About Parks Project

Parks Project Review

The feeling you get when in a US national park is unlike anything else in this world. Sights like the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Yosemite deserve to be protected but are seriously underfunded by the US government. Overview of Parks Project

Parks Project Review

Whether you visit California, Las Vegas, Colorado, or Wyoming, if you’re looking for nature, a visit to the state’s national park will do the trick. These wonders of the world are highly trafficked by anyone longing for a dose of fresh air or a view of something truly spectacular—even if just for a moment or to snap an Instagram pic.

And since approximately 331 million people visit US state parks each year, that’s a lot of foot traffic, pressure on the natural environment, and stress for those who work there. These parks, though beautiful and natural, require quite a bit of upkeep, policing, and conservation, which small budgets don’t always allow for.

Parks Project was created in 2014 by Keith Eshelman and Sevag Kazanci to fill in the gaps. The brand partners with US national parks to help them start and finish projects that keep these natural areas clean, safe, and open.

Based in Marina del Rey, CA, the entire reason the brand came to be was to help parks. So far, Parks Project has donated over $2 million and worked with 45+ organizations.

How does the company do it? Through products that people actually want to buy, like meaningfully printed apparel that reminds you of your favorite place on earth, quality fabrics that you look forward to putting on, and fun, vintage-inspired designs.

Just ahead, this Parks Project review will adventure into the brand’s exciting collection. Before we get there, check out a little summary of its highlights.

Parks Project National Geographic x Parks Project Butterflies Hoodie Review

Clothing that makes you feel good, does good, and looks good is surprisingly hard to come by. The Parks Project National Geographic x Parks Project Butterflies Hoodie helps the organization with research and education. Plus, it looks cool too.

With a slim, vintage fit, this hoodie has boxy, dropped shoulders and is washed to give it a slightly faded look like it’s been in your parents’ closet for decades. It’s soft and comfortable, made from a cotton-polyester mix that gets even more velvety as you wash it.

Give back while you kick back in this hoodie for $72.

Parks Project National Geographic x Parks Project Butterflies Jogger Review

If you’ve got the hoodie, you may as well get the sweats. Like the sweatshirt, the Parks Project National Geographic x Parks Project Butterflies Jogger has a slim fit that cinches in at the waist and down at your ankles.

Made from the same cotton-polyester mix, these guys break down really nicely in the wash, but already have a vintage-like look to them. We love that the butterfly print is just on one leg, giving them a unique, eye-catching twist with some personality.

Contribute to National Geographic’s mission with these everyday joggers for $70.

Parks Project Good Vibes Shrooms Beanie Review

Let the good times roll in the Parks Project Good Vibes Shrooms Beanie. A fun, earthy pick for both men and women, it’s made from 100% acrylic knit with a lighthearted mushroom print.

The front is affixed with a Parks Project patch, signifying your part in helping the National Parks Conservation Association keep public parks open for the public for years to come. Pick up this cold weather adventure staple for $40.

Parks Project Shrooms Recycled Polar Trail Fleece Review

The humble mushroom is a sign of rebirth and recycling, making it the perfect fit for this particular brand and this particular fleece.

Warm and snuggly, the Parks Project Shrooms Recycled Polar Trail Fleece is made with 100% recycled polyester. This recycling helps cut down on textile waste and gives birth to a fabric that would have otherwise ended up in the landfill.

The vintage color palette of yellow, brown, and orange is reminiscent of ‘70s fashion, while the relaxed fit pays tribute to that time too. Buying this fleece means you’re helping the National Parks Conservation Association preserve public lands.

Inspire change with this ultra-soft fleece for $109.

Parks Project Mount Rainier Recycled Polar Trail Fleece Review

Cozy is an understatement with the Parks Project Mount Rainier Recycled Polar Trail Fleece. Made from 100% recycled polyester, this beautifully purple cuddly jacket is essential for early morning trail walks or chilly afternoon breezes.

With hand-warmer pockets, and an elastic waistband, this jacket is all about keeping the heat in—and since it has a roomy body, you can layer comfortably underneath.

As the brand’s signature line, you’ll find a Parks Project logo stitched on the front to rep its inspiring mission. When you buy this fleece, you’re supporting the Washington Trails Association and providing safety equipment to help Mount Rainier trails stay open.

Do good and stay warm with this pullover for $100.

Parks Project National Geographic x Parks Project Butterflies Specimens Long Sleeve Tee Review

The Parks Project National Geographic x Parks Project Butterflies Specimens Long Sleeve Tee is significant to the fact that small things can inspire big change. It’s called the “Butterfly Effect,” which isn’t just a Stephen King blockbuster, it’s a theory proposed by meteorologist Edward Lorenz that little natural changes can have an impact on our weather system.

While this long sleeve tee may seem like a pretty pick for those in love with the fluttery creatures, it also holds a deeper meaning, one that’s a symbol of what National Geographic aims to inspire.

For the tee itself, it’s designed with boxy shoulders that drop and ribbed cuffs. It has been washed and dyed to give a vintage-like feel. Made from 100% cotton, wear this tee on chilly beach nights or for an added layer on your afternoon hike.

Add the National Geographic x Parks Project Butterflies Specimens Long Sleeve Tee to your collection for $46.

Parks Project National Geographic x Parks Project Peaks Patch Hat Review

The Parks Project National Geographic x Parks Project Peaks Patch Hat is made up of five panels for a comfortable, relaxed look. In a sunset orange color, this earthy hat takes a page from the vintage playbook with a hand-stitched patch.

The patch is what makes this hat really stand out. White a glorious mountain and rising sun, the border is outlined with the organization’s defining yellow, a color that brings life and energy.

Made of 100% cotton, the back is fitted with a clasp back closure to fit heads of all sizes. Show your respect for one of the largest nonprofit scientific and educational societies in the world with the National Geographic x Parks Project Peaks Patch Hat for $36.

Who Is Parks Project For?

Parks Project Review

If you love the outdoors, have ever enjoyed the wonders of US state parks, or simply care to preserve the natural world, we think that Parks Project is a good place to shop.

Its collections for men, women, home, and outdoors are targeted at those who like to explore and spend time with those they love—whether that’s on the trail or sitting around a backyard campfire.

What Does Parks Project Donate To The Parks?

Parks Project Review

At the time of writing this Parks Project review, the brand has donated $2,046,157 to US national parks. Instead of donating a percentage of each sale, it partners with the parks—45+ conservancies to be exact—and funds projects that need help.

By doing this instead of sending over straight funds, Parks Project is able to see exactly what they’re donating to and see the difference your purchases make for the parks.

Parks Project Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Parks Project Review

Even if you’re donating to a cause, if you’re buying something, you want to be able to use it. We already think that the brand’s designs are super cool, but its quality is definitely part of the buying equation.

This part of our Parks Project review is dedicated to customer feedback that mentions the fit and feel of the brand’s apparel. First, you’ll find a few ratings for some of its bestsellers we foraged for on the brand’s site:

  • National Geographic x Parks Project Peaks Patch Hat: average of 4.9/5 stars from 60 reviews
  • Good Vibes Shroom Beanie: average of 5/5 stars from 16 reviews
  • National Geographic x Parks Project Butterflies Hoodie: average of 4.5/5 stars from 26 reviews
  • Parks of Colorado Long Sleeve Tee: average of 5/5 stars from 9 reviews
  • National Geographic x Parks ProjectButterflies Long Sleeve Tee: average of 4.7/5 stars from 13 reviews

Since it’s sweater season, we decided to take a closer look at the Butterflies Hoodie. If you’ve ever bought a high-caliber hoodie, then you know the material and cut really make a difference in the enjoyment of that hoodie. In the comments section, we found one Parks Project review that read:

I’ve never invested in a high quality hoodie before but I’m so glad I did, because not only do I love supporting the parks project, but I wear this nearly everyday it’s so dang soft!!!

Overall, people really love this hoodie for its great quality and fit. Now to get the scoop on the brand’s tees, we checked out a Parks Project review on a blog called Active Gear Review.

The post went over a few styles of the brand’s t-shirts, and overall, it said, “For the shirts themselves, they look good and the fit is right on. I have whittled my way down from my former larger self to a medium, and these fit quite comfortably. The Parks Project Tee is slightly longer which I really like.

The fit of a t-shirt is really important and shows a lot about the quality of the brand. These ones sound like they’re cut fantastically, flattering, and provide good coverage for all shapes and sizes.

The review continued, “Some shirts over time seem to shrink and almost ride up to expose the belt, belly, or proverbial plumbers crack. Not the case here.  They are soft, and have stood up to several washings at this point.

Feeling good about the fit and fabric of the brand’s apparel so far, we checked out another Parks Project review on She Explores.

The review brought up some really great points about the apparel, mainly that it’s “well-designed” and “well-intended.” Speaking of the fit, it revealed that “the women’s products are cut for women,” which is something we appreciate hearing as a lot of the items are unisex, but not everyone wants a standard, baggy fit.

In the end, we found that most customers are in love with the brand’s mission and want to support it. They’d support it regardless, but being able to do it through the exchange of quality, great-looking apparel is a big bonus.

Is Parks Project Worth It?

Parks Project Review

We love a good product with a heart. From what we’ve found out during our research for this Parks Project review, the brand is doing something noble and advocating for change through its apparel and gear and customers totally dig it.

So do we, but aside from its mission, the brand has some really quality items with attractive designs. Of course, having an interesting product makes it’s a lot easier to pull in money for your cause, so it’s not really a surprise that Parks Project is doing well and has been able to give back so much.

Want to make a difference, love the outdoors, and are obsessed with the vintage aesthetic? We think that Parks Project is worth the buy.
