About Tushy

Tushy Bidet Review 1

Tushy is a relatable and hilarious brand of self-identified toilet crusaders, designing bidet attachments and bathroom products to reduce wastefulness and keep your tush clean. Tushy has been featured in big media sources like Business Insider and Tech Crunch, having established itself in the bathroom game since its founding in 2015. This Tushy bidet review gives a detailed look at the brand, what sets it apart from other bidet makers, and everything you need to know before purchasing from them.

Overview of Tushy

The first thing we’ll make clear in this Tushy review, is that the brand sells bidet attachments, not bidets. While traditional bidets are installed bowls that shoot out water entirely separate from the toilet, Tushy bidet attachments allow clean water to come out of the toilet after you do your business. You’re getting two birds (or should I say, two turds?) with one stone.

Moving on. Tushy is a relatively new US-based ecommerce brand in the bathroom industry, and they’ve got a lot of character. Poo jokes abound on their website and I had some good chuckles as I browsed. They really are shameless about their love for clean butts. This isn’t Tushy’s only mission, though. The brand is highly aware of the environmental implications surrounding bathroom usage, and they’re determined to reduce waste. Um… The kind that’s bad for the environment, that is.

Americans use 57 sheets of toilet paper on average in a single day (there’s a weird fact to know). Using a Tushy bidet attachment for toilet in a given week involves 1.3 gallons of water, versus 55.5 gallons of water without. If you’re using Tushy bamboo toilet paper, the difference is that no trees were harmed in the process. We’ll get into all of their products later on in this Tushy bidet review.

Tushy Bidet Review 2
@hellotushy

Tushy is determined to do (doo) good. They recognize that bathrooms and running water are a luxury in developing countries. A portion of Tushy profits are directed toward Samagra, a non-profit organization building toilet facilities in India. The brand is dedicated to helping struggling communities lead healthier, productive, and more dignified lives.

Tushy also has our health in mind, by protecting our booties from infection and disease. According to their site, wiping with dry paper or wet wipes contributes to the 30 million annual cases of hemorrhoids, UTIs, yeast infections, anal fissues, anal itching, etc. There’s no way for me to fact check this, but I suppose it makes sense. Tushy thinks that wiping with dry toilet paper is so 19th century. So apparently, if you use toilet paper, it’s like you’re living in the Victorian era.

If you’re in a hurry, here are the highlights of our Tushy bidet review:

Pros

  • Dedicated to minimizing their carbon footprint and bettering customers’ health
  • Bidet attachments come in a variety of colors
  • Compatible with standard round, oval, and elongated toilets
  • Site provides helpful information on adapting to toilets in other countries, how to use a bidet, benefits of using a bidet, and other FAQ
  • Has a Booty Bliss Guarantee (all bidets can be returned within 90 days)
  • Positive customer feedback, on and off site

Cons

  • Expensive compared to similar products
  • Multiple items are sold out
  • Can only contact Tushy through email

Tushy Bidet Attachments

Tushy carries only two bidet attachments, so you won’t be overwhelmed with options when it comes down to a buying decision. One gets the job done, and the other gets the job done in a fancier way, both installable in less than 10 minutes.

Neither Tushy model requires electricity or plumbing, only connection to a water supply. They fit all standard toilets and some one-piece toilets. We cover other key questions like toilet compatibility and installation in the FAQ section of this Tushy bidet review.

Tushy Classic

Tushy’s Classic Bidet features pressure and angle control. It’ll give you a targeted spray, so that things don’t get messy. The nozzle is self-cleaning, so that’s one less thing for you to do. It lowers when the Tushy is in use, and is then tucked away into a protected space to keep it sanitary. A sliding fastener connects the bidet securely to your toilet.

The water temperature emitted by a Tushy Classic is the same temperature as your tap water. According to Tushy, a “cool spray of water right on your bum is actually really refreshing on your warm, post-boo bottom.” If you’re opposed to a cool spray on your butt, you’ll want to skip through to the Tushy Spa model.

Tushy Classic mostly comes in white with options for knob colors, but there are some fun full-color options as well. Here are your choices:

  • White with bamboo knob: $89, originally $109
  • White with silver knob: $79, originally $99
  • White with gold knob: $79, originally $99
  • White with bronze (metal knob): $109, originally $119
  • White with platinum (metal knob): $109, originally $119
  • White with gunmetal (metal knob): $109, originally $119
  • Blue with bamboo knob: $89, originally $109
  • Pink with white knob: $89, originally $109
  • Black with gold knob: $89, originally $109

The white with bamboo is their most popular, but I’m partial to the white with either bronze or platinum—the metallic shades make them look pretty sophisticated. Unfortunately, some of these options are sold out, but you can subscribe to Tushy for a notification on when they’re back.

Tushy Spa

Tushy Spa is for those who really want to pamper their derriere. This Tushy model features temperature control (the additional knob) and includes a 9-foot hot water connection to create a heated bidet. Just like the Tushy Classic, it’s got pressure and angle controls and a self-cleaning nozzle. Note that this model must be near a sink to connect properly.

You have the same color options as with the Tushy Spa:

  • White with bamboo knobs (most popular): $109, originally $119
  • White with silver knobs: $109, originally $119
  • White with platinum (metal knobs): $119, originally $129
  • White with gold knobs: $109, originally $119
  • White with bronze (metal knobs): $119, originally $129
  • White with gunmetal (metal knobs): $119, originally $129
  • Blue with bamboo knobs: $109, originally $119
  • Pink with white knobs: $89, originally $109
  • Black with gold knobs: $89, originally $109

More bad news in this Tushy bidet review: some of these models are sold-out, as well. Personally, I’m not very patient, but if you don’t mind waiting, sign up with your email address to get notified when they return.

Tushy Bathroom Products

Tushy Ottoman

So, this cute little toilet stool is specifically designed to make you poop better. If you’re the person who spends a suspiciously long time in the bathroom, this could be a solution. The Tushy Ottoman positions you to help optimize the flow of you know what. It’s meant to improve your bowel health and can also relieve constipation.

It’s not difficult to use: all you have to do is position your feet on top of it, which puts your posture into a squat position. The Tushy Ottoman is available in all white or with bamboo legs on a white body. Both models are priced at $69.

Tushy Travel

If you didn’t know portable bidets were a thing, you do now. Tushy Travel is for when you’re out and about, collapsible for discretion and convenience. Another Tushy joke: it’s got TURD-gonomic grip and squeeze. The Tushy Travel features a hinged nozzle with a 3-point spout, creating a strong stream. It holds up to 11 oz of water, with no batteries or charging required.

Tushy Travel comes with a carrying case and a carabiner to hook onto your bag. This portable bidet comes in black, white, or teal for $29.

Bamboo Toilet Paper & Subscription

You might be wondering why to opt for bamboo toilet paper, instead of the regular stuff. Tushy bamboo is organically farmed without pesticides or fertilizer. Unlike trees, bamboo grows rapidly— they’re not taking away food from pandas, don’t worry. Since bamboo is sustainable, this toilet paper helps reduce your ecological footprint. On top of that, Tushy’s comes with plastic-free packaging.

Tushy toilet paper is free of BPAs (dyes, bleaches, and chemicals), and bamboo fibers make for some super soft wiping material. Tushy toilet paper is three-ply, and I looked up what ply is because I’m sure others also have no idea. Basically, ply is the number of paper layers. In other words, 1-ply toilet paper is the kind that tends to fall apart when you need it most, whereas anything two-ply and above is considered good quality.

Tushy bamboo toilet paper comes in 8 rolls for $29. I did a quick online search, and although bamboo toilet paper tends to cost more than regular toilet paper, it’s not usually this much. It’s currently sold out on the site, which has become a common theme in this Tushy bidet review. A Tushy toilet paper subscription does exist, though almost no information is provided, since it seems there is a shortage.

Bamboo Towels

Tushy’s Bamboo Bum Towels are eco-friendly, naturally anti-bacterial, and highly absorbent. They come in packs of 5, made of 100% soft bamboo fiber. They come in the natural shade of bamboo, as well as mint, for $19. Unsurprisingly, they are currently sold out.

Tushy’s anti-bacterial, anti-microbial 100% Bamboo Bath Towel Set comes in natural bamboo or white for $125. The white towel set is currently sold out, but natural bamboo is up for grabs. Each set comes with:

  • Two large bath sheets
  • 2 bath towels
  • 2 hand towels
  • 4 washcloths

Tushy Merch

Tushy Bidet Review 10

Tushy sells some pretty funny unisex t-shirts, like this Clean Butt Club Scout one in mustard yellow, white, army green, and pink. It’s made of 100% combed and ring-spun cotton, lightweight and flexible. Tushy t-shirts come in sizes S to XL for $30.

On the merch page, you can also purchase replacement Temperature Knobs and Pressure Knobs for $7. There are also peach (butt) pins for $12, which are sold out.

Tushy Adapters & Spare Parts

Tushy sells a variety of adapters and spare parts for customers outside of the US. They’re inexpensive, ranging between $2 to $6

Tushy Reviews From Customers

Tushy Bidet Review 11
@hellotushy

Tushy bidet reviews number in the thousands on their website. Customers appreciate that the bidets are super easy to install, work well, leave them feeling cleaner, and that they save on toilet paper. We can’t leave the Tushy bidet review there, so I ventured further into the internet for the truth, the truth, and nothing but the truth.

Reddit Tushy bidet reviews were mixed. One user got the Tushy Classic, having enjoyed its easy installation, and included this silly anecdote: “goodbye daughter wrapping her hand fifteen times with toilet paper so she ‘doesn’t have to touch anything!’”. Another user posted that he returned the Tushy bidet, as it didn’t have a high enough water pressure. Others complained about the high price tag of Tushy products.

A Tushy bidet toilet attachment review on digitaltrends.com approved of the brand; although they pointed out that it is difficult to actually determine if using more water with a bidet, versus less toilet paper, ends up being better for the environment. Bidetgenius.com recognized certain merits of Tushy, though ended up recommending other bidets in their article. Business Insider rated the Tushy favorably, though a Chatelaine review was indifferent: it’s better for the environment, but the cold water of the Tushy Classic was uncomfortable.

Tushy reviews are glowing on Amazon, with people describing it as “life changing” and “great for bums of all ages.” There was the occasional negative review having to do with Tushy not fitting on their toilet seat (we don’t know how well they followed the instructions, whether or not they have a standard toilet, etc.). Unfortunately, no matter where I went, I couldn’t find a Tushy portable bidet review.

Our Verdict on Tushy

Tushy Bidet Review 12
@hellotushy

This is the part of the Tushy bidet review where we give our two cents. Tushy has great customer feedback, both on and off their site. So there’s a pretty good chance you’ll enjoy it, and if you don’t, they have a Booty Bliss Guarantee (see our FAQ section). Tushy is dedicated to helping the environment and getting toilets to third world communities, ass-pirations that are definitely good in our books.

On the other hand, Tushy is pretty pricey compared to other bidet attachments on the market (the general range for these is $30-$70). A definitive area that Tushy beats their competitors in, however, is aesthetics. Tushy bidets are sleek and attractive, where many competing products on the market are focused on function. I also found it pretty annoying that many of their products are sold out, but that does mean that they’re in demand.

We can’t make your decision for you. To Tushy, or not to Tushy is up to you. We gave the facts, but ultimately only you know what’s best for your wallet, and your butt.

Where to Buy Tushy

Tushy Bidet Review 13

Tushy bidet products can be ordered through their online store at hellotushy.com. Tushy Amazon products are the real deal (though limited), we checked. Sometimes people like to sell fake products on Amazon—but in this case, as long as you check that it is made by Tushy, you’re good.

FAQ

Tushy has an extensive FAQ section that we can’t fully include in this article. Here are the highlights:

Tushy Set Up

Installation Support

Send inquiries on installation help, spare parts, and troubleshooting to [email protected]; installation instructions for each model can be found on their website. Attachment and removal of a Tushy can be done easily in 10 mins after initial installation. Tushy can only be installed on the left side (facing the toilet).

No Easy Access to a Water Supply

If you have a flushometer toilet that doesn’t provide external access to a water supply, you can connect Tushy to your sink’s water supply, if your sink is within 9 ft of your toilet (otherwise you have to purchase a longer tube).

US customers need a 3/8″ US metal adapter, and EU customers need a 3/8″ European adapter. For other regions, contact [email protected].

Tushy Toilet Compatibility

Contact [email protected] to find out if Tushy models are compatible with your toilet. Tushy can be installed on standard toilets in most countries, though you may need a different size adapter. You only need 11” from the centerline of your toilet for a Tushy to fit into any tight space.

How to Use a Bidet

This Tushy bidet review wants to be as helpful as possible:

  1. Do your doo: start off by sitting down and doing your business. A bidet is also recommended for women to “wash [their] lady parts after intercourse.”
  2. Wash your butt: adjust the pressure from the butt spritz to power wash. Let the water do the work hands-free, spraying away for 30-60 seconds.
  3. Pat dry: pat your booty dry with toilet paper or a towel.
  4. Wash your hands: pretty self-explanatory.

Toilet Paper Subscription

Our Tushy bidet review found that their toilet paper subscription is currently unavailable. If you already have a subscription, contact [email protected] for address changes, frequency changes, and cancellations.

Tushy Shipping Policy

Tushy ships throughout the US, Canada, and internationally. Customers outside of the US are charged an additional shipping fee, which is calculated automatically at checkout. Tushy is delivered in a discreet, unmarked box, so you don’t have to worry about any nosey neighbors.

If you are outside of the US or Canada, Tushy recommends that you contact [email protected]. They make sure to send the appropriate fittings for your country’s plumbing, so you don’t run into any troubles when installing Tushy.

Expected standard shipping times are provided each time you browse their website. The site also includes a 2-3 day priority shipping option. This cost would depend on your country, and is provided at checkout. You can track, modify, cancel, or change your order by contacting [email protected]

Tushy Return Policy & Warranty

Tushy has a 60-day risk-free return policy through [email protected]. Note that sale items, towel and toilet paper products, and Tushy merch are not eligible for returns.
