About Clean Origin
All that glitters isn’t gold, and in the case of diamonds, I’ve come to learn that just because they’re beautiful doesn’t mean they were sourced in an ethical way. The truth is that diamonds have a dirty reputation, one that Clean Origin makes spotless with its lab-created gems.
Clean origin sells 100% lab-created diamonds, identical to mined diamonds right down to the chemical structure. They’re authentic, clean, and have all the shimmer you’ve ever longed for and none of the blood and tears that go on inside the mined diamond market.
Clean Origin has made quite the name for itself, landing features in a wide range of notable publications like Forbes, Brides, and even Men’s Journal. They’re also making a splash on social media, with 11k+ collective following. What’s your take on lab-made diamonds? If you need more information, I’ve got you covered in this Clean Origin review.
Here, I’ll give you a rundown on the brand and its best-selling pieces, answer important FAQs, provide feedback from customers, and more. So let’s go ahead and get into it, no digging required.
Why You Should Trust Us
Our mission is to help you make better, more informed purchase decisions. Our team spends hours researching, consulting with medical experts, gathering insight from expert professionals, reviewing customer feedback, and analyzing products to provide you with the information you need.
Founded in 2017, Clean Origin is a modern brand aimed at modern folks with high standards. It was developed by 3rd generation merchants in diamonds Alex Weindling, Terry Burman (who made a name for himself as the CEO of Signet Jewelers, Sterling Jewelers, and Zale Corporation), and Ryan Bonificino, the former Chief Marketing Officer of Alex and Ani.
An impressive lineup no doubt, and one that I think makes Clean Origin even more appealing…these guys know their way in, out, and around jewelry. Though it’s always a team effort, Weindling was the one with the idea. His vision? 100% ethical, real, and quality gems sold online—a place that diamonds aren’t normally sold.
Their mission is simple: “to improve the diamond shopping experience,” and they’ve done so by streamlining the process by taking it online, choosing lab-grown over mined, and keeping prices affordable. If you’re worried about supporting a brand that sells both—don’t be. You won’t find a single mined diamond in its collection.
What else does this brand have in store for you? It’s all coming up in this Clean Origin review. Below, you’ll find its highlights, and after that, I’ll give you a glimpse of its super-conscious creations.
- Gorgeous selection of earrings, bracelets, rings, & necklaces
- Chemically & physically the same as mined diamonds
- Ethical all the way through
- Less expensive than mined diamonds (about 20%-30%)
- GCAL & IGI Certified
- Free US & Canada shipping
- Free US returns
- Virtual appointments
- Payment plans through Affirm available
It didn’t take me long to gather that Clean Origin is all about diamonds and only diamonds. Set in hand-finished recycled precious metal rings, bracelets, and earrings, I think it’s pretty cool that the brand’s lab-grown stones are the same in every way as mined diamonds—only they don’t involve the same horrifying practices that traditionally accompany them.
In the next section of this Clean Origin review, I will take you through a virtual glass case of the brand’s engagement and wedding rings, all available in sizes 3-12, and why it’s one of the best jewelry brands around.
How does shopping work? Once you choose your ring, you’ll pick from a large assortment of compatible diamonds that vary in carat, color, and clarity. Read on for all of the dazzling details.
Clean Origin Engagement Ring Review
Engagement rings have long become something of a showpiece. Designed to bring the “wow-factor,” the Clean Origin diamond engagement ring selection is truly something to behold. A lover of diamonds (who isn’t?), I found myself gawking at row after row of glistening jewels.
With a mix of simple to showstopping bands, you’ll get your choice of 14K white or yellow gold, 18k white or yellow gold, and platinum. Below, I’ll walk you through the brand’s best sellers.
Clean Origin Quiet Beauty Princess Cut Ring Review
Classic and elegant, the Quiet Beauty Princess Cut Ring is ideal for a woman who doesn’t like a lot of fuss. I happen to fall into that category, so naturally, this piece struck a chord with me.
A single diamond set on a polished band, this uncomplicated ring is all about grace and sophistication. One Clean Origin customer sung its praises:
“I am absolutely in love with my Clean Origin ring! I have wanted to upgrade my engagement ring to an ethical diamond ring for years now and after doing a good amount of online research of companies that offer ethical diamonds, I am so glad I landed here. My whole experience was seamless from start to finish: maneuvering the website, placing my order, customer service providing updates, and delivery.”
Compatible with princess cut diamonds of carats between .45-2.15, show your beloved you know them like no other with this sweet and meaningful ring starting at $785-$1,150.
Clean Origin Natasha Ring Review
A ring for those who like a little extra glimmer, the Natasha Ring pours on the shine with an oval-cut diamond and a diamond-encrusted band. While I’m more partial to simple designs, I think this is utterly fabulous—a real show-stopper.
One happy shopper agreed: “The ordering process was easy and the product was perfect. Very nice ring.”
Measuring 2.2 mm in width, it’s dainty and thin, and you’ll choose from a 0.5-2.55 carat stone that shines as bright as your love.
Make your special day extra special with the Natasha Ring starting at $1,395-$2,005.
Clean Origin Braided Solitaire Ring Review
Rope3 signifies strength and an everlasting bond, and the Braided Solitaire Ring captures this essence for an eternity with a breathtaking round diamond. The brand reminds me a David Yurman design, but I appreciate knowing that the stunning stone on top was sourced without conflict.
As for the band, it features a soft, matte twist three-quarters around your finger, fading into a smooth, polished ring for a touch of elegance.
The ring itself is 2.6 mm, and you’ll select diamonds with a carat of 0.5-2.5. Create special, long-lasting moments starting at $670-$1,190.
Clean Origin Weddings Review
Clean Origin wedding rings are breathtaking. I’m pretty sure I stopped breathing while looking at the collection, which, though it’s small, I loved that each ring was incredibly different—no two look alike.
You can browse through braided, classic, and diamond-encrusted bands set with the diamond of your choice. Just like its other pieces, you can pick from 14K white or yellow gold, 18k white or yellow gold, as well as platinum for the band.
Up next in this Clean Origin review, I’ll showcase the brand’s best-selling wedding sets which may contrast in style but they sure do match in extravagance.
Clean Origin Twisted Halo Bridal Set Review
Creative, the Twisted Halo Bridal Set features crisscrossing bands decorated with bright diamonds. With a round center stone, this set comes with a pavé wedding band that matches up perfectly to the engagement ring. I certainly wouldn’t be mad wearing these.
I counted a total of 49 gems on this ring, of which measures 4.4 mm on the finger. Choose from carats .33-.55, which when they’re added up, equal a whole ‘lotta shine. Get this eye-catching set starting at $2,435-$3,415.
Clean Origin Largo Vintage Bridal Set Review
I view jewelry like art, so I love a little artistic juxtaposition. The Largo Vintage Bridal Set has an old-time feel that’s contrasted against the modern nature of lab-created stones. There’s a total of 34 diamonds on this 5 mm ring, one large round gem, the others delicately lining the top of the band.
A higher-end design, you’ll choose from diamonds with carats between 0.5-2.55 for this style, which comes along with a wedding band that nestles perfectly up against the engagement ring. Say yes for a lifetime with this special set starting at $2,555-$4,125.
Clean Origin Czarina Bridal Set Review
The Czarina Bridal Set is regal-looking and calls upon glamour from the past, with a large oval diamond in the center of the diamond pavé band. This particular ring has a more squarish, parallel look about it, the edges flat instead of soft and rounded. I think it’s perfect for those who like a little more drama in their lives.
Evocative of times long ago, this glorious set comes with a simpler diamond wedding band with small circular stones. Measuring 3.8 mm across, it’s compatible with carats between 0.65-2.1. Choose a time-honored classic with the Czarina Bridal Set, starting at $2,135-$3,005.
Who Are Clean Origin Diamonds For?
With ethics at the forefront of its company, Clean Origin is a modern brand for those who care about where their jewelry comes from.
Diamonds are a tricky stone, with a lot of them grabbed in unfair trades, causing warfare, slavery, child labor, and abuse. Not to mention, mining for them is destroying the environment.
I think Clean Origin is for you if you still want the sparkle but none of the horror that comes from buying a mined diamond. Lower in cost and just as beautiful, the brand offers a range of jewelry for special occasions like engagements or any day you feel like adding a little clean sparkle to your life.
Are Clean Origin‘s Lab Created Diamonds Certified By The GIA?
Clean Origin partners with independent labs to certify its diamonds. These include the IGI (International Gemological Institute) and GCAL (Gem Certification and Assurance Lab).
Both highly-regarded names in the gem world, I learned that these internationally-recognized labs are known for grading both mined and lab-grown diamonds. GIA (Gemological Institute of America) diamonds are also often found in stock, however, I didn’t see any in stock while writing this Clean Origin review.
Acronyms getting a little confusing? Trust me, I get it. A little brief on the IGI: Founded in Belgium in 1975, the IGI trains world-renowned gemologists. As for the GCAL, this NYC-based lab was created in 2001 and is known for issuing top-notch diamond certifications. A GCAL diamond will have been properly graded for cut, clarity, color, and weight.
Clean Origin Reviews: What Do Customers Think?
If you’ve never seen one in person, it may seem risky to take a chance on a lab-grown diamond. Rest assured they are real diamonds, but will they have the same sparkle and wow factor?
In this part of my Clean Origin review, I plan on finding that out, and below, you’ll read through an array of feedback from around the web that talks about the look, quality, and impression the brand’s diamonds have.
First, let’s take a look at Clean Origin’s average ratings on some of the most trusted review sites:
- Better Business Bureau: 5/5 stars
- Trustpilot: 4.3/5 stars
- Sitejabber: 5/5 stars
- The Diamond Pro: 4/5 stars
Pretty impressive, huh? Now let’s shift to some reviews from the brand’s site.
There isn’t an overall star score shown online, but I can see that 1,277 people have left nearly all 5-star reviews. One read, “The ring is delicately sized but good quality.” In general, people seem satisfied with the quality and look of its diamonds and bands, with a few noting great customer service as well.
Our next gem of feedback comes from Google. There, 7 buyers have awarded the brand a score of 4.4/5 stars that breaks down like this:
- 5 stars: 85%
- 4 stars: 0%
- 3 stars : 0%
- 2 stars : 0%
- 1 star: 15%
With the majority reporting flawless service, the Clean Origin reviews on Google reflected customers’ positive experiences while shopping in-store with the brand. Here’s one that mentions the buying process as a whole:
“The staff here is even better than the diamonds (which is saying a lot!). This is a shop for ethical diamonds…Ciara was flexible, patient, spent time with us and let us browse quietly when we wanted to. So happy with the quality of our purchases!”
When it comes to shopping for diamonds, it’s important to have the right help. A knowledgeable, patient staff is key for big occasions like engagements, and I was pleased to find that not only is Clean Origin’s team helpful, but they’re incredibly respectful of the purchasing process in general as well.
Now, my last bit of feedback comes from the brand’s Facebook page, which shows a rating of 4.8/5 stars from 22 customers. The comments are mostly happy engagement stories with photos of beautiful rings, the majority of them mentioning smooth customer service interactions and appreciation for a real diamond with an affordable price.
One Clean Origin review read, “My ring is GORGEOUS!! The ring setting is stunning and so well made, and the diamond is flawless. Clean origin, Kim, and all of the incredible staff made the process simple & stress free for my fiancé, and worked for weeks with him to find the perfect ring. I couldn’t be happier!”
Quality diamonds and precious metals, the brand looks to create true masterpieces that customers are very pleased with. Along with stunning jewelry, Clean Origin customer service is on point, and that’s a good thing too because it’s important to have the support you need when purchasing a diamond—a lot of people don’t have the first clue what to look for.
Are Clean Origin Diamonds Worth It?
Shopping online for diamonds may seem a little iffy, but Clean Origin does literally everything in their power to make you feel comfortable. From responsive customer service to transparency and insurance before delivering a gorgeous product, this brand proves that expensive items like diamonds do have a place in the virtual shopping world.
Need more reasons to shop? Lab-grown diamonds have a shorter supply chain which means you’ll save money. More importantly though, purchasing a lab-grown diamond means you’re buying with a clean conscience. It’s truly a win-win however you look at it.
My verdict in this Clean Origin review? I agree with their founder. Buying lab-made diamonds is truly the way of the future.
