years. As long as consumers are buying water in plastic bottles, ZenWTR will be there with a more sustainable option that actually has a positive impact on the planet. There’s plenty of plastic available for recycling and by now, you know that for each water bottle you buy from this brand, five are saved from the entering the ocean.

ZenWTR may not be the end-all to plastic consumption—but it does find a place for a lot of the trash that already exists. Until clean, accessible, and healthy water is available around the world through refillable stations, water bottles will be needed. If you’re going to reach for a plastic bottle, you may as well make it one that helps the earth.
