About Bombas Slippers

Bombas Slippers Review

If you’re at all familiar with Bombas, then you know that there’s something special about their socks, tees, and underwear. Totally new to the brand? Here’s a crash course:

Bombas was founded in 2013 by Randy Goldberg and David Heath after they found out that socks are the #1 requested item in homeless shelters. In other words, this company was founded on the premise to do good and give back, and ever since day one, they’ve donated one pair of socks for every pair bought. They’re up to 75M donated pairs.

If that’s not enough to convey this brand’s scope, their 679k+ social community might. A quick web search will also tell you they’ve been featured by just about every notable media outlet there is, including names like Good Housekeeping, New York Times, and USA Today

You can find Bombas at top retail destinations like Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue, and in general, they have an incredible reputation among the media and with customers. So where do their slippers fit in and what makes them so unique?

At first glance, you might think Bombas Slippers are just your average slipper socks, albeit very colorful and cozy ones.

The real draw of their slippers (just like their socks, underwear, and t-shirts) is in their construction, materials, and features. It’s no secret that quality products last longer, fit better, and are more comfortable—and that rings true for Bombas Slippers.

Like their socks, Bombas designed their slippers to fit and feel better, merging the casual comfort of socks with the structure and safety of a shoe-style slipper. With grippy silicone soles, cushioned footbeds, and a form-fitting feel, they transform the humble slipper sock into a next-level lounge shoe.

In this Bombas Slippers review, I’ll tell you all about my experience with the Gripper Slippers and precisely why I love them so much. I’ll also cover additional customer feedback, promotions, FAQs, and more. Kick your feet up and let’s start with the highlights.

Who Am I

Bombas Slippers Review

I’m Nea, and I always have cold, clammy feet. TMI? Trust me, it’s relevant.

I adore slippers, I wear slippers…but slippers and I have a complicated relationship—mainly because they make my feet super clammy. So clammy, in fact, that I have to take said slippers off just to air my feet out. And what do you think happens then? My feet get frigid, I put the slippers back on, and then the cycle continues.

Now that you know a bit more about my slipper struggles, where do the Bombas Slippers come in? Without giving too much away just yet in this Bombas Slippers review, they put an end to those struggles, and for that, I’ll be forever grateful.

It can get pretty cold where I live, so slippers aren’t just a preference, they’re an essential. I’m looking for the kind that’s comfortable without being clunky, as well as secure, non-slip, and safe for the couch.

The Bombas Slippers sure sound like they fit the bill. But will they live up to the hype? I’ll walk you through my experience with the Gripper Slippers ahead, starting with the very first step: shipping.

Shipping

Bombas Slippers Review

My Bombas order arrived in about 10 days after placing it online. That’s pretty standard for where I live in Canada and most of the products I buy from US companies usually take about the same time when shipped standard.

Receiving & My Thoughts On Packaging

Bombas Slippers Review

My Bombas Slippers arrived in a basic mailer package. Since they’re slippers, they don’t require any additional cushioning, but they did come in a fabric drawstring travel bag, which was a nice added touch.

I like it when brands have minimal packaging, and Bombas actually uses 100% recycled materials for their packaging

As a Certified B Corporation, they’re dedicated to doing better and score a 96.6/100 B Corp score. For reference, the average B Corp has a rating of 50/100.

My First Impressions

Bombas Slippers Review

When first pulling my Bombas Slippers out of their travel bag, I immediately loved the color. I chose a cobalt blue and purple combination that’s pretty darn cute. The slippers were folded and flat, which means they travel well. I mean, who has space for another pair of shoes in their carry-on? I’m giving Bombas points right off the bat for this feature.

At first feel, I was also a fan of their material. The exterior knitted fabric feels durable while the fuzzy material on the inside was incredibly cozy. Then I put them on. Scroll down to my Bombas Slippers review to see what happened next.

Bombas Slippers Review

Bombas makes three kinds of Gripper Slippers: sherpa-lined, cable-knit, and the traditional design. All have the same slipper-sock fit and have silicone grips on the bottom. I tried out the traditional Women’s Gripper Slippers. You’ll read all about my experience with them next.

Bombas Gripper Slippers Review

I received a complimentary pair of the Women’s Gripper Slipper in size M in Moon Lagoon Bristol Blue. Packed in a fabric travel bag, these slipper-sock hybrids have a super unique shape and look like little booties.

When putting them on, I enjoyed the soft brushed lining on the inside and immediately felt the cushion underfoot. I own other sock slippers that don’t have a cushion and let me tell you, it makes a big difference!

Walking around my wooden floors, I didn’t have any sort of slippage, and I liked that they felt secure and fitted on my foot. Unlike clunky shoe-style slippers, these gave me the comfort of socks but still felt secure.

I’ve read that the Gripper Slippers do shrink about a ½ size in the wash, so just keep that in mind when shopping. They come in sizes XS-L for women and M-XL for men. They also come in 8 cool colors for women and 6 colorways for men that keep things fun while lounging.

Something else that struck me about the Gripper Slippers is their fold-flat design. This means they’re easy to store in a drawer or pack for a trip, and if you are traveling, that fabric bag will come in handy.

My favorite part about the Bombas Slippers is what they’re made of. The mix of acrylic, nylon, and wool with a rayon, polyester, and spandex lining makes for an incredibly comfortable slipper.

After wearing these for a few hours, I also found that this fabric blend was highly breathable, and while my feet felt snuggly, they also felt cool. That’s super rare for any kind of slipper. Well done, Bombas. You can get your own pair for $45.

While I didn’t try the Cable Knit Gripper Slippers or the Sherpa Lined Gripper Slippers, they ring in at $48 and $50, respectively.

What I Think About Bombas Slippers

Bombas Slippers Review

When I first put on the Bombas Gripper Slippers, I thought they were pretty simple. As I wore them around the house and while lounging, I grew a deep love for these cozy creatures. I’m pretty much obsessed with them now and realize why they have over 14,500 reviews

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, these aren’t your average slippers. While they might appear simple at first, a lot of design has gone into their construction, fit, and feel.

Though Bombas isn’t the first company to make slipper socks, I think that their slippers are different from any I have ever tried. What did I like about them so much? See the next section of this Bombas Slippers review to find out.

What I Liked About Bombas Slippers

Bombas Slippers Review

It gets very cold where I live, so I always have a pair of slippers hanging around. But here’s the thing…I don’t really like shoe-style slippers. They feel too clunky to me and since I like to put my feet up, something about the whole “shoes on the couch” concept stops me from truly relaxing.

I really like that Bombas Slippers are sock-style but substantial enough to feel like real slippers

Even though they’re socks, they have a thick cushion on the bottom so they’re more comfortable than socks are and they’re definitely cozier. This cushion feels like heaven to stand on, which means they were very comfy when standing to cook in the kitchen or when walking around the house.

The grip on the bottom is a nice touch too. I have wood floors that can get pretty slippery when I wear socks, but I didn’t experience any slippage while wearing these.

Perhaps my favorite thing about the Gripper Slippers though, is that while they kept my feet warm, they didn’t feel sweaty

That’s something I don’t like about my other slippers, and I actually have to take them off periodically to get some air. As you can imagine, that’s not ideal, so I really appreciate the design of Bombas Slippers.

Would I recommend this brand to others?

Bombas Slippers Review

As far as brands go, Bombas is one that I frequently recommend because of what it’s all about. I, like so many others that support them, value the fact that they donate socks to homeless shelters, but not just any cheap socks, they give back their socks, which are of excellent quality

Sure they could sell cheap products and donate the same low-quality items, but why do that when they have a superb, long-lasting product?

I’m not 100% sure if Bombas donates a pair of slippers for every pair bought, but they for sure are giving something back—so far, they’ve donated 75 million (yes, million) items to those in need.

On top of that, Bombas is a Certified B Corporation which means they abide by the highest standards for production and operations. Their packaging is recycled, their labor is ethical, and they use sustainable fabrics throughout the line.

Who Are Bombas Slippers For?

Bombas Slippers Review

Bombas Slippers are for anyone who wants a better kind of slipper. When I say “better kind,” I mean as altruistic as they are adorable and as snuggly as they are smart. If regular slippers are either too hot for you or constantly fall off your feet, I think you’ll like these.

Bombas Slippers Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Bombas Slippers Review

You’ve read my Bombas Slippers review, but what about other opinions? This section is dedicated to feedback from other sources to help you the full picture of what the Gripper Slippers are really like. Let’s check out the reviews on the brand’s site first.

On Bombas.com, the Gripper Slippers have a 4.6/5-star score among 14,559 reviews. Most shoppers say they are “high quality” and leave brief but helpful comments.

Well constructed. Comfortable. And warm,” wrote one in their Bombas Slippers review. Another customer said, “They are so comfortable I got a pair for Christmas and brought another so I can always have a clean pair if I need to wash them.”

The Cable Knit Gripper Slippers have a 4.7/5-star score among 1,176 reviews and the Sherpa Lined Gripper Slipper boasts a 4.7/5-star rating and 3,602 reviews. It’s worth mentioning that these ratings apply to both men’s and women’s styles.

On Reviewed.com, a tester tried out the Gripper Slippers. Here’s what they had to say about them:

“The slippers were cozy, kept my feet warm, and held their shape throughout weeks of testing. I’d recommend them to anyone who wants a slipper that feels more like a sock and less like an Olympic event while walking.”

Like the folks at Reviewed, I too like that I don’t have to fear slipping and sliding around my wooden floors. I also like that I don’t have to grip them with my toes to walk. They’re just like socks, so my feet can really relax.

A Bombas Slippers review on Refinery29 put the Cable Knit Gripper Slipper to the test. “Anyone who’s a sock and/or slipper snob will feel the quality in these as soon as they slip ’em on,” wrote the reviewer.

Quality is definitely one of the most common words used to describe these slippers, and I would certainly agree. Overall, there’s an abundance of awesome feedback for these cozy little guys.

Bombas Slippers are $45 per pair, and though at first glance they might seem simple for that price, like everything else this brand makes, a lot of smart design went into their creation.

These aren’t your average slippers. They won’t fall off your feet, they won’t cause you to slip, they’re breathable, lightweight, and cushioned. If you want to get them for less, check out the next section of this Bombas Slippers review.

FAQ

Bombas Slippers Review

Who is Bombas owned by?

Randy Goldberg and David Heath own Bombas. They launched the brand in 2013 after discovering that socks were the #1 item requested in homeless shelters.

Can Bombas Slippers be washed?

They can! Just follow these steps:

  1. Machine wash on cold, gentle cycle
  2. Use non-chlorine bleach when needed
  3. Tumble dry on low
  4. Never iron
  5. Do not dry clean

Bombas Slippers shrink a bit in the wash. With a size 8.5 foot, my Medium pair has a bit of wiggle room that can accommodate this. If you’re on the 7.5-8 border, order a Medium instead of a Small.
