About KraveBeauty

KraveBeauty Review

You may be tempted to call KraveBeauty a K-Beauty brand because its products are made in Korea and its founder is South Korean. However, you’d be mistaken to do that, according to a 2017 article in WWD, in which the founder, beauty influencer Liah Yoo, was interviewed. Krave Beauty is all about a ‘less is more’ mindset, as opposed to many K-Beauty brands that embrace the complex and multi-step processes typical of Korean beauty routines.

KraveBeauty has been featured in reviews by The Derm Review, Very Kemi, Style and Senses, and MichxMash. It has also been reviewed by beauty gurus and Youtubers worldwide, such as James Welsh, Romy, Hyram, and MIxed Makeup. Founder Liah Yoo has amassed an impressive audience of over 1.5 million followers, and been interviewed by Glamour Magazine.

In this Kravebeauty review, we will give you a comprehensive run-down of KraveBeauty, including its company practices, shipping and return policies, values, customer and product reviews, pros and cons, and more. We aim to give you all the information you need to make a decision about whether you want to invest in the products KraveBeauty offers or not.

Overview of KraveBeauty

KraveBeauty Review

Beauty influencer Liah Yoo founded KraveBeauty in 2017. After many years of blessing her followers with knowledge and experience she gained while working at Korea’s largest beauty company, AmorePacific, she decided to take the dive and create her own label. KraveBeauty urges people to #PressReset on the way they think about skin care by thinking twice before buying into brands that sell skin care for the sake of profit, pretend to be ‘quick-fixes’, and promise perfection when perfection is an empty concept. KraveBeauty is beauty in its simplest form.

Krave beauty does not boast an incredibly large product line: it sells a cleanser, a cream, a serum, and an exfoliator. This is a testament to its dedication to reminding customers that less is more, and that skin care does not have to consist of 1,000 steps. The brand is vegan, cruelty-free, and appears to make many environmentally-friendly and ethical business decisions. KraveBeauty is headquartered in South Korea, where all of the products that it sells are made. The brand chose to manufacture in Korea because this allows them access to the best quality ingredients and sophisticated production technology.

I know you are ‘kraving’ the details, but before we give you those, check out these preliminary pros and cons.

KraveBeauty Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser Review

The KraveBeauty Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser uses key ingredients like matcha and hemp seed oil to restore skin’s essential amino acids and antioxidants. Coconut-based surfactants deeply cleanse without stripping the skin of its natural moisture, and vitamin B5 and sodium PCA provide extra hydration. To use, lather the jelly cleanser on skin with water twice daily for optimal results. Purchase this online in a 4.5oz tube for $16.

KraveBeauty Great Barrier Relief Review

Great Barrier Relief is the multi-tool of the collection – you can use it as a daily serum, in place of a moisturizer, or even to spot-treat acne. Tamanu oil clears breakouts and improves skin texture, while safflower and rosehip oil calms angry skin, soothes irritation, and hydrates. Niacinamide works to fade dark spots and discoloration, while preventing future breakouts. To use, cleanse skin first, then apply 1-2 pumps onto skin, massaging it in, then follow up with your favorite moisturizer. Dive into this product for $28.

KraveBeauty Kale-Lalu-yAHA Review

You’ll be screaming ‘Hallelujah’ at the top of your lungs when you bless your skin with KraveBeauty’s Kale-Lalu-yAHA. Kale, spinach, and parsley give your skin a boost of radiance and energy, while vitamin B5 provides intense hydration that lasts all day. Glycolic acid sloughs off dead skin cells, and then hyaluronic acid comes in to replace the skin’s moisture. To use, cleanse your face, then soak a cotton pad with the exfoliator, smooth it over your skin without rinsing, and follow up with your favorite moisturizer. Leave your prayers for radiant skin behind for the price of $25.

KraveBeauty Oat So Simple Water Cream Review

If only the oats that are available at the grocery store were this nourishing…KraveBeauty’s Oat So Simple Water Cream has a deceivingly simple formula that features only 9 ingredients: oat, water, 4 moisturizers, 2 skin emollients, and 1 formula stabilizer. It goes without saying that the hero of the product is oat, which calms irritation and balances skin that has been put through the ringer by environmental irritants and stressors. After cleansing your face, apply a bit of this heavenly cream, wait for it to absorb, then follow up with an SPF. KraveBeauty offers this dreamy product for $28.

Is KraveBeauty A Korean Brand?

KraveBeauty Review

KraveBeauty is a Korean brand in the sense that the founder is Korean and the products are made in Korea. However, KraveBeauty is not a K-Beauty brand. As stated by the founder herself in a 2017 interview, K-Beauty routines often feature complex, multi-step processes, special, almost ritualistic, methods of application, and luxurious, foreign ingredients. Although the luxurious ingredients part has been retained by KraveBeauty, the other stuff has not. KraveBeauty prides itself on its simplicity, allowing customers to love their skin as opposed to loving their skin care.

Who Is KraveBeauty For?

KraveBeauty Review

In the FAQs section of the site, KraveBeauty mentions that their products work with the skin’s natural ‘ecosystem’. Furthermore, they are free of toxic synthetic fragrances, comedogenic essential oils, harmful allergic sensitizers, and potentially-irritating animal byproducts. For these reasons, KraveBeauty products are safe and effective for every skin type, including troublesome skin, dry skin, and/or sensitive skin.

That said, it is always a wise decision to consult a physician or a specialist before you begin a completely new skin care regime. Also, make sure you have a solid idea of ingredients that trigger allergic reactions or irritation on your skin, so that you can easily pinpoint them amongst a list and avoid them to the best of your abilities.

Comparison: KraveBeauty vs. COSRX

KraveBeauty Review

COSRX is a K-Beauty brand that was established in 2013 by Sanghoon Jeon. The name is meant to be word-play on the terms ‘cosmetic’ and ‘rx’, implying that the products embody a fusion between makeup and skincare. COSRX is based in Korea, and it ships to the US and Canada. Like KraveBeauty it offers free shipping after a threshold amount is reached, but unlike KraveBeauty, it has a concrete return policy that states that customers can return any item within 30 days of the delivery date.

COSRX has 3295 reviews on its site, 82% of which are 5-star reviews. Elsewhere online, customers are saying great things about the brand. People are gushing that the brand carries affordable products for all skin types, and that it is incredibly transparent about ingredients used. They also have a couple of promotions going on, which can be taken advantage of with a promo code.

Let’s see how the prices compare. On the KraveBeauty site, you can buy the Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser in a 4.5oz bottle for $16. Meanwhile, on the COSRX site, you can purchase the highly-reviewed, best-selling Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser in a 20ml bottle for $5, a 50ml bottle for $9, and a 150ml bottle for $11, which is discounted from the original price of $14. If we transform 4.5oz to ml, you are getting approximately 130ml of KraveBeauty cleanser for $16, and 150ml of COSRX cleanser for $11.

KraveBeauty Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

KraveBeauty Review

KraveBeauty has been reviewed by various customers on its own website, along with posters on Reddit. On the KraveBeauty site, the brand is rewarded 4.5/5 stars, with 3148 total reviews. The site claims that 87% of reviewers would allegedly recommend the products to others. Reviewers are saying that the brand’s products are gentle and effective. One reviewer writes that they helped her with acne scars: “I saw a big improvement in my skin’s texture, specifically with acne scars. My t-zone is also less oily, and it helps when I do too much with my skincare. I’ve already repurchased two more bottles so I don’t have to worry about running out.”

Another reviewer mirrors the positivity of the previous one, stating that KraveBeauty products helped her alleviate the troublesome symptoms of eczema: “I had terrible eczema on my face and this helped my skin recover almost immediately. I was so tired of buying so many products and have nothing work. I recommend this 1000%.”

An OP on Reddit asks, “Is Krave Beauty really worth the hype?” This question has garnered responses like, “I really like her Great Barrier Relief serum & the new Oat So Simple Moisturizer – they’ve definitely helped my skin in terms of protection and soothing when I use actives (or when I had a bad bad reaction to dermaplaning). I tried the Matcha Hemp Cleanser and it’s great because it’s simple and gentle,” and, “I love the Krave cleanser. It’s my OG and I’m taking it to my grave. I also love the Oat so simple Moisturizer and the Great Barrier relief. Both of these items are so important in my morning/evening routine.”

Is KraveBeauty Worth It?

KraveBeauty Review

KraveBeauty has no outward red flags. They offer customers safe, effective, affordable skin care essentials that deliver on their promise to stick to the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) protocol. They also have been given positive reviews across the board and have been promoted by major media outlets and influencers alike. Negative reviews on the company and its products are far and few between.

The only downsides I can see about the brand is that it doesn’t ship to many places around the world, and it is only available online. Additionally, even though the products are affordably priced, it would be awesome for the brand to incentivize their customers further by putting some rewards programs, discounts, or perks in place. That said, it is a relatively young brand, and there is plenty of time for it to grow and change.

KraveBeauty Promotions & Discounts

KraveBeauty Review

Because the product line features so few items, which are incredibly affordably priced, and the site is relatively simplistic, there aren’t any sales, promotions, or discounts to be found on there. Customers also do not have the option of joining any kind of a rewards program either.
