About MUD\WTR

MUD WTR Review

I’m a big fan of coffee—the smell, the taste, the buzz. In fact, I may or may not be sipping a triple-shot latte right now. What I’m not so keen on: the jitters, the crash, and the heart palpitations I get when I drink too much. And yet, it’s hard to stop.

If you’re a coffee lover too, you might already know that caffeine has been consumed worldwide in drinks and foods for centuries. Apparently, it’s the excessive consumption of methylxanthine – a compound in caffeine – that delivers unwanted side effects.

A literary review[1] by W. Dworzański and colleagues describes that caffeine intake increases the risk of coronary heart disease, arterial hypertension, arterial stiffness, and hypercholesterolemia. Yikes. In addition, high levels of caffeine consumption have been related to miscarriage, intrauterine growth retardation, and gastroesophageal reflux.

But wait, there’s more. Caffeine can abnormally stimulate the central nervous system too. If these facts are troubling you as much as they are me, MUD\WTR offers a healthy alternative. It’s made from organic ingredients known for their health and performance benefits, and contains just 1/7th of the amount of caffeine as your regular brew.

More reasons to consider the switch: An article[2] published by the Cambridge University Press highlights that caffeine intake exacerbates anxiety and sleep disorders. It’s no wonder why I struggle to get my 8 hours. So what’s a coffee-addict to do? Specialists recommend gradual reduction of caffeine intake and substitution with caffeine-free alternatives.

That’s where MUD/WTR comes in. The brand’s drinks give you natural energy, focus, and more, but without the jitters and crashes. It caters to individuals like me who are looking to quit their coffee habit and replace it with something more nutritious. This sounds like just what I need.

People are starting to take note of this coffee revolution too. The brand hosts a popular MUD\WTR podcast and has been featured by CNN, The New York Times, The Guardian, and US Magazine. It also boasts 199k followers on Instagram.

Ready to upgrade your morning cup of joe with me? Stay tuned as I explore the brand throughout this MUD WTR review, along with its products, customer ratings, promotions, and more.

Overview of MUD\WTR

MUD WTR Review

Just like so many of us, Shane Heath loved the ritual of waking up and having a hot cup of coffee each morning. But, it didn’t agree with his body. It messed with his sleep cycle, gave him jitters, and he became dependent on the drink. Plus, he knew others that were trying to kick the habit due to similar poor reactions.

So, the MUD\WTR founder set out to find a replacement beverage that would offer the same satisfying ritual without the negative effects. After experimenting with different combinations and ingredients, he finally found the recipe that would become MUD\WTR. Shane officially launched the company in 2018 in Venice, California.

I love that MUD\WTR ingredients are sustainably sourced from the best suppliers in India and the Dominican Republic, then blended and packaged in the USA. What else do I love? That each product is 100% organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, vegan, Whole30, and kosher—a must for the modern lifestyle.

MUD\WTR is proud to support the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) by donating a percentage of each sale. MAPS is revolutionizing mental health treatment—something that the brand and its founder are very passionate about.

Now that you know more about the company and how it got started, up next in this MUD\WTR review, I’ll take you through its highlights:

Highlights

  • Sweet and creamy additives made of good-for-you ingredients

  • No jitters or energy crashes, unlike coffee

Though MUD\WTR hopes to help replace some of the best coffee brands with something better for your body and mind, I was happy to find that it doesn’t just offer the drink. You’ll also find creamers, sweeteners, and tools to add more magic to your morning routine.

Not sure where to start? Don’t worry, I’ve got it all covered in this MUD\WTR review. I’ll start by introducing you to the company’s free program and top-selling products.

MUD\WTR Coffee Detox Program

MUD WTR Review

Do you wake up in the morning and crave a cup of coffee? Do you feel like you can’t function without it? I do, and apparently, it’s called caffeine withdrawal. Much to my disappointment, I learned that each time I enjoy the energizing sip, I’m only just feeding my dependency.

If you’re real about kicking addiction to the curb while still enjoying a hot drink in the morning, the MUD\WTR Coffee Detox Program is here to save the day. And here’s some good news—the program itself is actually free.

And I discovered that while it would help me ditch my coffee habit, the program also comes with these two key perks:

  • Weekly emails from Dr. Molly Maloof and the rest of the MUD\WTR team to help you cut your habit
  • Access to the private community group so you can chat with others who are on the same journey, sharing tips and motivation

The more I read, I found that the four-week program is designed to help me (and all others) gradually cut back on coffee. Plus, it dishes out tons of education on coffee, caffeine, your body, and other related topics every step of the way.

So far, I’m really loving the supported approach of the program. How does it work? In the first week, you’ll learn how much caffeine you’re actually drinking each day and get in the right headspace for the rest of your journey.

In the second week, you’ll replace a portion of your daily coffee intake with Mud. By the end of the third week, you’ll have completely replaced your daily coffee intake with Mud. And in the last week, you’ll reflect on how you feel after the transition.

The company will also help you set up a new morning ritual to replace your old one. And in case you missed it earlier, again, it’s totally free.

MUD\WTR Coffee and Creamer Review

Did you know that coffee can cause anxiety, insomnia, high blood pressure, addiction, and digestive issues? I consider myself somewhat informed about wellness, but I had no idea how deep the side effects of caffeine go.

Although there is controversy[3] regarding whether or not caffeine is an addictive substance, there is agreement that withdrawal symptoms[4] appear in regular caffeine consumers once they abruptly cut on coffee. Frequent symptoms include headaches, fatigue, exhaustion and low energy—things that deter me from wanting to go cold turkey.

Don’t worry, I’m glad to say there are alternatives out there and in the next part of this MUD\WTR review, I’ll take you through the company’s iconic beverage, as well as some delectable add-ins. Get your mug ready.

MUD\WTR 30 Serving Mud Tin Review

I hate the jitters, but I can’t seem to quit caffeine. In fact, in more recent times, I’ve found myself reaching for even higher doses. If this sounds familiar, it may be time to switch things up.

The MUD\WTR 30 Serving Mud Tin is the product that launched this brand, and it’s easy for me to see why.

Unlike going cold turkey, Mud still provides some energy but does so in a much more natural, gentle way than coffee does. In fact, it contains only 1/7th the amount of caffeine. I wondered if this would give me the surge in energy I crave.

Using cacao, masala chai, and adaptogenic mushrooms, I learned that the brew would work with my body, not against it. Ok, I’ll bite.

Although there is still limited evidence, preclinical studies have shown numerous potential benefits of mushrooms. A literary review[5] conducted at the University of Malaysia highlights that lion’s mane could have anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects.

In addition, researchers at the University of Queensland found that it can enhance nerve regeneration and improve recognition memory[6] in mice. A preclinical study[7] conducted at Nanchang University, lion’s mane was proven to have gastroprotective properties, suggesting good outcomes for people with gastric related illnesses.

I also found that Chaga mushrooms could have anti-inflammatory, antineoplastic, and immune-boosting properties, as described in an article review[8] by K.A Szychowski and colleagues.

The company boasts that this combination in Mud gives you “natural energy, focus, and immune support” without having to worry about caffeine crashes, shakes, or sleep trouble. Plus, it’s super easy to make—just mix one tbsp with hot water. As for the taste, I read it’s rich, exotic, and slightly earthy. That’s something I can dig.

Apparently, so can this reviewer: “Love it! Mostly the product itself, and the frothers are a really nice bonus! I’ve replaced my afternoon coffee/tea jolt with mud water daily. I just add some non-dairy milk just as I do for my coffee and I love the taste and don’t mind the sediment at all. I just keep a spoon in it to get it all!

The 30-serving tin is a monthly supply, comes in a sleek matte black recyclable tin, and is sent in a plastic-free recyclable box. which is something I love as well. Curb your cravings for $50.

MUD\WTR 15 Mud Sachet Box Review

I’ve cut out alcohol, meat, and carbs before, surely I can cut caffeine too. With the MUD\WTR 15 Mud Sachet Box at my side, opting for a soothing restorative cuppa sounds actually enjoyable.

According to MUD/WTR, its signature formulas will not only boost my focus and wakefulness naturally, it won’t cause the crash. With a hectic life and growing schedule, that definitely sounds better than the caffeine panic attacks I get when stressed.

If you’re someone who likes to take your morning beverage on the go, or if you’re heading away for the weekend, then these individually-packed sachets will be convenient to have on hand. They’re still packed with the same nutritious ingredients like cacao, masala chai, and adaptogenic mushrooms, but offered in 2.1 oz servings.

Although evidence is limited, as described in a review[9] published in Nutrition Today, turmeric may have the potential to improve Type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and arthritis symptoms.

Simply rip open a package and mix it with some hot water in your to-go mug. These 15 single-use packets cost $30.

Here’s another positive customer review: “I’m telling everybody about how MUD\WTR has changed my life. Going from a pot of coffee in the morning to about an ounce and feeling energized and focused throughout the day. Such a great product!

MUD\WTR 30 Serving Creamer Bag Review

Fan of cream in your coffee? When you make the switch to Mud, you might want to make the switch to the MUD\WTR 30 Serving Creamer Tin, too. As a creamy powder, all you have to do is scoop a tbsp in with your hot beverage.

I’m an advocate for non-dairy milk, so the fact that this product is completely vegan, plant-based, and free of sugar and gluten just like Mud is is great. That lusciously creamy taste? It comes from a blend of organic coconut powder, MCT oil, organic acacia fiber, and organic tapioca maltodextrin.

“This is a perfect combination to the mud wtr especially if you like you coffee with milk or creamer,” another customer said. “Its like adding jelly to peanut butter.”

If you didn’t catch this yet, this isn’t your grandma’s half-and-half. This creamer will give you a fantastic splash of flavor, but it’s also packed with cognitive supporting fats. The 30 Serving Creamer Tin is available for $25.

MUD\WTR 30 Serving Starter Kit Review

I’ve been drinking coffee every morning since college—but I won’t bore you with how many years that actually is. If you have too, I get that making the switch to something new can be daunting.

Mud Wtr Gear Review

I don’t know about you but when I meet a challenge or health goal, I want the world to know. Since your mug of Mud is bound to get lonely without the perfect accessories, and humble-bragging is good for the ego, I’ve included the brand’s top-selling gear up next in this MUD\WTR review.

MUD\WTR F*ck Coffee Mug Review

I’m not going to tell you how to live your life, but you may not want to have the kiddies around while you’re using this mug. Served up in a classic black and white design, this product would show the world how you really feel about your past coffee habit.

The MUD\WTR F*ck Coffee Mug is the anti-coffee mug your sleepless dreams are made of, and it’s ready to be your morning sidekick.

Ceramic, dishwasher and microwave safe, the cup has a glossy finish that gives it a polished look. Though the brand does not disclose the size, I bet it’s perfect for one serving of Mud.

Add it this vessel to your mug collection for $25.

MUD\WTR F*ck Coffee Hat Review

Take your disdain for coffee out of the house with the MUD\WTR F*ck Coffee Hat. A true conversation piece, this sleek black cap features tiny white embroidered writing—so I think someone would have to get pretty close to read it.

This hat is made of 100% chino cotton twill and features an adjustable strap with an antique bronze buckle. Make coffee-lovers (even more) nervous and anxious with this one-size cap for $30.

MUD\WTR Year II Tee Review

I’ll use any excuse to celebrate, like the brand hitting its 2-year birthday. Start your personal party with MUD\WTR Year II Tee.

With a white shroom design printed on an all-black Champion t-shirt, the company’s iconic logo can be found on the left sleeve. It’s made from breathable 100% cotton and features a round ribbed crew neck and double-needle stitching on the sleeves and bottom hem. In other words, it’s very well made.

All profits made from this tee will be donated to the PNWA—a coronavirus emergency response fund. Support a worthy cause, and your new favorite drink, for $36.

MUD\WTR Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

MUD WTR Review

I love the idea of starting my morning with a beverage that’s actually good for me, but for this MUD\WTR review, I wanted to see what real customers were saying. So, I sourced testimonials from the brand’s website, Reddit, and the BBB to get a clear picture.

First, let’s take a look at the company’s overall ratings on some of these trusted review sites:

  • Thingtesting: 3.46/5 stars
  • Trustpilot: 2.7/5 stars
  • Better Business Bureau: 1.77/5 stars

On the company’s site, its top-selling products have been rated hundreds to thousands of times. From my experience, that’s rare, so I’m immediately impressed.

Overall, customers are pleased with the improved focus, higher energy levels, and health benefits they experience. Here’s an overview:

  • 30 Serving Mud Tin: an average of 4.7/5 stars from 7k ratings
  • 30 Serving Creamer Bag: an average of 4.3/5 stars from 618 ratings
  • 30 Serving Starter Kit: an average of 4.4/5 stars from 11k ratings
  • 15 Mud Sachet Box: an average of 4.2/5 stars from 320 ratings
  • MUD Whip: an average of 4.8/5 stars from 277 ratings

As the brand’s key product, I chose to dive deeper into the 30 Serving Mud Tin. And, customers seem to love it. One shopper was skeptical at first but is now a dedicated convert:

I put off trying mud water for almost a year because I had been duped by more than one Instagram/Facebook add. I wish I had started sooner… I love chai tea and finally took the leap fully expecting that mud water would taste like donkey dung but it absolutely DID NOT! It’s delicious!!… Both me and my husband are so happy with it!

After skimming through a few pages, I found that the majority of customers agree with these sentiments.

Because the ratings on the brand’s website were so positive, I turned to a few other sources to see if the same level of enthusiasm was found off-site. It is. MUD\WTR comes highly recommended by people on Reddit, especially in the Keto community.

One Redditor was “pleasantly surprised” by the taste. The comment continues: “The taste is actually quite nice, I get a strong cocoa + cinnamon profile with enough earthy/toasty notes from the mushrooms to make it kind of coffee like, with more subtle hints of nutmeg and cardamon.”

Hearing that the drink is made of mushrooms can be off-putting to some people (me included) so I was pleased to see that many enjoy the flavor. I also found other shoppers that praise the packaging and the brand’s customer service team.

All in all, I witnessed that this brand has helped thousands of customers kick their coffee habits to the curb. Plus, MUD\WTR reviewers report a solid customer service team, products that taste good, and numerous health benefits.

Is MUD\WTR Worth It?

MUD WTR Review

So, is MUD\WTR worth it? Ultimately, I truly do think the brand’s products are worth buying. Using organic and natural ingredients, vegan and plant-based formulas, and adaptogens that are actually good for you, it’s hard to find fault.

Plus, thousands of customers attest to this brand. They cite drinks that actually taste good—even skeptics think so. Compared to other mushroom coffees I’ve seen, this is rare. MUD\WTR reviewers even note that the customer service team is helpful.

With the free Coffee Detox Program, I love that we can all finally get the help and support we need to kick our collective caffeine addictions to the curb. Incorporating Mud into daily routines will not only help improve focus but will also boost energy throughout the day—and here’s my favorite part—without the crash.

With all things considered, I think MUD/WTR is a fantastic alternative to my daily coffee addiction. And if you’re a fan of natural, vegan, and healthy ingredients, I think you’ll like it too.
