About Field & Stream

Field and Stream Review

Oh, the great outdoors. The fresh air, the still lakes, the majestic mountains, and yes, the bountiful fields and streams. With inspiration such as that, is it any wonder where Field & Stream got their name?

Is it also any wonder as to what they sell? I’m talking premium equipment for hunting & shooting, fishing, camping, and boating, but also so much more.

This is the place to go when you want to immerse yourself in nature on your terms. And I’m not the only one who thinks so. Field & Stream is not only a retailer of outdoor goods, but it’s also a resource for all things nature. That’s why they have attracted over 26k Instagram followers and nearly 200k Facebook followers.

Come with me on my journey through this Field & Stream review where I’ll climb through their products, kayak around their prices, see what fellow outdoorsmen have to say about the brand, and even fish up some promotions.

“The Soul of the Total Outdoorsman” is not something you can say lightly, but it really is what Field & Stream strives to embody. So before we look at their products, it’s important to consider their roots and how this iconic brand came to be.

Field & Stream is like your grandfather who knows how to get things done. He’s rugged and worldly, and the only thing stopping him from living in the wilderness (successfully, I might add) is his love for imparting knowledge and wisdom.

This brand got its start all the way back in 1895 as a magazine about everything hunting and fishing.

Not only that, but they have always been staunch conservationists who recognize that we can only continue enjoying nature if we can coexist with it and nurture it. They have pushed for stricter hunting laws and have founded or been a part of numerous conservation organizations.

Having fully transitioned to an online platform in 2021, Field & Stream is still telling great stories and providing useful tips to the newest generation of outdoors enthusiasts. I think it’s safe to say that they honor their heritage while also embracing the future.

Now, onto their products. The Field & Stream shop was founded in 2013 and is currently headquartered in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.

Dick’s Sporting Goods is the current owner of their shop, so you know they’re in good hands. They offer just about everything you could want to survive and thrive in the great outdoors.

Before we really dig into the meat of my Field & Stream review, let’s check out the company’s highlights:

Field & Stream Kayaks Review

What better way to take on your local waterway than with a trusty kayak by your side? Or, rather, sitting in a trusty kayak.

Regardless of how you choose to position yourself in one, this next section of my Field & Stream review features three of the brand’s most popular kayaks

Field & Stream Eagle Talon

The Field & Stream Eagle Talon 120 Kayak sounds like it’s ready to kick butts and take names. And it can, don’t get me wrong, but it’s also ready for an extremely relaxing day on the lake fishing your cares away.

With a padded seat and plenty of storage for all of your fishing gear, the pontoon design of this Field & Stream kayak means that you won’t have to worry about capsizing. Better yet, it also features two flush mount rod holders with leashes for extra security so nothing ends up at the bottom of the lake.

Coming in at 68 lbs with a length of 12’ and a width of 30”, you can grab the Eagle Talon for $385

Field & Stream Angler Kayak – Pelican Premium Pioneer

Looking for something a little lighter and more compact? Say hello to the Pelican Premium Pioneer 100XR Angler Kayak. Weighing only 43 lbs and measuring 10’ long, this kayak is small as it is mighty.

The design and size of this kayak mean that it’s more maneuverable yet still quite sturdy. This is due to the RAM-X™ PREMIUM material that performs as well as the name sounds. The Pelican is also made with your comfort in mind, as it’s made with adjustable footrests and cushioned knee pads.

All of this can be yours for $550.

What customers are saying: “I searched long and hard to find a kayak that would truly work for me…Even though it is a sit-in it is easy for me to get in and out of, and I am a 70-year-old woman. It has a comfortable camp chair-type seat, which was an absolute must. Foot positions were easy to adjust. At only 43 lbs it is a weight I can handle.” – Suzzee, FieldAndStreamShop

Field & Stream Angler Kayak – Shadow Caster

Available in a stunning and sleek camo pattern, the Shadow Caster 123 Angler Kayak is one heavy-duty watercraft. Clocking in at a whopping 95 lbs, it’s amazing how easy it is to maneuver this kayak around.

The pontoon design is reinforced with three hull layers for extra stability and strength, which is especially important since this is a sit-on-top kayak.

With a length of 12’3’’, this conqueror of the lakes can be yours for $560.

Field & Stream Products Review

Coming up next in my Field & Stream review we have three of the brand’s best-selling products. Here, I’ll cover a sensational Field & Stream gun safe along with a pair of boots and a jacket that can help you weather the elements.

Field & Stream Wasatch 64 Gun Fire Safe with Electronic Lock

The Wasatch 64 Gun Fire Safe with Electronic Lock has pretty much everything you need to know right in the name. This safe is made by Wasatch and has a sturdy electronic lock with a digital keypad and a 9V battery.

Even better, the safe is rated as 64-gun, fire, and water safe, meaning that it can withstand temperatures of up to 1400° Fahrenheit for 30 minutes and be submerged in up to 2’ of water for 72 hours without any internal damage.

Seal your essentials behind the Wasatch 64 Gun Fire Safe with Electronic Lock’s 1.5” live-action locking bolts for $1,700 or act quickly while it’s on sale and get it for $1,500.

Field & Stream Alpine Design Women’s Chelsea Casual Boots

Field and Stream Review

Fashionable and durable? Sign me up. The Alpine Design Women’s Chelsea Casual Boots combine form and function beautifully with its faux fur lining, rugged rubber outsole, and partially-recycled footbed all packaged up neatly into a stylish package.

Available in tan, this set of winter-ready Field & Stream boots can be yours for the sale price of $48 (regularly priced at $100).

What customers are saying: “Lots of cushion for comfort, doesn’t cut my ankle like other boots do, and I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on them.” – Sussanax, FieldAndStreamShop

Field & Stream Wolverine Men’s Bucksaw Bonded Shirt Jacket

We can call it like it is now and shorten “shirt jacket” to “shacket”. Everyone’s cutting corners and saying it. Wolverine, however, isn’t cutting corners when it comes to its shacket designs.

The Wolverine Men’s Bucksaw Bonded Shirt Jacket is a Field & Stream flannel hooded jacket that you can rely on. It has a polyester microfleece lining to keep you warm and an extended tail to keep the wind out.

You can grab one (or two, or three, I’m not here to judge) Wolverine Men’s Bucksaw Bonded Shirt Jacket right now for $60 or get it at its regular $70 price tag.

What customers are saying: “Very happy with the purchase. Comfortable and very warm.” – Bc51, FieldAndStreamShop.

If you’re looking for pants or hoodies to complete the outfit, BRUNT Workwear Review also offers similar apparel!

Field and Stream Review

Simply put, Field & Stream is for the nature lover in all of us. The hunters, the hikers, the campers, the anglers, and the kayakers, there are some quality products here that are sure to please.

Field & Stream Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Field and Stream Review

No Field & Stream review would be complete without taking a look at what its customers have to say about the brand and their products. Starting off on the brand’s website, here are the ratings for some of the items I covered in my review:

  • Pelican Premium Pioneer 100XR Angler Kayak: 4.6/5 stars based on 37 ratings
  • Alpine Design Women’s Chelsea Casual Boots: 4.4/5 stars based on 41 ratings
  • Wolverine Men’s Bucksaw Bonded Shirt Jacket: 5/5 stars based on 1 rating

It’s safe to say that the numbers are very complimentary, but let’s zoom in on some actual customer testimonials. Here’s one Field & Stream review for the Pelican Premium Pioneer 100XR Angler Kayak:

“Super happy with this purchase we’re newer to kayaking and wanted to get out on the water and this has been the perfect choice. Very easy to maneuver, feels stable, and moves nicely through the water. Light enough for one person to move them around and load in the truck.”

Here’s a very succinct review for the Alpine Design Women’s Chelsea Casual Boots that echoes that positivity: “Look fabulous, feels fabulous, and will last. Great boots.” Sometimes all you need are 9 words to describe how great something is.

I could sit here on the Field & Stream review page all day but that won’t give us the bigger picture. With that in mind, I went over to the brand’s Facebook page to check things out. Here, they have a score of 3.7/5 stars based on 33 ratings.

One thing I couldn’t help but notice is that many of the reviews spoke about stellar customer service. Whether in-store or online, it seems that Field & Stream has really focused on making its customer experience as fun and smooth as possible. Major brownie points to them for doing so.

Lastly, if you’ve ever wondered “is there a Field & Stream near me?” and you happen to live near Cedar Park, Texas, then you’re in luck! Not only is there a brick-and-mortar location nearby, they even have a Yelp page.

On this location’s Yelp page, the brand has a score of 4/5 stars based on 13 ratings. Again, I saw so many instances of great customer service. To that end, check out one more Field & Stream review:

“I walked in curious about the store and the nicest, most helpful sales associate, I think her name was Ivy told me all about the history of the brand and all of the products and their features! I will definitely be back!”

It’s hard to get better than that, so good job Field & Stream.
