About Oliver Cabell Shoes
Oliver Cabell makes quality shoes crafted using the most ethical factories and materials at affordable prices. Made for men and women, Oliver Cabell blends art, craft and technology to deliver premium footwear constructed with passion. This Oliver Cabell shoes review will examine key elements of the brand and its products to assist you in making an informed purchase decision.
Overview of Oliver Cabell Sneakers
We don’t want to call Scott Gabrielson an underdog but he was an unusual fit to become an entrepreneur in the fashion industry. At the time that Scott started Oliver Cabell in 2016, he had just moved to England. In his life before Cabell, he worked for a non-profit. The reason why he was one of the most unlikely suspects is that Scott had no experience in fashion, retail or start-ups.
He’s a real example of how an outsiders eye can be of benefit because he trusted his skill for assessing balanced design and quality products as he launched the premium footwear company that would challenge the way people see things. Reflectively, Scott’s ability to look at things from a different angle, a less accustomed angle, is the very skill that allows him to make direct-to-consumer footwear that challenges the status quo.
The direct-to-consumer approach is an important aspect of Oliver Cabell. It’s the foundation that allows the company to make their shoes with the same top quality material as leading brands but because the overhead is lower, the customer puts money back in their pocket. Oliver Cabell also succeeds as a popular brand because they combine old school techniques with innovations in technology. All this, without the markups. The mission of the company is to create “perfect, timeless footwear.”
- Quality shoes crafted of materials from Spain, Italy, Germany and England
- Direct-to-consumer footwear cuts costs
- Combining old techniques with innovation
- Variety of colours and styles in boots and sneakers
- Kits and tools available to care for footwear
- International orders may experience heavy duties and delays
- Lots of complaints on Trustpilot

In our Oliver Cabell shoe review, we will examine some best sellers including the Low 1 Sneaker, the Gat Sneaker, the SB1 Boot and the Wilson Boot. Don’t let your search stop there!
Low 1 Sneaker – White
If you thought it was an oxymoron to stand out when you’re plain, you haven’t come across the Oliver Cabell Low 1 White for $188. Hand stitched in the Marche region of Italy, you’ll treat yourself to luxurious side of basics with buttery Italian calfskin leather and the Margom outsoles of these iconic low-top silhouette hand crafted Oliver Cabell white sneakers. Yes, that’s a delightful mouthful! The footbed is Italian calfskin with molded in-soles and even the laces are made of Italian cotton. You’ll toss all the stranded keds lying around your front hallway.
Gat Sneaker – White
Looking to upturn the standard for sneakers? Try the Oliver Cabell Gat for $193; it’s the athletic trainer destined to stop a cocktail party in its tracks. The retro German inspired shoe is made with luxury materials and a detailed process. You’ll know it too because it comes in a branded box with a cotton dust bag, so that you can walk through the slush in your rubbers and change into your pristine sneakers at the door.
According to our Oliver Cabell review, the leather and Suede is sourced from Veneto, Italy and Spain. You still want to get things done while looking good, which is made possible by the durable Italian 70 Shore A rubber sole. In this shoe the details count and elements like the vegetable tanned leather lining or Italian waxed cotton laces make the difference.
SB 1 Boot – Black Roughout
This top seller for men is where an old classic meets new and hip for $228. The classic lace up service boot is combined with an ankle boot pattern that is sure to find its station at the door entrance. You can mix and match these boots to chinos, jeans, or suit pants, dressing your look up and down as you see fit.
The boots are made to withstand everyday life, which is why they are constructed with a resole-able Blake Stitchdown and are constructed with a custom water-resistant anti-slip studded rubber outsole from England. They’re versatile and comfortable lined with vegetable tanned leather from Venice, Italy, a foot forming midsole and a molded insole that is removable so that you can replace it with orthotics, should you choose. The boots have the little details which make them stand out, too, like premium Italian leather laces and vintage brass eyelets sourced from Spain.
Wilson Boot – Waxed Rustic
The Wilson Boot – Waxed Rustic is a classic boot that never goes out of style. For $238, the boot is a reinterpretation of the SB 1 pattern. The innovation and elegance of the Wilson Boot is the product of a partnership with the famed leather tannery Charles Stead and what results is a waxed full-grain, completely water-proof upper that stands the test of time.
The construction of your boot counts a great deal. The interior affects not only the comfort of your foot but the way you sweat, breathe and move. The exterior of the boot has to stand up to the elements and your sense of adventure and ambition. The Wilson Boot is a fierce contender for meeting these criteria with a combination of beautiful leathers and metals sourced from Spain, Italy, Germany and England. Our Oliver Cabell shoes review brought home the message that the company searches around to source the best materials to create quality footwear. It’s a good feeling to know that your boot was hand stitched in Albacete, Spain.
Oliver Cabell Womens Shoes Review
What if your sneaker could dress you up instead of dressing you down? In our Oliver Cabell shoes review we found that there is something special about the women’s sneakers. In white, black, nude and alloy they balance feminine and sporty, elegant and down-to-earth. What more could you ask for! Sneakers range from $185 – $198 and while we’ll be featuring the two best sellers -the Low 1 Sneaker – Nude and the Rennes Sneaker – Nude – you should check out the others too!
Low 1 Sneaker – Nude
Your first ballet slippers were probably nude and maybe some of your baby doll’s dresses too. When you see these sneakers for $188, you’ll wonder why you left the colour behind! We studied the Low 1 in our Oliver Cabell sneakers review and found that it is handcrafted in the Marche region of Italy—maybe that’s why there’s something so special about them. The low-top silhouette is coupled with buttery Italian calfskin leather.
Don’t be duped by the girly appearance though! These shoes are meant to work with a durable lightweight rubber Margom Italian outsole. You’ll be comfy enough to cover ground in the Italian calf-skin footbed with a removable molded in-sole and the Italian calfskin lining. Even the laces are Italian!
Rennes Sneaker – Nude
Sporty but chic—that’s the Rennes Nude for $188. It feels good to make contradictions but who says you need to do it out loud when you can make them with your footwear. The Renee is an athletic retro-runner silhouette reworked with luxury materials, kind of like the woman who can do it all.
The luxury is apparent in the construction of the shoes made of an Italian calf-skin footbed and a Spanish cowhide leather, with Italian waxed cotton laces. The shoes are hand stitched in Albacete, Spain but don’t let luxury fool you. With an Italian Dami rubber sole, these shoes can kick some serious butt!
Oliver Cabell Shoe Care Review
When it comes to any shoe, but especially beautiful shoes, shoe care counts. In our Oliver Cabell shoes review, we learned about all of the elements and tools that go into taking excellent care of your shoes. To help with this process Oliver Cabell has three care kits: the refresh kit fo $38, the boot kit for $33 and the essential kit for $24.
Those aren’t the only considerations you’ll have to take when it comes to keeping your shoes in great condition. You may also want to purchase:
- Oliver Cabell Wooden Shoe Trees $18
- White Cotton Laces $10
- Premium Shoe Cleaner $18
- Shoe Whitener $15
- Leather Conditioner $14
- Shoe Cleaning Brush $14
The Refresh Kit will have your shoes in tip-top condition for $38. The kit includes:
- 6.75 oz Sneaker Cleaner
- Shoe Cleaning Brush
- 1.69 oz Shoe Whitener
- White Cotton Laces
When you’re putting the kit to use, begin by cleaning the shoe with the premium shoe cleaner and brush. The best way to release the shoe whitener is to press gently against the shoe. Work it in by making circular motions against the surface of the shoe. Let your footwear air dry and repeat as needed.
The Boot Kit is the fix for cleaning your boots and shoes for $33. Our Oliver Cabell shoes review emphasized the contents of the Boot Kit:
- 6.75 oz Sneaker Cleaner
- Shoe Cleaning Brush
- 45 ml Leather Conditioner
To clean your shoes up with the kit, clean the shoe using the Premium Shoe Cleaner and Brush. Next Air dry your shoes. Once they’re dry, apply conditioner with a soft cloth or sponge. Remember—apply it evenly. Let the leather absorb the leather conditioner for five minutes. Voila! Good as new.
Oliver Cabell Shoes Review: What Do Customers Think?
We took customer reviews into careful consideration when collecting insights for our Oliver Cabell shoes review. The truth is, after the hype we felt with the beautiful look and quality of the footwear, we were discouraged by some customer reviews. Customers were agitated by duty fees and poor customer service. Shipping was prolonged and an overall disheartening e-commerce experience.
We didn’t let our hopes down though and when we continued investigating, some of our suspicions were confirmed. You can’t source materials from Spain, Italy, Germany and England to make eye-catching footwear and fall flat completely. As it turned out, customers loved the quality of the shoes, the design, look and fit. One customer said it was the best footwear they had ever seen for the price. There were even some contradictions to the review of customer service with the happier customers finding the team accommodating and quick. If you can manage to stay even through some process glitches, you’ll be getting your hands on a truly beautiful pair of shoes. Our Oliver Cabell shoes review concludes—go for it!

I have 5 pairs of OC Low 1’s, shipped to my cousins address in the US, then he shipped it to me here in the Philippines. Now after the lockdown in June I ordered a pair of Low 1 Essential set ( shoe, shoe tree, brush and cleaning solution). Now DHL and Customs here in the Phils. has flagged/held onto my order because (based on the shipping manifest they gave me), each and every item breakdown (shoe, shoe tree, cleaning solution and brush) has a value of $188, the packages content has a total value declared by the shipper (oliver cabell) as $752. Sent more or less 10 emails and still no reply from OC’s customer service.
I am genuinely disappointed by Oliver Cabell brand and I wanted to share my experience with purchasing their products.
We were looking for some boots on the Black Friday sale and we discovered this Oliver Cabell brand that was claiming to be SUSTAINABLE, ECO FRIENDLY and ETHICAL- everything we look for in a brand! We were really enthusiastic about our discovery and we started sharing this page with our friends that they can also order. The boots were produced in Spain and we live in Austria and we didn’t expect any issues with delivery, the shipping was free and the store was offering some Black Friday discount.
FIRST- We hadn’t received the boots for a month. Only when we received yellow post note we found that they were kept by Austrian customs with a charge of 75 euro to get them delivered.
SECOND- We spoke to customer services and they explained that this was in the small print of their website. And also that it could incur a fee if they were to be returned. They offered us: 1) A refund minus 75 euro fee or 2) to void the fee and send another pair (because sometimes customs miss assessing duties and other times they catch it ??? what???)
THIRD- We called Austrian Customs and told them the whole story. They said that they can’t do much but if we decide to not collect the goods that the goods will be returned to the producer.
As their customer we were put in a situation where we lose money no matter if we decide to keep the product or return it. This decreased our trust in this company and product that they produce. They sounded as total hypocrites that don’t care for their customers or the environment (product flying several times overseas before reaching the customer) and I wouldn’t purchase the product if I was aware of that.
I felt deceived and I wanted to help others to make more informed decision.
Hopefully, someone from the Oliver Cabell will read this too and think about things that can be done to improve the customer experience and make their product more sustainable.
I had a similar experience to the previous reviewer.
Long story short – you will get charged significant import and duties if you are not in the US. And secondly, if you try to return the shoes, you will not receive your money back as they promised. Be fully aware before you purchase from Oliver Cabell.
Hi, I ordered shoes on Dec 1, 2020 which is almost 3 months ago. I neither received any order confirmation, nor did I get any reply on my emails. I still do not know whether I will receive my shoes at all. I am really annoyed and think about legal actions. What´s your experience with orders?
P.S. Living in Germany
I received a faulty shoe with a crack on the leather. I emailed them for an exchange but all I have got were pointless questions from their service rep and no progress at all for two weeks. Apparently they just don’t want to fulfil the exchange so they were just trying to put me off.
Also, never trust their BS about how premium their shoes are made. The crack on the shoe was covered in paint until it cracks open as I tried it on and stretched the leather for a bit. In other words this kind of defect are totally acceptable to them and they would cover it up deliberately, still selling the faulty shoes to a customer hoping they don’t notice (even if they do they won’t give out an exchange anyway, that’s how scammer work).
I regret for not researching more before buying from them, obviously they have already built a bad reputation and there is a reason for that. This is so bad that it feels like a scam rather than just a bad shopping experience.
