About Liquid I.V.

Liquid I.V. Drink Mix Review

I took up running at an early age and started clocking the miles. It wasn’t until I got some real distance that the problems started though.

Now I recognize it as dehydration, but back then, I didn’t know why I was waking up throughout the night with crippling leg cramps.

Electrolytes are essential in balancing blood pH and regulating blood pressure, as well as controlling cellular fluid balance. Even scientific evidence says[1] that in the form of drink mixes, this is a more accessible and efficient way to ensure the appropriate intake of electrolytes.

Liquid I.V. is an electrolyte[2] drink mix that sends hydration and nutrients directly to your bloodstream using something the brand calls Cellular Transport Technology. Utilizing a combination of sodium, potassium, glucose, and other nutrients, the drink mix hydrates cells faster and more efficiently than water alone.

According to this study[3], sodium is essential in maintaining homeostasis of fluid within the body and supporting muscle function. Similarly, in Advances in Nutrition[4], potassium is shown to help regulate fluid balance, muscle contractions, and signals of the nerves.

Finally, the presence of glucose in this product, as supported in this study[5], is crucial to supporting energy consumption as other proteins and lipids are broken down into glucose to serve as metabolic fuel.

While I’m fascinated by the science, I also enjoy that Liquid I.V. ingredients are all non-GMO, gluten-free, soy-free, and dairy-free. Apparently, so do others since it boasts 343K followers on Instagram alone. Features in Forbes, USA Today, and OK Magazine certainly draw my interest too, but does it work? And how?

In this Liquid I.V. drink mix review, I’ll take a close look at the brand and its products to find out. I’ll give you the dish on feedback and FAQs too, and by the end, you can decide if it’s worth the buy.

Overview of Liquid I.V.

Liquid I.V. Drink Mix Review

Liquid I.V. was created with a simple mission: to help people live better lives. The folks behind the brand recognized that hydration is the key to optimal health and set out to create a product to support people around the globe.

I’m all for brands that want to help others, but their product actually has to help. So what are these hydration-related benefits they talk so passionately about?

Well, it turns out that up to 60% of the human body is water[6]. No joke. Hydration is critical on a cellular level; water regulates body temperature, transports nutrients and oxygen to the cells, protects organs and tissues, plus much more. It’s not just about satisfying cravings, hydration runs much deeper.

Leaning into available studies, I learned that hydration is also a key part of cognitive functioning[7]. Long story short, all that Grade 10 science talk about the mitochondria being the powerhouse of the cell? Its cellular matrix is filled with water. Consider my mind blown.

Liquid IV Drink Mix Review

The founders of Liquid I.V. know all this, along with the reality that 844 million people in the world do not have access to clean drinking water. Liquid I.V.’s first world-changing donation? Offering 500 servings of Liquid I.V. to a Mission Homeless Shelter in LA.

This act may not seem like much to you now, but it was the spark that led to large-scale charity contributions. To date, Liquid I.V. has provided over 20 million donations worldwide

Here’s where you help: For every purchase of Liquid I.V., the brand donates one serving to those in need around the world. This includes disaster zones, hospitals, impoverished communities, and emergency living quarters. Of course, you now know that’s not the only reason to buy the brand’s serious hydration solution, and in this Liquid I.V. drink mix review, I’ll get into the fine details.

Before I get things started, let’s go over some initial highlights of the brand.

Though Liquid I.V. products focus on optimal hydration, I found that the brand has different formulas that promote additional benefits like energy, sleep, and general wellness. Customers have several purchase options:

  • Single packages
  • Large bundles
  • Combination bundles
  • One-time or subscription-based orders

Coming up in this Liquid I.V. drink mix review, I’ll showcase some of their top-selling mixes, getting into their subscription options later on.

Liquid I.V. Hydration Multipliers Review

Liquid I.V. multipliers amp up your level of hydration. One serving hydrates you 2x faster than water alone. I’d say that’s pretty intense. Use fewer resources, reap more benefits—a truly smart idea.

On top of that, the multipliers contain electrolytes and enter your cells more rapidly than regular water. Nothing like sports drinks, each serving of Liquid I.V. contains just 45 calories.

Ahead in this Liquid I.V. drink mix review, I’ll take a look at some of their most popular flavors.

Liquid I.V. Colada Hydration Multiplier Review

I know some who don’t drink water because of its plain taste. Well, I’ll tell them, your excuses no longer apply.

This Liquid I.V. new flavor will bring you summer dance vibes and a tropical party in your mouth. The Pina Colada Hydration Multiplier bursts with pineapple and coconut; it’s a refreshing hydration option to bring a little sunshine to lack lustre days.

The Pina Colada Hydration Multiplier provides the same hydration that their other multipliers do, using CTT to hydrate you 2 times faster, and a more impressive and tastier solution to water alone.

Each bag contains 16 servings in small packets. This Liquid I.V. flavor can be yours for $25.

Liquid I.V. Watermelon Hydration Multiplier Review

I spent one summer eating pretty much nothing other than watermelons. Packed with sugar, it wasn’t long before my stomach would ache, and while I can no longer wolf down an entire half (true story), I still love the mellow flavor.

Almost nothing is more thirst-quenching than a juicy, ripe watermelon. The Watermelon Hydration Multiplier delivers a light refreshing taste. This flavor has all the mouth-watering deliciousness of the hydration powerhouse, watermelon, but with more hydration!

Along with crisp watermelon taste, this multiplier is followed by refreshing rose notes to keep you on your toes. Like all of their multipliers, the Watermelon Hydration Multiplier uses CTT to get hydration into your cells faster and more efficiently than water.

This Liquid I.V. multiplier contains 3 times the electrolytes than traditional sports drinks and 5 essential nutrients. A pack contains 16 servings for $25.

Liquid I.V. Passion Fruit Hydration Multiplier Review

Ever had a passionfruit? If you can get past the gooey texture and icky seeds, the flavor is out of this world. Me, I’ll stick to the Passion Fruit Hydration Multiplier.

With honey and berry accenting mouth-watering passion fruit flavor, this mix is tangy and juice with a hint of sour to tantalize your taste buds. I like to think of it as diving headfirst into a tropical explosion.

To use any of the Liquid I.V. Hydration Multipliers: pour a stick into 16oz of water and shake before drinking. Heading out for a beach day? Be sure to include a few packs in your bag for a refreshing way to hydrate in the hot sun.

The Passion Fruit Hydration Multiplier offers 16 servings for $25.

Liquid I.V. Energy Multiplier Review

I always feel better when I have a glass of water. But nothing satisfies quite like a cup of tea. The Energy Multiplier does exactly as the name says and amps up your energy & hydration with a matcha, guayusa, and ginger blend to energize and increase focus.

In a tried and true flavor favorite, lemon ginger, it wakes up your tastebuds and is crisp, light, and zesty. Enjoy the zing from 100mg of natural caffeine (like 1-2 cups of coffee).

Partial to coffee? Though you may prefer a hot cup of joe, coffee can be extremely dehydrating and acidic. And here’s the thing: it can actually produce the opposite effect of what you really want, often leading to an afternoon crash. Major let down, coffee.

With the Energy Multiplier, you’re getting Liquid I.V. CTT for hydration, alongside nutrients and electrolytes. Say goodbye to coffee as this supplement delivers steady energy throughout your day with a revolutionary blend of Matcha, Guayusa and Ginger.

I’m a self-proclaimed matcha queen, and when referring to this study[8], I learned that matcha is high in fighting cancerous effects and preventing onset of heart disease, diabetes and further encourages weight loss. Go matcha, go!

The Energy Multiplier comes in a pack of 14 for $25.

Liquid I.V. Sleep Multiplier Review

Some nights I sleep like a baby. Others, I stare at the ceiling for hours like the stressed-out adult I am.

Along with hydration, sleep is an essential part of health. This is especially crucial for cell renewal, which, in turn, is important for detoxification and preventing illness. The Blueberry Lavender Sleep Multiplier is as soothing as herbal tea.

What’s inside? The Sleep Multiplier contains Melatonin, L-Theanine, and Valerian Root, for a drug-free solution to sleep issues. This product also utilizes CTT to ensure proper hydration levels—another factor that contributes to a better night’s sleep.

In this study[9], we can see that melatonin produces anti-inflammatory effects and improves sleep quality for those struggling to get Zs.

Because of CTT, the Sleep Multiplier works fast. This is a nighttime product, so be warned that it will make you feel tired. It’s important to only consume this product before bed.

With this product, you’ll wake up feeling refreshed, instead of groggy, a like some drug-based sleep medications do. A 10-pack of the Sleep Multiplier retails for $24

Liquid I.V. Bundle Review

Oh, how I love a good bundle. Liquid I.V. conveniently bundles their Hydration Multipliers and popular products to offer sets that deliver hydration and promote general well-being.

Why compromise when you can have all-around hydration for multiple health concerns? Below, I’ll introduce you to some of the brand’s best selling bundles and sets.

Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier + Immune Support Review

Getting sick totally derails your life. It’s a total nuisance for me, and while I enjoy the odd “sick day” as much as the next person, being sick is no fun.

It turns out that proper hydration can help us become healthier by strengthening our body’s natural defenses to ward off illness. For an extra boost of Immune Support, Liquid I.V. has put together this bundle to fortify your immune system even more.

The Immune Support contains Vitamin C, Zinc, and Wellmune® (naturally sourced beta-glucan), which is proven to help strengthen the immune system and fight illnesses.

The benefits of vitamin C, listed here[10], are essential for the growth, development and repair of numerous tissues within the body. Also, this article reveals that zinc is crucial to maintaining metabolism function and boosting immune system health.

This natural tangerine flavored blend contains 5 times the daily value of Vitamin C that goes to battle for your body, helping you feel better, faster. With CTT, these essential nutrients will enter your bloodstream faster, too. This combination drink mix has 14 servings and is $25.

Liquid I.V. Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Liquid I.V. Drink Mix Review

The brand has over 30k reviews on their website with an average of 4.8/5 stars. So…does Liquid I.V. work? I’d say so.

Many customers report excellent hydration, high stamina, and feeling better. In this section of my Liquid I.V. drink mix review, I’ll give you a taste of what customers think.

Hanging around the review page on Liquid-IV.com, I read that 95% of customers reported feeling hydrated while 91% enjoyed the taste.

On Amazon, I saw that the Hydration Multiplier – Lemon Lime flavor has 4.7/5 stars among an astonishing 41,483 ratings. I’ve seen quite a few products in my day, so trust me when I say: such a high satisfaction rate with so many ratings is very rare.

So what do customers love so much about it? The flavor and effect of the mix, especially those who have serious problems with dehydration. Take a look at what one shopper wrote in a Liquid I.V drink mix review:

“I had been having problems with getting dehydrated…even had to go in hospital for it…I showed it to my doctor, who was delighted that I was going to take it. She uses it herself. I have noticed a big difference.”

Here’s another that seriously impressed me:

“Unlike the other water enhancers that claim to have electrolytes this is the real deal. Confirmed by my surgical nutritionalist when I was having complicationsShe researched it and now is recommending all patients use it. Oh and it tastes great.”

Liquid I.V. Drink Mix Review

While the feedback is overwhelmingly positive, I found some negative reviews as well stating that the products did not have their intended effects. Some said the Hydration Multiplier didn’t provide much hydration and the Energy Multiplier didn’t have an effect on energy levels. However, these reports are limited.

Perhaps one of the more prominent pieces of feedback was about the mix’s hight sugar content. While the drink contains just 45 calories, there are other hydration supplements out there that contain little to no sugar.

Sugar is a real concern for some people, including athletes and diabetics. So why include it? On the Liquid I.V. website, I read that sugar is an essential ingredient in the brand’s Cellular Transport Technology and is a certified ORS by the World Health Organization; when combined with salt at the correct ratio, sugar helps accelerate the absorption of water[11].

In the journal Nutrition & Metabolism, it is stated that above a certain threshold, salt content is harmful and fluid delivery is compromised but at normal levels, there are no effects on fluid delivery.

Considering 95% of Liquid I.V sippers claim to feel hydrated after drinking, this brand may have found the right ratio. As for the sugar cane juice used in the mix, it’s non-GMO, and according to them, this ingredient “is strictly for function, not taste.”

Ultimately, its presence in the mixes may be a problem, or not, depending on your circumstances and preferences.

Is Liquid I.V. Worth It?

Liquid IV Drink Mix Review

If there’s one thing I’ve learned while researching for this Liquid I.V. drink mix review, it’s that adequate hydration has huge impact on your health. I’ve read numerous accounts of how this product has changed people’s lives.

And since I know that one of the keys to life is flavor, I also love how many flavors the brand offers, like grape, passion fruit, watermelon, and lemon lime.

Although some people dislike the sugar content within Liquid I.V. products, I discovered that it’s an important ingredient that aids in the CTT hydration process. That being said, individuals with diabetes or those looking to limit their sugar content, may want to skip on these products.

With products that are non-GMO, soy-free, and gluten-free, the brand also does its part by using sustainable materials and packaging where available.

Liquid I.V. is not only impacting lives of customers, they are also helping out those in need all over the world. Those are two pretty big reasons why I think this brand is worth buying. Give Liquid I.V. a try, and if it’s not for you, there’s always the return policy to fall back on.

Liquid IV Drink Mix Review

What company owns Liquid I.V.?

Unilever now owns Liquid I.V.

Is Liquid I.V. good for you?

According to Liquid I.V. science, the hydration powder is good for you. The brand claims that their Cellular Transport Technology does a better job at hydrating you than regular water. That sounds good to me, but you should always consult your healthcare provider to find out if it’s right for you.

What is Liquid I.V. used for?

It’s a complicated process that ends up being very simple: Liquid I.V. makes the water you drink more efficient at hydrating you, hence the name “Hydration Multiplier.” The brand also has formulations that improve sleep, increase energy, and promote overall well-being.

When should I take Liquid I.V.?

You can take Liquid I.V. whenever you feel the need to hydrate. I’ve read that it’s a popular pre and post-workout beverage, but some even drink it for recovery.

What are the ingredients in Liquid I.V.?

The main ingredients that make Liquid I.V. such an effective hydration solution is a specific ratio of sodium, glucose, and potassium. For more information, Liquid I.V. provides a full list of ingredients on every product page.

How much sugar is in Liquid I.V.?

Liquid I.V. has 11 grams of sugar in one serving. This may seem like a lot, but it is less than half of the sugar content you would find in regular sports drinks.

What are the side effects of Liquid I.V.?

While I didn’t find any information on Liquid I.V side effects on its website, that does not mean they aren’t possible. Always consult your doctor before trying a new product.

Does Liquid I.V. help to lose weight?

Simply drinking more water can help with weight loss, seeing as thirst can lead to overeating[12]. Although it does not officially state on the brand’s website, I read some customers reports of weight loss while using Liquid I.V. products.

Does Liquid I.V. raise blood pressure?

Let me get sciency for a second and break it down: Proper hydration can prevent high blood pressure. Water dilutes our blood and prevents it from clotting during circulation. When we are fully hydrated, blood is free to move freely through our veins and arteries, resulting in less pressure.

So no, it should not raise your blood pressure. If you have high blood pressure, consult your doctor before drinking.

Is Liquid I.V. safe for seniors?

Liquid I.V. is apparently safe for seniors. The company says that it’s a great way to help seniors stay hydrated, as dehydration is common among people over 70.

Is Liquid I.V. better than drinking water?

Liquid I.V. says that their CTT method hydrates better than regular water does, by allowing it to enter your bloodstream faster. Regular water has to be processed through our digestion system first before it reaches our cells.

The brand also says that drinking enough water daily is difficult. One stick of Liquid I.V. hydrates 2 times faster than regular water, and it contains electrolytes.

That means I could drink 6 glasses a day rather than the 12 I regularly glug back. However, I need to note that water is a key ingredient for the human body, and hydration products should not be used alone—always mix them with water.

How do I cancel my Liquid I.V. subscription?

To cancel your Liquid I.V. membership, you can do so any time by logging into your account on the website. Once logged in, go to your account and select ‘membership options’ at the bottom of the page. Follow the instructions.

I should note here in this Liquid I.V. drink mix review that all cancellations are to be done by the 1st of the month to avoid monthly fees being charged to your account. If you cancel after the deadline, the cancellation will come into effect the following month.

How long does Liquid I.V. take to ship?

Currently, Liquid I.V. only ships within the US. The company provides free shipping on all orders. Choose from Expedited Shipping, which takes between 3-5 business days for delivery, or Priority Shipping, which takes between 1-3 business days

What is Liquid I.V.’s Return Policy?

Liquid IV’s return policy states that if you’re not completely satisfied with their products, you can request a refund. You’ll need to provide your reason for returning the product and their customer support team will take it from there, providing instructions on what to do next.

How to Contact Liquid I.V.

Liquid IV taste
Asked by Terry (2 years ago) Reply

Do any of the flavors of Liquid IV taste like alcohol? I took a drink from a water bottle and I thought it tasted like vodka mixed with water. The person the bottle belonged to said it was IV mix. I would like to know if I accused someone of something and I was wrong. Thank you for your response.

Answered by David Hagan (1 year ago) Reply

My wife order four packets of this from Wal-Mart for me in different flavors.
I suffer from hyponatremia and my wife got this for me. I think the price is way to high, and as for me, I could tell no difference in the way I felt after adding a couple of these per day, along with other sodium rich food. I’m hoping this will change, but I will probably be seeking a refund as soon as I find out where to seek it from. If it works to make you feel better after a workout, great. But if you need sodium replenished and the electrolytes, seek something else.
