10 Best Furniture Brands

Searching For The Best Furniture Brands

I’ve reviewed my fair share of home goods companies, and while they all have their merits, there are a few that stand out from the pack. You’ll meet them here in my list of best furniture brands.

Considering that your home is a personal place, the best of the best need to have a fantastic variety to fit your space. Of course, your budget will always come into play, and these shops should have affordable options too.

From what I’ve learned, the service of the company you buy from is equally as important as the products themselves, so I made sure to select brands with great reputations. Let’s get started.

5 Best Furniture Brands

1. Wayfair

Best Furniture Brands
Wayfair

Hop onto Wayfair’s website and (if you’re over 30) you’ll feel like a kid in a candy store. With so many options, styles, and colors, this brand makes furniture shopping feel fun. Browse through 14 million products for home and outdoor, including rugs, decor, and furniture for every room.

There are 50k couches alone on Wayfair, and according to its founders, Nyrah Shah and Steve Conine, the brand was built on the promise of accessibility. That means affordable prices too. Now a 20-year-old company, Wayfair has added 11k suppliers to its roster, giving you incredible variety when it comes to design.

Our favorite part? That despite its grand inventory, Wayfair makes it easy to shop, categorizing its products so you can click through to the exact item you need. Entertainment stands and centers range from $31-$50,000, while coffee tables start at $50 and go up to $31,000

Don’t worry, the majority of prices are quite low, but Wayfair makes sure to stock pieces for every type of customer and budget.

Highlights

  • 14 million products
  • Tons of variety in style, color, and size
  • Carries designer options
  • Products for every price point
  • Tons of deals & discounts

2. Burrow

Best Furniture Brands
Burrow

Burrow offers a super-homey selection of modular furniture. With sofas, shelving, and coffee tables, the brand’s collection is compact, but I’m in love with its smart approach and totally lounge-worthy look.

The brand, founded in 2018 by Kuhl and Kabeer Chopra, is best known for its sofas which are customizable to your home. Including three core styles with dreamy fabrics like green velvet, the line is certainly contemporary, but it draws inspiration from Scandinavian design and doesn’t skimp on mid-century modern touches, either.

You can get a 3 or 4-seater couch for $1,500$4,500 depending on the design you choose. The cost naturally increases as you add more sections. Add on a rustic bar cart for $349 or a walnut storage bench for $695.

Highlights

  • Three core sofa styles + shelving units & tables
  • Easy to rearrange, assemble, and move
  • Contemporary style
  • Premium, durable materials
  • Many fabric options

3. West Elm

Best Furniture Brands
West Elm

Fan of the eco-friendly? West Elm is praised for its wide selection of earth-friendly furniture, although it offers many traditional options as well. Founded in 2002, the brand is owned by Williams Sonoma so you know it’s dedicated to high quality.

Why is everyone obsessed with this brand? Aside from the whole eco-friendly thing, the way West Elm operates is pretty smooth. Releasing an exclusive collection every season, there’s certainly a special feeling that comes with buying from the line. You’ll find seasonal, vibrant, and neutral colors within its collection of sofas, coffee tables, entertainment units, and more.

Of course, West Elm doesn’t just outfit your living room, it has furniture for every spot in your house and you can shop by piece or by room. Or view inspirational photos to spark your own ideas. Two to three-seater sofas cost between $1,700-$2,200, bar stools start at $125, and coffee tables are on sale for as low as $69.

Of all of the big names on my list of best furniture brands, I found West Elm the easiest to shop with. So it scores serious points for that.

  • Tons of design options
  • Fashionable colors & fabrics
  • Mid-range prices
  • Variety of styles including contemporary, modern, and mid-century

Founded in 1995 by Shawn Nelson, even though Lovesac is one of the younger names on my list of best furniture brands, it’s one of the most iconic. If you own a TV, you’ve probably heard of the brand. If you live in certain US states, you may have even visited a theatre set up with its MovieSacs.

Known as the World’s Most Comfortable Seat, Lovesac specializes in customizable sectionals that fit any home. Their Sactionals are built to your preferences, and one seat starts at $700 (arms are extra).

How To Shop For The Best Furniture Brands

Best Furniture Brands

Not every company will have exactly what you’re looking for, but the cool thing about the best furniture brands is that they have everyone covered. To zero in on the one that’s right for your home, I’ve put together this list of what to consider as you shop.

Selection

Love variety? Then you’ll likely find more options for your home by choosing a brand with a larger inventory. All of the names on my list of best furniture brands offer furniture for the main rooms in your home, but some go even further, adding rugs and decor. If you need more than just furniture, then go for a brand that has it all.

Style

Furniture companies usually have a certain sense of style. If it’s something specific you’re looking for, say an emerald green velvet Victorian couch, you’ll probably find it with a brand that either specializes in Victorian furniture or has a huge selection of styles.

I’ve included a few names on my list of best furniture brands that carry a variety of styles. Search for the style you’re looking for at each of the brands to ensure they have what you want.

Comfort

If you’re buying a couch, bed, or even a rug, you probably want it to be comfortable. Not all of them are, and while all of the best furniture brands have cushy styles, some are better known for their comfort than others.

Quality

You probably noticed that one or two of the best furniture brands offer a wide spectrum of prices. That means the quality of the items they offer varies too. It’s safe to assume that cheap furniture is made with cheap materials like chipboard, and may not last as long as something made from hardwood would.

Price

Furniture is expensive. If you find something cheap, it’s often because it’s made from low-quality materials and most likely in a mass-production factory. You’ll likely find yourself replacing it soon.

If you’d rather have something that will last you for years, you’ll need to shop for pricier products. But don’t stress, pretty much all of the best furniture brands offer financing options. If you’d rather pay for your furniture over time, shop from one that has this.

FAQ

Best Furniture Brands

What are the most durable furniture materials?

It depends on what you’re buying, but usually, furniture made of hardwood or aluminum will be very durable and long-lasting. Chipboard is flimsy and can swell over time in humid weather, breaking apart easily.

If you’re looking to buy a couch, they say leather is the most durable material while synthetic microfiber comes in at a close second.

Why is furniture so expensive?

Not all furniture is out-of-this-world expensive, but still, when it comes time to buy a coffee table, couch, bookshelf, and entertainment stand, you’ll wonder how you got to $2,000 so quickly. And that’s just for one room! Here are a few reasons furniture costs as much as it does:

  1. Most of it is made to last
  2. Handmade
  3. Made with quality materials
  4. Big pieces

If expensive furniture isn’t in your budget right now, we’ve included a few names on my list of best furniture brands that offer less costly options. Remember to check out financing options too!

What is the best way to clean furniture?

How you clean furniture will depend on what it’s made from. Here are some simple cleaning steps for common pieces:

  • Leather couch: use a damp cloth that’s been dipped in warm, soapy water to spot treat stains or messes
  • Glass coffee table: Wipe away crumbs and dust with a microfiber cloth, follow up with a glass-specific cleaning spray or a 1:1:1 solution of water, vinegar, and alcohol
  • Wooden bookshelf: Don’t use harsh cleaners on wood, especially if it has a polish. Instead, use a conventional lemon oil solution or make your own from 1 cup of olive oil and 0.25 cup of vinegar
