About Electric Sunglasses

Electric Sunglasses Review

When the usual high-end sunglasses are not pulling their weight, especially given the amount of money that you spend on them, then Electric is a brand you should check out.

Created to be all about functionality and unique styles that borrow from past fashions, this brand offers a shockingly complete package when it comes to sunnies.

Electric Sunglasses has 155k followers on Instagram and even more at almost 190k on Facebook. Media outlets, in particular sports media, regularly mention these sunglasses as the go-to for some athletes.

Some of these outlets include Golf Digest, Motorcycle Cruiser, Snowboarder Magazine, and Surfer Magazine.

In this Electric Sunglasses review I aim to dig deep into the brand to see if they are worth your money. I’ll go over products, customer testimonials, promotions, and any burning FAQs you might have.

Overview of Electric Sunglasses

Electric Sunglasses Review

The year was 2000 and the most fashionable choice in luxury sunglasses was from none other than Ray-Ban. Although cool, they weren’t great for athletes. It was form over function.

With that in mind, three men from San Clemente, CA decided to fill the gap by designing their own line of sunglasses that looked as cool as Ray-Ban but were more functional, especially for sports.

Starting by promoting their new designs at the SIA Snow Show, they were quickly picked up by athletes and in no time at all Kip Arnette, Bruce Beach, and Eric Crane had a successful company on their hands.

In 2008, they sold it to Volcom, with a couple of them staying around to run the company. In 2011, Kering, a Paris company specializing in luxury goods, bought Volcom. But that’s not where the story ends.

In 2012, Eric Crane returned to the company and in 2013 Bruce Beach left as CEO. Crane replaced him in the position. In 2016, Crane bought Electric Sunglasses back from Kering.

Arnette left the company in 2017. Through all these changes, this brand continued to update their technology and designs.

Before I shine a light on some of this brand’s popular eyewear, let’s take a look at what makes these active lifestyle sunglasses different from the rest:

  • Stylish, functional sunglasses
  • 100% UV protection & blocks 98% HEV blue light
  • Great-fitting eyewear
  • US company
  • Financing available with Klarna

Electric Sunglasses Men Review

With about 25 styles in the Electric Sunglasses Men’s line, there is something for every man and every occasion.

They come in one of three high-quality materials including lightweight Grilamid™, Mazzucchelli M49® bio acetate, and wireframes made of surgical grade stainless steel. All the sunglasses have a lifetime warranty and come with a microfiber bag for cleaning lenses.

All of this brand’s shades are made in Italy. Up ahead, my Electric Sunglasses review will take a look at a couple of the best-sellers in their men’s line.

Electric Dude Sunglasses Review

Borrowing from the 70s and their love of big glasses, the Electric Dude Sunglasses are not so large as to be clownish, but they do provide great coverage and come in four shades full of personality.

These colors are matte black, after midnight, matte tort (tortoiseshell print), and our favorite, the darkside tort (half black half tort). Their square-shaped frames are made in grilamide resulting in a lightweight pair of sunglasses.

The lenses are available in the brand’s standard melanin-infused or polarized. You’ll be a cool dude in these shades for $160.

Electric Knoxville Sunglasses Review

Want to be as cool and stylish as Jason Momoa? Muscles and looks aside, the Electric Knoxville Sunglasses are for you as his go-to eyewear whether relaxing or on his motorcycle. He even collaborated with the brand on a Momoa signature Knoxville

Reminiscent of the original Ray-Ban style, these sunglasses are made of molded grilamide making them sleek, lightweight, and durable.

The Knoxville sunnies are great for all-day and all-season wear. Designed to fit comfortably, they come in two sizes (regular and XL) and a variety of colors in both matte and gloss.

These Electric sunglasses are a mix of past and present to give you a timeless look with superior flexibility and durability. You can slide on a pair of Electric Knoxville Sunglasses for $160.

Electric Sunglasses Women Review

While there are fewer options than the men’s line, the Electric Sunglasses women’s collection still has a great selection of styles.

All Electric sunglasses come with melanin-infused lenses. Melanin is a natural sunblock produced by our bodies. Infused into the lenses so it won’t flake off, it blocks 100% of UVA/UVB as well as 98% of HEV blue light.

Some styles can be upgraded to polarized which are especially good for water sports. This Electic Sunglasses review check out a couple of their best-selling women’s shades.

Electric Crasher Sunglasses Review

With thick frames, the Electric Crasher Sunglasses are the embodiment of Buddy Holly with a range of colors that he could only have dreamt of. The chunky rectangular frames are handcrafted from M49 bio-acetate making them durable, flexible, and variable in color. Polarized lenses are also available .

With the choice of two sizes, you can crash the party in style with these sunglasses for $200.

Electric Oak Sunglasses Review

Like their namesake, the Electric Oak Sunglasses are big, beautiful, strong, and help keep the sun off of us. With a frame made from bio acetate, it has a 5-barrel hinge and heat tempered wire temple inserts so they can last a long time.

The frames have a slightly rounded shape with large eyeholes for a large, yet subtle, style.

Available in a range of black and tort frames, this eyewear also comes in a clear frame for a truly stylish look. Bask under the shade of these oaks for $250.

Who Is Electric Sunglasses For?

Electric Sunglasses Review

Writing this Electric Sunglasses review, I feel that these sunglasses are for anyone looking for comfortable, functional, and stylish shades.

They are all great-looking and functional sunglasses but some are particularly good for the glare off water for people who spend their days around or on it. They are not so expensive as to be restrictive for anyone looking to get their hands on a new pair of sunnies.

Electric Sunglasses Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Electric Sunglasses Review

So, as you’re reading this Electric Sunglasses review you’ve heard what I have to say, but what about what their customers have to tell us about the brand.

With a lifetime warranty and made from superior materials, Electric Sunglasses last, making them worth the price. On Amazon where the Knoxville got 4.6/5 stars over 140 reviews, this customer, after a little joke, explains:

“Don’t buy these I don’t want you to copy me 🙂 Optical quality is top notch I haven’t been able to find another pair that I like more Been wearing Electric for over a decade and can’t say enough about their quality If you take cae of them they will last. I still have older pairs that I keep in my truck as back ups () that are probably 10+ years old.”

With any cheaper brand, this customer would have likely lost them long before 10 years, but when you pay over $150 on a pair of shades you tend to keep a better eye on them – pun intended. Long-lasting is great, but if they don’t look and fit well…

Fortunately, as this Electric Sunglasses review on BackCountry explains, this isn’t the case with this brand. They say: “Clarity and Style These bad boys are great! Clear lenses and the pattern is awesome! They also hold on to my head very snug and sit great on my nose without any discomfort whatsoever.”

I’m also happy to see that as a whole, customers on BackCountry gave the brand 4.5/5 stars from over 14 reviews.

When comparing these shades to other high-end brands, it is the timeless styles and the all-day comfort that make them stand apart. This Electric Sunglasses review with 5/5 stars on US Outdoor chose the brand for something different from Oakleys and Ray-Bans. They tell us their experience:

“I decided to go with something not so mainstream and a little cheaper. When I first put the Knoxville’s on I instantly felt cool. They are really comfortable on my face and aren’t bulky. They feel light, but at the same time really sturdy and tough. They kind of have a futuristic classic style to them that is pretty rad and look different than a lot of shades out there.”

This Electric Sunglasses reviewer on Evo, which as a whole had 15 reviews and a telling 4.9/5 stars rating, goes everywhere at any time of day with a pair of this brand’s shades. They stand out and are of exceptional quality and comfort. Here’s what they wrote:

“People ask, “where did you find those glasses? Chrome look is incredible in the sunlight, and they go with a wide range of fashions, from the golf course to dinner, or the lake. Fantastic quality and fit, and they turn heads, want a pair of sunglasses no one else is wearing try these!!!”

Once you go Electric Sunglasses, you may find that no other brand will do. High quality, comfortable fit, exceptional sun and light blocking properties, and unique, yet timeless styles may just spoil you, as this customer on the brand’s website says:

“Electric surpasses so many details that go with a pair of sunglasses and I will never wear any other brand again. The Dude is flawless with the 1970 retro look and fit, perfect for any occasion for me,() Electric STANDS OUT. 10/10 highly recommend to any friend or passerby, and will definitely be purchasing other pairs of Electric in the near future. Quality matters. ⚡️

Anyone can agree that quality does matter. From the product ratings on the shades covered in this article, their customers also agree. Check out these high ratings:

  • Electric Dude – 113 reviews – 5/5 stars
  • Electric Knoxville – 715 reviews – 5/5 stars
  • Electric Crasher – 444 reviews – 4.4/5 stars
  • Electric Oak – 67 reviews – 5/5 stars

To sum up, I’ve seen a lot of great reviews and no complaints on Trustpilot or the Better Business Bureau. The lifetime warranty and timeless styles mean that their customers are enjoying Electric Sunglasses for years upon years.
