About Ruby Lane

Ruby Lane Review

The thrill of thrifting often comes to a screeching halt due to disorganization. There are days when you can’t be bothered to sift through aisle after aisle of clothing, but what other choice is there?

The e-commerce market is typically focused on selling brand-new merchandise. Or is it?

Nowadays, we’ve seen an explosion of online vintage shops, such as Ruby Lane. Known for its impressive selection of antique paintings, furniture, jewelry, fashion, and more, Ruby Lane acts as your one-stop shop for one-of-a-kindables.

They’re quite active on social media, where they have 279k Facebook likes and 21.7k Instagram followers. It also doesn’t hurt to mention that they’ve been featured in a few media outlets, such as Business Wire and Reader’s Digest.

If you’re on the hunt for something old, unique, and specific, perhaps this brand can lend a helping hand. Stay tuned to my Ruby Lane review as I’ll take an in-depth look at the company, its products, customer ratings, promotions, and more to help you decide if they’re worth checking out.

Overview of Ruby Lane

Ruby Lane Review

You know what they say: another man’s trash is another man’s treasure. This bodes especially true for thrifters and antique collectors, as the vast market of second-hand items is bound to hold a few hidden gems, as we’ll see in later in this Ruby Lane review.

Given that the industry is full of thousands (if not millions) of pre-loved products, it may be difficult to sift through item after item. Tom Johnson was too familiar with the hassle, as he found himself scouring for 1950s dish plates on the internet.

Coming up empty-handed, he decided that he would carve out a place for online vintage shopping. In 1997, Ruby Lane made its official debut in Johnson’s small San Francisco flat.

For those who can’t afford to dig through their local thrift store bin, Ruby Lane offers a more dignified approach. Over the years, the brand has expanded to include art, electronics, jewelry, and other collectibles on its website.

It also features a neat auction program for customers looking to sell. Today, the brand is known as one of the oldest vintage shops to ever operate online.

They provide an organized collection of antiques, which include categories such as art, furniture, jewelry, fashion, dolls, glass, porcelain, and silver.

Unsure where to start? If so, I will feature a few of the brand’s bestsellers in my Ruby Lane review to help you get started. Before that, let’s go over some of the company’s highlights.

Ruby Lane Antiques Review

Vintage furniture offers an element of charm that newer pieces fail to provide. If anything, it’s considered a historical piece, which is why so many homeowners gravitate towards classical designs.

In this section of my Ruby Lane review, I will highlight one notable contender that’s bound to make a statement in your living space.

Ruby Lane Vintage Mahogany Wood Double Spiral Staircase Architectural Model Maquette Review

The Vintage Mahogany Wood Double Spiral Staircase Architectural Model Maquette is something you’d find at Jane Austen’s house. Stained in dark espresso, this beauty features a series of 38 cascading steps.

It’s definitely bold in design, as this furniture piece is designed to help you make that prom-ready grand entrance. Finished with 46 turned balusters for a touch of elegance, there’s nothing more to say than granting a complimentary *chef’s kiss*

Since this Ruby Lane antiques collectible is pre-used, it does come with a few minor nicks. That said, it’s definitely unnoticeable to the naked eye.

Unfortunately, the Vintage Mahogany Wood Double Spiral Staircase Architectural Model Maquette is currently sold out, but you should be on the lookout for any similar models.

Ruby Lane Jewelry Review

Is it just me, or do you associate vintage jewelry with Rose’s Heart of the Ocean necklace in Titanic? Regardless, antique accessories exude an air of charm, sophistication, and class that you can’t get with fast fashion brands. If you’re on the hunt for something one-of-a-kind, here’s a piece worth considering in this Ruby Lane review.

Ruby Lane Antique Fancy Link with T Bar Bracelet Review

The Fancy Link with T Bar Bracelet is considered the perfect example of simple yet bold. This accessory comes with a series of irregular links, as some come in small and large sizes.

Accentuated with hammered details, it offers a slightly rustic vibe if you’re not a fan of fancy jewelry. The brand has yet to disclose when this bracelet was made, but if I guessed, it’s probably during the 1920s.

Jewelry from the roaring 20s was typically angular in design. It’s slightly reminiscent of the art deco period, given its geometric aesthetic.

If you’re keen on copping the Fancy Link with T Bar Bracelet for yourself, you’ll need to contact the shop owner for pricing details.

Ruby Lane Dolls Review

There’s an air of ambivalence when it comes to buying vintage dolls. Those who watched Annabelle, Child’s Play, and The Boy know what I’m talking about.

But for those who don’t believe in the paranormal, the brand offers a curated collection of antique toys on its website. To keep things short in this Ruby Lane review, I’ll only discuss one for now.

Ruby Lane 14″ 1860’s China Fancy Hairdo China Lower Limbs Review

The 14″ 1860’s China Fancy Hairdo China Lower Limbs doll won’t win you any parenting points, but it’ll definitely make a great addition to your cabinet of collectibles.

This toy features a Victorian China lady made out of porcelain. Dressed in a pink gown with a petticoat underneath, it’ll make you yearn for the childhood you never had.

Flexible in nature, this Ruby Lane dolls collectible has movable arms and legs thanks to specific stitching. Oh, and as a bonus, it comes with a letter written by the previous owner to their aunt.

Price-wise, the 14″ 1860’s China Fancy Hairdo China Lower Limbs toy retails for a hefty $1,095.

Who Is Ruby Lane For?

Ruby Lane Review

Forget the yellow brick road of thrifting in person. Ruby Lane offers a simple and straightforward approach when it comes to buying antiques.

If you’re looking for something specific, there’s a good chance that you’ll find it on their website. From historical pieces to oddities, the brand is all about selling one-of-a-kind items.

Price-wise, I can’t provide an exact estimate for readers to reference. It depends on the chosen product, as some items can sell for an astounding $1,000+.

Ruby Lane Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Ruby Lane Review

There’s no arguing that Ruby Lane’s selection of antiques is impressive. That said, it’s quite easy to get distracted when faced with one-of-a-kind collectibles. I dug deep to see what customers are really saying about this brand and the consensus is relatively positive.

Unfortunately, Ruby Lane doesn’t showcase the total amount of reviews on its website, but you can take care knowing that there’s a significant number of them.

Most buyers agree that the brand offered an organized collection of antiques, which made it easy to find specific items. Others were quick to praise their level of customer service as well.

As one customer wrote on Ruby Lane: Ordered a vintage purse from Ruby Lane. It was even better than the picture. I love, love, love my new purchase. It arrived in about three days and it was securely wrapped and packaged. I couldn’t be more pleased.”

For more in-depth feedback, I looked at outside sources for more Ruby Lane reviews such as Sitejabber, Trustpilot, and Facebook.

Buyers carry on with their praises on these websites, as the brand appears to excel in delivery, customer service, product quality, and overall shopping experience. Here are the average ratings for each website:

  • Trustpilot: 13.4k reviews with 4.6/5 stars
  • Sitejabber: 35 reviews with 1.9/5 stars
  • Facebook: 958 reviews with 3.8/5 stars

One Trustpilot user said: “My beautiful Shirley Temple doll came in good time, taking into consideration that I’m on the other side of the world. The item was well packed and every care was taken to see that the doll arrived undamaged.”

“Great selection, found some really unique items! I love hanging out at Ruby Lane,” one Facebook user wrote.

As referenced by Sitejabber’s average score, you may have noticed that Ruby Lane isn’t free of negative reviews. Before you place an order at this online shop, I thought it best to discuss some potential hiccups in the next section.

Is Ruby Lane Legit?

Ruby Lane Review

According to a few reports on Sitejabber, it appears that Ruby Lane has some work to do with their customer service.

Some buyers stated that their representatives and sellers were unresponsive to grievances, while a couple of customers expressed that they were unhappy with their prices.

Despite all of this, you can take care knowing that the amount of bad Ruby Lane reviews pale in comparison to the number of positive ones online. This company has been operating in good standing for over 20 years. They are legit.

Is Ruby Lane Worth It?

Ruby Lane Review

Those disappointed with Etsy, Facebook Marketplace, and eBay may find some relief on Ruby Lane.

It’s relatively easy to get lost in their thousand-some selection of oddities and collectibles, as you’re bound to find something one-of-a-kind. While there are some negative testimonials online, you can relax knowing that most customers are thrilled with their purchases.

Whether you’re on a self-gift excursion or shopping for a birthday present, I highly recommend giving this brand a shot
