About BrainMD Supplements

BrainMD Supplements Review

The brain is the control center of the body[1]. It has roughly 86 billion neurons controlling everything from your emotions to hunger levels to pain. But just like our cells, the brain needs proper nutrition, and a lot of what it needs, it can’t form itself[2].

If you don’t give your brain what it needs to thrive, the rest of your body may suffer. Poor brain health can cause low energy and moods, poor memory, anxiety, unhealthy eating patterns, and a slew of other conditions. So what do we do to help? The answer is simple: give it what it needs.

A study[3] in the US showed that diets rich in green vegetables, berries, nuts, olive oil, legumes, and fish and low in meats and saturated fats (aka the MIND diet) were associated with a slower decline in cognitive functions. Although the MIND diet[4] is rich in vitamins E and B, carotenes, flavonoids, and omega-3, there is no evidence that supplementation with such vitamins has the same impact as following the diet.

BrainMD was created to feed the brain with the vital nutrients, amino acids, and minerals it needs for optimal function. It was launched by none other than one of America’s leading psychiatrists and brain health experts, Dr. Daniel Amen.

Though the brand is called BrainMD, its supplement line includes formulas that reach into the far corners of health, boosting immunity, benefitting sleep, and providing your cells with quality nutrition.

Its bioavailable, potent formulas are sworn on by celebrities like Raven Symone and featured in notable publications like Eat This, Not That, and Natural Products Insider. To date, the brand has generated a healthy following of 60k across its social media platforms.

There’s a lot to unpack in this BrainMD supplements review, so let’s dive right in. Ahead, you’ll discover critical information about the brand and its acclaimed formulas, answers to important FAQs, feedback from customers, and much, much more.

A regular on PBS, Dr. Amen is easily one of the best-known clinical neuroscientists in America and is highly praised for his line of cutting-edge supplements. BrainMD was founded in 2009 with the mission “to help the world feel better, brain first.”

The California-based brand prioritizes brain health but also recognizes that educating the public is a big step in helping them achieve full-body wellness.

BrainMD Supplements Omega-3 Power Review

BrainMD tells us that omega-3s are the kind of fats we want in our diets. They’re needed in the brain for healthy function, around joints for reduced inflammation, and by your cells for proper maintenance.

A literary review[5] by I. Denis and colleagues highlights that getting enough omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids may slow the cognitive decline related to aging and reduce the incidence of senile dementia.

Moreover, a recently published meta-analysis[6] reported that omega-3 supplementation could significantly reduce pain in patients with osteoarthritis.

This brain and body-healthy supplement contains 1,600 mg of omega-3 fatty acids from a pure, clean, high-quality source that’s 5x more potent than other brands. A 1-month supply of Omega-3 Power is $25.

Ingredients

BrainMD Omega-3 Power is made up of three sources of the fatty acid sourced from pelagic fish with short lifespans, like anchovies, mackerel, and sardines:

  1. EPA: 860 mg
  2. DHA: 580 ml
  3. Other: 160 mg

Benefits

This supplement claims to do it all. From uplifting your mood, increasing focus, and promoting healthy circulation, Omega-3 Power is a smart choice of brain food that could even improve memory. A systematic review[7] including 14 clinical trials evaluated the effects of omega-3 fatty acids supplementation on elder populations. The authors concluded that omega-3 supplementation had a positive impact on cognitive functions.

In addition, it may prevent cognitive decline and improve cognitive impairment in aged adults.

How Does It Work

Omega-3s enter our bloodstream and make their way through our bodies. They coat joints, reduce inflammation, and provide healthy nutrition to the brain. Since your body only makes a small amount of omega-3 by itself, it’s important to supplement to give it what it needs to feel its best.

How to Take & Dosage

Adults will take two softgels two times per day, alongside a meal or snack. On the other hand, children will take one softgel daily per 40 lbs of weight.

BrainMD Supplements Brain & Body Power Review

Brain & Body Power packages three vital supplements into two daily capsule packs to bring about whole body and mind health. Including all of the basics, from vitamins and minerals to brain-supportive acids and digestive enzymes, this blend claims to improve memory, focus, mood, and overall vitality.

A systematic review[8] published in Nutrients highlights the importance of vitamins and minerals in supporting normal cognitive function and decreasing mental and physical fatigue while favoring a positive mood. The authors conclude that vitamin and mineral supplementation should be provided when nutritional needs are not met with the diet.

Making it easy to get what you need, you’ll get a month’s supply of these three formulas. BrainMD Brain & Body Power is $100.

Ingredients

Brain and Body Power packs 42 different vitamins, minerals, digestive enzymes, and organic fruits and vegetables into this daily supplement. It’s a long list of ingredients that includes an all-encompassing spectrum of health boosters to bring about full-body health. What to expect in each pack:

  • Omega-3 Power
  • Brain & Memory Power Boost
  • NeuroVite Plus

Free from common allergens like gluten, soy, and dairy, this supplement does contain fish oil, meaning it’s not suitable for vegans.

Benefits

Each supplement included in these packs brings about its own benefits. Omega-3 Power is designed to boost brain function, improve your mood, and promote healthy circulation, Brain & Memory Power Boost targets brain function, and NeuroVite Plus caters to cell, tissue, and organ health.

How Does It Work

With a potent blend of vitamins, minerals, acids, and antioxidants, you can think of Brain and Body Power like a multivitamin of sorts—just packed with a lot more than your average daily pill.

How to Take & Dosage

Take two packets of Brain and Body Power daily with meals. Each packet contains 5 capsules, so just be prepared to chug down a total of 10 caps per day. It’s important that you take them with meals to make sure your body absorbs them the right way.

BrainMD Supplements Serotonin Mood Support Review

Depression can come into our lives for a multitude of reasons, but often, it’s chalked up to an imbalance of serotonin in the brain. It turns out that to create the happiness hormone, our brains need a few special chemicals that they don’t make naturally.

Without them, it’s easy to become depressed or have negative thoughts. BrainMD Serotonin Mood Support combines a blend of targeted ingredients to help calm your mind and inspire positive thoughts. A bottle of 120 capsules is $50.

Ingredients

Serotonin Mood Support combines five critical ingredients in this effective formula.

  • Vitamin B6: important for the production of over 100 enzymes that assist the brain in making neurotransmitters
  • Vitamin B12 (as methylcobalamin): bioavailable and linked to positive moods, energy, and mental clarity, this vitamin helps maintain brain and spinal cord health
  • Folate (as methylfolate): your brain needs this mineral to make neurotransmitters and insulate nerve cells. According to one review article[9], folate and other B-vitamins (B6 and B12) are essential for normal brain function throughout the lifecycle.
  • Satiereal®: BrainMD’s patented saffron extract. It has four antioxidant compounds that protect the brain and help with serotonin production. A systematic review[10] published by A.L. Lopresti and colleagues found that saffron extract showed antidepressant effects in 6 clinical trials. This appears to be related to its serotoninergic antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties.
  • 5-Hydroxytryptophan: As described in a literature review[11] published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, this amino acid, that’s easily transformed into serotonin, is involved in the modulation of mood, cognition, learning, memory, pain, appetite, and sleep processes.

With no animal products, soy, yeast, or gluten, these supplements are safe for vegans and vegetarians.

Benefits

Serotonin Mood Support targets three main areas of your health:

  1. Calm
  2. Mood
  3. Appetite

All are linked to healthy production levels of the happiness hormone in your brain which has the ability to elevate your mood and produce a sense of peace and tranquility. While taking this supplement, you may experience a general feeling of well-being and positivity, increased energy and motivation, and fewer cravings throughout the day.

How Does It Work

Using a blend of carefully selected ingredients, Serotonin Mood Support provides critical help to your brain, supplying it with the right tools to produce serotonin. And since the happiness hormone produces more effects than just mood elevation, you may experience a more satisfying sleep, healthier eating patterns, and a more fruitful social life.

How to Take & Dosage

You’ll need to take a total of four Serotonin Mood Support capsules each day, but you can spread them out throughout the day. They’re to be taken alongside meals, but this may differ if you’ve received guidance from a nutritional physician.

Who Are BrainMD Supplements For?

BrainMD Supplements Review

BrainMD supplements target a range of health concerns and conditions, but remember, they do not replace the advice of your doctor. Helping with issues that extend from focus to anxiety to sleep, the brand even has a kids-approved collection for attention support and nutrition.

For the most part, its supplements are designed for adults, but each one comes with its own benefits and warnings. For example, though Serotonin Mood Support is a good choice for vegans, it should not be used by those on antidepressants or pregnant women.

Before consuming, be sure to read each product carefully and ask a healthcare professional.

BrainMD Supplements Side Effects

BrainMD Supplements Review

Though BrainMD doesn’t list side effects for its products online, we did a little digging about certain ingredients to find out what kind of effects they may cause if taken in excess.

The first one we looked at was 5-HTP[12], which is included in the Serotonin Mood Support. When taken in excess, this serotonin precursor can cause a serotonin syndrome[11] characterized by abnormal behavior, mental function disturbances, and intolerance. Severe intoxication can be life-threatening.

In rare cases, 5-HTP may lead to eosinophilia-myalgia syndrome (EMS), leading to muscle tenderness and abnormalities in your blood.

For the Omega 3[13] fatty acids in the Omega-3 Power supplements, we discovered that taking too much can cause less serious side effects like bad breath, body odor, headache, heartburn, nausea, and diarrhea.

The Brain and Body Power supplement contains many different ingredients that potentially come with their side effects if taken in excess.

Generally, taking too many vitamins[14] can cause hypervitaminosis symptoms[15] such as nausea, diarrhea, and stomach cramps. Vitamin C overdose can precipitate kidney stones, Vitamin B6 may lead to severe sensory neuropathies, and excessive Vitamin E intake can cause bleeding.

The consumption of excessive quantities of minerals[15] is also harmful. Zinc overdose is associated with taste and smell impairments, while too much selenium can lead to hair loss, fatigue, and nerve damage.

These are just some of the potential side effects when taking too many vitamins, minerals, and compounds, but there may be more. It’s important to talk to your healthcare professional before adding anything new to your diet.

BrainMD Supplements Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

BrainMD Supplements Review

The whole purpose of BrainMD is to help you live better, so it’s kind of important that we find out if its supplements actually work. To do that, we’re going to need to hear from those who have tried them.

In this section of our Brain MD Supplements review, we combed the web for customer ratings and comments that shed some light on the quality and effectiveness of the brand’s products. First up, a few ratings from BrainMD.com:

  • Omega-3 Power: 5/5 stars from 370
  • Serotonin Mood Support: 4.5/5 stars from 396 reviews
  • Brain and Body Power: 4.7/5 stars from 494 reviews

We decided to take a closer look at Brain and Body Power. The comment section is filled with hundreds of happy BrainMD reviews about how this product has made a difference in customers’ lives.

One BrainMD supplements review from a 49-year-old female with brain fog, short-term recall issues, and shrill tinnitus read: “After only a little over a week, I’ve already noticed very pleasant changes…I feel as though a light has been turned on in my head and am better able to follow and pay attention to others.”

When taking something new, it’s not always that effects are experienced right away. It’s great to read that this supplement produces quick results, and that’s something that Dr. Amen says his products are designed to do.

In search of some feedback for the brand’s other products, we checked Amazon for the Focus and Energy supplement which has an overall score of 4.3/5 stars from 226 buyers. To see who rated it what, we’ve included the rating snapshot for that score below:

  • 5 stars: 65%
  • 4 stars: 12%
  • 3 stars: 12%
  • 2 stars: 7%
  • 1 star: 4%

Of its efficacy, one BrainMD supplements review revealed, “For many years I have suffered from severe mental fatigue…I have noticed after a day or two that my mind almost doesn’t fatigue…it makes a huge difference in my overall alertness during the day.”

Another success story mentioned that the supplements give them “a great boost of positivity, removes my anxiety…and keeps me focused for a good 5 hours on point. It wears off slowly.”

It looks like another BrainMD product provides quick effects, showing us just how beneficial and bioavailable the ingredients the brand uses truly are.

For our last dose of feedback, we headed over to Trustpilot and found a fabulous review about BrainMD Tyrosine. The user who wrote the comments suffers from a condition called Trichotillomania that causes them to pull out their hair and lose focus.

After taking it, they wrote: “I have only taken it for a month, but it has done wonders for me…Since taking the supplement I have NO URGE TO PULL HAIR OR BITE NAILS. My nails are long and lovely and my hair is growing in nice and thick.”

From what we can see, BrainMD supplements are potent, effective, and life-changing for the thousands of people who use them. Providing relief, energy, and focus, they look to be truly helpful for a range of health conditions.
