About Sierra

Sierra Review

Outdoor gear is the new designer wear, flaunted by celebs, billionaires, and the who’s who of media. Whether it’s a North Face vest or Patagonia jacket, these top-rack brands are popular for their quality, fit, and longevity

While you could certainly shop with these brands directly, buying their products at a discount certainly sounds more appealing, and that’s where Sierra comes in. Essentially a hub for all things outdoor, you can browse through their wide collection of high-quality merch and enjoy new items weekly.

The concept is loved by many, easily seen through Sierra’s 868.5k Facebook likes and general buzz around the web. As more of their stores open up around the nation, the discount hub for luxury outdoor gear has only grown in popularity.

Will you find something you love? By the end of my Sierra review, you’ll know. I’ll give you a rundown of the brand and its bestsellers, along with feedback, FAQ, and more, to help you make your decision.

Overview of Sierra

Sierra Review

You might know Sierra as an extension of TJX Companies, but it wasn’t always. Back in 1986, it was a catalog and a very small warehouse dedicated to making expensive labels a little more affordable

The 1980s was a popular time for mail-order brands, but it was their shift to online sales that have kept them a forerunner today. Not many “off-price retail” stores have their inventory online, and that’s because so many new products are added weekly. That’s one of the things that impressed me about this brand right off the bat.

Now, as a part of TJX Companies, Sierra stores are opening up all around the US, in a similar fashion to their Marshalls and HomeSense stores. Offering top to bottom service, from reputable brands to a kind returns policy, Sierra is out to provide the best experience.

So how much of a price drop can you expect at Sierra? Most of their items have price tags 20%-60% lower than what they’re sold for in brand stores. And because they stock more than one specific brand, you’ll get incredible variety while shopping. Of course, it doesn’t stop there. Bringing in new items weekly, you’ll always have fresh stock to browse through.

What’s next for my Sierra review? We’ll take a peek at the highlights first then check out some of their bestsellers.

Sierra Under Armour Marlin Splash T-Shirt Short Sleeve

Ever fought a marlin on a fishing line? Me neither, but I’ve heard it’s truly something. The Under Armour Marlin Splash T-Shirt Short Sleeve is a very popular design, especially among those in the fishing community.

Made from cotton-blend jersey, it has enough stretch and is light and breathable. It’s a pretty classic crew neck shirt, one you can’t go wrong with. Grab it on sale for $6 right now (MSRP $20).

Sierra Under Armour Brawler Tapered Pants Review

Sierra Review
Sierra Under Armour Brawler Tapered Pants

With a name that consists of the word “brawler,” you might be thinking these pants can take a beating. Made from sweat-wicking fabric, the Under Armour Brawler Tapered Pants can keep up with you on the court, field, or long days in the classroom.

Finished with a fleece lining, they’re comfortable for all-day wear too, tapered down from the waist for a modern look.

As for the fit, they have an elastic drawstring waist and the description says they’re for “big boys.” I take that to mean preteen, so you’ll probably appreciate that they’re easy to clean in the washing machine too. Available in sizes L or XL, get a pair for $20 (MSRP $40).

With tie dye, glitter, jewels, and light-up toe caps, what do these shoes not have? The Twinkle Toes Lights-Sparkle Rayz Light-Up Sneakers are made for girls, but really, I think anyone who likes color and sparkle can rock these.

But they’re not all about looks, these sneakers are comfortable with a soft lining, cushioned footbed, and flexible outer sole so that your kids can move and play.

Finished with stretch lacing and a touch-fasten strap, they’ll get them out of the house on Monday morning in no time. Pick up a pair in sizes 11T-2C for $30 (MSRP $60).

Sierra Carhartt 8926170002 Cooler Backpack

When I was a kid, I did everything I had to do not to carry a lunch box. Backpacks will never go out of style, so why not give your kid the Carhartt 8926170002 Cooler Backpack

Great for school, weekend picnics, or trail treks, it’s made from heavy-duty Rain Defender® fabric that’s water resistant and totally insulated inside. Carhartt is known for its durable materials, and you can expect the same kind of quality in this backpack.

I also like that the straps are contoured for easy carrying and that there are multiple pockets to divide up snacks and drinks. Compatible with a hydration reservoir this is one product you won’t want to pass up on, whether it’s for your kid or yourself. Get it for $40 (MSRP $60).

Sierra Under Armour Young Wild Jacket and Leggings Track Set Review

Sierra Review
Sierra Under Armour Young Wild Jacket and Leggings Track Set

The Under Armour Young Wild Jacket and Leggings Track Set will make you wish you were young and wild again…not that you don’t already. With a super cute fit and a ruffled hem, it’s a seafoam green color with a leopard print inner lining. Since we all know how on-trend that particular print is, your little girl will be thrilled.

Comfortable and made from the moisture-wicking, quick-dry materials Under Armour is known for, she can rock this to school or throw it on after soccer practice in the fall.

Details like an elastic waist and flatlock seams are the differences name-brand makes. Pick one up in sizes 4 or 5 for $20 (MSRP $35)

Who Is Sierra For?

Sierra Review

Sierra’s focus is outdoor gear and apparel, so a general interest in the outdoors is crucial. But even so, those looking for athletic or activewear will find a great selection of top-tier brands online and in-store.

Sierra Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Sierra Review

You’ve had a peek at some of the brands Sierra carries, and you probably know that they’re high quality. If you don’t, then take my word for it. Names like Carharrt and Under Armour are very on-trend right now, and they have been for a while.

But still, I wouldn’t consider my Sierra review complete without a section on feedback. Plus, I think it’s a great chance to get to know the brand a little better. Reviews were scarce on the official website, but since current items are consistently bought and new ones are added (the same kind of stock doesn’t sit), that’s to be expected.

For that reason, the next place I checked for feedback was Yelp. Sierra has quite a few retail stores across the US, but the one I looked into awarded the brand 4/5 stars. There were a total of 12 comments there, and one Sierra review read:

“Love this store. GREAT prices. Looked up these shoes for [$70] on Amazon and got them here for [$39.99]. Could not wait to get in the car to put them on because of the great walking support Skechers offers. Love the prices from shoes, clothes, and even dog treats.”

Other shoppers said similar things and most seem to be blown away by the prices. I think that kind of feedback will be standard for all Sierra reviews you’ll come across, so let’s see what the folks on Consumer Affairs had to say about them.

There, 107 customers gave the brand 4/5 stars just like the Yelp crowd. One Sierra review read:

“Every product I have ever bought from them (except one) was excellent quality and a real price bargain – and I have purchased hundreds of items from them. I have never had even one issue regarding shipping or exchange or return, and customer service has always been fast, friendly, fair, and efficient.”

The above review comes from someone who has been shopping with the brand for years, so it’s safe to say her testimony is fair. Here’s one final review from Reddit that I think provides another fair description of what it’s like to shop with them:

“I have gotten a few things from them and have been blown away by the quality for the money. I think most things they sell are either close-outs or factory seconds. I bought a pair of Italian hiking boots a couple of years ago and needed to go up a size. The new pair were at my door before my lazy [butt] made [it] to the post office to return the first pair.”

It seems that speedy shipping is a given when shopping with this brand, and again, no matter what you buy, it’s going to be good quality. Not every comment was stellar like the ones I’ve mentioned here, but it appears to me that Sierra goes above and beyond to make sure customers are happy with what they get.

Is Sierra Legit?

Sierra Review

While researching for my Sierra review, I made sure to keep an eye out for any red flags that popped up about this brand and I’m happy to report that none did. For good measure, I checked in with the Better Business Bureau, and while there were some complaints there, they have an overall A+ score which shows that they do a good job at handling issues.

What were the issues? Some were about returns and others were about shipping, but there weren’t any repeat issues that I believe should be of major concern. From what I can see, Sierra has a great customer service team that it’s known for.

Is Sierra Worth It?

Sierra Review

The question of the hour: is Sierra really worth it? For me, it’s an easy answer because I love outdoor apparel and saving money, and you can’t really go wrong with a store that offers you both.

While not everything that Sierra stocks is completely on-trend (much of it is last season or discontinued items), all of it is great quality and made by premium brands. I’ve also learned that shopping online with them is super easy, their shipping is fast, and their customer service is helpful. So yeah, I’d certainly say they’re worth it.

Sierra Promotions & Discounts

Sierra Review

One of the wonders about the brand I learned while writing my Sierra review is that everything is already sold at a discount. As if that wasn’t enough already, the brand also offers a clearance section for markdowns that bring the prices even lower. If you’re a first-time shopper online, when the pop-up strikes, enter your email to get free shipping on your first order.

Where to Buy Sierra

Sierra Review

The thing about shopping with Sierra is that you can find similar, if not the same, items at any of the brand stores they carry. What you won’t find there are the same prices. If you want to take advantage of those, head to sierra.com or visit one of their physical stores to shop.

FAQ

Sierra Review

Who owns Sierra?

Sierra is now part of the TJX Companies, Inc. group. Chances are you’ve probably visited one of the company’s sister stores like TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, Homegoods, or HomeSense.

Does Sierra ship internationally?

Sierra ships to all 50 states as well as the US Territories. Unfortunately, right now, they don’t offer shipping outside of those areas. See the next section of my Sierra review for more information on shipping times and costs.

What is Sierra’s Shipping Policy?

Once you pile everything you’d like to buy into your cart, you’ll have a handful of shipping options to consider when you check out. They vary depending on your total, and I’ll run you through the lot so you know what to expect.

  • Standard (5-10 business days): over $89 costs $15 and under that costs $10
  • Express (3-4 business days): over $89 costs $25 and under that costs $20
  • Expedited (2-3 business days): over $89 costs $32 and under that costs $27

Keep in mind that if you live in Alaska, Hawaii, or the US Territories, an additional $5 will be added to those shipping costs.

What is Sierra’s Return Policy?

Even though Sierra offers high-quality products for lower prices, that doesn’t mean you can’t return or exchange them. Here are the details of their return policy:

  • You have 40 days to send your items back to Sierra or 30 days if you bought them in store
  • All items must be in like-new condition
  • You must not have washed or worn the items
  • You must return them will all of their hang tags attached

If you miss the return window, you may still qualify to receive credit. To get a refund, you need to have your original receipt. If you make a return without a receipt, Sierra will issue you a non-transferable credit. To make an online return, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your account on the brand’s website
  2. Select the items in your order you wish to return
  3. Print your return label
  4. Click “Process My Refund”
  5. A credit will be issued to your account minus a shipping fee

If you use the credit issued to your account, it will be deducted from your refund amount. If Sierra does not receive the items in 10 days, they will charge your original method of payment for any items purchased with the credit.
