About Monday

Monday Haircare Review

Everyone is in agreement that Mondays are the worst day of the week, but an easy way to turn them into the best day is by associating them with something worthwhile.

Personally, I buy a half dozen donuts every Monday, but I know others that use the day to engage in some much-needed self-love. Their preferred method is a deep hair cleaning routine, which brings me to the subject I know you’re here for; Monday Haircare.

Jaimee Lupton founded Monday Haircare in 2020 to right the wrongs of the cosmetics industry. She wanted to create products that customers could trust to be healthy for them and the world around them.

Monday’s shampoo, conditioner, and gummies (among other items) are cruelty-free and do not contain parabens or SLS, compounds that can damage hair.

My Monday Haircare review will give you an idea of whether or not the brand lives up to their hype by looking at their hottest products, pros and cons, their prices, what customers think about them, and more.

Why You Should Trust Us

Pros and Cons

Monday Haircare Review

First things first, we need to cover Monday’s highlights and a few things to consider before making a purchase.

Pros

  • Affordable: Monday Haircare is a relatively affordable haircare brand compared to some of the high-end salon brands available.
  • Vegan and cruelty-free: Monday Haircare products are vegan and cruelty-free, which may appeal to consumers who prefer to use products that are not tested on animals.
  • Customizable: Monday Haircare offers a “hair quiz” on their website that helps consumers determine which products are best suited for their hair type and concerns.
  • Wide range of products: Monday Haircare offers a wide range of products, including products for different hair types, concerns, and styling needs.

Cons

  • Limited availability: Monday’s products may not be available in all areas, as the brand is still relatively new and may not be widely distributed.
  • Limited information: Some consumers may find that there is limited information available about the ingredients in Monday Haircare products or the manufacturing process.
  • Limited effectiveness: Some consumers may find that Monday Haircare products are not as effective as other, more expensive haircare brands.
  • Limited variety: While Monday offers a range of products, some consumers may find that there are not enough options available for their specific hair type or concerns

Ingredients & Benefits

Monday Haircare Review

Monday‘s formulas prioritize natural ingredients for a higher chance of having a fabulous mane. The brand’s entire range is free of SLS/SLES, parabens, and they do not test on animals.

Shea butter

Shea butter, parecked with antioxidants, deeply moisturizes and nourishes hair, especially curly, coily, and coarse types. It seals the hair’s cuticle, resulting in softness and a beautiful shine.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E, a potent antioxidant, supports scalp health by reducing oxidative stress and preserving the protective lipid layer, creating a strong foundation for hair growth.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil, rich in beneficial fatty acids, provides intense nourishment to the hair and scalp. It helps prevent protein loss, adds shine, and enhances light reflection, giving your hair a healthy glow.

Provitamin B5 (Panthenol)

Provitamin B5, also known as panthenol, is a renowned moisturizer that is a friend to delicate scalps. It soothes and nourishes both the skin and hair, promoting elasticity and improving the appearance of split ends.

Ginger root extract

Ginger root extract invigorates and volumizes thin, fine, or flat hair. It acts as an antioxidant and antimicrobial while stimulating blood flow to the scalp, boosting circulation and encouraging new hair growth.

Rice protein

Rice protein, a gluten-free molecule, enhances moisture retention in the hair. It improves flexibility and strength, resulting in healthier and more resilient hair.

Amino acids

Amino acids, the building blocks of proteins, reduce protein damage caused by coloring and protect against frizz-causing factors. Look for ingredients ending in ‘-ine,’ such as Glycine, Alanine, and Proline.

Keratine

Keratin, a deeply hydrating protein, binds to the hair, offering protection against heat styling and environmental elements. It repairs damaged hair, adds shine, and reduces frizz and split ends.

Grapefruit extract

Grapefruit extract, extracted from grapefruit peel and seeds, effectively removes build-up, eliminates excess oil, and promotes circulation, which encourages hair growth. It also possesses antioxidant properties.

5 Monday Bestsellers

Up next, I’ll go through some of the brand’s bestsellers. Keep reading for details on ingredients, benefits, and where to buy the products.

Monday Volume Shampoo + Conditioner

The first item in my Monday Haircare review was the recipient of the Best Shampoo and Conditioner for Fine Hair award at the 2021 Cosmo Holy Grail Beauty Awards. This product combo is ideal for people whose hair is a little on the thin or oil side.

Some of the active ingredients in Monday Volume Shampoo + Conditioner include the following:

  1. Ginger root extract
  2. Coconut oil
  3. Vitamine E

You can grab the pair on Amazon for $14. Customers say: ‘I have extremely oily roots and have a very hard time finding anything that can keep it looking clean after one day, but that wont make everything super dry. I have used this for 3 washes and the shampoo I feel gets out all the buildup of product really well. The conditioner really detangles and keeps my curls from looking dry. I would buy this again.

Monday Moisture Shampoo + Conditioner

On the flip side, some people (such as myself) have hair and a scalp that’s as dry as a crowd at an amateur improv comedy show. Thankfully, there’s the Monday Moisture Shampoo + Conditioner for folks like us. It can bulk up your hair and moisturize it with its ingredient blend of hydrolyzed rice protein, coconut oil, and Vitamin E. This set is available for $30 on Amazon.

Customers say: “I was a little worried after using the shampoo that my hair felt dry but once I finished with the conditioner it felt soft and moisturized. The smell is very salon like in a good way. Not overwhelming either.

Monday Gentle Shampoo + Conditioner

Next up is the Monday Gentle Shampoo + Conditioner, which lives up to its name for its hands-off approach to hair maintenance. This combination is meant to be as light as possible, barely leaving a fragrance after use.

It contains coconut oil, vitamin E, and shea butter, so it’s not trying to change the world so much as gently clean your hair. The Monday Gentle Shampoo + Conditioner costs $31 on Amazon.

Customers say: “My hair is much softer, less frizzy, and healthier. The packaging is so cute, and the bottle is a perfect size. It fits in my shower caddy so well and doesn’t take up much room in my shower, but there’s a good amount of product.

Monday Clarify Shampoo + Conditioner

If you feel that grease and oil have a death grip on your hair, then the Monday Clarify Shampoo + Conditioner may be just what the proverbial doctor ordered.

Using grapefruit extract, vitamin E, and coconut oil, this pair refreshes your hair and give it a light moisturizing coat. You can grab the shampoo on Amazon for $8

Customers say: “Gives hair a healthy look. It is good for my kind of hair which is very oily. This also smells really good and other people agree as well.

Monday Color Protect Shampoo + Conditioner

Once you’ve dyed your hair, you’ll go to war to ensure the color remains for as long as possible. If you’re willing to go to those lengths, you may as well purchase Monday Color Protect Shampoo + Conditioner, whose amino acid base can help you retain your dyed hair color for as long as possible.

This product pairing also uses shea butter, coconut oil, and vitamin E for optimal scalp health.

Sadly, it seems it’s not available on Amazon at the moment.

Monday Hair Gummies

The final product of my Monday Haircare review is a daily gummy that can benefit more than just your hair. Monday Hair Gummies contain 2,500mcg of biotin (a form of collagen), vitamin C, and vitamin E, supplying you with a hearty dose of antioxidants for overall health.

Biotin and vitamin C can strengthen your nails, teeth, skin, and bones.

Who Is Monday For?

Monday Haircare Review

Monday is for people who know their hair and what they need to improve it. For instance, if you know your hair is greasy, then consider the Monday Clarify Shampoo + Conditioner.

Monday Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Monday Haircare Review

To give you an idea of what customers think about Monday Haircare, I’ve collected the scores from Amazon on three of the brand’s most popular products.

  • Monday Moisture Shampoo + Conditioner: 4.4/5 stars based on more than 700 pieces of customer feedback
  • Monday Gentle Shampoo + Conditioner: 4.3/5 stars based on more than 600 pieces of customer feedback
  • Monday Volume Shampoo + Conditioner: 4.1/5 stars based on more than 410 pieces of customer feedback

The majority of Monday Haircare reviews favorably compared the products to salon brands. Not only did customers say Monday’s products were more affordable (unsurprisingly), but they added that they worked just as well if not outright better.

Here’s one Monday Haircare review from a customer on Ulta.com on the Monday Moisture Shampoo. “Leaves my hair smooth and shiny. Great price! It works better on my thick wavy hair than other more expensive hair products.

Monday Haircare Review

I couldn’t go through this Monday Haircare review without mentioning what customers didn’t like about the products. Some users reacted negatively to the shampoos, saying their scalp felt irritated. However, this could be due to one ingredient rather than the entire shampoo concoction.

Returning to what customers highlighted in their testimonials, they frequently mentioned that a little bit of Monday shampoo goes a long way. One customer said, “I have repurchased this a few times. My hair craves moisture and this gives. It’s so affordable and smells amazing. I get the large bottle and it lasts for a while.

One final point I want to include here is that customers said Monday was their favorite brand after dying their hair. Specifically, the Monday Repair Shampoo earned rave reviews on Home Testers Club for this reason, with one user writing, “Switched to to SLS free shampoos and tried this one. I have fine coloured hair and it leaves my hair feeling soft. Pleasant smell and bottle looks good in the bathroom. Would recommend this and have used multiple bottles of this since becoming widely available in Coles.”

Is Monday Legit?

Monday Haircare Review

You may have heard some rumblings of a Monday Haircare lawsuit, which came from the fact that Monday’s products used trace amounts of silicone which can damage your hair if you use them aggressively.

In reality, even though silicone is man-made, it’s safe for people and the environment, and it contributes to a healthy head of hair, which is why brands like Kevin Murphy, Redken, and L’Oreal use it in their products too.

Is Monday Worth It?

Monday Haircare Review

Since Monday’s prices are so low compared to other salon-quality brands, I can say that they’re worth trying at the very least. You may have to play around with the products to find out which is right for you, but the next section of this Monday haircare review will give you some considerations to help you narrow your options.

How To Choose The Best Monday Haircare Product

Monday Haircare Review

The best way to choose a Monday haircare product is by knowing your hair. Touch it and your scalp and think about how they feel. What words would you use to describe them to a friend? Do they feel dry, flakey, wet, or greasy? Once you find the right word, you can search Monday’s catalog for the item designed to treat hair like yours.

Alteratives

While Monday offers a range of hair care products, it’s always good to explore other options that may suit your specific needs. Here are a few alternative brands to consider:

  • Olaplex: Olaplex is a renowned brand known for its innovative hair care formulations. Their products focus on repairing and strengthening damaged hair, especially from chemical treatments and heat styling.
  • Madison Reed: Madison Reed is a brand that specializes in at-home hair color kits and hair care products. They offer salon-quality hair color options and a range of shampoos, conditioners, and treatments designed to maintain and enhance color-treated hair.
  • American Crew: American Crew is a popular brand that primarily caters to men’s grooming needs. They offer a wide range of hair care and styling products specifically designed for men, including shampoos, styling gels, and pomades.
