About Brooklinen

Brooklinen Sheets Review

As featured in Business Insider, Brooklinen offers luxury bedding, bath essentials and some of the best loungewear at accessible prices.

Brooklinen was founded by Vicki and Rich Fulop in 2014. The Fulops were inspired by having stayed in a Las Vegas hotel that had luxury bed sheets, and upon further investigation, learned that most luxury and designer bedding is outrageously priced.

They spent several months researching the industry and found a way to offer elegant, designer-level linens at an affordable price.

In this Brooklinen sheets review, I will give you an in-depth look into the brand, its offerings and finally, a navigational tool to better understand if the product is right for you.

Why You Should Trust Us

Our mission is to help you make better, more informed purchase decisions. Our team spends hours researching, consulting with medical experts, gathering insight from expert professionals, reviewing customer feedback, and analyzing products to provide you with the information you need.

Studies About Bedding Products

Investing in new bedding is a big decision. Here is some research about bedding quality, materials, and more, to help you make the best purchase decision in the end.

  1. A 2021 study evaluated the effects of different bedding systems (cotton, polyester, and silk) on sleep quality, heart rate variability, and cortisol levels upon awakening. The study found that silk bedding resulted in better sleep quality and lower cortisol levels compared to cotton and polyester bedding.
  2. A 2020 review article analyzed 7 studies to evaluate the effects of mattress firmness on sleep quality in older adults. The study concluded that a medium-firm mattress may improve sleep quality and reduce pain in older adults.
  3. This 2020 study evaluated the antimicrobial activity of bedding products containing copper. The study found that copper-containing bedding products had antimicrobial properties against a range of bacteria and fungi.
  4. This 2019 review article analyzed 16 studies to evaluate the effects of different bedding materials on allergic rhinitis symptoms. The study found that allergen-impermeable bedding (such as encasements for mattresses and pillows) may reduce allergic rhinitis symptoms.

It’s important to note that individual experiences with bedding products may vary, and not all users will experience the same benefits or drawbacks. Still, these studies provide some evidence to support the potential benefits of certain bedding products and materials.

Brooklinen Pros and Cons

In my Brooklinen sheets, I’ll examine the pros and cons of the brand for you. So slip into something cozy and let’s dive in!

Pros

  1. High-quality materials: Brooklinen uses premium materials like Egyptian cotton and long-staple cotton, resulting in a soft and comfortable sleeping experience.
  2. Variety of styles: Brooklinen offers a wide range of styles and colors to choose from, so you can find the perfect match for your bedroom decor.
  3. Easy to care for: Brooklinen’s bedding is machine washable, making it easy to keep your sheets and comforters clean and fresh.
  4. Fair pricing: Brooklinen’s prices are reasonable compared to other luxury bedding brands, and they frequently offer discounts and promotions.
  5. Good customer service: Brooklinen has a responsive and helpful customer service team that can assist you with any questions or concerns.

Cons

  1. Limited size options: Some customers have reported that Brooklinen’s bedding options are limited in terms of size, especially for larger beds like king or California king.
  2. Possible shrinkage: A few customers have noted that Brooklinen’s sheets may shrink slightly after washing.
  3. Shipping delays: Some customers have experienced longer-than-expected shipping times or delayed deliveries.
  4. Not suitable for all seasons: Brooklinen’s bedding may be too warm for some customers during the summer months or in warmer climates.
  5. Limited product range: While Brooklinen offers a range of bedding essentials, they do not sell other bedroom furniture or decor items.

Features

Brooklinen Sheets Review

For this Brooklinen bedding review, I’m going to take a deep dive into their sheets. Brooklinen sheets are intricately designed and boast superior quality. The brand’s bedding features:

  1. Long Fibers: Brooklinen sheets are made with long-staple cotton, ensuring the longest and strongest cotton fibres are used during production. The long fibers create smoother weaves, a level of quality not shared by short-staple fibers, which have more exposed fiber ends.
  2. Single Ply Yarn: Long-staple cotton is used in combination with single-ply yarn to produce threads both long-lasting and fine. In comparison, many bedsheet fibers are spun from low quality multi-ply yarns, resulting in sheets that feel thick and coarse.
  3. Finest Threads & Thread Count: With the use of long fibers and single-ply yarn, Brooklinen sheets are created with 60 and 80 count threads, regarded as the finest used around the world for textiles and cotton sheets. Brooklinen uses a 150 vertical + 150 horizontal single-ply thread count. Don’t let manufacturers fool you: a super high thread count of 500 or more often contains lower-quality cotton. These inferior fabrics are concealed with a multi-ply construction to make them appear stronger.

4 Brooklinen Bestsellers

Brooklinen Classic Core Percale Sheet Set

Its signature luxury sheet, the Classic Core Percale set is light, crisp and soothing for hot sleepers. Made with a 270 thread count and available in several colour patterns, the Classic Percale holds a subtle finish and is listed at $161 on Brooklinen’s site (down from $180).

When I took a look at reviews of the Classic Core Percale set on Brooklinen’s website, this one stood out: “I am so glad that I purchased these sheet. They are super soft and get even better as you wash them. They are so worth and fit well on my mattress. I will be buying more.”

I should note in this Brooklinen bedding review that the Classic Percale was chosen as Tuck Sleep’s Editor’s Pick in 2019. Available colors include solid white, cream, steel, graphite, and graphite and steel oxford stripe.

Brooklinen Classic Luxe Core Sateen Sheet Set

While researching for this Brooklinen bedding review, I learned that the Classic Luxe Core Sateen set is their bestselling sheet, and was rated the Best Overall Sheets to Buy in 2019 by Good Housekeeping.

The Luxe Sateen set is priced at $143 (down from $159) and is elevated from the classic option, featuring a 480 thread count and 100% long staple cotton. The Luxe Sateen set has a shinier finish compared to the Classic Percale and elevates itself with a smoothness that declares elegance.

The sheets come in shades of blue, pink, cream, and grey, as well as  multiple striped choices. And customers seem to love them even more after washing!

“The Luxe Sateen sheets are so soft and smooth. Like sleeping on a cloud. And the more you wash them the softer they get. This is the third set I bought as I felt the guest room should have sheets as fabulous as those on my own bed,” one shopper said.

Brooklinen Linen Core Sheet Set

One of Brooklinen’s more expensive options, the Linen Core Set is both casual and debonaire in appearance. Made from French and Belgian Flax, the sheets contain 100% linen and the core set goes for $233 (it’s currently on sale from $259!).

Brooklinen offers the sheets in shades of blue, beige, pink, and grey, as well as a striped option. Plus, they might be the perfect set for hot sleepers:

“I absolutely love my Brooklinen sheets. I am a hot sleeper and these sheets keep me cool and comfortable,” said another happy reviewer on Brooklinen’s site. “They start of soft and continue to get softer. Would and do highly recommend!”

Brooklinen Heathered Cashmere Core Sheet Set

The Heathered Cashmere Core Set is made with 95% cotton and 5% Himalayan Cashmere with a price point of $269 (down from $299). It is brushed for added softness, and features a diagonal weave for a unique heathered aesthetic.

Brooklinen customers seem to appreciate the extra soft touch of these luxury sheets, with one customer gushing, “These sheets feel so good. It feels like your on a cloud.”

And there’s more! The included pillowcases use “enveloped closures” that cover the entirety of a Brooklinen pillow, eliminating spillage when you’re trying to get comfortable. Let’s get cozy!

Where Are Brooklinen Sheets Made?

I found that Brooklinen products are manufactured in Canada and other countries including Portugal, Israel, Germany and India. They’re finished using Osthoff Singe machines that originated in Germany and are considered a superior method of manufacturing in the industry.

Brooklinen claims to have a production team with “over 100 years of combined experience.”

Who Is Brooklinen For?

Brooklinen products are suitable for a variety of individuals, including those who:

  • Value quality and durability: Brooklinen products are made from high-quality materials and are designed to last.
  • Appreciate comfort and style: Brooklinen offers a range of bedding and home goods that are both comfortable and stylish, making it easy to create a cohesive and attractive look for your home.
  • Want affordable luxury: Brooklinen aims to offer luxury-quality products at an accessible price point, making it possible to enjoy high-quality bedding and home goods without breaking the bank.

Overall, Brooklinen is a great option for anyone who wants to elevate their bedding and home goods experience with high-quality, comfortable, and stylish products.

Brooklinen Sheets Review: What Do Customers Think?

Now that I’ve walked you through Brooklinen’s best-selling products, I think it’s about time we take a look at some actual customer reviews.

To start, I’d like to bring your attention to Brooklinen’s overall ratings on trusted review sites:

  • Consumer Affairs: 3.8/5 from 115 ratings
  • Trustpilot: 2.5/5 from 24 reviews
  • Better Business Bureau: 1.14/5 from 7 reviews

If you look at the average ratings listed above, customers don’t seem too impressed with Brooklinen as a company. That said, those who’ve bought directly from Brooklinen’s website seem nothing but impressed with the feel and quality.

Take for example, the Classic Core Percale Sheet Set. This set has an astounding 15,600 reviews on Brooklinen’s official site, and has an average rating of 4.5/5 stars.

One 5-star reviewer gushed, “I am so glad that I purchased these sheet. They are super soft and get even better as you wash them. They are so worth and fit well on my mattress. I will be buying more.”

Unsurprisingly, the brand’s Down Comforter garnered an even more positive response from shoppers. Out of a shocking 115,163 reviews (at the time of writing this), this product averaged a solid 4.7/5 stars.

Another happy customer noted, “The comforter feels great and is perfect even for hot sleepers. This is the only comforter I’ll buy and recommend to friends.”

Keeping all that in mind, I’d love for you to shift your focus to Amazon with me, where the same Brooklinen Down Comforter had heavy sleepers head over heels:

“Love this comforter. It is light weight and seems to know just how much warmth is needed for a good nights sleep. So glad we treated ourselves to this.”

If you’re still on the fence about Brooklinen Sheets or any of the brand’s bedroom finishings, you’ll be excited to hear that even Good Housekeeping thinks Brooklinen’s luxury sheets are “actually worth the hype.”

In fact, the publication had fiber scientists put Brooklinen’s sheets to the test, and here’s what they found:

“The Classic Percale and Linen are still great buys, but the Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab recommends the smooth and soft Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Sheet Set, which held up great in our battery of tests and got high consumer satisfaction ratings.”

It’s good to know that Brooklinen’s top-rated products withstood trials in a legitimate lab, however, less satisfied customers complained about thin sheets that ripped soon after buying them and unresponsive customer service.

Dissatisfied Brooklinen customers also seem let down by the number of promises the brand makes about quality and customer service on social media, especially when they’ve had less than an ideal experiences themselves.

In other words, when it comes to buying from Brooklinen, it might be best to disregard the social media hype in order to avoid disappointment.

Are Brooklinen Sheets Worth It?

If you’re looking for a hotel style, luxurious bedding made with high quality materials, but don’t have the budget for true designer brands: then Brooklinen is a great option. It’s cheaper than direct-to-consumer bedding competitors like Parachute, and offers a wide variety of products.

Plus, the Brooklinen website is simple and brisk, offering a look at all available products and elegant pictures that give a better idea of how certain fabrics will compliment a particular room.

In terms of customer service, I’m on the fence with this Brooklinen bedding review. There is conflicting discourse online in terms of the quality of care provided by Brooklinen. Some Brooklinen reviews detail excellent service, while others leave a lot to be desired.

The bestselling Luxe Sateen and Classic Percale sheets offer a crisp, well made product with unique aesthetics for an economical rate, so it’s clear why these particular selections are the most revered.

Alternatives

If you don’t find what you’re looking for in Brooklinen’s inventory, I can suggest other options of brands that sell high-quality bedding. Here are some top picks:

  1. Sheridan Bedding: With its wide selection of products that span multiple categories—including bedroom, bath, beach, and homewares—this authentically Australian brand has a lot to offer.
  2. Nest Bedding: You’ll find a terrific selection of bedding and furniture on this brand’s site, from bed frames and nightstands to mattress protectors.
  3. Luxome Weighted Blankets: Weighted blankets integrate the same concept as swaddling: a constant pressure against the skin that imitates the comfort of the womb, naturally creating a relaxed response.

Where to Buy Brooklinen Sheets

Brooklinen Towels Review

As you’ll recall from earlier on in this Brooklinen bedding review, the brand is direct-to-consumer, so the best deals and stock are available on its home website.

You can also find select products on Amazon, but prices and availability range considerably. I highly recommend shopping on Amazon because of the inconsistency of Brooklinen customer service from their website.

Brooklinen Promotions & Discounts

In researching for this Brooklinen bedding review, I found that the brand Brooklinen offers a 15% discount for all new customers. Signing up on the Brooklinen site with your email will net you a 10% discount on some products left in your cart.

I couldn’t find a Brooklinen discount code, Brooklinen promo code, or Brooklinen coupon, but check back on their site regularly for deals.

Brooklinen sucks

Brooklinen is the worst sheets I’ve ever bought. I have the Core sheet set and duvet cover. The Core sheet sets were scratchy, uncomfortable, thin and got holes. The sewing of the duvet cover buttons was awful. The holes for the buttons gaped open and the would not stay closed. I also got holes in my duvet cover. All I can think is Brooklinen must shell out a ton of money for companies and magazines to promote their products because otherwise their favourable reviews make no sense. I now have a set of Walmart sheets and the quality is so, so much better for a 1/4 of the price.

Broolinen sheets are the shitiest sheets EVER! Linen sheets leave a mess EVERY DAY! Seriously! I had to vacuum every day! I also have regular sheets from them, worst ever. EVERY pillowcase, top sheet, bottom sheet, duvet cover have been replaced several times over the 3 years I have owned them. I have been married over 33 years. I have never had sheets get little holes all over them and pillow cases get little holes at envelope fold. I still have crap sheets I bought almost 30 years ago. I had my duvet replaced in spring, washed it, then, put on line to dry. Somehow it ripped on the line…wind must have caught and flicked it?? I didn’t complain. I put it away for summer and brought back out in fall as it got cold out. They had tiny rips, just like all the rest (except linen, they didn’t rip, just messy) in about a month. Because I have had so many replacements they say I am cut off. That’s fine with me. These sheets suck. Do not buy! Nothing but problems with them.
