About Life360

Life360 Review

Life360 helps keep your family safe. Its award-winning networking app displays real-time locations and statistics about your loved one’s driving, connecting you with roadside and medical assistance when needed. A truly all-encompassing approach to safety, the service provides identity and data protection too.

Even though the company has a reputation for its use by parents who want to keep tabs on their kids, Life360 has expanded its services over the years. It now offers tools that adults themselves can feel safe using like SOS alerts, ID theft protection, and travel planning.

When it was first launched, Life360 was a big deal being one of the more technologically-advanced location services of its time. Using 77 different technologies across its platform, luxury brands like BMW wanted a piece, integrating its services into its vehicles’ navigation systems.

Life360 can be used around the world and is available in eight different languages. With upwards of 1 million downloads each month, it’s one of the most, if not the most, popular location services to ever exist.

Even with all the buzz, it is worth noting that when using apps like Life360, prioritizing security and privacy is crucial, especially considering that Life360 is categorized as a parental control solution.

Based on a study, some advice is: to evaluate the app’s security measures, keep the app and devices updated, review and adjust privacy settings, use strong and unique passwords, be cautious of third-party access, monitor app activity regularly, and practice safe browsing habits.

The article highlights potential risks associated with parental control solutions. Therefore, it is important to exercise caution and take proactive steps to protect your data and privacy when using apps like Life360.

What can you expect to find out in this Life360 review? All of the crucial details about the brand and its services, pricing, feedback, promotions, and more. Let’s start with some background.

Pros & Cons

Life360 Review

Now that you know a little more about the brand, my Life360 review will keep on moving along. Up ahead, you’ll find its pros and cons.

Pros

  • Family Locator: Life360 allows you to easily track the location of your family members in real-time, providing peace of mind and ensuring their safety.
  • Geofencing: The app allows you to set up custom geofences, which are virtual boundaries on a map. You receive notifications when family members enter or leave these predefined areas, making it useful for monitoring children’s movements.
  • Driving Safety Features: Life360 provides driving analysis and reports, including information on speed, phone usage, and hard braking. This can be helpful for promoting safe driving habits among family members.
  • Emergency Assistance: The app includes a panic button feature that allows users to send an immediate alert to their family members in case of an emergency.
  • Communication and Check-Ins: Life360 offers a built-in messaging feature, making it easy to communicate with family members. It also allows for check-ins, where family members can share their location and status with each other.

Cons

  • Privacy Concerns: As a location tracking app, some individuals may have privacy concerns about being constantly monitored or having their location data shared with others.
  • Battery Drain: Continuous use of location services can drain the battery of your device more quickly, which may be a drawback for some users.
  • Technical Glitches: Like any app, Life360 is not immune to technical issues, including occasional inaccuracies in location tracking or app crashes.
  • Monthly Subscription: While the basic features of Life360 are free to use, there is a premium subscription option that offers additional features and benefits at a monthly cost.
  • Dependency on Internet and Location Services: Life360 requires a stable internet connection and access to location services on your device to function properly. In areas with poor connectivity or when location services are disabled, the app may not work effectively.

It’s important to consider both the pros and cons of Life360 to make an informed decision about whether it is suitable for your needs and preferences.

Crime and accidents can happen. Whether it’s a stolen identity, car crash, or dark parking lot, everyday situations become a lot less stressful when we have the right support. Life360 delivers that support, offering assistance at your fingertips.

In the next part of this Life360 review, I’ll take a look at the service piece by piece, examining and explaining each facet so you know exactly what to expect when you sign up.

Life360 Membership Review

Life360 Location Safety

The Life360 Location Safety feature is what this service is known and loved for. It’s the reason this brand was created, so a ton of tech has been poured into developing accurate location services.

Within the Location Safety feature, you can use location history to see where your loved ones have been and how long they were there in the past month, organized day-by-day.

If you’re worried about Location Safety being a little too transparent, the Bubbles feature lets you show your general location (rather than the pinpoint) for a short time. This increases privacy but still guarantees safety.

You’ll also get place alerts when your Circle arrives at their destinations and SOS with emergency dispatch that sends an alert to your Circle with your location information when needed. The crime reports feature keeps you in the know about crimes that happen in the areas you or your family visit.

Life360 Driving Safety

Giving your kids the keys comes with a lot of trust and a ton of worry. Life360 Driving Safety helps alleviate stress through crash detection, emergency dispatch, and roadside assistance features. Alerting after collisions over 25mph, Life360 will notify your Circle and send your location.

You’ll be able to see your family’s driving summary (where they went and how long) and individual driver reports (top speed, texting while driving, etc.) to keep them accountable and teach better habits. Roadside assistance is available for Gold (5 miles of free towing) and Platinum (50 miles of free towing) members only.

Life360 Digital Safety

If you’re going to monitor your physical safety, it’s a good idea to keep a check on your Digital Safety too. This feature delivers data breach alerts and offers ID theft protection.

It also helps you stay on top of credit fraud and prevent theft by monitoring your credit. If a theft does happen, Life360 offers $25K in reimbursement to Gold members and $1M to Platinum members.

Life360 Emergency Assistance

Bad days are part of what makes up a life, but it’s the help we have on those days that makes all the difference. The Life360 Emergency Assistance feature offers stolen phone protection ($250 for Gold members, $500 for Platinum members), roadside assistance, and free towing (5 miles for Gold members, 50 miles for Platinum members).

You can also send SOS alerts to your Circle through the emergency dispatch function, get an ambulance if needed, and stay on top of natural disasters, disease outbreaks, and active shooting events. With this feature, you’ll even have access to a 24/7 nurse helpline that guides medical, dental, and pharmacy referrals.

The Emergency Assistance feature can also help get you emergency evacuation and keep you in contact with family while you’re in the hospital. With access to travel support before and during your trip through local health reports, visa requirements, and translators, taking a vacation is a little less stressful.

Life360 Review

There are several alternatives to Life360 that offer similar features for location tracking and family safety. Here are a few popular ones:

Who Is Life360 For?

Life360 Review

Life360 is primarily a location tracking and sharing service, allowing your family and friends to share their location and to get help when needed. Making it easy to pinpoint exactly where you are, it’s useful for families with kids who travel alone.

The premium service also gives you access to data and identity protection, roadside assistance, and medical assistance—it operates almost like an insurance plan, offering coverage for accidents, stolen phones, and stolen funds.

Life360 Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Life360 Review

Since no Life360 review would be complete without hearing from customers, in this section, you’ll discover a range of feedback from users around the web. The first place I looked was on the App Store.

Showing an overall score of 4.6/5 stars from 627,800 users, there seems to be a divide between the positive feedback from parents and negative feedback from kids. This is to be expected as it prevents kids from going places they shouldn’t be. Is this really a negative?

One Life360 review read, “As a father if my kids need help I know where to look for them. I don’t criticize them wherever they may go and never question them, they don’t mind me knowing wherever they may be. I’m sure they feel more secure knowing I can find them.

As a parent using Life360, you have the control to see where your kids are, but it’s also up to you to control your actions when monitoring them. Sure, this service gives you the chance to check in on them at all hours of the day, but you don’t have to.

That’s where the line gets blurred for helpful services like this one. The tech is there if you need it, but it’s your choice how much you use it.

Our next bit of feedback comes from Google Play. The service has an average score of 4.5/5 stars from 1,492,891 users, and the majority of feedback expresses gratitude for its many uses. One Life360 review reads:

This app has been handy several times. It has helped us guide family members when they got lost. It has helped me find missing phones when they were lost in the woods on a trail. It lets me see where my family is when traveling to my house so I can make sure they are safely moving on the road.

With more uses than just checking in on your kids, Life360 has proven to be an incredibly valuable tool for daily life. I’ll include just one more comment for good measure. Here’s one Life360 review taken from Site Jabber:

As a female who travels alone worldwide, the app makes it easy for my family to know exactly where I am. If something were to happen to me, there is a shot that I can be found. My teen has the app too. When his car broke down in the middle of the night, we were easily able to find him and help.

Having an app like Life360 brings a sense of peace to those who use it. There are so many accidents and terrors that can and do happen daily, and it’s nice to know that if you need help, it comes at the press of a button, increasing your chances of being found in areas where you have no idea where you are.

While checking into Life360 reviews, one of the most frequent issues reported was about reporting false locations. A slim percentage of users report this, but overall, members remark on the confidence they feel in knowing where their family members are.

Is Life360 Legit?

Life360 Review

Life360 is indeed a legit service, it’s even a free service if you don’t need access to its advanced features. I checked out its Better Business Bureau profile just to be safe and found a B score.

There have been 38 complaints made to the BBB, but all of them have been followed up with by Life360. Working with its customers until a resolution is met, the reported issues were a mixed bag and didn’t show any alarming trends, though the most common has to do with false location alerts, showing family members in places they are not.

All in all, it appears that Life360 does a good job at resolving customer issues and accommodating requests.

Is Life360 Worth It?

Life360 Review

With Life360, you’re getting more than just a location tracker, although that is what the majority of members use the service for. More so, it’s about peace of mind and that comes through knowing where your loved ones are and directing the help they need to the right location if they ever need it.

Considering that Life360 offers part of its service for free, the answer to this question is really easy. But even when we consider the worth of its paid services, the answer does not require much thought.

Life360 Promotions & Discounts

Life360 Review

To give you the complete scoop on the service in this Life360 review, I looked high and low on the brand’s website for information. Of course, that means we keep an eye out for deals and found that the company offers a 7-day free trial for its Silver, Gold, and Platinum services.

If you prefer to use Life360 without access to advanced features, you can always choose the free service. The free service includes a limited number of alerts and features, but it’s a great way to get a peek at how the app works.

What is Life360’s Refund Policy?

While you can cancel your Life360 account any time you like, the service does not issue refunds for any part of the unused service. For example, If you paid for an entire month but only used the service for 2 weeks, the company will not issue a refund for your remaining weeks within that period.

This applies to those who pay for an entire year of service but only use a few months. Once you cancel, you will still have access to the service for the remainder of your subscription. Canceling simply stops auto-payment on your next billing date.
