About Neuriva

Neuriva Plus Review

Neuriva is a brain-performance supplement that is intended to boost mental clarity, cognition, and focus. Using two clinically proven ingredients, L-theanine and phosphatidylserine, the supplement is offered in gummy, capsule, and liquid shot form.

As life expectancy grows, people are more concerned about transitioning to a healthy aging. According to S.L Tyas and colleagues[1], healthy aging comprises maintaining our cognitive, physical and psychological health. Avoiding the onset of Alzeheimer’s and brain infarcts (strokes) appear to be essential to achieve healthy aging. Several studies on how to prevent these common neuropathies are under investigation.

Neuriva has received attention from notable publications like SheKnows, EatThisNotThat, and US Health News, mostly for its endorsement by actress Mayim Balik.

If you’re looking to show your brain a little TLC, this Neuriva plus review will fill you in on the vital statistics of this product and survey customer feedback to help you shop with confidence.

Overview of Neuriva

Neuriva Plus Review

The brain is the most vital part of the human body—you can replace a heart with a pacemaker, but as of yet there’s no such option for your little grey cells.

The way we care for our brain is critical to our overall health. Considering the natural decline that happens to it as we age—phospholipids decrease, communications between neurons weaken, and the brain itself actually gets smaller—it’s crucial that we feed it the right stuff in the present to lessen those effects.

So what kind of nutrients does the brain need to thrive? Phosphatidylserine is an important one: it’s responsible for the brain’s communications sector, without which the whole darn thing wouldn’t function as smoothly as it should.

L-theanine is another key component of brain health. According to MDLinx.com, it can improve cognitive and selective attention due to the way it alters alpha wave activity.

Both of these components are clinically proven to improve brain function, and they are the twin pillars of Neuriva. The supplement is made by Schiff Vitamins, a US manufacturer of health supplements with a history dating back to 1936, which is now a subsidiary of the UK-based consumer goods company Reckitt Benckiser.

Made in Schiff’s manufacturing facility in Salt Lake City, Neuriva has not yet been definitively proven to improve brain performance, as full testing has yet to be completed. But given the established benefits of its key ingredients, Schiff is confident in making the claim that its supplement can play a vital role in maintaining brain health.

Before we dig into the details of the supplement, this Neuriva plus review will quickly fill you in on the product’s highlights:

  • Supplement comes in both Original and Plus formulas to meet greater nutrient needs

Neuriva Plus Review

Neuriva uses two key ingredients to bring about greater brain health. L-Theanine is an amino acid found in green tea and some mushrooms. It has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety, as well as improve focus and cognitive function.

A recently published systematic review[2] by J.L Williams and colleagues found that daily supplementation of L-Theanine has the potential to reduce stress and anxiety in individuals under emotional stress. Moreover, a clinical trial[3] conducted in Japan evaluated the effects of L-Theanine on cognitive functions of healthy individuals.

The study involved 30 healthy volunteers that were randomized to receive L-Theanine or a placebo for a month. Results showed an improvement in cognitive functions (verbal fluency and executive function scores) in those individuals who received L-theanine. Similar results were observed in a clinical trial[4] recently published in the Journal of Medicine and Food. The study included 69 middle-aged (50-69 years old), healthy volunteers randomly assigned to receive theanine or a placebo for 3 months.

Compared with the placebo group, the theanine group showed significant improvement in the areas of attention, working memory, and executive functions.

The other crucial component of Neuriva is phosphatidylserine, a fatty substance that surrounds and protects brain cells, allowing for messages to be sent between them. Our levels of phosphatidylserine decrease as we age, which is why it appears to be important to supplement this essential substance.

A literature review[5] published in Nutrition concluded that there is substantial evidence to confirm that phosphatidylserine plays an important role in cognitive functions, including short and long-term memories[6], attention, concentration, reasoning, solving problems, language, and motor functions (especially rapid reactions and reflexes). However, further research is needed to know if supplementation with phosphatidylserine is beneficial in the long-term.

Neuriva is offered in two forms, Original and Plus. The Original formula utilizes phosphatidylserine and L-theanine, while Plus includes a spectrum of B vitamins and French melon concentrate.

In the next section of this Neuriva plus review, we’ll go into more detail about both of these formulas and talk about their ingredients and effects.

Neuriva Review

As stated above, Neuriva comes in three forms: liquid shots, capsules, and gummies. This Neuriva plus review will take a closer look at the gummies, as they are the most popular version of the Neuriva formula.

Neuriva Brain Performance – Plus Gummies Review

Gummies are perhaps the most enjoyable way to take a supplement. The Neuriva Plus Gummies have a delicious strawberry flavor and are made with pectin, which means they are vegan-friendly. But being yummy isn’t what Neuriva is about, it’s just a bonus.

The Plus Gummies has twice the amount of L-theanine found in the brand’s Original version, along with phosphatidylserine, folic acid, and a range of B vitamins that work together to bring about better brain health and function in six different areas:

  1. Focus
  2. Memory
  3. Accuracy
  4. Reasoning
  5. Concentration
  6. Learning

Though this gummy’s main ingredient is natural fruit extract from the coffee arabica plant, don’t fret: these gummies are decaffeinated. Each bottle contains 25 servings, and each serving contains 20 calories and 3 grams of sugar.

Neuriva Brain Performance – Original Gummies Review

Using naturally sourced, brain-boosting ingredients like coffee fruit extract, the Neuriva Original Gummies target five areas of brain health and performance: concentration, learning, accuracy, memory, and focus. Each bottle contains 50 delicious, strawberry-flavored gummies, which makes for 25 servings.

These gummies are vegan and contain only natural flavors and colors. Take two before bed each night to feel the brain-sharpening effects the next morning. Experience better brain health with the Original Gummies for $30

Does Neuriva Have Side Effects?

Neuriva Plus Review

Neuriva side effects are rare and typically not serious. Some reported adverse effects including bronchospasms, difficulty concentrating, confusion, over excitement, depression, sleep disorders, hyporexia, nausea, abdominal bloating, malaise, and irritability.

The safety profile of CoffeeBerry products have been tested only in animal models. In a preclinical study[7] published in Food and Chemical Toxicology, researchers found no side effects other than palatiliby issues with high doses of the nutraceutical.  .

That said, if you take Neuriva in the prescribed dose (two gummies per day) you should be in the clear. However, it is always a good idea to talk to your doctor about any supplements you are taking, especially if you have pre-existing medical condtions. Furthermore, if you do experience adverse effects when taking Neuriva, discontinue use and consult your doctor.

Can You Take Neuriva In The Morning?

Neuriva Plus Review

While doctors recommend taking nootropics in the morning for the best effects, Neuriva is designed to be used at night. This is perhaps because Neuriva contains 200 mg of L-theanine, which could potentially make you drowsy if you’re taking more than the recommended dosage.

How Long Does It Take For Neuriva To Kick In?

Neuriva Review

There are no studies that definitively show how long Neuriva takes to work. Based on findings for the two key Neuriva ingredients, L-theanine and phosphatidylserine, it’s possible that you may feel the effects of coffee fruit extract in as little as one hour.

According to the manufacturers, those who take Neuriva for Alzheimer’s may see results in about 6-12 weeks of treatment. However, there is lack of evidence[8] regarding the efficacy of phosphatidylserine or L-Theanine for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease or other neurocognitive disorders.

To date, we cannot state that Neuriva is an effective treatment for Alzheimer’s disease nor that it can prevent dementias.

Who Is Neuriva For?

Neuriva Review

Neuriva is made for adults 18 years of age and up who are looking to increase brain health, strengthen memory, improve focus, and/or enhance learning ability. Seniors and those with Alzheimer’s may find Neuriva very helpful, but those wishing to get an early start at strengthening brain neutrons may get benefits from this supplement as well.

Comparison: Neuriva vs. New Nordic

Neuriva Review

With Alzheimer’s and dementia rates higher than ever, more and more people are turning to natural medicine to help combat their effects. There are many products on the market designed to improve brain health, made of all kinds of different ingredients and manufactured in a variety of formats (powders, capsules, gummies, etc.).

Below, this Neuriva plus review will stack our featured product up against New Nordic Clear Brain, a brain-fueling supplement that claims to have similar effects as Neuriva.

Clear Brain uses some of the same ingredients as Neuriva (chiefly L-theanine) but adds in a few others, such as ginkgo, green tea, and walnut extract. Due to that last ingredient, those with nut allergies should not take Clear Brain

In terms of side effects, Neuriva does not appear to have any, or at least none that can be classified as truly harmful. By contrast, New Nordic Clear Brain may cause liver injury because of the high dose of green tea extract in its formula. It’s also important to note that it is not stated whether or not Neuriva is tested on animals, but we know that Clear Brain is not.

As to prices, a one-month supply (60 tabs) of Clear Brain is $35; Neuriva is $30, but keep in mind that its bottle gives you a 25-day supply rather than a full month. So essentially, these products are pretty much on par in terms of cost.

The main differences between the two products are format and ingredients. On the first note, Clear Brain comes in vegan tablet form, whereas Neuriva offers its formula in a vegan gummy to add some snackability to its supplement.

Turning to ingredients, Clear Brain has a wider spectrum of vitamins, if that’s what you’re looking for. But if you’re seeking an acute treatment to increase memory, focus, and learning capabilities, Neuriva may be your best bet thanks to its high concentrations of L-theanine and phosphatidylserine.

Neuriva Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Neuriva Review

Before you buy anything, it’s important to know if it really works. Companies can make copious amounts of claims about the benefits of their products, but if there aren’t results to prove those claims, then how do we know they’re useful?

This section of our Neuriva plus review will show you some excerpts of customer feedback found from a few sites across the web. We’ve made sure to include varied sources so that you can see what people had to say about this brain-boosting supplement’s effects, along with any issues they encountered.

Starting on the brand’s website, we looked at the ratings for the two products discussed in the Neuriva review above, which came in as follows:

  • Plus Gummies4.3/5 stars from 49 reviews
  • Original Gummies—4.2/5 stars from 52 reviews

While both products have high ratings, there aren’t really reviews for either to give us a truly comprehensive picture. Nevertheless, let’s see what users had to say about the Plus Gummies.

There are a sizable number of commenters who say that they did experience positive effects from taking Neuriva, as per this review: “I have noticed an improvement in my mental clarity and concentration throughout the day since I have been taking these supplements daily.”

Positive reviews also mention things like the supplement’s tasty flavor and no aftertaste, which are nice bonuses. Those might also have been the only benefits experienced by those who gave low ratings to the supplement, some of whom say that they couldn’t perceive any notable difference in mental acuity after taking Neuriva for a few weeks.

I feel that at this price point, I should be getting more of a benefit than just a vitamin B supplement,” one of these reviews noted. Fair point!

Leaving the brand’s website, we headed over to Nebula Genomics to see what this genome-testing service had to say about Neuriva. Overall, they gave Neuriva a total score of 4.3/5 stars based on the following factors:

  • Results: 4/5 stars
  • Price: 4/5 stars
  • Quality: 5/5 stars

As you can see, according to this Neuriva review there were more pros to the supplement than cons. The site affirms that phosphatidylserine, one of the product’s two key ingredients, “has proven efficacy in helping long-term brain health,” and also attests that Neuriva maker Schiff Vitamins is “a trusted company [known for making] quality products.”

On the con side of things, the review did note that “studies on whole coffee fruit concentrate are not rigorous enough” when it comes to determining its beneficial effects for brain health. Also, they state that using just two ingredients may not give results that are as powerful and pronounced as those from other products that use more.

That last statement, it should be noted, is just speculation. We know that a single ingredient can indeed have the power to dramatically enhance your well-being. Just look at vitamin B12: without it, energy is depleted and brain function is limited. Pop one pill, and within hours you can feel completely rejuvenated.

Finally, we looked for reviews of Neuriva pills over at Amazon. From 4,673 global ratings, this product scored 4.3/5 stars, with nearly 90% of reviewers giving it a score of 3 stars or higher. That’s a pretty decent stat, and shows us that Neuriva provides at least mid-level results. Let’s take a look at what users had to say.

One Neuriva plus review said that the pills improved mental abilities and even hearing and eyesight: “As directed, I took one pill at night, and the next day I felt like I was operating at 100%–I am 62 years old. I feel young again.” Results like this are common in the positive reviews, with many users saying that they feel sharper and more focused.

Those results weren’t experienced by everyone, though. Many said that they felt spacey or very out of it while taking the pills, while others claimed that they didn’t feel anything and could discern no results whatsoever. As with any health product, that perceived lack of efficacy could ultimately just come down to the product’s incompatibility with individual body chemistry.

On that first point, this Neuriva review reminds you that the product is explicitly intended as a nighttime supplement. Although there are no warnings that the product can cause grogginess, some users may react to the combo of L-theanine and phosphatidylserine in this manner.

Is Neuriva Worth It?

Neuriva Review

According to customers, it appears that Neuriva really does work. There are a few users who reported no results or adverse effects, but it certainly doesn’t seem like that is the case for the majority. In terms of value, each Neuriva Gummies serving costs a little more than $1, which is a small price to pay for a product that can increase mental focus, clarity, and learning abilities.

It’s great that the Neuriva brain supplement does not cause side effects, but note that taking it did cause drowsiness or rash for some users. Those effects are not overly common, but it’s important to be aware that they could potentially happen.

Bearing all of this in mind, this Neuriva review concludes that the supplement is worth the money. There’s no commitment either: if you’re curious but hesitant, buy just one bottle and try it out for a month to see if it works for you.

Does Neuriva help with ADHD?

Nootropics are said to be beneficial for those with ADHD, but more studies need to be done to confirm this.

A recently published meta-analysis[9] reviewed all the available data from studies addressing the efficacy of phosphatidylserine in the management of ADHD. The authors concluded that although there have been some positive results reported, the quality of the evidence is low and further research is required.

At present, there is no indication that Neuriva use can ease ADHD symptoms.

Should you take Neuriva at night?

Yes, you should only take Neuriva at night. Although the brand does not warn of this, the supplement may make you drowsy, so it’s important not to take them in the morning.

Where is Neuriva made?

Neuriva is made by Schiff Vitamins, which does most of its manufacturing in Salt Lake City. The brand’s warehouse is located in New York.

Is Neuriva vegan and cruelty-free?

Neuriva is a vegan supplement, even in its gummy form (which uses pectin instead of gelatin). There is no information on whether or not Schiff Vitamins tests its products on animals, so we can’t say for sure if they are 100% cruelty-free.
